Ravenborn, Necro/dark - Natural Mastermind: Soul Collector
what?
(Thats like.. 15 minutes *cough* surprised no one else has done it. Maybe I'll touch it up later, I just wanted to see how it would look! ) -
I only have 1 character that will get them (unless they have a cool metallic/mechanical set (see archangel) then I'll have 2. No trenchcoat wearers (though I can probably think of an outfit for one, just because.)
thats ok, I didn't have any cape wearers back when they released capes, most of my cape-capable (/rimshot) characters wear scarves anyway.
More scarf options! like, one that wraps around the neck like an actual scarf would be nice (I know, never gonna happen)
/ramble off -
How much longer do we have to waaaaaaaaaaaaait?? *cry*
realization how much WoW stole of my life
*sob uncontrolably* -
Saddly, lately I've been spending more time reading the art board and doodling than actually playing the game >_>. made myself spend the last two days playing.
Ending up going 'Oh.. cool shot idea!' and spending 4 hours working on a piece that never went anywhere...
Ah well. heh.
But yes, I know the feeling, I used to hang out in the controller board (I have 5, I likes'em.) until it became the 'why <random>/<random>/<random> controller r overpowered, zmg!' board. I even tried to post in a few of those threads.
Then I realized I wasn't one of those people that could be mean for meanness sake, or do 40,000 word explinations that involved theortical mathmathics to prove my point.
Art is much safer.
And I am STill paranoid about getting flamed.. see my lasts few posts! I'm so terrified of trolls and flames I even get defensive here! -
......
....
*goes and logs into the necro/dark MM that hasn't been touched in months* -
Ah, its not that bad Star. However, I've never used a tablet >_> just a mouse.
-
Very cool, you mention brush strokes, I assume you are digitally painting right?
-
Sorry, I'm paranoid >_> Little gunshy is all.
-
So, I decided to give a shot at a vector artstyle
This is my first attempt at anything of this nature, I'm pretty pleased at the way it looks for such a deceptivly simple (it wasn't) style.
Original
Snowlily, vectorish
obviously a traceover, but I think it turned out pretty good.
For those of you that scorn my digital tracing and manips, I'll have you know that yesterday I bought a sketch pad and some pencils (zmg, I didnt even know I had a pencil sharpener in my house, its been so long!) and maybe someday I'll be brave enough to try this stuff on my own pencil rubbings >_> for now, this is good practice I guess.
ramble mode off. -
I dunno, should it be? hehe
the big problem I have found doing this kind of work is that you do one or two that come out wmgawesomesauce, and then everyone expects the same quality from all future work (not saying anyone here does, I just used to do this sort of thing for my guild a lot. One cool sig and everyone is "zmg! I want one!!!!" then you do a few that are good, but not as good and its 'er. gee thanks. mine sucks.')
The problem with not being skilled, at all, with actually drawing anythign is you are limited to the quality of the pieces you start with to a large extent. Yea, I can do neat stuff with hair most of the time, and baggy clothes, capes, scarves, etc. However, not everyone has these features to mess around with. 90% of screenshot manipulation is just that, manipulation. I'm not someone who can take your screenshot and make something totally new and uber out of itI can just touch it up, add some shading, maybe give it a painted 'look' but I'm not actually painting it, just manipulating the image to Look like I did.
Its all an illusion, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't
That said, I have a lot of fun Trying to make it work, and don't mind sharing those attempts with you guys, or making those attempts on your toons. Just keep in mind, I don't think of myself as an artist, just decent with special effects and makeupIf you are looking for original art, talk to one of the many fabolous artists on these boards. I just make cool shots look cooler. (I hope.) This isn't a complaint post by any means, but I just wanted to state it for the record I guess.
I've had issues in the past where I volenteer to make someone a sig, and it doesn't come out as good as the last one, and their dissapointment is palatable. And I feel guilty cause I didn't deliver.
Its easier I think, if you imagine what I do to be more along the lines of scissors, glue, glitter and construction paper, than actually drawing anything. -
No promises, but I'll see what I can't work up for ya.
Also, shameless bump to point to my little tiny gallery linked in my sig >.>
But, it will get bigger I swear! -

*giggles* I'm sorry, my mind is in the gutter too much. I couldn't help but chuckle when I read the title of the thread.

Snowlily that did come out really very cool! Kinda hard to see the BG at first though with the blur and all!
LOVE the font though!
lol that first one is soooo me too!
TY so much for doing that!
[/ QUOTE ]
I blurred it partially because when I scaled it, it was Very pixely and blurring was the fastest way to take care of it. Then I worked on other parts for a while and unblurring got lost off the history window and I didn't feel like recutting a new unblurred and smudge sticking the whole thing so... Lazy.. my excuse is lazy. >.>
The font was fun. I've done lots of metallic fonts before. found a cool technique for the lightning though. -

TA screen shot artz
<_<
no?
ok fine.
for real then
Seriously though, thanks for letting me practice on ya TA. I learned that I will NEVER AGAIN use someone in solid black as a subject.
Evar.
meh, I'm not really happy with it, a lot of what I do is shadow retouching and highlighting. for a character in a hood, who's one solid color, this what what I came up with.
meh. -

I've always been nervous about transfering influence ever since something like that happened to me in EQ1.
Only it was a couple of Ykesa blades and 400 plat (pre any expansion) And it was a guy in my guild. At the time I didn't know he'd only been a member for a week. He quit the guild and stole my stuff :-/
ever since then, I have to practically be sitting in the person's lap IRL to trust them for a transfer, no matter how small.
Terribly sorry you got burned :-(
For future transfers on virtue and no friends around, hit up my global, if I'm around, I'll come runnin to help. -
I'm the negative of ya Zek. I tried PSP for an hour and came running home to photoshop and haven't looked back.
I've been using photoshop since the put it on my High school Macs for helping with Year Book layouts. (yes, I was in yearbook, no I am not gonna say how long ago it was, but I think it was PS 3 or 4.) I've managed to have a copy of Photoshop on my PC ever since, never had 5, but from 6 up I've used every major version. Cs2 is by far the best out there imo. For what I use it for anyway. Maybe its just cause I know where everything is.
come to think of it, that was also my first foray into photo manips! (making my principal look like an alien. Ah, those were the days) -
So, a bunch of other stuff came up and I didn't get back to this until about an hour ago
Mostly final Snowlily
I'm kinda frustrated with the power effects, but, meh, any of her other ice/storm powers would take a lot of space to show off, and I wanted this mostly to be about her and Jack. Maybe in the future I'll show her fighting a guy.
Original cutouts and images I started with to make this image if you are curious.
Actually, looking at them now, that image of jack is post-color fix. with transluscent images I desaturate and recolor them to even out stuff.
but, thats the scale I started with, so you can see he got scaled up a bit! -
yea, looks more like he's hitting Statsie with the back of his hand, rather than punching him. maybe lower the head a bit like he's moving foward, gotta step into and follow through with a hit like that. rotate the hips a bit. and the shoulders need to come down too I think, more hunched over.
am I making sense?
I /love/ the expressions though. can't wait to see the finished piece. -

Heh, I just noticed...if you look at the ground, you see a half of a building and smoke...
"Pierre! We destroyed the city, together!"
"Yes, my sweet Gina...together."
"Pierre, lets make love over the corpses of the humans!"
Just thought that was kind'a funny.

That caption wins.
Actualy first thing I thought of was the old Don Bluth movie 'The Secret of Nim" where the crows fly off into the sunset with the heart shaped yarn.
Cute
