Just for the record my stone armor brute is 7 seconds away from perma hasten... While in granite form.. Runs faster than damn near everyone while in granite. (of course ss is faster) ... I have a simple macro that combines everything into reds and that plus my double rage, in almost always at damage cap... Not to mention the near perma hasten again... So I can damage as good as the rest of them... I'm done with the argument... Apparently none of you have an IO'd out SA. Go do some research in mids. Ciao.
[/ QUOTE ]
Double Rage is generally a bad idea on Brutes. Why don't you eat all those reds and not crash every 60 seconds?
*EDIT*
Please run us some Herostats on you soloing you Stone Armor Brute. I would love to see some actual data to compare to. -
The way soloing the wall spews Inspirations anything with a big pile of AoE attacks works fine.

They should all be of easy access to lowbies BECAUSE they are common. They should be able to do exactly what you just said, but they can't.

This simply isn't true. I don't know what to say. You can street sweep and get expensive salvage. You can go to the AE and ticket roll for 8 tickets each. You can just play the game and find that salvage.
[ QUOTE ]
I was a part of the "Kill Skullz" movement and I do miss it... the problem is how are you supose to be crafting your nifty enhs when you get 10 pieces of salvage worth 200inf on WW/BM and need another 10 that are worth 100k+?

If that is your experience I suggest not taking any elevators, crossing any streets, and please don't use the garbage disposal. -
I think I've found the ideal server for me
The server mostly contains people who are not concerned with earning experience. I can play with any City of Heroes player so no worrying about eventually spreading myself to every live server. New and exciting things are sometimes there and nowhere else. Test. -
[ QUOTE ]
You forgot to say that if you're new to the game, you probably won't be able to buy friggin' common salvage unless you AE farm for it (for the inf to buy it, I mean)...
[/ QUOTE ]
No he didn't. That is a terrible misconception spread by those who are unable to grasp the concept "Go hunt. Kill skullz."
If you play the game you will find items. Some of those items are common salvage. You can then sell those common salvages on the market. Then you can buy common salvage on the market. -

so just got to level 12 on my claw/da scrapper on virtue and so far my experience has been pretty good.
1-8 i basically did solo, but once i moved into hollows i got invited to some mission running teams and this is where the real fun is. I shot up to 12 really quickly.
I like the combat since it usually quick and has a lot of eye candy when you have a big group of people attacking the same things.
I love the look of the hollows, so much better running around there then Atlas park.
The only thing i wish there was more of, is chatter in broadcast. All i usually see if everyone looking for AEs.
Anyway, if anyone is on and is bored and whats to group my names Aiion see you guys in game!

I stalked you and saw you rolled on Virtue. There is a lot less AE Farm chatter in global channels. Some of the big ones on Virtue are...
/chanjoin VU2009
/chanjoin "Virtue TFs"
/chanjoin Virtuebadges09
/chanjoin "Virtue LFG Alpha"
Some of these channels have specific purposes. I play on several servers and am kind of quirky. My playstyle is very fast paced, very chaotic, and solely done for the purpose of seeing stuff blow up. I can answer questions on any topics you like in game and often play on virtue

You have found 9 since May 1st 2007. That is 805 days. That's one every 90 days or roughly one every 3 months.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but I'm a *casual* player....
Imagine how much more the hardcore TF farmer is earning and turning around for profit at market day after day, week after week, month after month... Given the volume of TF farmers operating on any given day in this game, there's always going to be purple recipes/IO's available at market as a result. All the more reason the pricing should go down...
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean prices should go down when more people are now playing content that cannot drop purples?
I don't think it is a coincidence that Purple prices have significantly risen when players have a greater ability to produce inf relative to their ability to produce Purples.
Supply goes down, price goes up. That's all we are seeing here. -

If TF farmers insist on putting the extra time in to loot ultra rare items (not that anybody asked them to do so), then of course they should be compensated appropriately. But when we start talking about spending "millions" or even "billions" of inf. for an ultra rare item...
[/ QUOTE ]Okay, answer this question: How much should the ULTRA RAREST and MOST POWERFUL loot in this game go for? Remember, this is called "ultra rare"... not just rare but ultra!
Give me a number, now.
[/ QUOTE ]
Minimum? 5 million.
Tops? 20 million tops.
Any more, and I think the asking price is unreasonable (but again that's my own perception - others may disagree). And I say that because there are a lot of semi-rare lvl 50 recipes and IOs that have devalued to the point that they're not worth more than 50k minimum to 2 million maximum.
That's why I say purples should start at 5 million. Its all a matter of perspective and competitive pricing.
[/ QUOTE ]
I wish you ran the market. Since I usually make a billion influence every 7 to 10 days, I'd be able to buy up every single purple ever created and never let anyone else have them. Hell, at these prices, I'd just start destroying them for S&Gs.
[/ QUOTE ]
But I can and want to do that tooHow do the market gods divide the purples? Do we draw lots? Do we have to stand in line? Is it done by "need"?
Maybe we could just give it to the person willing to pay the most. -
Issue 9, titled Breakthrough, was a major revision to City of Heroes and City of Villains released on Tuesday, May 1, 2007.
You have found 9 since May 1st 2007. That is 805 days. That's one every 90 days or roughly one every 3 months.
They are also some of the most desired, most coveted and most powerful IOs in the game. How is it "irrational" or "unreasonable" that they are so expensive? -
I don't think you understand the words "reasonable" and "rationale".
How many purples have you ever found? I don't think you have a grasp on how few of these drop in the game and how long it takes one to obtain a Purple recipe. The price reflects this rarity. -

Ok, let's stop it there a sec and clear something up:
"Ultra rare" items are fine.
Hysterical pricing of "ultra rare" items is not fine.
Yeah, the TF farmer puts in extra time to earn these drops but a casual player has as much right and opportunity as a hardcore TF farmer to earn a rare purple drop and strike "auction house gold" even if they only run a TF once (I had it happen a couple of times during the few times I've run TF's in the past year) -- so let's stop slinging these back-handed "entitlement" persnicketies starting now and try conversing like mature, rational adults.
Gang, I honestly can't tell you why it's insane to pay this much for *anything* in-game (either common or ultra rare) - but if you think its fine, great. If you don't, that's fine too. If TF farmers insist on putting the extra time in to loot ultra rare items (not that anybody asked them to do so), then of course they should be compensated appropriately. But when we start talking about spending "millions" or even "billions" of inf. for an ultra rare item...
Well, IMHO, that's just narrow-minded crazy talk.
Collecting ultra rares should not be the highest priority for playing this game. Hell, becoming a TF farmer should not be a high priority for playing this game - but it is.... and that priority evolved in the absence of new content and folks struggling to find something else to keep their time occupied.
Well, guess what: there's new content coming.
A lot of new and returning players are going to come back to COX when Going Rogue goes live - and they are not going to touch this in-game economy with a ten-foot pool if it keeps looking like this. But they will play around it - and they will trade around it if the new content is good enough - and eventually future supplies of ultra rare items are going to dwarf anything we're seeing now -
And prices will drop.
For this reason alone, try looking ahead to GR and see that there's absolutely no reason to pay 9-digit millions or even billions for an ultra rare item *right this second.* Farm all you want if that's how you want to pass your time, but try to keep the pricing realistic in the meanwhile.
That's all I'm saying - no harm done, no offense meant.
[/ QUOTE ]
It's not hysterical pricing. That is the issue you are unable to comprehend. Players are willing and able to pay those prices. Thus, that is what the price becomes. Simply put: the proof is on the market. Other players, through their actions of paying the prices, deem those prices not hysterical.
Wentworth's and the Black Markets are competitive Market places. The nature is the highest bid wins. Enough people are willing and able to pay those prices that excess inventory does not build up. That is a sign that from an economic perspective, "the price is not too high."
If players as a whole deemed those prices "hysterical" enough would not buy them that inventory on the market would build up. There are items on the market where this situation occurs. Purple recipes is not one of them.
If you believe that purples should be more available to more players than you should complain to the developers at drop rate. -

Best farm or AOE brute for boss spawns would be SS/SA. IO'd out, they are unstoppable!
Best farm or AOE brute for LT's is either SS/SD or SS/FA. I've never seen a good SS/FA but I have a fully IO'd out SS/SD and he absolutely murders LT's!
[/ QUOTE ]
You could take your Fire Armor Brute against Fire Blast bosses. Then you'd be equally unstoppable, have more damage tools and not have the penalties of Granite.
[/ QUOTE ]
True, however AE centric it may be. For a more diverse and unstopable boss killer, I vote stone armor. Granites penalties are easily nullified with some nice IO's.
[/ QUOTE ]
And just think of how awesome any other Brute would be with those IOs and no penalty. I've repeatedly shown that many Brutes can handle the same circumstances that Stone do without billion IO builds.
If you want to afk, not use inspirations and don't care about killing things then use Stone. If you aren't actually good at using your primary powers or other things and die all the time use Stone. If you have the ability to learn from your mistakes and utilize the tools available to you... make anything else. -
Highest bid takes pairs with lowest sale price if bid price is equal or higher than sale price.
[ QUOTE ]
Then a buyer tells the market what the most is that they are willing to buy an item for (the buy bid or just bid). If the bid is the same or higher than the offer, then the market completes the sale at the bid price (minus 10% for the market fee).
Ill repeat this because its so important to the rest of the guide. If I offer an item for S inf, and you bid B inf to buy it, as long as B is greater or equal to S, the sale will complete and Ill receive B inf (minus 10%).
Heres the most important part if someone else had offered up the same item for S 1 inf, then that person would have been the one to make the sale for B -10% inf.
Corollary to this is that if two people put up a sales offer at the same S Inf, then the market randomly selects which bidder wins.
So, youre goal as the seller is to have the lowest offer price when the buy bid is placed.
[/ QUOTE ]
In this area of the guide you need to stress that the HIGHEST bid prices currently placed wins the item if it is higher than the reserve price.
[ QUOTE ]
So, I Just List Everything for 1 Then, Right?
Well ... No. That would be a bad idea. The reason is that if someone comes along and puts in a Bid at 2 Inf, then they would win your item and buy it for that piddly amount.
[/ QUOTE ]
If they are the currently highest bid. -

You didn't stack enough holds. Check my numbers on page 3 of this thread. You need to stack 11 Holds in about 34 seconds. That requires over 200% Global Recharge. You can get by with a little less if you get some IO set bonuses or overslot your hold to increase your duration. Telekinesis would also help, but you may need a couple Minions around for Drain Psyche to keep your blue bar up.
Next time, grab a Temporary Power: Power Analyzer Mk III and see how much Hold you're stacking.

How would the Mind/Fire listed previously handled endurance? Are Stamina, Domination and IOs enough? Could a Mind/Fire have a better shot? -

I'm not going to read this whole thread, but if you are paying over 600mil for a purple set your crazy. The prices will eventually come down, because that little bit of extra accuracy or recharge really isn't worth 600 million ...
I have a blaster with soft capped ranged defense, and 170% global recharge, about 1 second shy from having perma hasten. I have some purple sets, but these are the cheaper purple sets such as sleep or stun. If I were to get the Armageddon and the Ragnarok sets, it would give me an extra 6% recharge roughly, and cost me over 1.2 billion. To me, 6% recharge is not worth 1.2 billion.
My suggestion to everyone is if you don't want to spend 600mil+ on a single set, use mids, and plan your build so you can slot purples from the cheaper purple sets - holds, stuns, and sleep. You can make due with 6.25 - 7.5 set recharges and the 7.5 global recharge from LoTG. I was able to get 5 of those for 60mil a piece.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've got 600M+ Inf. I want IOs. Why not spend it? What would be a better alternative for my Inf? Answer to your response: I've already spent money there. -
I've got some questions...
On a Stalker I think I really really want Waterspout. Sadly, Patrons for Stalkers either get Waterspout OR the Snipe. I'd have to range slot a single target attack to use Waterspout. I think that's cool with me.
1. Do I want Waterspout more than a Snipe? Is Water Spout going to be super duper good?
2. Do I want to have Assassin Strike? Will it be good DPS? Will I need placate to use it? My brother joked I should have done this on test in one of the previous versions of the stalker buffs. Would have been so easyAssume maximum recharge unlimited budget build that can spam any attack it wants.
3. Do AVs run from Caltrops? If not is Caltrops great DPS? If so will Caltrops slow them enough that I can still chain my attacks and get bonus damage?
4. Blinding Powder. Smoke Flash. Placate. Touch of Fear. Shadow Maul. I'm not getting a strong feeling on any of these. Skip them all?
5. Summon Guardian. Is this guy melee? Will he die instantly? Do I want him?
6. Any other thoughts? Assume infinite IOs of any type, all the accolades and all the temp powers. Do I have a chance? -
SS is a late blooming primary. The AoE doesn't come until level 32. Dual Blades has several knockdowns and several cones and most importantly you get to tell the kids "YOU GET TWO SWORDZ!" Nearly all the attacks are good and can be taken in Dual Blades so basically they have oodles of buttons to mash without Hasten/Recharge IOs.
Pretty much all the Corruptor secondaries are amazing. Thermal or sonic are pre-emptive so if you tend to lose sight of the kids that might be the best bet. The shields are already on them you don't have to follow them to debuff the enemies they may encounter on their own. On the other hand Dark or Rad or Storm turn all the enemies into trash cans. Dark getting it's slow super early, Storm in the middle but it has Knockdown and Rad the latest but it gets all that other Rad goodness.
I'd lean towards Sonic/Thermal or Dark because they bloom the earliest. I think early blooming is a key attribute. -
[ QUOTE ]
except you don't have to spam it at all to be more numerically useful than Frostworks, only 2 to 3 times within 190 seconds, which is basically in between fights which makes the cast time and interrupt time irrelevant anyway or the need for either power.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then cast Frostowrks on those people you would heal before the fight. Same effect. They have a bonus XXX amount of Hit Points.
[ QUOTE ]
No one is going to take a burst hit above their base hp with Cold's Def shields in normal missions anyway unless they are deliberately trying to get themselves killed.
[/ QUOTE ]
Perhaps all your teammate always wait patiently and meticulously plot and scheme every battle. My teammate and I always charge in manically and get huge amounts of aggro.
[ QUOTE ]
For STF and RSF the only person getting hit like that is the tanker or brute and they will HP capped or already close to it by that point anyway. What very little benefit it brings is negated by common IOs, armor powersets, and accolades at the only place it's even remotely needed, at the end game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Brutes: 1500 Hit Point Base at level 50. 20% From the Accolades goes to 1800 Hit Points. 3 Heal Slotted Dull Pain goes to 2700. Still 600 Below the cap.
Tanks: 1875 Base. 2250 Accolades. Capped with Dull Pain
But not all the sets have a +HP power. Few people have all the accolades.
Thus, very big benefit for most people. I guess some people just play the game differently. Personally I like to shoot stuff instead of always avoiding ever getting shot at by following behind some big ugly dude. Frostworks is an excellent "Here now you gotta better shot at surviving power" for nearly everyone in the game except for the few exceptions that somehow flood every team of some players. -
I think I've figured it out. I've come up with what I think has the best chance of soloing the LRSF with or without Temp Powers. The idea is so ludicrous and so seemingly stupid it just might work.
The answer may astound you. I know when I first thought of it I laughed. Then with further thought I realized it just might work. A dark and ninjitsu stalker just might do the trick. He'll have stealth and a snipe to single pull. Soft capped defense and two self heals. I can show down on oranges. Waterspout can significantly help with damage and temp powers can push me over the top.
So how ludicrous is my idea? Can anyone think of anything better?
Low and behold I already have one at 50 on FreedomI used the toon to hold extra level 50 missions. Once we only had 7 people for a Masters of LRSF run so we used that guy as a filler. So he's already got the Masters badge. Freedom means I can easily jack him full of temp powers. A super build to come.
-
I consider the auction closed. I'll be rolling the toon and collecting the money as soon as possible. I'm not sure if I can even think of any other toons I simply want as 50s and don't want to play normally.

I am aware that there are no Inf caps in real life.
I don't know what to say. I fail to understand how you cannot grasp the "use it or lose it" concept and how an Inf cap is not related to Infaltion or Deflation. An inf cap changes the % of money people spend verse save and how willing they are to spend their money. The amount of money created in the system does not change.... unless you are at the cap... which you can avoid by spending the money... hence... -

Right. But an enforced inf cap would create a deflationary cycle, just as if the gov't stopped printing money tomorrow.
