That may be so but in the concept art the patterns are low saturation and, to me, look more indented than raised.
  2. You can stay ranged using Psionic Dart, Subdue and Mental Blast along with Levitate, Dominate and Mesmerise but you'll be missing out on Mind Probe, Telekinetic Thrust, Psychic Shockwave and Drain Psyche. If you've ever played a Blapper then you can play Dominators like that.

In terms of what to go for, Perma-Dom is always a priority. Defence is less of a priority because if they can't attack you then you have unlimited defence anyway.

    What you can expect:

Steam-rolling early on because you have solid control options to lock down most of a mob and kill any that remain uncontrolled, by using Dominate on one, Mesmerise on another and then attacking the third.

Your easy life will continue for a bit until you start coming across EBs/AVs, things that resist psionic damage such as Rikti Drones and other robots, and Carnies, and things that resist your main controls like Rikti Mentalists and Nemesis resisting confuse.

At the most, I was hoping we would get some of the other cool pieces from that set, like the high collars and short capes that we see the energy mages with.

Really, I think it's the long skirts/buttcapes that a lot of people wanted, and if the set is released without them, people are gonna be disappointed. - Que the complaining about how the NPCs get the lion's share of the cool stuff. If the player edition of the CoT costume set has a few gauntlet choices, and the long rear tails as a skirt option, I'll buy it without hesitation. Bonus points if some of the other cool pieces like the upper body cape are thrown in. On the other hand, if all we get is less than the minions (even minions have those nice waistcape tails now), then this set won't sell as well, I think. People want more options for their money/points, not the bare minimum.
When it comes to costumes in paid booster packs, we're used to getting lots of options to play with, not a "one size fits all look" with a bare minimum of pieces. Even the martial arts set (simple compared to steampunk) gave us four styles of robe- Two shapes, each one with fancy and plain versions, two belt options, several pieces of armor in different styles, some new weapons, and a scattering of other pieces (helmet parts and such)

If this is a paid set, less is definitely NOT more. (Sorry, Mies van der Rohe!)

*FYI-Mies van der Rohe was the famous modernist architect who coined that oft-quoted phrase.
I agree. The costume pieces are what I'm looking forward to the most in Issue 21. I don't mind not getting the fancy back pieces and belts that the bosses wear but the tailcoats and large collars would be perfect for one of my characters and I was looking forward to getting them the most.

I'm hoping that, as they were made on PC models, we can get at least everything the minions and lieutenants wear... Though I do want the gloves that the Ruin and Death Mages wear.
  4. I have a Grav/Earth but he isn't level 50. I managed to solo from level 1 to 30 in a less than a week though, so I guess you could say that I had a lot of fun with it.
  5. Well taking Hover means you have somewhere to throw in a LotG +Recharge IO, which will help with getting Perma-Dom.
  6. Would just like to thank Zwillinger, Avatea, Beastyle, Freitag, Positron, Tunnel Rat, TheNet, Dark Watcher, Jay, Arbiter Bacon and Arbiter Whiteboard for being entertaining on ustream during the down time. You didn't have to do it but you did it regardless. In fact, I got so caught up in watching that I forgot to watch Torchwood!
  7. I would actually like to see a number of different options for Hasten:

    1) No FX
    2) Fire
    3) Ice - blocks or icicles
    4) Earth - blocks or stalagmites
    5) Electricity
    6) Glows

Options like fire, electricity and glows would be stronger than the auras currently available.

Other things I would like to see:

Alternative power effects (more flowery options for Plant Control, less skulls in Dark sets, metal for earth sets)
    Ancillary Power Customisation
    Two-tone Auras
Path Auras as a separate option (so we can have the fire aura and the blaze trail at the same time)

    Tell me please,

Arctic Air isn't a stealth power, that would be Arctic Fog. What Arctic Air does do is lower the stealth of enemies. I remember using my namesake (an Ice/Cold Controller) as an anti-stealth unit in good vs evil pvp events on Defiant.
  9. I actually took Voltaic Sentinel on my Elec/Elec/Mu Dom. I found that once I got Synaptic Overload I was rarely using Static Field as my main control but as an opener. This meant that by the time I'd used Synaptic Overload, ran in and summoned Voltaic Sentinel most of the mob was confused and partially drained of endurance anyway.

    Tell me please,

Arctic Air is wonderful with the Coercive Persuasion proc. Until then you can put damage procs in if you want. With /Earth you should be in melee anyway so that's that sorted. Other than that, put a few End Reducers in, maybe some damage procs if you need some unreliable AoE.

As you're familiar with Electric Control, think of Arctic Air as similar to Conductive Aura (limiting their attacking capabilities) and Static Field (disrupting attacks with mez), and very good when layered over other soft control like Ice Slick.

Block of Ice, Ice Slick and Arctic Air will be your bread and butter controls. Shiver, Jack Frost and Glacier can be somewhat useful (more useful than the next three powers, in my opinion). The two Immob powers and the Sleep can be skipped because they defeat the purpose of Ice Slick and your Earth Assault powers.
  11. Perma-Dom isn't that expensive. I'm not the greatest marketer and I get very unlucky with drops but I've still managed to get four of my Dominators to Perma-Dom.

If you want to stick to the budget then Mind/Energy is very cheap to perma-Dom and is quite newbie friendly. Plant/Fire or Plant/Psionic are apparently quite good. You may want to stay away from Gravity (few hard control), Ice (contradictory powers and endurance hog), Thorns (redraw), and Earth Assault and Electric Control (not everyone is comfortable with melee Doms).
  12. No problem, Tunnel Rat!

    You should so watch it.
  13. My very short list:

    1) Dominator
    2) Controller

I don't really enjoy anything other than those two ATs (and I've tried) but if I had to list them...

    3) Corruptor
    4) Mastermind
    5) Blaster
    6) VEATs
    7) Defender
    8) HEATs
    9) Brute
    10) Stalker
    11) Scrapper
    12) Tanker
  14. I like unlockable contacts because it gives me something else to aim for other than experience. I've never done some of them, like Veluta Lunata, Slot Machine (which I've always wanted to do), Arbtier Leery and Number 204.

There is one unlockable contact in particular that I love and is actually quite well known - Television.
  15. This problem also affects Conductive Aura.

    Summer Event?

    Event Salvage: Cocktail Umbrellas

Costume pieces: Scuba tank, snorkels, board shorts, Hawaiian shirts, sandals, onepiece swimsuits.

    Emotes: Sand castle building
  17. Also getting this, glad I'm not the only one.
  18. Those edits in Oranbega look a lot better than the striped ones!

@Shazzie: I think it's supposed to be snake skin, which would be leather.

(Male Minion figures are not available to edit in the AE.)

The reason for them being so dull is that they looked silly in their more colorful incarnations, when put next to the demon and ghost NPCs within their ranks. After testing a lot in the open air maps and Oranbega tunnels, the more dull tones help them to look like they belong while also having varied colors.
I'd actually like to see a comparison in-game of these variants, both outside and in their natural Oranbegan tunnels.
  21. /signed... Somewhat.

I really want to see Time Control for Controllers and Dominators but I don't like the idea behind Temporal Disruption and Time Storm.

Rather than the debuff on Temporal Disruption, I'd give it the Delayed effect, then add onto other powers that only affect those that are Delayed (this would allow for synergy with Time Manipulation as well).

For Time Storm, I'd get rid of the damage and make it a pseudo-pet, like Static Field, which does a random mez (except immobilise and hold). Idea being that crazy changes in time have different effects on different people, some get confused, others get frightened, etc.
  22. I got:

    Dispark - Elec/Elec/Mu Dominator - 41 to 50
    Lady of Luck - Grav/Energy Dominator - 28 to 33
    Sylvhelt - Plant/Thorns Dominator - 27 to 31

Should have done more but I was too busy getting the 50 sorted.
  23. I was playing with Beam Rifle the other day and had an idea for an Assault set for Dominators, but rather than use a rifle it uses a single futuristic pistol. The energy beams/pulses from the pistol can be utilised to form solid beams of energy and looser streams of energy, giving it sword- and whip-like properties.

Assault sets don't generally follow a strict pattern so I've tried to include everything that Assault sets have, whilst giving it something a bit different.

Beam Assault (For lack of a better name)

    1) Single Pulse - You fire a fast pulse of energy from the Beam Pistol. Ranged, Minor DMG(Energy), Foe Knockdown.

    2) Energy Slash - You activate a short beam of energy from the Beam Pistol and slash, using it like a sword. Melee, Moderate DMG(Energy).

    3) Wide Pulse - You fire a slow but expanding pulse of energy from the Beam Pistol. Ranged (Cone), Moderate DMG(Energy), Foe Knockdown.

    4) Beam Lasso - You fire a stream of energy from your Beam Pistol which ties around your target, immobilising them. Ranged, Moderate DMG(Energy), DoT(Energy), Foe Immobilize.

    5) Unleasher - You unlock the safety mechanism on your Beam Pistol causing the barrel to glow and crackle with energy, this increases the damage and range of your attacks. Self +DMG(Energy), Range Increase.

    6) Plasma Spin - You form a loose beam of energy from your Beam Pistol an spin. PBAoE, Moderate DMG(Energy), Foe Knockdown.

    7) Charge Pulse - You fire a larger, charged pulse of energy from the Beam Pistol which is capable of stunning the opponent for a short period of time. Ranged, High DMG(Energy), Foe Disorient.

    8) Energy Crash - You point your Beam Gun up, activate a medium length beam of energy and bring it down on your enemies. This attack is able to hit multiple enemies. Melee, High DMG(Moderate).

    9) Explosive Pulse - You fire a charged and explosive pulse of energy from your Beam Gun. Close (Targeted AoE), Moderate DMG(Energy), Foe Disorient, Knockback.
  24. Would much rather have a dedicated Time Control set. Aside from the slows and the hold, Time Manipulation is pretty debuff-centric so it wouldn't be a case of Dark Miasma. Could also use the Delayed status to beef up the controls and create amazing synergy between the two sets.
