Does anyone know if you can put an acc/mezz into Choking Cloud (normally unenhancable for accuracy) and get some accuracy out of it?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Nope, you'll only buff the Mez portion of the power.
  2. Bugs with unearned badge placeholders:
Anyone else notice that the first 3 debt badges have meters, but no text? Not even a "???".

Edit: Oh, yes, the Trolls Task Force Reserve Member is FINALLY fixed.

I just hope you guys don't start a new crusade of "Unbreakable is too hard to get on my ________! Lower it some more PLEASE!"

It'll be nice to see this debate finally put to bed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, you'll be happy to note that at least you won't hear any complaints from me, as I can at least see that I can get it through regular play (potentially). I would have prefered a more AT-neutral badge, but I can't have everything I want .

Edit: It would have been better to have been a badge that could be reached equally, regardless of AT, it still isn't. This is still favoring melee types.

When was Disruptor ever for missions? That was a different badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]
For a month or more after the PvP zones went live. The PvP badges were awarding totally incorrectly for a long time.

    [/ QUOTE ]
so... people who did what that poster said, and went out to earn Disruptor via missions, were - what? - simply exploiting a bug?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd say (as someone who has about 4 heroes with disruptor and not reinforcement, and 1 of those with all 3 rep badges without PVP), that all the pvp badge requirements were in a state of flux between CoV launch and January 2006.

They were given at the time for the same type of missions as the current ones:

Patrol - Forward Observer vs Risk Taker / Most Wanted
Your side damage buff - Reinforcement vs Agent Provocateur
Opponents damage debuff - Disruptor vs Vigilante / Wanted

As far as the badges being awarded for exploiting, they were not at the time. When the developers changed the requirements they left the badges on those who, when they got the badges, got them through legitimate means.

EDIT: Here is a link to when positron has stated these badges were fixed.

After spending the last 3 weeks AFK farming while I was sleeping and at work, I would be upset if they were to change this at this point.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Why? The developers have said that they meant the Epic badges to take YEARS to get. So you've taken a shortcut and you'd be upset that the developers have changed their minds in order to make it a more reasonable requirement?
  6. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
What I'm asking to be changed about it, is the requirement of getting the Nigh Indestructible badge to get the accolade.

My corruptor is currently level 48, and the highest damage badge he has is the Ironman (1 million pts. of damage). My progress bar for the Unbreakable badge(10 million pts. of damage) is less than half full. Which means I've taken less than 5 million points of damage in the entire time of leveling him from 1 to 48.

In order to get the Nigh Indestructible badge, you have to take 100 million points of damage! Which means in order for me to get this accolade, I have to take more than 20 times the amount of damage I've taken in the entire time of leveling him to 48. This seems literally impossible.

If there is anything wrong with my argument, someone please correct me, because this does not seem fair.

If you agree with me please make a post so that this thread doesn't fade fast. This NEEDS to be changed.

    [/ QUOTE ]
my corr at lvl 41 has 3/4 of that bar... I love to die for debt... you can stand in a fire for debt or one of those pain fiels thingys.... or just play with an insane bruute all the time.

thats really not that hard to achieve if you play on relentless.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Check and make abosolutely sure of which badge you are refering to. Nigh Indestructable is the 5th (of 7) damage badge (100,000,000 damage taken). The OP is not talking about the debt badge. Two vastly different things. The OP seems to be asking for something that will be achieved during play not farmed (ie Your sitting in the fire suggestion).

    Cytos--scrapper--dark armor--Cloak of darkness--Combat jumping

    [/ QUOTE ]

Can someone confirm what enhancers Dark Armor takes? I thought we had that up in the past, but it was shot down ..

Combat jumping? Sure - I'll add it - but adding the disclaimer that it's not recommeded (since it gives very little defense and uses little End) ;-)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Dark Amor->Cloak of darkness takes Defence buff, End reduction, and recharge reduction enhancements. That makes both cytos and membranes use 2 of 3 aspects of their boosts.

Note: none of the 3 aspects of this power is all that great, and the initial (unenhanced) costs/buffs are weak.

From shirksilver's character builder: end cost 0.24, def 3.75%, and recharge 20 seconds.

there are few greifing tactics that cannot be neutralized with some ingenuity. Last night i found a way into the hero hospital in RV (with help from Hell Crusher)
poor unsuspecting heroes where getting AS'd as they rezzed in their hospital... untill a real heroic toon started granting invisibility to all heroes just as they ressurected in the hospital

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Well, well, aren't you a <CENSORED>.

Camping in the opposing force's hospital is griefing and an exploit.

The fact that you found a way to return to the hero hospital multiple times after you were defeated, just goes to show everyone what a jerk you are.

Yes, I got on my SG's forums this morning and heard exactly what you did, and how you did it. Just be glad it was 2 SG mates of mine that you were annoying, and not me.

I would have petitioned you for EACH and EVERY player you killed on the rez rings had I been there.

This goes to those that "helped" you as well.
  9. Hi jay, keep up the good work...

Female->Aura->Gaseous->Gaseous Body has a sound FX attached to it for some unknown reason. I'll have to assume it is a costume bug, as no other costume piece has a linked sound, that I know of. If you could sever that link to the sound, it would be wonderful! Thank you.

    Defeat 100 Shivans (any type)

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I'm not mistaken, like many other badges, it runs on the tiered system, so that it's: 300 Shivan minions OR 200 Shivan lieutenants OR 100 Shivan bosses OR anywhere inbetween.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is no such thing as a Tiered system for badge defeats. A defeat is a defeat, no matter if its a minion or an archvillain.

    [/ QUOTE ]

(pokes Posi w/ a stick to get his attention)

well...the Paragon Protectors have that cause I believe somewhere, sometime ago that the cap to get the PP badge was raised to 300

7th Generation Paragon Protectors Minions - 1 count
7th Generation Paragon Protectors Lieutenants - 2 counts
Paragon Protectors Bosses - 3 counts

I'm pretty sure Wolves, Vampyr and Shivan's are 100 as well.

on a off topic note...why hasn't the description for Silver Bullet been changed? cause Warwolves aren't the only ones that count towards the badge...

    [/ QUOTE ]
    (pokes DjTrizz with a stick)
It was raised to 200, not 300. Also during a brief time certain Paragon Protectors were not counting. Female PPs anyone? It was in the 4.11.06 patch notes (As a side note, patch notes need to be IMMEDIATELY PUT IN THE KNOWLEDGE BASE).
    [ QUOTE ]
Female Paragon Protectors defeated now count towards the 7th Generation Paragon Protector gladiator badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Thereby it is easy to see where peoples numbers are getting messed up.

That being said, like I said in the my post above, I tested this RECENTLY with new characters as my test subjects. They recieved the badge at 200. The 7th gen paragon protectors were minions to Bosses, including 1 named boss.

At a rough guess on the 204 7th gen PPs, based on the amount of prestige earned, 22% were minions (44), 52% were LTs(104), and 26% were bosses(54+1 named). The team size was 8, and the difficulty was level 4 to increase both spawn size and level.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Far be it for me to disagree with a dev, but this is demonstrably false. Go kill a 7th Gen Paragon Protector boss, and you get a tick on the bar. Go kill 3 minions, you get a tick. Go kill 3 Lts, and get 2 ticks.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Simple answer: DO NOT GO BY THE BAR.

Just before Issue 7, I was leading a sg team using the portal 7th generation mission. We had 2 new characters with us (both under 10, no dealings with Paragon Protectors). I asked the new characters to let me know when they were awarded the badge. I was within range of the party the entire time, and every 7th Gen defeat was recorded. I saved a copy of that chat log as soon as one of the new characters recieved the badge. I then counted every one of the 7th gen defeats. The total? 204. I'll assume that it was a bit of lag to award the badge, and me stopping the count. This number squares with the Prima Guide claims of 200 PPs. As far as the amount of each, well, the majority were minions, with LTs & Bosses in the mix.
  12. Beware of the Necro threads!

You do realize that you responded to a thread over a year old, and almost 4 issues old as well.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
The count has been changed to 50 contaminated.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It only was for a brief period of time, but has since been "corrected". Both changes without patch notes, by the way.

It is now back to 100.
  14. Spawn rate is 1 level 1 contaminated every two hours.

They only spawn in 1 tight area.

Anywhere between 2-200 hours depending on how many you've defeated outbreak to skipping outbreak (200 Hours). This is given with ideal conditions, ie. NPCs or villains did not kill the contaminated, and you or your team got the defeat "credit". Actual time will shoot dramatically upwards.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
The reason I was curious is because I created a Dark/Dark Stalker (while the level 40 thing was still on test) and the toggle sounds (while continuous) were barely audible for me. A long way from "piercing" and nowhere near as loud as my Fire Aura tanker. Made the complaint seem a little strange from my end.

However, I believe I'm using a Live! 24 rather than an Audigy. Mayhap it's a good deal louder with the Audigy for whatever reason. Or perhaps teamspeak forces the sound to play on a different channel and that has something to do with the increased volume. Considering that other noises in the game are as loud or louder, it seems like battle would be an unbearable cacaphony if their volumes are similarly amplified.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Hmm, it might just be that my ears might more sensitive to noise in that range, I just dont know.

I do know that I would aggree with someone upthread that there was a slider for all looping sound effects so that I could just set it to "play once, then quit", while those that want to keep the sounds going could do so. This would be the ideal solution.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
I can barely hear CoF.. the only time it makes noise (as far as I can remember) is when I turn it on and it makes that wailing sound (which should continue while it's on but it doesn't.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

As I mentioned upthread, that is how the sounds for the toggles are supposed to work

    [ QUOTE ]
While not the same AT, they are the same powers. Here is a redname saying it is a bug that the sounds are not fading for the Dark Armor set for scrappers nearly 7 months ago:

    As per Jonyu.
    [ QUOTE ]
I've seen a lot of complaints about this so I brought it up before we went live. We changed it so certain toggle effects fade out but it didn't make it into live. Dark Armor shouldn't be so bad anymore once this gets updated. The same goes for Mud Pots.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    And

    [ QUOTE ]
Not really sure what happened but the sounds for Dark Armor still aren't fading away. I'll let Sound know so we can get this fixed right away.

The fade to Mud Pots is in as is the one for Super Speed. I also asked Sound to fade some of the Warshade toggles, namely Orbiting Death, Shadow Cloak and Nebulous Form.

No other sound in game is as peircing and as loud for as long as the dark armor toggle stack.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Interesting. What kind of sound setup do you have? When I made a Dark/Dark Stalker this morning, with all the armor toggles enabled I could barely hear it. The attacks were louder for me, and I know my Fire Tanker's auras are louder.

The only toggle I admittedly didn't activate was Cloak of Fear. Is it that much louder than the rest?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Err. I stated what kind of set up I had, but you clipped it:

    [ QUOTE ]
I use teamspeak, my system volume is such that using headphones, I can hear incoming speach at normal talking levels. I've set CoX to 10% sound, 0% music. This lets me hear all the game sounds, but not to the point I can not hear someone speaking to me. No other sound in game is as peircing and as loud for as long as the dark armor toggle stack.

    [/ QUOTE ]
A few bolded points for emphasis. The only things that I did not mention was that I've disabled 3D sound, and set it to preformance (on a SB Live Audigy Gold, current drivers).

And it is 3 toggles, at least ONE does not act like this on live the 3 powers are:

<ul type="square">[*]Dark Embrace[*]Death Shroud[*]Oppressive Gloom[/list]I can personally verify that Dark Embrace on live does not at this way. This is a NEW BUG and it extends to all three ATs that use the DA set that I could test with the recent RV Event.
  18. Agree with you 100%.

On an interesting note, the TF Commander badge has a placeholder &amp; progress bar, it seems. Cool.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
Has anyone confirmed is this is a Test server issue or just the Stalker set? In otherwords have you made a Da Brute and if so did their Armor sounds fade as they do in live?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ok, on test I just rolled the following 3 characters:

    A DM/DA Brute
    A DM/DA Scrapper
    A DM/DA Stalker

The 3 problem children for the DA set are the same across the three test builds:

Dark Embrace, Oppressive Gloom, Death Shroud.

All the rest of the toggles fade.

On live I can confirm that Dark Embrace fades for scrappers, on test it doesn't. I will also point out that focused fighting on the Stalker SR set (Live) does not fade, as well.
  20. Since I don't jump around a lot:

No. I do not notice it. I jump when needed, and no more. The jump sound is brief. Dark Armor is not. Other assassins secondaries have this problem of the sound not shutting off as well, but they are relatively quiet.

To put things into perspective for people:
I use teamspeak, my system volume is such that using headphones, I can hear incoming speach at normal talking levels. I've set CoX to 10% sound, 0% music. This lets me hear all the game sounds, but not to the point I can not hear someone speaking to me. No other sound in game is as peircing and as loud for as long as the dark armor toggle stack.

And to answer Tenzhi, no I do not have 3D sound enabled.

I've made a DM/DA stalker on test during this RV Event, and I can tell you that after 5 minutes, it hurts my ears.

Until this is fixed, I will not be playing a */DA stalker. Until this is fixed, I will refuse to play with a */DA stalker as a teammate.

The developers need to fix 2 things, decrease the volume of the */DA effects for stalkers (say around 10-15%), and have the sounds fade out for all stalkers' secondaries. The tech exists to do so.

    edited for spelling mistakes.

I am sorry my original post was so short. Let me clarify.

From the TOS 3. LICENSE TO USE:[ QUOTE ]
    You may not (a) sublicense, rent, lease, loan or otherwise transfer the Software for profit; (b) modify, adapt, reverse engineer or decompile the Software, or otherwise attempt to derive source code from the Software; (c) create any derivative works in respect of the Software or the Service;

[/ QUOTE ]The way it was explained to me is that anytime you open the client and modify any file in an unsanctioned way, you violate the TOS. Even if you are just photoshopping a pic or turning off a sound, it is a violation. We cannot and will not condone violating the TOS on our boards.

There are several reasons for this beyond the fact it breaks the TOS. Let's say an evil haxor makes a mod and hides a trojan in it which is installed when you mod the client and it was posted on our boards. What a nightmare that would be.

Also, as mentioned in the thread, this generates support calls. Saying you do not support this is much harder when it is all over your message boards.

Another snag - What if someone offers a mod that allows you to have a superman logo on your chest? Sure, it may only be on your box, but if we allow a link to that then we are kind of giving "consent" and could open a can of worms.

Now, my jurisdiction is the message boards and I will enforce our TOS on these boards. I am not aware of any plans to change the client in such a way as to make it impossible or harder to actually do these modifications.

Due to resource constraints we were unable to take the time needed to enforce these issues, but now that we have the resources we are enforcing them. Like I stated before: Part of my job is to enforce the TOS and the message board rules, not to go out on other boards and enforce the TOS there.

Again, I am sorry for the confusion. I hope this clears things up.

I bolded the sentence you need to pay attention to.

I read that Exploration Badges now give some XP based on your lvl...does anyone know if at implimentation it will be retroactive or only newly discovered ones count?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I looked all throughout this thread but wasn't able to find an answer to this poster's question. Now I may have easily overlooked it in the 29 pages worth of posts but if someone has the answer I would appreciate it. Just curious, don't think it will modify my play style between now and when it goes live, just curious. Thanks.

My opinion on the xp for exploration badges (because honestly, what is a post without an unsolicited opinion?)...I think it's fun. It doesn't seem to be enough to be game breaking. It isn't that much, it seems to scale with level, it can't be farmed, and it gives non-badgenuts a reason to explore more of the City of * world but nothing that they will hurt from if they don't.

    xp = experience

[/ QUOTE ]Given several factors (low xp, not worth datamining when explore badge was 'earned'), the general agreement is that it is not likely to be retroactive.

    [ QUOTE ]
It's annoying that the constant sound is back. For the last several months my level 33 Dark Armor using brute's shields would go silent after a few seconds. i loved it and it was the only thing that enabled me to level him past 14. Back before issue 5 i had a Dark Armor scrapper that i deleted because the sounds were unbearable once i started to need more than one shield active at a time. (The fact that the end costs of Dark Armor at the time made it almost impossible to use attacks and defenses at the same time didn't help either, but it was the physical pain the sounds caused that induced me to delete the scrapper rather than wait for the implied end cost fixes.)

Please Devs, make the Dark Armor sounds go away after a few seconds of unpleasantness. Everyone will thank you, even the DA user's teammates.

    [/ QUOTE ]
When a sound causes physical discomfort, it is too loud. When a sound that is too loud loops forever, you have 4 choices:
1 ) Stop playing the character/boot the offending toon from the team, refuse to team with anyone having that power.
2 ) Turn the sound off.
3 ) Continue playing and be in pain.
4 ) Violate the EULA and disable those sounds causing the pain.

To me anything but option #1 is unacceptable, and I shouldn't have to make that choice.

Can you explain to me why contaminated MOBs couldn't have been placed in AP and/or GC from the beginning of I2 and still stayed true to the 'starting your career on a high note' intention of the badge? [/ QUOTE ]

Of course, what a brilliant idea!!

And all those 50s out there who want the badge would never farm them with their tier-9 powers and make it impossible for the lowbies to get.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, speaking from a person that joined the game after the winterlord event, the problem you just suggested would have been self correcting sooner than the Halloween Event Badges went live. If I recall correctly I read that two weeks after Issue 2 went live, the Halloween Event started. Even given the last winter event with toy collectors, the problem of "poaching" low level presents self corrected itself. And this is no different than a 10-50 doing street hunting in lower level zones, either for badges (Skulls, Hellions anyone) or missions.
