You've missed some threads. I will pm you with the details if you want.

See, I think a lot of the casual gamers think that if a badge can only be achieved by a loophole, it doesn't matter if 1 or 100,000 have attained it. If a badge is broken, it needs to be fixed. 99% of the time any badge changes leave the badge on the character no matter the change.
By your reasoning, all the villains with Multi-Dimesional should have been left on those who got it, but those that didn't would be SOL. Sorry, that seems entirely irrational. -
Actually the damage badge for the villain accolade is not an epic badge (anymore). 10 million hitpoints is the last of the regular damage badges.
The High Pain Threshold Accolade does require an Epic Badge: the 1st Epic Debt Badge. -
First off, I want to say I am sorry for crossing the line of good taste with that quote, I have edited it out, and I hope you would as well.

So since I choose not to create a puzzle, I shouldn't offer any sort of opinion (positive or negative) at all, and should just shut up? Then what's the point of having a "discussion" thread in the first place?
[/ QUOTE ]
No, my point is the if you want to be a critic, try to put yourself in my place. You seem to be expecting the New York Times. Well, we are not. We are a FANZINE.
Given your repeated requests (which I feel are baseless, especially in this case), I would think that you continue to go to the puzzle page. For that I thank you.
On the other hand, like I said a few posts up, I doubt this will be the last puzzle that shows up without instructions.
I bet you would want me to put instructions on the crosswords too.
Simply put. It will not happen, you might as well resign yourself to that. -
*Doesn't seem much of a point deleting this as someone has already quoted what I said, but as a few fellow scoop staff have told me, this was a bit too explicit for the forums.*

Geko, out of the pool and start a "discussion" somewhere else. We really need this to be flame free.

I didn't flame anyone and I'm entitled to post my opinion anywhere on the boards. You know that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but we both know that you have a twisted sense of fun, and like tweaking things you think are stagnant.I was hoping to keep this particular topic on a serious note, though.

Once again I seem to be the one to question the puzzle and its rules/goal. I assume this is a basic jig-saw type puzzle, but had to ask. At first when I looked at it, I thought it might be the type where there's 1 spot blank, and you have to move the pieces around (can't remember what it's called atm).
[/ QUOTE ]
Given that I had to knock that together in under 30 minutes or not have a puzzle page, because the player submitted puzzle I cleaned up for this week was rejected for content. All the while I am in the middle of a final project that is due Sunday (School on Sunday? Blech!) I humbly ask that you give me a break.
Also, unless you can get a static image to move, I don't think that you will have any success moving the pieces around.
[ QUOTE ]
For future reference, (just like the sudoku) some small box explaining the puzzle of the week.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not every puzzle has to be given instructions. Take the Silos puzzle for instance, zero clues, yet it was the buzz of the forums.
In this case I figured if the average kid could understand what to do with the image, adults should as well. It really isn't a hard concept: make an image from the squares. I assume the readers of the scoop, and especially the puzzle page to fully understand some basic puzzle concepts.
And I am fully thinking that the next Sudoku of removing the instructions, as the only people that don't understand how to do them do not do them anyways. Also the instructions are everywhere you care to look from newspapers to the Internet. Google is tracking 62.2 million pages referencing "sudoku". At that point I don't think the 0.00000001% of the population on this planet that plays CoH/CoV and that doesn't know how will not CARE if the instructions are included or not.
Will there be other puzzles without instructions: Yes.
One of my teachers gave me a bit of some scary facts: People don't read body copy. The majority of people stop at the images. Only 30% of the remainder go on to read the headline. Only 15% of those actually goes on to read the body copy.
So far you have been the -only- person to ask for any explaination of the puzzles. If you feel you can do better, send me or any of the scoop staff something that can used instead. I am willing to take a look at any puzzle that is related to the game to include in the scoop. There have been very few submissions, and I have designed the majority of the puzzles myself. -

Another take on the Base Cost Calculator:
Base Cost Calculator with upgrade differences by Finduilas [Issue 11] -
Real life was a bit more in our collective faces than normal these last few weeks.
I've been down with the flu since November 24th, for instance. Now it is final week of classes for this term for me on top of it.
Then there was the Meet and Greet at the same time for most of the rest of the Scoop Staff. -
Lighthouse, would there be a possibility for a web-based interface to globally or by character set the options?
Maybe as part of the Account Page? -
There is already a correction in the pipeline for the first page. Sorry that the forums broke the recipe coupons.
-
Thanks. It is begging to look like I'll will not have the time to do an extensive overhaul of the guide until Dec 15. School being a priority and all. Oh well, that lets me add in Issue 11 things.

Elevation buttons for base items (+,- height) have each step go one floor "height".

Oh, they are aware of the player feelings on this. However, apparently it is a coding issue (according to Castle). Even though two of the developers have stated that they are personally not fond of the situation, it seems that this is coming down to coding time, after the design crew gets the clue that people are unhappy about this.
As to PM'ing Positron, I think that while he is aware of the issue, filling up his PM box is unlikely to change his mind. -
You've blinded me with your avatar (in a good way

1: Love that the Scoop keeps getting bigger.
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't expect that trend to continue. This issue was laid out by two people. Sanity and time constraints will tend to force smaller issues. This one likely is the result of next week's US Holiday.

I knew there was something wrong with the art in this issue. -

Umm....there is no more getting "one side of the game" anymore :-D

The give away for the "other side" was a one time only thing.

Lastly: This is a one time grant. New accounts made after yesterday using only CoH or only CoV will not have access to both games.

Hmm. In Canada (at least BC), we had a statutory holiday on the 9th for Rememberance Day (11th).
[/ QUOTE ]
Umm wrong..it's on the 12th..
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, my school shut down on Friday (9th), but is open on Monday (12th). The local high school has both off.
The actual holiday is November 11, what day is chosen for people to have off appears to be fluid. -

Thanks for putting up with all this for the last 12 months.

One thing I've wanted to do since the very beginning, but haven't, has been to get better acquainted with the movers and shakers of the CoH community.

Ooh, I thought some of us might have broken you of that wish.

Oh, sure, in the course of my day to day, I have interacted with some of you.

And thank you for evey bit of your time doing so!
Even when I have gone a bit "too far". -

Sorry about the errors ya'll.

Don't get me started about what I have left "unfixed" in the scoop layouts during the last few weeks.
-
Ex Libris has uploaded some fixes to today's scoop.
* A couple of front page corrections: roman issue number, indentifying the Scavenger Hunt's server
* Spelling of the City Traveler standardized (both "Traveller" and "Traveler" are correct, but changed for consistancy). Also restored link from Table of Contents.
* Inserted Dark_Respite's name that was missing.
Thanks go to Dirtwolf for doing such a great job on the layout this week. -

As a game for all ages I dont feel some of the artwork depicted was appropriate. Paticularly the ones entitled "Rose Maiden", "Devilita", and "Shiramune". Although I can appriciate the talent behind those works I don't feel they should be featured in a general newsletter.
[/ QUOTE ]
When did City of Heroes/Villains become a game for all ages? Last I knew, the game was rated "T for Teen", not "E for Everyone".
[/ QUOTE ]
Well looking down at the bottom of the page shows the ESRB "T for Teen".

TEEN
Titles rated T (Teen) have content that may be suitable for ages 13 and older. Titles in this category may contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling, and/or infrequent use of strong language.
