Still think it should have been a control set. Still hoping for Time Control.

I recognise your global, but I'm pretty quiet on Defiant Events so you probably don't know me.

I'd certainly love to see effort put into sliding - my main is an Ice/Ice Dominator. Sliding doesn't have to just be for ice though, as has been pointed out already.
It seems like there are three main requests:
Flying mounts
Land mounts
Sliding
Get one of each done and it'll be easier to make more by swapping parts out. -
Would still prefer a choice of things of equal paragon store pricing for our extra monthly bonus. Whether that's one item equal to the price or a bunch of items equal to the price. Personally, I can see myself with dozens of unused character transfers because I have no reason to transfer; I always get the name I want and I'm happy in Defiant.

I had a go at Mr Bocor. Kind of messed up the proportions but it's hard to tell when you're in the tailor. I wanted to give him more of a Voodoo priest feel to him whilst retaining his Family connections. I went for the Wisp aura instead of the Ghost aura because there's an eye aura option.
I made him a bit shorter in the code.

Which is why I think it'd be best as a Ninja Run type power but with less jump speed and more run speed. This would make it seem like you're gradually going up an incline rather than just shooting straight up in the air. Make all the running, jumping and falling poses the sliding pose (or a new one that looks like skating, reserving the sliding for the falling), and it should look like ice sliding. I don't know if low jump speed affects falling speed though.

Quote:I personally think that low hanging fruit (or close enough) should be taken care of first and then things that need more work, such as Ice Slide, come afterwards... But not too far afterwards. The most interesting thing for me, reading all of this talk about iceslides, is that the idea seems to have a surprising amount of support. Would all of you really want an iceslide before, say, other flying platforms, some kind of mount, etc.? Let us know what you're dying to see in game!
-
Quote:So that's three non-Iceman examples of Iceman-style ice sliding - one from Pixar, another from DC and a third from Mattel; and to be honest ice powers are pretty rare in the world of comics.
I'm sure there'll be no problem to have one from Paragon Studios. -
I personally really like Swan's feathery shawl, just give her a bolero coat and some higher res clothes and she'd be perfect in my opinion.
-
Technically, Controllers and Dominators have conceptual chasms with the lack of tech or natural specific sets.

Ice isn't that bad at range with three blasts and a good cone. The slow and -recharge are useful for keeping things at range and mitigating damage. The attacks are also very fast at animating.
Still, melee attacks are usually a lot better than the ranged ones. For your melee problems - you don't have to stay in melee the whole time; throw out controls at range, throw out some ranged attacks, run/jump in and hit a few in melee, jump out, rinse and repeat. -
Good: Ghost Widow, Doctor Vahzilok, Sirocco, Numina, Vanessa DeVore, Mirror Spirit, Foreshadow.
Bad: Black Swan (nothing iconic about her), Bobcat (very bland in-game), Tolls, Outcasts, Skulls, Hellions. -
Quote:Well there's already an ice slide in Pocket D.The problem with an ice slide is that it's intimately and definititively linked to Iceman. And off the top of my head, there's no clear way to 'make it our own' and maintain the original concept. Not exactly the lowest hanging fruit, but I never say never.
Being serious, I can see the problem because, although it's pretty much Iceman's thing, it's also pretty generic because it's something we can do (albeit badly and only on the ground) on an icy day. Maybe do it like how another superhero MMO goes about it but, of course, better. Maybe with less of a disconnect between the floating shard of ice and the cold trail and using the already present slide run animation. To me that would look enough like sliding even though all that's happening is pretty much the same as the Rocket Board.
But there is also Frozone, he slides like Iceman but he also skates, and creates skis and snowboards out of ice so there could be that too.
-
Quote:As long as it's not flat and snowflake shaped.Snowzone got there before I could. I have been waiting for an Ice Slide for a while, but the Frost path aura doesn't quite do it. The "model beneath the feet" would be formless, meaning that we can tell there is something there but it isn't necessarily solid (kind of like the Prestige Power Slide). Then it would have some sort of trail after it, probably like the Frost path aura (to save on animation creation time) but it would work in the sky unlike the current Frost path aura (only works on the ground).
-
Quote:That's actually a lot easier/more feasible than broomsticks, etc. If the stance animations remain the same, all we'd really have to add would be new models to go beneath the feet. Should be very doable, so please let us know what would be your top requests for alternate flying devices.
Though I see it as an alternate Ninja Run type thing, except it would have a lower jump speed and more running speed. -
Quote:Electric Blast, Melee and Assault could do with having effects that match the quality of Electric Control. But in the meantime, Im very interested in hearing which powersets you think could use some new effects love.
The textures used for fire could possibly do with an update, particularly on powers where the fire stays around for long periods of time like Bonfire from Fire Control.
I would love to see more options added to Earth and Stone-based sets, mainly an opaque version of the gem customisation which could be used to better represent metals.
Ice shields and armours could do with an update so they don't completely obscure costumes, same for Stone armours.
I'd like to see a skull-less customisation for Dark sets, kind of like the Warshade powers but black instead of purple.
Finally, and unrelated, I'd do anything to get an Ice Slide travel power. -
My priorities are definitely costume pieces and auras right now.

Your license photo wasn't that bad.
