And btw purple prices are going crazy,The drop rate needs to be adjusted.
[/ QUOTE ]
You do realize that causing purples to drop more would cause EVERY other item to increase in price.... right? -
Can you get Purples from Developer Choice arcs in MA... assuming all other criteria are met?
-
It's either SS/Shield or SS/Fire for AoE purposes.
Burn probably gives SS/Fire more mathematical damage. Shield Charge probably gives /Shield more effective damage. -
and... like... if they don't... you know... pick a low enough number the sellers might ... like... get screwed over and never... you know... sell their stuff.
Then sellers would have to... you know... list the item and pay fees again.
Dude, it's like there's balance man. It's like sellers and buyers both set the price. Woah. -

I'll provide some pictures. Here is some stuff I bought a long time ago. I've just been too lazy to sell it. Mostly due to apathy. The normal site I upload pictures to is currently offline. You may need to zoom in and/or squint.
Flip Picture #1 Items bought Pre-Issue 14. Villainside
First Item: 3 Stacks
Second Item: 2 Stacks
Third Item: 2 Stacks
Fourth Item: 1 Stack
Flip Picture #2 Items bought Pre-Issue 13. Obviously these pictures were edited to place the last 5 window over the description. Each item is pictured individually. Villainside
Flip Picture #3 The first item was one of my flipping expirements. The item was worth 10,000 at the time. I bought roughly 50 to 100 stacks of 10 (yes, really) at 30,000. Heroside
The other items I bought Pre-Issue 14. Heroside
Second Item: 2 Stacks
Third Item: !6 Stacks!
Fourth Item: 2 Stacks
Fifth Item: 3 Stacks
As a sidenote. I had a discussion with a certain person who I will not name. Let's call them "Mediator 7 plus 1". Please, do not name names if you think you may able to figure out this riddle. He asked pre-Issue 14 if I was betting on anything. I said I was betting on Silver Recipes. He was skeptical. Things did not look good for me at the initial I14 release. Steadily my position has improved. Some items were losers. -

"Load Options from File" "Save Options to File"
How about putting all the "Saves" on one side and putting all the "Loads" on the other. Currently, two saves are on the left, one save is on the right. -
How to Pull:
1) Stand next to team mates.
2) Push Team Teleport.
3) Click enemy pack. -
A key concept to remember here is "synergy". Synergy means "the whole is greater than the sum of the parts." I'll make up some numbers and create an example to demonstrate synergy and "not synergy".
Let's say a Fire/Kin Controller gives 100 miles per hour worth of levels when played solo. Two Fire/Kins going 2 different ways go 200 MPH (we'll ignore team size etc. etc.). That's not synergy. That's the total being equal to the sum of the parts.
Now take those two Fire/Kins and have them work together in the same direction. If they go 200MPH or slower it is not synergy. If they go greater than 200MPH than there is synergy.
I know, from experience and nerdy statistical testing, that SS/Fire Brute + Fire/Kin Corruptor is synergistic. My nerdy numbers have Fire/Psy Dominator doing 117 MPH solo, an SS/Fire Brute doing 115, and my Corruptor doing maybe 70. The Brute and the Corruptor working together do not do 115 + 70 = 185, however. Working together these two go about 250 MPH. Synergy is involved. Fulcrum Shift let's the Brute do vastly more damage. The Brute going in first and soaking in the fire allows the Corruptor to fire with reckless abandon. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Synergy.
I haven't done tests nor taken numbers on any other duos. Do you think some of these duos are truly synergistic? Will the duos you suggested be superior to two Fire/Kins going two different ways? According to all the numbers I've taken yes, a Fire/Kin Cor and a SS/Fire Brute will go faster than any two archetypes on either side going two different ways, including Fire/Kin controllers. -
I have two brothers that play. We have a lot of silly and ridiculous trios. In City of Heroes everything works. I suggest each of you decide on something interesting and crazy and different from each other and learn. You can always make more Heroes and Villains. Try out lots of things. Figure out what's fun
-
This suggestion is almost "eliminate endurance".
-
Howl isn't enough AoE. Fire Ball and Rain of Fire allow a Corruptor to do as much damage as a Brute. Fulcrum Shift simply is too good to pass up. If I was adding a 3rd to the team I'd likely add a Sonic or another Brute. Though I've never compared running with a 3rd.
-
I'm not sure about Heroside. Villainside it depends on Mission Architect or non-MA. Non-MA SS/Fire + Fire/Kin with unlimited budget builds are pretty far and away at the top of the class. I think they pretty easily outshine any heroside duo as well. In MA, two Fire/Psy Dominators doing maps full of Fake Nemesis takes the cake. The current proposition of Dominator changes would change little.

Luck of the Gambler Increased recharge is #1 in direct purchase. Random Gold Recipe Rolls are worth as much or more on average. You are extremely likely to achieve that average or close to that average in 10 rolls... which is how much buying the Luck of the Gambler itself costs.

According to what you just said, without any of those you can't complete this SF.
While any TF blueside you could be braindead & still win so long you have your team there, including there Big Boy STF, the STF is 500x easier then LRSF.
So no random PuG can do this, unlike Blue where its high favors a Random PuG will do this.
If I go in to LRSF with 2 Brutes(Non Granite) Say a Dark Miasma & Pain Corrupter, 2 Doms(Non Mind) & 1 Stalker & 1 MM who say is poison.
Odds are they won't complete this(Because its a PuG you can guess half team if not 90% of them doesnt have a Shivan or Nukes.)
So without very specific combinations, Its going be undo-able, this leaves every other AT power combination that isnt what you need for LRSF out in the Cold, unless you got a pity spot.

Why does everyone seem to think Nukes and Shivans are mandatory temps needed for anything hard?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because at least for the LRSF... they are required. Unless you feel like gambling that it will get finished... which means that you just wasted a coouple of hours.
Now 15 people are about to try and shout me down about how they're not required, but when *I* sign up for the LRSF [which isnt often these days], I enter with nukes and Shivans regardless of what they have to say. And there have been times when my nukes and shivans saved the day. If others want to enter with no temp powers, that's ok; its their SF.
I like hedging my bets. Also, people may quit, and I need an ace or three up my sleeve when they do.
[/ QUOTE ]
What you just said doesn't mean they're required, it means you like to have them and feel like you won't get invited if you don't. "Required" means either "you are guaranteed to fail" or "you won't even get an invite", neither of which is at all true. Proof? Master of Lord Recluse's Strike Force.
It has nothing to do with gambling, and everything to do with people who know what they're doing. If you haven't figured that out, it may account for your difficulties.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, if three-four people quit out of a team of eight, this means that the team "did not know what they are doing." Hmmm. And same for trying to pull one of the Freedumb Phalanx and having them arrive as a group: if you "know what you are doing," this will never happen.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't understand how what you said relates to what he said. You seem to be just making up silly excuses. One of my personal favorite excuses is "the sun was in my eyes."
Next time someone states that "shivans and nukes aren't required" and you say "nuh uh 3 or 4 people quit and pulling the freedom phalanx" as some type of irrelevant response I think you should instead say "the sun was in my eyes." It's equally stupid, pointless and similarly does nothing to address the statements made to you but at least "the sun was in my eyes" has a certain comedic value.
*EDIT*
And yes, people who quit do not know what they are doing. Obviously. Quitting is not a good strategy to complete a Task Force. -
I'd also like to add, as a side comment, that my initial train of thought for selling level pacts was this...
1. These Thug/Storm Masterminds were awesome and fun. I should make another team like that.
2. But they leveled too fast. I wish they leveled slower.
3. I could level pact them to dead-weights to slow them down.
4. I could give some of my friends 50s while slowing them down.
5. I could give the highest bidders 50s and make a pile of Infamy/Influence while slowing me down. -

-cough- -blink- Somebody explain to me how pl'ing pact'd chars makes you 'good at the game'. IMO that doesn't add up.
It's not like your headshotting 100% or taking over the world with france... your just exploiting an xp loophole. Thats not skill.
[/ QUOTE ]
He wants to take a full group into missions with the toughest boss mobs made by the Devs.
How is that an xp loophole?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm going to readily admit I might have gotten lost in here somewhere since I've been reading like 10 threads and hunting down Lost but I'd swear he said something about pacting with a buncha offline chars during this uber XP running debacle in an attempt to get them to 50 in like 10 hours.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fair enough - it's hard to follow 10 threads at once.
He did indicate that people could level pact once he has it set up.
So, is the level pact the problem?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm going to go ahead and answer this honestly, since I'm borderline retarded and you can all do whatever.
It's not pacting. It's not doing things as intended. Pacting wasn't intended to be used for this purpose. Everybody knows that, and if you claim to not know that I'm going to flatly call you a lair. Pacting was so two people could always enjoy the same content together more or less. Thats a little simplified I know.
I mean, you CAN run out and slap a 5 year old right now and run away and I'm pretty sure you'll get away with it, but you're not going to because you're not supposed to, it's wrong, and you know it.
Anyway have fun with that. Flame on. Yes I know you're going to have a field day with the word intended. Enjoy. Come to think of it you'll probably have a field day with my analogy too.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have a problem with your inability to go past one issue to consider others. You saw one problem and simply made a blanket statement.
*EDIT* I have done level pact sales before. They were not considered abuse at the time. If they were considered abuse I would respect the decision and not take such actions.
A simple statement of "this is abuse and please don't do it" is what I am asking for. This simple statement is my purpose. I don't want to take an action and get my characters deleted or my account banned. I especially don't want this to occur when someone could simply tell me "don't do it" before I started.
That is why I have begun posting situations that I may or may not do. I would like a simply "don't do this" before I do some of these things. I find it problematic, revolting, pathetic, and ridiculous that you attempted to answer these questions and thoughts without even reading them. -
[ QUOTE ]
Well then as a support character, do you think controller mind/empathy would do okay in groups?
[/ QUOTE ]
Everything pretty much does ok everywhere in City of Heroes. I have a Mind/Empathy. I find him very enjoyable. -

I also suggested making a Fire/Rad team that will level just as fast in Developer choice mission. I also stated that I play two characters at the same time and I play them with no follow, autofire or any assistance whatsoever. I did not specify playing them in any particular place. Let's say I run standard contact and Strike Force content. -

So your reply is "No, I'm not going to tell you if all or only some of the things you proposed are abuse"? Seems to be a common theme.

I will absolutely tell you. Every thing you said is abusive behavior in my opinion if memory serves. But you know that. Now you say 'how exactly is x y z abusive'
[/ QUOTE ]
Thank you for your opinion. I am surprised you consider simply being good at this game abuse. Good luck in City of Heroes and life. We won't be in contact with one another. -

NCSoft employees don't need to be alerted to anything. If an AE or non-AE mission proves bloatrous in its returns, it will get pulled. If a player abuses (there's that word again) AE or certain missions, it will become common knowledge and that player will get a temp ban.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am sure that you are an astute and intelligent individual. Would you please be so kind as to point out if YOU personally feel that any of my plans are considered "abuse"? I'm sure that a rational and reasonable person such as yourself would have no problem with someone who is truly, honestly, and openly attempting not to cause any "abuse."
[/ QUOTE ]
Hrmph. You know it's abuse. You're going out of your way to be abusive of the system and to make a point of it. You know that too.
Now go on, say something like 'Could you explain exactly how it's abuse'.
[/ QUOTE ]
Is everything that I've suggested so far abuse? Could you please point out if any aren't abuse? How about if I organized a Fire/Rad Controller team and we went from 1-50 in 6-8 hours of playtime through developer choice maps? How about if I do that with my Thug/Storms?
I believe there are players on these forums who consider my mere existence "abuse" in City of Heroes. -
After mission 4 don't exit. Drop an Ouroboros portal. Everyone go to Ouroboros.
Clean out your inspiration tray other than big candies to use instead of the following...
4 Greens, 4 Oranges, 8 Purples, 1 Awaken, 1 Break Free, 1 Green
Enter the final mission. Everyone stand next to each other. Take a deep breath. Start team buffing. Eat 4 Purples and 4 Oranges. Give a battle yell. Charge Numina.
If you don't have to stand in melee then don't stand in melee. Shoot Numina until she dies. When your inspirations blink eat 4 more purples. Use the greens or the column of Awaken, BF, Green Blue if you got to. Numina must die.
If everyone dies go to Ouroboros and try again. Take out the girls before the boys. -

Problem is, other buff/debuff sets set the bar too high for Empathy. It's just not that good a set.
[/ QUOTE ]
I feel like you and I must play a different game. This forum is for City of Heroes, right? Here is where Empathy gets Fortitude, Regeneration Aura, Recovery Aura, Clear Mind and Adrenaline Boost, right? -
I think you should pick three different archetypes with three different powersets. Mix it up. Learn different things. See a lot of what City of Heroes has to offer.
I also have two brothers who like to play City of Heroes. We have a lot of crazy combos and super ridiculous insanely crazy trios. However, I don't think you want to try for one of those trios quite yet. For now just play something fun and learn what you, subjectively and personally, enjoy most about the game.
My brothers and I are all a little different. I like super fast action. One likes really big explosions. The third likes really complicated crazy off the wall stuff.
So my suggestion is to pick three guys who are as different sounding as you can. Give yourself and each of your brothers a chance to try wild and crazy things. You can always make new and different heroes later!
