I am sorry for the misunderstanding and hope that you can accept my apology for what it is and not hold it against me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Accepted, there are enough misunderstandings in the world as it is.
Those who know me know that I'm quick to anger, forgive AND forget. I just take a little getting used to, that's all.

And the moral of the story is...
What's 3 across and 6 down?
[/ QUOTE ]
Both are slang terms found in-game and on the forums. 3 across is a powerful yet fragile character type, while 6 down is a pet. -

Welcome to the new century, I think you'll like it here. Please be aware that in this media age that most, if not all, countries allow for something similar to "fair use" or "fair dealing". You are allowed to copy a work so long as it is not for gain, and less than 10% of a work.
Again, welcome to the internet age.

First off, while my comment (above) was laced heavily with sarcasm and dry humor, I didn't stoop to name calling. If you've looked at some of my posts, you will see that I have a somewhat abrasive writing style. This is part of my charm. As Lady_Athyna has said, sometimes I do post "heatedly". Out of respect for her, this will be my last post about this discussion I will make.
[ QUOTE ]
All I was saying, Snow_baller, is that if NCSoft is linking to the Community Scoop thing, they as a company should have a disclaimer stating it is not company done. I realize that copyrighted images can be used blah blah blah as you so nicely pointed out.

Had you chosen better phrasing, the misunderstanding might not have occured. I could not tell from your practically non-existant post history what context you were posting from, so I let your words speak for themselves. They came across as harsh, and ignorant of the fact that a lot of avatars on most forums are taken from other sources.
Apparently I was wrong. I will freely admit that.
I've personally met with some artists that would use what you said in your previous post to launch a lawsuit. Needless to say I don't like them.
[ QUOTE ]
I don't come to these forums very often, and if you are representative of the calber of person that represents the Community Scoop as Badge FAQ editor, I guess I won't be back again. Give you a title, and it goes to your head. Besides, I've come to the conclusion it was all to get your post count up. Size does matter, eh, Snow_Job?
[/ QUOTE ]
Careful when you assume something. I had that title since the beginning of the year, well before the Scoop started being planned. The regulars of these forums know that I have my own posting style that seems harsh to those that don't know it, and even to some that do. I also tend not to tolerate those that I think are acting like fools, either in real life or in games.
I have little need to pad my post count, and personally I could do without it. If I wanted to pad out my post count, I would stick almost exclusively to the forum games section.
One last morsel of thought: If you felt that you were wronged, you could have shown you were better by making a polite reply, rather than resorting to name calling. Instead you've shown that you are no better yourself than you judge me to be. Please think on that as continue to read and post here. -
Maybe not, but the post I replied to wasn't either.

Well, there are several of us compiling which clues are "recently used". I'll try not to use them too close together often, but no promises.
Contaminated tends to be a fairly harsh term in the english language though. Polluted, unclean, dirty, impure all come to mind when the word contaminated is used. It probably does not invoke the same reaction in me as it does someone who does not know English as their first language.
I can see that thinking along the same lines that you would think those are easier.
Like I said, I am trying to challenge all groups. Sometimes I will make a difficult puzzle, sometimes easy, but all times I will try to put a few of the opposite type in to balance things. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well, different people will obviously have different preferences.
Using that scale of 1 to 10, I would personally rate this one as a 2.5 (needs a bit of obscure knowledge, but nothing a veteran of the games/forums won't think of within a second or two), and the first one as about 7 or 8. (I missed the second one, and the third one was "contaminated" by the duplicate answers.) I would personally like about a 5 or 6; some obscure knowledge (like Cryptic staff names), but the clues will be thoroughly unambiguous when applied to the answer (ie no cases of "it could mean almost anything"). I'm not sure if this is possible.
Having said that, well done on another issue of the Scoop.
[/ QUOTE ]
Addressing the "contamination". The third one had a theme. Crosswords reuse words and clues frequently, especially narrow focus ones.
I am not sure people's expectations that each crossword should be entirely unique is appropriate.
I designed the last two puzzles and clues. I don't work at Cryptic or NCSoft. I am trying to appeal to the "hard-core"/jaded/experienced as well as the newcomer. I know I can't always succeed, nor do I think anyone can. -
[ QUOTE ]
Glass Cannons FTW? 6 down's also giving me issues.
Though I don't think 2 across and 11 down are fair. Unless you happen to be in the right place at the right time, you can't get 2. And 11 doesn't contain enough boxes for the zone's name; only the hero for which it was named.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, yes, you have to read the Developer's Digest from time to time.
As to 11 down, almost all the zones are referred to by either the full name, or like in this case just by the one word. The first puzzle used this convention with a proper name. Puzzles in other publications do similar things. -

cough, I've got a COLD. It's like my nose is a carrot.

The one thought that clue gave to me was "but those aren't Giant Monsters, are they?"
However, I've never farmed them, so I don't know.

Yes, the big ones were Giant Monsters -
Seeing as I just noticed an error, here is an edited version of the above, and it is fully compatible with Issue 9.:
Introduction:
To help people target specific enemies for badge hunting.
At the bottom is a few other uses for the two commands.
Guide:
/Target_Name <string> and /Target_Custom_Next <string> will both get the job
done. You can put in the underscores or not, as the game is blind to them. Both
will attempt to match visible (on screen) targets with the <string> parameter.
The problem is that there are differences you should be aware of.
/Target_Name <string> will match anything that qualifies. "Capo" will get Mook
Capos as well as Marcone Capos, however "/Target_name Marcone Capo" will get the
right ones. The bad is that if the search string is not correct or there is
nothing that the command can "lock onto", you will start filling up your chat
window with error spam.
/Target_Custom_Next (or _Prev, _Near, _Far) will generally target ANY of the
terms, and defeated things as well. You can add additonal parameters for this
class of slash commands, such as alive, enemy, notmypet, etc. If you use
something along the lines of /target_custom_next alive "marcone capo" you should
get the "right crowd". The problem comes with nested quotes. If you make a macro
you can first make it without the quotes, and then edit them back in after. It
is a bit more hassle, but as a personal opinion, it is worth it.
Important for making a macro: you can only have 1 parameter.
Type the following:
/macro Capo "targetcustomnext alive Marcone Capo$$targetcustomnext alive Marcone
Consigliere"
Right click on the resulting macro button, and edit the above to:
targetcustomnext alive "Marcone Capo"$$targetcustomnext alive "Marcone
Consigliere"
Here is a list of "target" strings that should be able to get most, I wouldn't
care about false positives as you can look and just move on if it isn't the
right target.

Volcanic: Magmite
Banisher: Spirit

Sally
Construction (for the badge)
Paladin (for the GM afterwards)
*Note: I've ignored badges in cases like goldbrickers (Fort Knox) or Longbow(Villainous/reformed) where the entire faction is badge-worthy.
Example:
To hunt Banished Pantheon Spirits you would use:
"/target_custom_next Spirit" or "/target_next Spirit".
Other uses:
This started with the following setup:
/bind g "targetcustomnext alive enemy$$targetcustomnext alive void$$targetcustomnext alive quantum$$targetcustomnext alive cyst"
What it does is:
Targets any Shadow Cyst Crystals (my top priority in any situation, puffballs can be ignored).
Then Quantums of any type.
Then Voids of any type.
Then cycles through any remaining alive targets.
The reason for the "alive" in it is because of another quirk of the /targetcustomnext command: it will target defeated sappers/cysts/quantums/voids and get stuck until they "fade out".
The Target_custom_next command has a few other interesting uses:
To cycle through enemies "on screen":
/bind <key> "targetcustomnext alive enemy"
To target a friendly pet (on screen one) and speed boost it:
/bind <key> "powexecname Speed Boost$$targetcustomnext friend notteammate notmypet"
To find everything not on your team (including doors, and glowies):
/bind <key> "targetcustomnext notteammate notmypet" -
High school, nah, post secondary
but currently in the fundamentals quarter.
Computer not allowed in this specific class (Drawing). Mostly pencil/graphite/charcoal, with a bit of ink.
This assignment we were allowed to replicate an existing image if we wanted to. -
[ QUOTE ]
Wasn't the answer for 18 across of the crossword used before?
Are we running out of rednames here?
[/ QUOTE ]
1) Close, and before anyone else asks: yes, several of the rednames were in the other crosswords. I chose most of the clues/solutions based on a "red name" theme. I accidentally kept 14 down in (the only clue/solution not tied to a red name).
2) Almost. There are a few more, but I thought those remaining unused would be nearly impossible for people to get.
A lot of crossword puzzles contain redundant clues and solutions to help fill areas of puzzles.
I'm glad that people are enjoying the crosswords. -
<QR>
Thanks all!
Your comments are helping my confidence for being able to do a good job with my final project for this quarter. -
Here is my ink shading excercise for school.
It is of one of my old costumes. Oh yeah, I got full marks on it
(considering that I am only begining my courses, it was judged on relative merit).

Overwhelming the talk about the other aspects of the scoop?

Greatly enjoyed it. I immediately printed out the crossword puzzle (in greyscale to save ink), and went about completing it. Only have 10 down, 11 down, 16 down and 18 down left to go.
Also, I would love to be interviewed for Behind the Mask.

So, you enjoyed the picture version? Great! -

Anyway I am glad you all like your prizes so far. I know we had some go up to Canada and overseas so some of the winners have not yet received their package.

I just got mine today, darn those Canadian Customs people. Thank you for the gift!

Clicking is not defeating.
Click badges, except for the pillbox series, are only for the person who clicks to succeed the task in question. (And pillbox credit is zone wide.) -
Correction:
Where do I find the enemies to get the Banisher badge?
First: Only Banish Pantheon "Spirits of" masks count for the badge. These are the floating Tiki heads. Totems do not count.
For heroes: There are Banished Pantheon missions (notably in the 20-25 range, the "Wheel of Destruction" arc comes to mind), there are a few good ones in the 40+ range now that the masks are fixed for those, street hunting in Dark Astoria (especially the South East corner in the park), Talos Island during game night cycle (Argos Highway to near the Dark Astoria gate), and Bloody Bay (North EAST corner of the main island, meteors Jay and Panch to the eastern shore).
For villains: Banish Pantheon missions, Sharkhead Isle (in and around Potters Field), and Bloody Bay (same area as the heroes).
New Question:
If I am in the same zone do I get badge credit for a defeat that a teammate deals?
Yes. -

Getting reports that "Badge Squad" on Protector is having problems.
Apparently there are several new channels, "Elite badge hunters" is a private channel for Protector (Only mod on that channel is @Voltor).
Reports that Protector Watch has the most "badge only" traffic, while as a general channel (badges/badge missions/hamidons/chatter) Jello Shooters is active.
Also "Paragon Interlink" is a Multi-server channel for badges, task forces, teams, hammi raids, and more.. They request you bind your server name for the channel so people can tell which server you are talking about.
