I think we will need to bust out Team Cheaty Face again and run it on Relentless. I think the Emp was fantastic and I don't doubt the awesome power of Fortitude, CM, AB and the RAs but I'd really like to run this with a full villain squad. The double /Colds were amazing. I think replacing the Emp with ideally a 2nd sonic or a thermal will do the trick. Other than that change (which I only want cause the Emp isn't a Villain) I really can't imagine how our team could have been better
So... who's in for another run on Relentless -
Rose hosted an Imperious Task Force race on Freedom on June 1st. Team Cheaty Face, who created the Cap SF video in 20:26 decided to show up for the Imperious Task Force in force.
The video
Screenshot of Time
You can watch in browser form or download Veoh TV and click the "Watch on Veoh TV" orange button on the right. The video isn't as good quality as I hoped but it works.
Strategy:
Mission 1 - Rescue 8-10 Sybils then rescue the Oracle
Each hostage is at or close to set positions and is guarded by three romans. Run to these positions and defeat these three romans only. Ignore the rest. After the Sybils are rescued haul up to the top of the hill. Defeat the enemies around the Oracle. The Oracle WILL target enemies but will not engage them. After you have gotten her attention pull all or most of the enemies to the far side of the alter. She will inevitably follow you, stand at the alter, and shortly after the mission will complete.
Mission 2 - 10 Nictus Crystals.
The Nictus crystals are the only things needed to be defeated on this map. Get in, blow up the crystal, run to the next one. The ambushers will come and stop where the team was standing when the crystals exploded. If you aren't there anymore ...
Mission 3 - Romulus, 5 Generals and X Romans
You will defeat X Romans in the process of defeating the others. There are 4 different types of Generals randomly distributed among 4 points. The types include:
1) All Boss
2) Surgeons
3) Legions
4) Elite Bosses
I believe you only need to defeat the General himself on the All Boss and the Legions spawn. The surgeon spawn you will want to defeat all the surgeons before defeating the General. The Elite Boss spawn requires you to defeat every EB along with the General. Get in the mission, run to each general, defeat him and run away. Significant server-side lag will appear on this map.
After defeating those 4 Generals run to the computer. Focus all fire on the computer until it is defeated. Ignore the robots. Get up top and defeat Romulus and Requiem and the mission is over. Standard run in there and beat the snot out of them works.
Mission 4 - Defeat Romulus and 300 Romans
Cheaty Face and many other teams like to start from the back. Run to one of the towers and pull Romulus up. The towers give a good chance that the healing Nictus will be separate from Romulus. Out of line of sight is sufficient. If the healing nictus is not out of line of sight you can still pound his face in. Team Cheaty Face uses the bash Romulus four times method. Each time he respawns a massive AoE stun occurs. Be prepared. Defeat him 4 times they find big piles of Romans to defeat. You are done.
Team Composition:
Team composition is a tricky matter. For speed ITF runs you want a team that can run through hordes of Romans for missions 1, 2 and 3 and defeat AVs at high speeds for missions 3 and 4. Even more ideal is having a team that can split off into two separate squads for missions 1 and 2. I suggest using a large amount of buffers and debuffers. Turn the whole time into impenetrable tanks through the use of buffs
Team Cheaty Face was composed of:
SS/Elec Brute
SS/Fire Brute
Ice/Cold Corruptor
Ice/Cold Corruptor
Fire/Rad Corruptor
Fire/Sonic Corruptor
Sonic/Kin Corruptor
Hero Scum (Emp Defender of the non-healzor variety) -
You can also just kill the crystals and run away. The ambushers stop where the team was standing when the crystal died. If you aren't standing there they won't come looking for you.
Also, I added the Team Cheaty Face method which isn't going to work for 99 out of 100 pugs. Video and Guide included -
I have to admit I read the PvP article multiple times
Also I really liked the costume article as well. I remember flipping through the first time to get to the PvP article again and seeing lots of 1/2 naked people and trying to ignore. I finally read the darn thing and looked closer at the pictures (closer in a non-gross way) and was very impressed. -

JoJo's no math Guide to Brute Patrons
This guide is for real Brutes. If you are one of those "smart" Brutes who wants "facts" and "real information" than this guide is not for you. If you are one of those "smart" Brutes you would just go into the game and type the name of the powers in brackets and read the darn information yourself. If you are one of those "lazy" Brutes who is too pathetic to actually look at the numbers himself and discover which is "the best for you" then this guide is not for you. You belong here in the Slapper Forum where you belong. This guide is for real Brutes not "smart" Brutes and not "lazy" Brutes.
Each Patron Power set has its own pet. A summonable Arachnos troop to assist you in your ventures. What a crock of bunny turds! The basic weakling Arachnos troops at your disposal are pathetic and useless. You are a Brute capable of massive destruction. If a worthless Arachnos troop followed you into battle it would be destroyed instantly. They do follow you... and they do die... and they are worthless. Sometimes they do not follow you into battle. After a battle while you are gloating over the pitiful bodies of your defeated foes and basking in the glory of your achievements your stupid henchman may wander off and fire into a huge horde of foes. Don't waste your time enlisting such a pathetic sidekick.
Who? Ghost Widow
Huh? Soul, Dark
What it do? Shoots black stuff.
Why would I want this? Ghost Widow is for you if you want to shoot guys from far away.
Use small words: Pew Pew, FREEM
Who? Scirocco
Huh? Mu, Lightning
What it do? Shoots lightning at people.
Why would I want this? Scirocco is for you if you want to hit lots of bad guys and deal lots of damage to them.
Use small words: Farm
Who? Black Scorpion
Huh? Mace
What it do? You whoop out an Arachnos Mace and do stuff.
Why would I want this? Black Scorpion is for you if you want to trap guys with a Mace then run up to their face and punch it.
Use small words: PvP
Who? Mako
Huh? Sharks
What it do? Sharks
Why would I want this? Sharks
Use small words: Sharks
Who? The Fighting Power Pool
Huh? Its a Power Pool
What it do? Tough and Weave make you harder to beat up.
Why would I want this? If you don't want to shoot stuff from far away, you want to punch stuff in the face, and you don't have E.D. then the Fighting pool is for you.
Use small words: Just pick this one and stop whining.
So there you go. That's what all 5 Brute Patrons do and why you might want to take them. -
There's no real problem. Its simply that many players have accomplished these feats and none have bothered to post about it.

**Not 100% up to date, but close enough**
I I've seen a few threads referring to the "best" way to run cap SFs, who's the best Brute, who's the best Corruptor. In the interest of showing that Cap SFs are STILL super-fast and in the interest of getting more recipes into the villain market, I am going to answer these questions. This method is, until proven otherwise, the fastest method of running the Cap SF.
Here is my realistic ideal team, you do not need the 100% ideal team to put up 100% ideal times consistently. 3 Super Strength/Fire Superspeed Brutes 2 Brutes x/x with Superspeed minimum (I use a level 50 Purple IO'd SS/Elec) 1 Sonic/Sonic Corruptor, preferably with Assemble team temp power Anything really, but sonic-sonic to turn the AVs into Jello for the Brute squad, making the Brutes invulnerable is nice too 4 Anything, Fillers, Collectors, Duds, slackers, beggars, Recipe Monkies Can be Rads or Kins or Ices or whatever, or real players for the 1st Mission Really want 4 Players total with Superspeed, 2 of them Brutes.
I can understand people saying 7 Fire/Rads or things like that, but really, any 2 Superspeeding Brutes + a Sonic (or thermal or ice) is really going to put up sick times. Superspeed is SUPER important so you don't have to wait around recalling everyone, or anyone. Besides, one Brute alone is enough to smash most entire missions. When you have Superspeed you can simply run by anything and go through the missions at insane speeds. Easily stealthing to the end. A stealth IO helps too, but IO Stealthed Fly/Superjunk is nowhere near as fast as Superspeed alone.
Preparation 3 Brutes go to the Hospital Area, along with any other real runners 1 Sonic given star 4 Fillers face the portal 2 feet away Sonic goes to Hospital area, shields up everyone, returns to contact Start the fillers logging out Start the Task Force, sonic Stays Put
Missions 1 - Defeat All - Southern Mercy Team Brute Squad enters once all fillers have logged out. Simply kill everything, piece o' cake. When mission complete, exit ASAP. Sonic selects mission 2 and gets his booty moving to mission 2 location. If he gets there fast enough, Assemble team, shield as many as you can. If they enter too fast, who cares. Return to TF location. If you don't get there fast enough, make the Brute Squad walk. I can understand people arguing that there are better team makeups to clobber mission 1. However, 3 Raging Brutes against 4 player spawns of whites/yellows/oranges is pretty good. This map is also "luck of the draw". Sometimes it will be very big, other times very small.
Mission 2 - Hostage + Boss back - Northwestern Mercy, usually near University Know the 3 locations for the hostages and the many locations for the boss-pack. I will have a map up eventually :-) Split the Brutes up, find Foreman Carl and save him. There are two PTS workers and one Foreman Carl randomly placed in the 3 Hostage spots. Foreman Carl is the only one worth saving. One Brute can handle that no prob. Other Brutes pile on the Boss-pack and boss-pack only. Go for Boss first, then Ghosts. Don't let the Ghosts stealth away.
Mission 3 - Boss Pack + Blinky - Northeastern Mercy, usually No need for sonic to move off portal. Have Brutes walkover/enter. Run through the mission, watching for speech bubble. Have the sound up to listen for blinky on the way. Pile on the Boss pack alone, ignore rest, exit mission ASAP.
Mission 4 - Boss Pack + Blinky - Portal If Assemble Team is still left, use it. This mission is shaped like a cheesy 3rd grade valentine style Heart. You are at the bottom of it, you want to go to where the two sides meet in the middle, but have to do the big loop around. My method for Superspeeding to the end is "Turn left, stay left, enter portal. Make the first right and plow the Boss you find. Pile on the Boss first, then ghosts. If the blinky is near a crystal, or earthquaked, use a temp flypack and get a good angle on it to not be interupted.
Mission 5 - Hostage to Blinky - Portal Know the locations of the Hostage. Find and defeat that pack ONLY. As soon as he talks (Oh no, the villains got me, I will follow one of you) walk him to blinky and ignore rest of badguys. Careful around the elevators. If the blinky is on upper platform, walk the hostage UNDER it.
Mission 6 - 5 Alters, Batzul & Infernal. Split into two superspeeding squads (or more if you can), with ideally one Brute on each (or anything else that can stall for 30 seconds). Sonic Shield everybody up. Crank on your superspeed in duos and head to the alters, one team circling clockwise, other counter-clockwise. Brute (or distractor) jumps into pack, punches some guys, other super-speeder presses alter. When the blinky is pressed, watch the top of the screen to see the counter move, move on to the next tentacle and STOP fighting. When all blinkies are pressed, zone in the fillers, walk them into the portal. Also, have everyone but one Brute run back to the starting portal as well. Have the one Brute jump into the lake of fire where Batzul spawns to make him come out of the fire. Turn OFF Superspeed, turn on Sprint. When you can target batzul, punch him in the face. Jump up the spiked ramp that leads to the portal, using sprint only, and run past Infernal. When you are close enough to High-5 Infernal, turn on Superspeed and high-tail it to the portal. Slap your team high-5, get those sonic shields up, and disruption field up. Batzul and Infernal should now be fighting. Turn around and attack Batzul. About 1 in 10 times Batzul won't make it, or one of the two will fall in the lava. After Batzul goes down, turn on Infernal. Melting AVs is what really puts Sonic above other secondaries. Any Brutes should survive just fine anyway, and sonic shields are pretty good, so I hear. Estimated Time to completion 25 minutes total. -
Thank you for that mini tip. Thanks to Dr_Robert for (hopefully) deciphering it.
Don't worry, I won't stoop to being as low to actually disclose what the solution is. However, this was no tiny change to our Strike Force runs. I suspect our times will shrink significantly. Thank you once again. -
Can you teach me how to single-man stealth 8-player-spawn alters? I can do it if the Teeth are in the right placement and I can hide behind them or the one arm where there is a cliff behind the alter that you can fly behind. But those are luck-based single ones only.
-
Hence the two words before "ideal" :-)
-
Heck, I think 6 Frads and 2 JoJos would be close to ideal. You bring the Frads, I'll bring the JoJos and the know how.
Though, if you want... I'll just wait here and keep posting betterer times with my group of runners :-) -
You are more than welcome to come next time we try and break the 20 minute marker :-)
-
Black Barrier was one of the runners :-)
Certainly we can improve... look at all the mistakes we made! Look at how sloppy we were. -
I'm working on uploading the video of myself and a few others running the Cap Au Diable Strike Force. We really wanted to break 20 minutes THEN post the video. However, I think you will see lots of places where we made mistakes (Mission 6) and one place where we had bad luck (Mission 5 scientist on top floor). Had we done a clean run with good luck, we might have approached 19 minutes flat. Here is some random information:
We used 6 real players and two fillers, thus 8-man spawns.
Superspeed is REALLY important. If you don't have it, you can't keep up.
Cheating is key: We used 1 filler to play with the contact
Cheating is key: We used veteran Recall team twice
Mission one is all about luck and getting the small sized map.
Ghosts are really really annoying.
Know where all the missions are.
Know where all the objectives are.
JoJo is indestructible... please stop telling me I need a thermal or I need Aid Self.
Eating Inspirations is good times.
After you rescue the scientist, walk straight to the computer. Ignore the turdbow.
On mission 6, use the buddy system **/em glares at Captain Hubris**. The buddy system means two people go together, one person distracts the mob, one pushes the alter.
Usually I pull Batzul into Infernal, then kill Batzul, then Infernal. When we have a stacked team like this, we should just push all the alters, plow Infernal, then jump in the fire and plow Bat'zul. Cause really, he's going down before we are.
Disruption Field & JoJo = Insanely Good.
Demonic Aura = Insanely Good.
Making mistakes is ok... look how ugly and uncoordinated we were at times!
The Video!
I apologize for the quality. I rushed the upload. Probably best to shrink it to original size and squint... until I load a better quality version.
Better Quality Video
Downloading and watching it via Veoh TV will be even better quality... I think. -

The Brute Test
Are you unsure if you want to be a Brute? Do you want to get a feel of
what Bruting is like before making one of your own? This test's
purpose is to give you a taste of what being a Brute is all about --
SMASHING stuff. I've outlined a build and a playing strategy that
isn't necessarily the best Brute, or the Brute you would want to make.
However, I believe this Brute's build is the one to give you a true
taste of what being a Brute is about right from level one. The
important thing in this test is "Feel". Yes, I know that's a word for
sissies. But you know, I like the "feeling" I get when beating up
weaklings in dark alleys. This guide will let you know if you like
that "feeling" too -- and it will do this VERY quickly. No, I don't
want you to share your feelings... get lost.
I am JoJo the Bunny. A world renowned actor on a children's television
show. I am **NOT** a hardened criminal who spends his days raging
across the Rogue Isles. Perhaps you've seen me around. I believe in
"Freedom". I'm 6'4, 300lbs and I wear a pink bunny costume. I've been
Bruting for all of my 50 years.
Here's the meat:
Roll a new character and pick a Brute.
Primary Powerset ---> Super Strength
Take "Punch" as your first power.
Secondary Powerset --> Fiery Aura
You must take "Fire Shield".
Playing a Brute is easy. Turn on Fire Shield and leave it on. Run at
something and beat it up. That's it. Sometimes there are too many guys
for you to fight at once and sometimes there are guys a lot stronger
than you. As an experienced Brute allow me to explain that there is NO
shame in beating up the weak and lonely guy you see on the street.
I tell young kid's all the time, "You wanna be a Brute and your
picking on the football player's for their lunch money? What are you
thinking?! See that little guy in the corner alone, go fight him."
As you gain experience you should fill out your punching repertoire
and fighting abilities. Here are my suggested powers for a Brute that
starts off fast and aggressive to complete the "Brute Test"
Haymaker
Healing Flames
Air Superiority (from the Flight Pool, don't worry, it's a two handed whack)
Knockout Blow.
Choose those powers in order as soon as you can. When you are forced
to choose "slots" and not powers, put your slots into your attacks.
Get a total of 3 slots in each attack. Put "Accuracy" and "Endurance
Reduction" enhancements in your attacks and NOTHING else. As a Brute,
the longer you fight the more damage you do. The only thing holding
you back will be your endurance. You want to fight as long as
possible, all the time. Endurance reductions in attacks will help
significantly.
Here is a nerdier breakdown of the Brute Test:
01 => Fire Shield ==> 1xEndCost
01 => Punch ==> 2xEndCost,1xAcc
02 => Haymaker ==> 2xEndCost,1xAcc
04 => Healing Flames ==> 1xRech
06 => Air Superiority ==> 2xEndCost,1xAcc
08 => Knockout Blow ==> 2xEndCost,1xAcc
Remember, this may NOT be the Brute for you. This test is simply a way
to get you into a Brute and get the feel of the Brute in a few short
minutes. After playing your Brute test character read about all the
other cool powers that a Brute can take. There may be a better Brute
out there for you! If you don't like your Brute test character and
don't like his feel and fighting style than it is VERY likely that
being a Brute is not for you. -
Endurance Dysfunction and You!
A guide by JoJo the Bunny to help under performing Brutes everywhere combat the common ailment of Endurance Dysfunction, WITHOUT taking Blue Pills!
(In actuality this is a very serious article about Brutes and how to properly make one. I see many of the same questions posted on these forums and I feel that this guide can answer those questions or provide sound guidance. At the bottom of the article there will be a quick, straight to the point rundown without innuendo. Feel free to skip ahead.)
***********
Does your Brute have trouble going the distance and lasting until the end? Does your Brute feel helpless and alone? Does your Brute have trouble performing in long, heated exchanges?
Hello, my name is JoJo the Bunny. You may remember me from such articles as The Brute Test and State of the Archetype Brutes. Today I am going to be discussing Endurance Dysfunction. Endurance Dysfunction is not a laughing matter. Many Brutes struggle to stay in the fight until the end. Today I am going to be discussing the common symptoms of E.D. and the best ways to prevent E.D from affecting you.
One can tell when a Brute is suffering from E.D. when they are unable to last until the end. If you have, or know a Brute who simply gets too tired to keep going then you know a Brute who suffers from E.D. Often a Brute is able to start a fight hard and strong, but just as they build Fury and the fight is building to a raging climax E.D. sets in and they are unable to finish. A simple way to combat E.D. is to take Blue Pills, however, there are other options for Brutes today.
The most important way to combat E.D. is taking proper care of your Brute. Many Brutes think damage is everything or I want to hit harder or I want to swing faster when taking care of their Brutes. This type of thinking is the main cause for Endurance Dysfunction, especially for young Brutes who have yet to build up Stamina. Instead of focusing on Damage or Recharge, a Brute should first focus on Accuracy and Endurance Reduction. By focusing on Endurance and Accuracy, especially pre-Stamina, a Brute can last longer in fights, build up more fury, and deal more damage over the long battle.
Remember, E.D. is not a laughing matter and it affects many Brutes. However, you can help prevent Endurance Dysfunction by remind Brutes to focus on Accuracy and Endurance Reduction in their primary powers first. Keep your Brutes lasting longer and stronger!
*********************
Every Brute, everywhere should follow this basic outline I'm about to disclose when starting their Brute. This basic outline is based on Feel and personal preference. The outline is focused on creating a new Brute. As you level up your Brute you can begin to deviate from the outline based on your personal preferences. However, I cannot see a viable reason why a Brute would not want to begin with any other system in place.
First Step: Get an attack Chain.
An attack chain is a series of powers that a Brute, or any Hero/Villain, would use in succession to continuously attack. As a Brute, you want to have enough attack powers to be firing them off one after the other with little or no down-time. If your primary powerset does not have satisfactory powers to your liking, feel free to add in wonderful powers such as Air Superiority from the flight pool (simply amazing) or Boxing from the fighting pool (which leads to Tough and Weave). Most Brutes will want between 3 and 5 single target attacks as their attack chain and many are able to get these powers very early. How many and which attacks you want in your attack chain depends on your powerset and personal preference.
Second Step: Slot your attack chain
In terms of slotting, every Brute's main priority should be getting 4 slots in each of the attacks in their attack chain. Slotting anywhere else is significantly less of a priority. Into these slots a Brute should first place two accuracy and then two endurance reduction to start with. One should have no problem selling common magic salvage on the market or enhancements they find while fighting to obtain these Enhancements at early Training Origin levels. Damage and Recharge are far less important as Endurance and Accuracy. All Brutes have Fury which adds significantly more damage than any Damage Enhancements could at low levels. By slotting Endurance Reductions in attacks, a Brute is able to maximize the time they are fighting as opposed to resting and thus maintain a high level of Fury, Damage and SMASH!
A quick mathematical rundown of why slotting Endurance in attack powers as opposed to toggle shields first. Though, one can still slot Endurance reductions into the shields, but slotting into Primary powers will accomplish more and is thus more of a priority.
These numbers are all based on me eyeballing Mid's Hero Builder and may be slightly off. Even if slightly off the general idea will be obvious:
Endurance per second, unslotted:
Punch (Super Strength) if used continuously: 1.18/second
Nimble Slash (Dual Blades) 1.15/second
Stone Mallet (Stone) : 0.9/second
Dark Embrace (Dark Armor): 0.2/second
Charged Armor (Electric): 0.26/second
Mind over Body (Willpower): 0.26/second
Thus, roughly, each attack costs 4 times as much as a shield. Of course, you won't be able to attack at those rates continuously. However, you can use multiple attack powers one after the other. Assuming you only use Punch or your attack power (singular) half as much as you could over 10 seconds, you would still use twice the endurance as a shield over 10 seconds. Therefore, I HIGHLY suggest slotting endurance into attack powers as a main priority. -

3) The change will not be rolled back so that the exploit can resume. That would be dumb.
If the change is rolled back, it will be because the fix breaks something else worse or because the fix mechanically doesn't work or because the fix plain doesn't solve any problems.
[/ QUOTE ]
What exploit, exactly, are you referring to? Soft-loading Task Forces so they can be solo'd? Let's see, I've heard people mention soloing or softloading...
1) Positron
2) Cap Au Diable
3) Lord Recluse
4) Statesman
1) Is this a bad thing? If someone wants to solo the 600 missions of positron is that so bad?
2) If the goal is to prevent Fast Cap Runs.... 22:47?
3) What exactly do you softload on this one? The Freedom Phalanx still shows up 8 strong against 1 player. I heard people soft-load the first one as a workaround for getting the scientist on an elevator. Sounds like an exploit thats good.
4) Does soft-loading help against Lord Recluse or the Patrons?
So what exactly does this fix accomplish? Encouraging people to team at the cost of Pick-Up teams DREADING one person dropping/leaving mid-task force? I think that's too steep of a price to accomplish so little. -
Thread summation:
Devs : [M]aintaining [group] requirement is the reason for this change.
Players: Either that's not 100% true, or you are being very silly in thinking this change will encourage grouping.
I don't want to go as far as saying "you are lying or stupid" because I like many of the things the Devs do. The devs do a lot of great work and actually listen to user input. I applaud them for their hard work. But if saying "you are lying or stupid" will get this all sorted out and have a happy ending... you are lying or stupid. -
I do not understand this change. I do not like this change.
"[M]aintaining [group] requirement is the reason for this change." However, I do not see how this change encourages all forms of teaming (grouping).
This change discourages "pick-up group" Task/Strike Forces. One would not want to start a TF with players who they do not know to be reliable. If several team members quit, a TF may be doomed to failure. This punishment for disconnect or quitters, will in my opinion, DISCOURAGE grouping. Therefore, this fix goes against its stated intent.
A **speculated** intent of this fix was to prevent softloading. Will preventing soft-loading actually prevent running TFs for speed/recipes? In my opinion, the players who do soft-load are going for time. I am one such player who softloads Cap Au Diable Strike Forces for time and rewards. Yes, this fix will make running those strike forces, solely for the recipe, slightly longer. However, this will **NOT** stop players like me from being able to quickly complete Task Forces for recipes. My SF runner is MORE than capable of annihilating four player spawns with minimal time impact. Therefore, the speculated intent of this TF may succeed in stopping some forms of Soft-loading, but not all. Once again not fulfilling its intent.
The old form of Task Forces encouraged people to team with players who they did not know. If a person quit or was disconnected, the team could press on knowing that missing that team member (or members) would not be devastating on their chances of success. The price for this style is that some Task Forces were solo-able. I think solo-ability is a fair price for ENCOURAGING pick up group Task Forces.
Perhaps there is an intent to this Task Force change that I have not seen. What is that intent? Currently, the ONLY benefits of this change I see is that it ENABLES players to battle larger spawn sizes than they would normally be able to. -
I think this will add between 2 and 8 minutes to my Virgil Run times.
So now I can use purples, but have to beat 4 players worth of baddies. Sounds fair :-)
