Thanks for the Warm welcome. I'm really happy to be here, helping make "City of" a better place.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even named after one of the more infamous heroes in the game?
Welcome to the forums, I hope you enjoy them as much as we do. -
[ QUOTE ]
I know someone a while back mentioned that the term 'Mastermind' does tend to have certain 'villainous' connotations, so here's a thought.
[/ QUOTE ]
The word can be used both in a criminal and non-criminal sense. Then again so can 'Controller' and 'Summoner'.
[ QUOTE ]
For a way to have a 'hero' summoning several semi-independent and potentially varying-in-power pets... how about Duplication? Both hubby and I have thought since we started that it would be neat if you could play a duplicator character (with several versions of yourself running around in a group, using less powerful versions of your own attacks).
[/ QUOTE ]
That is a great idea, and it is generic enough to work for both heroes and villains. Same as robots, same as gangs (there are a few non-criminal gang-like organizations out there in real life), same with mercenaries. While ninjas don't exist, there are precedents for good ninja clans. . The only MM power set that might have some difficulty is Necromancers. -
[ QUOTE ]
Despite arguements against, CoH and CoV are two entirely different games. Therefore people expect an entirely seperate experience. Master Minds like Defenders help distinguish that difference and mold villainside into a unique game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong. Plain and simply wrong. The developers have always considered CoH and CoV one game. Only a small minority of players consider them two separate entities, mostly those that prefer villains. These players are [u]wrong[u]. The Good vs. Evil edition was the last nail in that coffin.
[ QUOTE ]
Perhaps within the near future we might see a type of "summoner" for hero-side that might better fit its theme. Untill then, I can't agree that Master Minds are prevalent aspects in any "Super Hero" theme. They are however very widespread within the Super Villain archetype.
[/ QUOTE ]
It doesn't matter, as someday they will have side switching. When that happens, you will see all archetypes on both sides.
Basically if you [u]choose[u] to believe that Master Minds only belong on villains, that is your choice. On the other hand it will not stop those who don't care to let what something is called narrowly define what limitations are imposed on their play. -
I think I can safely say that would be a "NO". Too many problems for that to happen.
I can see people being highly insulted (completely justified), and that is just to start. Also it wouldn't pass the in-game censors.
Simply put: Putting a major religious figure in the game would be a minefield that any sane company would steer well away from, especially a current religion.

Nowhere in the knowledge base or info about the EATs does it say that that is behavior. I could see many an upset player unlocking their EAT and deciding to reroll the same character as one of the EATs so deleting their 50 to start his 'new career' just to find out they can't get the EAT anymore and now no longer have the level 50.
[/ QUOTE ]
While it does suck, it is working as intended. This has been asked of the red names. Repeated player tests were done on the Test server.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait wait wait wait...
Since when?
Several people have tested this with Kheldians and show quite the opposite to be true. Once you unlock it, it stays unlocked. Since when has this changed?
[/ QUOTE ]
It has been noted since Issue 4:
[ QUOTE ]
The Test server (Training Room) is completely separate from the live servers, to create a Kheldian on the test server you need a level 50 character there (use the copy tool). [u]You can copy over a Kheldian and use it like any other character but you still need a level 50 character on TR to create new ones (eg. if you want to test low level Kheldian content).[u]
[/ QUOTE ]
Also, it [u]IS[u] in the Knowledge base ( http://help.plaync.com/cgi-bin/playn...hp?p_faqid=438 ):
[ QUOTE ]
[u]Note: You must have at least one level 50 hero on your account to access one of the follow archetypes:[u]
Peacebringers
...
Warshades

Any other questions? -

I would like to see an update to the game engine myself. Even most of the oldest MMO's upgrade their engines, and are still around today.
[/ QUOTE ]
Happy birthday.
An upgrade to the engine would be a major undertaking, and compared with the announced plans, far more than what we should expect with this issue (which does fall in line with the "minor upgrade" that was promised). The fact that they managed to get as much as they did with the people they had is pretty amazing. Now that they are getting into where they have more resources thanks to the NCsoft buyout, we should see some great things for Issues 13-14+. -

As far as I know (I'm not about to delete my only 50 as he's still my main hero) but the account unlock of the EAT doesn't require you to keep at least one level 50 character. All getting to 50 does is unlock the AT in the character creation screens and is not required to be around to keep the new ATs unlocked. Think of it like making a recipe for a costume piece, you don't need to keep the recipe to have access ot the costume piece, it just sets a hidden flag on your char (or account in the case of the EATs) that says you can access the content. Keeping the item (the level 50 in the case of EATs) is not required to keep that flag.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is incorrect. It has been tested and shown that deleting your only level 50 will RElock the epic ATs.
[/ QUOTE ]
hmm well that sucks and I suspect is a bug.

Stupid newbie questions:
- Pre- existing lvl 50 villains are valid to unlock the new epic archetypes?
- Once unlocked, are they valid to all servers?
- If you delete your only lvl 50 villain (after unlocking it, that is), can you continue to play your newly created Blood Widow, and can you still create characters with the new archetypes?
- And what if you delete the old ones and the only lvl 50 left is one of the new archetypes? Is it valid?
[/ QUOTE ]
Educated guesses, based on the Hero Epic Archetypes:
Yes, existing lvl 50 villains are valid to unlock the new epic archetypes.
Yes, once unlocked, they are valid to all servers.
Yes, if you delete your only level 50 villain, you can continue to play your newly created Blood Widow, but you will not be able to make another until you get another level 50 villain.
Yes, if you delete the old ones and the only level 50 is one of the new Archetypes, it still allows you to create a new Epic Villain AT. -
[ QUOTE ]
masterminds do not belong on hero side.
[/ QUOTE ]
It is amazing just how narrow-minded some people can be. Both CoH and CoV compromise one unified game, and that isn't going to change. So masterminds might show up blue-side despite your wishes. I wouldn't be suprised if eventually we see all ATs available to both sides. There is also the often requested feature about side switching.
Sadly, despite the facts that smack people in the face with every Issue since Issue 8, it seems that certain people will continue to insist that both sides are "seperate entities". They will continue to be disappointed though.
(Edit to remove an overly-inflamitory remark.) -
[ QUOTE ]
Issue 12 looks great, don't get me wrong. But letting serious bugs go unfixed for years is a bit shabby. I'd be willing to forgo a new issue for that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Some of the bugs have been around so long that they are now upgraded to the "Undocumented Features" status.
Seriously though, up until NCsoft stepped in, there probably hasn't been enough people around to fix those bugs for the last year+. -

So, was I reading it right that each AT will get one primary and secondary power from its corresponding AT? If so that's awesome!
[/ QUOTE ]
Every AT gains at least 1 powerset -- Masterminds only get a Secondary, no new Primary. Brutes get 2 new Primaries, and 1 secondary. Everyone else gets 1 Primary and 1 Secondary.

JOIN THE MIDNIGHT SQUAD (LEVELS 10 - 20)
The clandestine organization of mystics, scholars and mages, known only as the Midnight Squad, seeks to rebuild its numbers since the devastating assault of the Rikti Invasion. The Midnighters hold a secret that could bring the alien assault to an end, but without the help of the Heroes of Paragon City it will remain Lost forever.

Would this also be accessible to characters [u]over[u] level 20? Would this require flashing back to the content or does the content auto exempt or does it scale like the inventions tutorial?
Inquiring minds and all.

You might need some color sense.
There are plenty of mono- and duo- chromatic color schemes that look good.

So After I looked at her in game and your picture (which you did an awesome job on) I decided I would just add some light in it. So I created a glow on her body...messed up a bit on the face...will be redoing that part soon....but here it is:

I don't know, the body glow washes out the details. -
This is a good compromise.

Heh, I'm not on Deviant (yet). But for you, I'll pm you a non-blocked version.
Edit:
PM sent. -
Well the next three or so weeks are set aside mostly for final school projects, as I am trying to keep my grades up.

I started this a couple weeks ago, but due to homework, have not been able to complete it.
Paladin - constructivist style
As it sits, it sort of is a combination of constructivist and abstract expressionism. -
Yes, there is something to be said for the clear-cut style of the period.

German law requires a ratio of 90% Kittens, Puppies and Rainbows to every 1% of content.

I thought it was 50% Lolcats/catgirls (though Miss_Kitty might be enough alone), 30% Puppies, and 29% Rainbows to every 1% of content. -
Maybe there should be a form for why people quit the task force to leave feedback.

Also, bugs are not the only reason changes get reverted on test server. See the last Assassin Strike change.
[/ QUOTE ]
We weren't talking about reverting something on the test server. We were talking about reverting something on the live server and leaving it on the test server for more testing (and there's no need to do that).
[/ QUOTE ]
And the only reason you both are having the discussion is that if the changes were announced on the test server, then people could have spoken then. They were denied that chance. -
While trying to learn some ins and outs of Illustrator, I've remade some badge art as vectors, I'll probably do more as my free time permits, but here are a couple that are pretty much finished:
Dimensional Warder badge. (reference) (Edit: faceplate mostly fixed)
Banisher badge. (reference)
