    Anyways, as MadScientist has said, we are preparing for an "Official Badge Issues" thread in the coming weeks. In order to do that, we need to blow the dust off of a few topics. This just happens to be one of them.
  2. As much as I know this topic amounts to a Flame War, hopefully this time it will be flagged not to be deleted.

    Here goes:

    Epic healing badges are nigh-impossible to get, with the last two only currently achieveable by one of the several AFK methods (Arena Farming, Lava Spas, Warming several MM & pets on a CoT Pain Crystal), but not by actual at keyboard playing.

    In fact, several of us have predicted that if someone was going to dedicate themselves to getting the badge with aid other during play, that they would finally get it sometime around 2040. This upsets those classes without heals. On the flip side those with healing powers that are doing it "by the intent" would get the badge sometime between 2-5 years/365 days a year/around 4+ hours/day.

    Given that is unhealthy at best, and destructive at worst, why is this allowed to continue?
    - Would take 30 years for non-healers to get using Aid Other.
    - Would take 2+ years of unhealthy play for the classes that CAN heal.
    - Under 5 healing characters have earned Empath, most used multiple accounts.
    - More characters have the Empath badge on characters that do not heal than those that do heal.
    - Empath is 20 times the value of the 2nd last. Twenty times.
    - Empath is ten times the amount of the last GROUP badge.

    Epic damage taken badges are only slightly less insane than the healing badges.
    - Even 10 million damage taken is afk farmed, let alone 1 billion. All the Epic damage badges suffer from this. (edit: I should point out that the 10 million damage taken badge is not in the epic group, but still only achievable by play post level 50.)
    - Speaking of 10 million damage, that is needed for a villain accolade, which means it is unlikely to be achieved before 50, so there is no point to get the accolade. This is because an accolade earned at level 50 is only useable at level 50.

    Epic Inf badges:
    - Forces choice between character and SG, thanks to sgmode tax.
    - The scale from the 1st Epic Inf badge to the last two is, frankly, dumb.
    - Multiple-year commitment, we already have the Vet reward badges for that.

    I have tried to present the above list with the least amount of personal bias. I ask the same from others. Please, please do not discuss afk farming, as everyone already knows that will only get this thread locked or deleted. If that happens, we lose yet again.

    Are the Epics too high? Given that the flamewars only surround afk farming, not lowering the values of them, I am guessing that a lot of people would love to see these reduced.

    Sadly, I think I already know the answer to this question:
    Any accolade earned while you are (trained or untrained) level 50, even if you are exemplaring at the time, will only be usable at level 50. This is how things work now. Any accolade will only record your natural level, I am guessing .

    I took a level 32 defender who didn't have the Atlas Medalion through the Moonfire TF (max level 28), got the needed badges, and didn't have access to the accolade until I was my normal level.

    I gather this is generally considered a "Well, duh!" topic as far as players are concerned?

  5. What is upkeep?
    Upkeep or rent (I use both for the same thing) is how much you owe in tribute to Lord Recluse for owning a base, or how much you owe city hall to keep your base powered. Either way, it is extortion .

    How much is my upkeep?
    Upkeep is based on plot size.

    What is the upkeep cycle?
    Upkeep is paid based on the following cycle:
    1. Base or upkeep cycle started
    2. 2 weeks later upkeep notice appears (you could pay, but don't) (note 1)
    3. 2 weeks after upkeep notice appears upkeep is due (again you could pay, but don't) (note 1)
    4. 2 weeks after upkeep is due, base is powered down (do not pay until after base is powered down see note 2)
    5. 2 weeks after base is powered down, base cannot be entered. (note 1). upkeep does not continue to increase if left for long periods during this time.
    Note 1: After payment go to beginning of upkeep cycle (step 1).

    Note 2: If paid after upkeep is due, but before base is shut down, upkeep cycle acts as if the due date was the start of cycle. So if you paid on day 13 after the upkeep was due, on day 14 you'd get the new upkeep notice.

    When is the ideal time to pay?
    The ideal time to pay the upkeep is a few minutes after the base powers down

    The base portal says upkeep is due, but the group registrar says I have no upkeep owing. What do I do?
    If the base is claiming upkeep is due, but the registrar says you do not owe or your base is on the basic plot, you need to send a /petition to get the GMs to open the base.

    Where are the Registrars?
    To pay your upkeep you have to visit one of three group registrars:
    Villains: In the building at the Port Oakes Marconville marker.
    Heroes: In the city hall in Atlas Park, or in the Freedom Corps building in Galaxy City.

  12. Major base bug: Bases locked for rent due, yet not payable at the registrar.

    I am sure this is causing a lot of (needless) petitions.

    This happens with major patches or base that have expanded and contracted then left for a while.

    The registrar should check to see if the base is locked. If it is and the base is a 8x8 plot it should unlock the base either for free, or a nominal fee (maybe a few thousand prestige, no more than 5,000 prestige).

    Yes, that was the hope.

    To put this into perspective, here is a sampling of the groups I'm with:
    Hero group 1: has 8 full Enhancement bins, 2 full inspiration bins.
    Hero group 2: has 5 full Enhancement bins, 1 full inspiration bins.
    Hero group 3: has 3 mostly full Enhancement bins, 1 full inspiration bin.

    Villain group 1: has 5-6 full Enhancement bins, 2 full inspiration bins.
    Villain group 2: has 1 almost full Enhancement bin, 2 mostly full inspiration bins.

    That is a lot of enhancements, and inspirations that sit around doing nothing except withholding prestige.

    The base could be set up so that after 60 days any enhancement gets sold, and after 90 days the inspirations get sold with all proceeds being returned to the group as extra prestige. Or let the leaders disable the selling if they choose to.

    This way people could still donate to the group, yet prevent the bases getting cluttered with junk.
  16. There is a problem a few of my groups are facing: Storage Creep.

    This is where people donate to the Insp/Enhancement bins and never take anything out, yet when someone does take a bunch of ____ insps or ____ enhancements, some people get cranky.

    There should be a base setting that group leaders can change so that unused items eventually get auto-sold and the proceeds be credited to the group.

    Example:
    Inspiration bins []Indefinite or [__] Days before being sold.
    Enhancement bins []Indefinite or [__] Days before being sold.

    This would also eliminate all the "orphan" IOs like confuse that no one seems to want, no one buys, yet are overstocked because of badge hunters.

    About 6-10 people in my group going after the IO badges on multiple characters, yet some refuse to sell back to the auction houses. Then again, no one is buying the "junk" enhancements.
  17. It is a complete. In other words when the task force is done, invasion happens.

    On the other hand, it should not just be one zone, but two. One random attack for both sides. Also it should be delayed for a few minutes so that those that did the Task Force could have time to participate in the invasion they called down. (2 inf)
