There are so many things I could say to that. Good luck.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I should give up on both of you.

I really can't believe anyone can sit there and argue your positions with a straight face.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am just as incredulous as you, but from the opposite perspective.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes but my perspective has a 1000 years of jurisprudence and cultural norms behind it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Funny, the vast majority of the player base had NO TROUBLE understanding the the rules, and approved of Positron's message because they themselves saw the problem and had no trouble whatsoever understanding what he said. The vast majority of the playerbase has enough common sense to determine what is and is not an exploit, has enough reading comprehension skill to understand the rules, and enough literacy to comprehend Positron's post. The vast majority of the player base isn't left saying "BUT they haven't told us what the rules are!" because they did just that, but they take a small amount of common sense to comprehend.

So maybe, since the vast majority of the player base is having no trouble understanding this but you are... maybe, just maybe....

    it's YOU.

8 man teams on the second lowest setting. The only thing that changes is the enemies being level 50 vs 52 when on the highest difficulty setting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Second lowest setting? So Challenge Level 2? That means it's spawning foes for your group size +1.

Challenge Levels 2 and 4 will spawn larger groups.

That is just idiocy. I play this game to escape from responsibility not take on more.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Cool. If you can't accept a reasonable amount of responsibility for your own actions, you have two options. Quit the game or play in terror. The devs aren't going to go over it pixel by pixel with you. Deal.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This IS what it boils down to really.

Put up or shut up. Either leave the game in a ragequit or just shut up and play nice and accept the rules as they have been presented. If they're not clear enough for you, then either play however you want and be prepared for the consequences of your illiteracy or simply leave the game. It's your choice. But you're NOT going to get your way and have the devs say "we're sorry, we think farming and powerleveling is great and we're just going to let everyone do whatever they want". It isn't going to happen. You can't win this fight. Deal with it.
  4. [ QUOTE ]
Nothing huh? Has anyone checked out the Arc? It's not mine or a friends just so everyone knows. I'm not plugging it just trying to figure out how they did it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What difficulty are you running on?
  5. [ QUOTE ]
If you care about your own work, you should take pride in it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I completely agree with everything in this post. Also, I would suggest that if someone wishes to be taken seriously when presenting their thoughts via a written medium, they should take the time to express themselves coherently. That means using at least passable spelling and grammar. Exorbitant spelling and grammar errors are the written equivalent of slurring and mumbling. If you were attempting to engage others in a conversation but did not take the time to articulate your words, you might well find your ideas gain little traction. It's similar when it comes to communicating through writing, be it in a message forum or in a story arc.

If you expect people to take what you say seriously, then you should be conscious of how say it, taking care to express yourself as eloquently as you are able. Doing less than that implies laziness at best, and willful ignorance at worst.

    [ QUOTE ]
And how many times will you go back and fix minor details like that on a published arc? once, twice, 3 times?

    [/ QUOTE ]

When they're found and brought to my attention (which I appreciate), I go in and fix them. I've tweaked my currently published arc approximately eleventy bazillion times. Eleventy bazillion and one isn't going to bother me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I notice one letter out of place in mine, I'll go back and fix it. I'm a stickler.

If someone sends me feedback on a spelling or grammar error, I will go back and fix it.

If I see a few spelling and grammar errors in another arc, I'll likely ignore it. If they're gratuitous, however, it will cost them stars.

I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned before, but being able to go to the Rikti homeworld. Even though I'm not a big fan of fighting these creatures, I'm pretty sure it would be a neat and big feature to add on to the game. It could possibly function like a new city with new zones. I would expect this though to be an entire new expansion set.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think this is what should happen when the Rikti War story runs it's course. Replace the RWZ with the Rikti Homeworld Zone, where the forces of our earth have to help the Rikti Traditionalists fight the Rikti Restructurists on Rikti Earth to help them regain control of their government. You could have a whole bunch of content leading up to the assault to take down The Lineage of War. It'd be a great addition to the game.

You could even keep the RWZ I guess, as the Restructurist Forces try to bring the fight to us rather than being purely on the defensive.

    AI Revamp. Make enemies smarter.

•No more of this silly, Blow up mob 1 with mob 2 standing 20 feet away and doesn’t notice you.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And thus render all snipe powers useless.

    [ QUOTE ]
•AVs make decisions based on more factors. For example, AVs should be smart enough to know to take out the debuffer first. (If implemented, AV’s might have to be made weaker though.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

If implemented it is guaranteed to be buggy and stupid and easily exploited by players to render the AV helpless while it stupidly chases a certain AT all over the map while being pummled to death by his teammates.

    [ QUOTE ]
•More chasers. i.e. they chase you if you are hurt.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Mobs in MA actually do this quite often. I was surprised when some followed me down an elevator.

    [ QUOTE ]
More creative ways to defect enemies. Like you have to knock them into a deep pit three times or something.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That'd be... annoying.

Tradable powers. i.e. I could trade Time Bomb for a power from a list of developer pre-tested / pre-approved powers.

You mean... something like a separate pool of powers other than your primary or secondary that you can pick instead of those? Yes, that would be cool!

So, is this the Coming Storm?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Doesn't look like it... surely they'd be hyping that up like mad.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Surely they wouldn't be callous enough to ramp up expectations for the ongoing plot then finish it in a paid expansion.

Frankly, I like the idea of having a nice, separate plot. Not everything has to be about the Coming Storm.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd like the Coming Storm to actually arrive.

There's a chance that Maelstrom is tied into the Coming Storm- the name has a certain link to it. Perhaps the Coming Storm is a City of Dual Pistol Blasters. Or a Battalion of Dual Pistol Blasters. :-)

    [/ QUOTE ]
If Ouroboros is to be believed, the Coming Storm is an invasion of some sort. And though we don't have all the details, it seems that it may have to do with Shivans.

    [/ QUOTE ]

"This threat... in the near future, I call it the 'coming storm.' Earth will be attacked by it, and will be unable to defend herself due to extenuating circumstances. I plan on changing that. The first step in eliminating this storm is to remove its scouts from a point in your near future. If you would be so kind as to go forward in time and help Mender Lazarus. Once they are defeated, Ouroboros will begin charting the causality wake to determine the outcome upon your time stream."

The "scouts" are Shivans who arrive in a meteor that crashes into Atlas Park.

I should probably take this moment to talk about what the Mission Architect is not meant for. It is not meant for “easy leveling” or “badging” or “farming”. Those are things that we specifically wanted the Mission Architect NOT to do. This may be a disappointment to some, I know. The goal was to give creative minds an outlet to tell the stories they have in their heads. We didn’t want the system clogged with Farm missions, so actually finding someone’s story that they lovingly crafted became more a chore than it was worth.

    [/ QUOTE ] - Original Post

    [ QUOTE ]
This Mission Architect primary purpose is for telling stories. We do not want people to spend days making a great story only to find it shuffled into a list of missions with titles like "Get your Rikti Monkey badge here", "10 badges in 5 minutes", "Down on the AV Farm", etc. etc.

    So, Demons?

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
I wanna know how they are going to sell DEMONS DOING GOOD!!! Or even just "lawful" things. A creature that thrives on chaos, evil, and wickedness in general has no place on hero-side.

It would be more thematic, and certainly sell the "redemption" concept if the Demons became angel equivalents. I sure as hell am not going to play with a demon-summoning hero since my immersion will be shot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm going to go out on a limb and say then that you've never read a single DC-Vertigo title or anything containing Etrigan or Damian Hellstorm.

Mind you, Hellstorm is old school and probably before most of your times...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Son of Satan! I have some of those comics still.

Also, lets not forget our own CoH signature Hero Infernal who is a demon-summoner.
  12. Smurch

    So, Demons?

    [ QUOTE ]
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess an animal forms summoner like a Druid. I think he dreams big.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Positron already said Demon Summoning is the next one in the Q&A, along with Dual Pistols. Also, one of the new signature characters for Going Rogue is a demon summoning MM. The other uses Dual Pistols.

    http://us.ncsoft.com/en/news/press-r...ing-rogue.html
Going Rogue will also introduce two primary new fictional characters representative of this alignment shift in the game's lore: Maelstrom, a pistol-wielding hero gone rogue, and Desdemona, a demon-summoning villain who has been redeemed.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
Purchasing nothing but the same kind of random rolls that a level 50 can expect to get as drops in regular content, is 1500 tickets enough to fill a level 50's recipe, salvage, and enhancement inventories?

Granted, different characters may have different inventory capacities, but by level 50 there's still a certain minimum you'd have in each category. And a "typical" capacity that the majority of characters would have.

If it is, then the ticket cap might represent the limit that a character has on how many drops he can collect in a single regular content mission: the capacity of his inventories.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There is also the trade-off of the fact that enhancement drops are random in both type and origin, and with tickets you can cherry pick both.

Team TP. Had somone take this power after 7 people told them not to. TPd us all up in the air and then ran out of endurance. We fall to the ground into a big spawn, loose most of our health bar when we hit and then many of us die from the mobs. Boot.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Team TP is one of the best powers I have on my MM. Of course I only TP onto flat surfaces, NOT up into the air!

It's nice to be able to put your own little team of pets exactly where you want them on the map. Bringing other teammates along for the ride is merely a side benefit.

This barely made the cut for this Hall of Infame. Sure, a tanker might get freaked out when their fully slotted for Acc powers don't work on the boss you just "bubbled", but this is a very useful power for defense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is one of my most useful powers, especially when splitting the Boss from the minions and controlling the flow of aggro. I really don't see how it is an annoying power. At times its a must.

Heh, poor boss. He needs a stricter hiring policy. I'll see if I can prevent this from happening.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Erm, I hope you can't! If you give him guards with Mez protection, you're going to make life miserable for a dominator. We were a confusion-heavy duo, me with Mass Confusion and her with Seeds of Confusion, so Confusion is one of our mainstays.

Considering dominator DPS is, shall we say, a touch below the average, we probably weren't outperforming corruptors or brutes even with the confused guards.

Besides, it's so much fun to be able to turn a foe's friends against him.

Filesize turns out to be irrelevant, more or less.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Filesize on the local copy and publishability serverside are not really related. I usually end up with the issue that I show 3-4% free in the arc but it won't publish because it's too big. The server-side copy is what matters and that's a couple percent larger than it shows on my PC.

Changing the file size locally won't fix anything. What matters is it's size server-side

Hmm on Triumph, most AE buildings are being used and my coalition have been done and writing AE missions to do for weeks now with no let up. I m not seeing a problem.

Things seem to be proceeding apace on Virtue still, with AE teams recruiting all the time in Mercy and Cap, with a smattering in Martial and RWZ. I still can claim personal ownership of the MA building in Nerva, but thats nothing new.

Honestly, I think alot of the hype has died down, but it's been a few weeks and the new toy is a touch less shiny than it was. It was bound to happen.

And the "nerf" of rewards to 1500 tickets per mission? Considering I averaged about 300 or so tickets per mission with a high end of 1200 tickets in one really huge mission, I don't see a problem. Really if you're hitting upwards of 1500 tickets... you're probably doing something you shouldn't.

Yeah, you know, this used to be true... but wireless technology has come a long way in just the past year or two. Honestly, it's a viable technology now... although I admit the old grognard techie in me refuses to go wireless for input devices, especially for gaming. I feel a bit like the old man arguing that them thar new fangled horse-less carriages aren't gonna replace my ole Gluefoot. But still, I just can't bring myself to do it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Am I the only one who remembers the marketing release from August of last year where they went into some pretty deep detail about the Going Rogue system?

    [/ QUOTE ]

While it's been removed from the official forums, it's still cached around the net if you look. Here's some of what marketing posted last summer right here on the forums:

City of Heroes and City of Villains let players create unique characters and set forth as virtuous Heroes or evil Villains in a MMO comic book inspired universe. This expansion to the City of Heroes/Villains universe blurs the line between good and evil, between hero and villain. The Going Rogue system is a new game dynamic for City of Heroes and City of Villains that allows players to alter the morality of their characters, eventually opening up the opportunity to turn their Hero into a Villain or vice versa.

By visiting different contacts in the game, players can start the process of "moving their moral compass" towards being a hero or a villain. Making this choice dramatically alters the gameplay for the player, as they will now be able to bring an Archetype (class) that was previously only available to players of City of Heroes into City of Villains, and vice versa. Once a character has switched sides, they can continue down the path they have chosen, or use the opportunity to subvert their new allies through a series of espionage-style missions.

In addition to this new game altering dynamic, new neutral starting zones allow new players to select their Archetype (class) first, and then let their actions determine their hero, villain or rogue identities. At the high levels, rewards for these moral choices will be found in new PVP, PVE and Co-op zones. Accomplishments will lead to rewards that will significantly distinguish level 50 characters from one another. One such reward is the Universal Enhancement Slots. Ten Universal Enhancement Slots are available to be earned in the expansion, and each one has the potential of adding significant power to the character, essentially bringing them to a hypothetical "Level 60" once they have earned all ten slots.

For existing City of Heroes and City of Villains players who have previously reached the level cap of 50, the Expansion will take them into outer space where they can now find challenges that test their powers and skills to the max. On an alien space station that mysteriously appears over Earth, Heroes and Villains will race to unlock the secrets of the place and be the first to reap the rewards that are only available to the best of the best.

A brand new Spy Archetype (class), power sets and player costume options will lead to a massive amount of new character and gameplay options. And a significantly enhanced character creator system will now allow characters to customize the effects (looks and colors) of their super powered attacks and defenses.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Here is some other things that were mentioned in the survey...

    -----------------------------------------------------------

1.) New high level Space Station Zones (PVE, PVP, & Co-op)
2.) Characters that do not wish to change sides are rewarded by becoming exemplary heroes or villains, and earning rewards not available any other way
3.) Heroes and villains who go to the other side can also act as Double-Agents
4.) Character Creator 2.0 includes Powers Customization, allowing players to customize not only the character, but also the actual look of its powers
5.) Players undertake missions that define their character's morality and steer them in a more heroic or villainous direction
6.) By switching sides (going from good to bad or bad to good), players can access content "on the other side" (heroes can experience villain zones and content, and villains can experience hero zones and content)
7.) Completely new low-level player experience/zones for new characters in which new characters do not begin a hero or villain, rather become one or the other through early gameplay
8.) New Spy Archetype, Power Sets & Costumes
9.) Universal Enhancement Slots - at level 50, these enhance powers to the character, essentially bringing them to a hypothetical "Level 60" once they have earned all ten slots

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Here are some of the suggested names you had to choose from for the new content...

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    Rogues or Vigilantes
    Rogues or Spies
    Spies or Vigilantes
    Moral Compass or Morality Meter
Shades of Gray or Crossing Over
    Allegiance or Alliance

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Now this part of the survey offered information about the new Player Based Mission Content....

    -----------------------------------------------------------

This is a new module for City of Heroes, fictionally presented as a training exercise for Heroes and Villains, that allows players to build their own Missions and Story Arcs and share them with others in the game. Using an intuitive interface similar to the game's detailed Character Creator, players can create missions by selecting options like size and type of map/environment, mission objectives and encounter types, and difficulty level of each encounter. Additionally, players can write all mission story fiction and character dialogue.

Players can create their own missions and they can play missions that have been created by other players. Once you have finalized and "published" your missions, they are accessible by all players across all servers. All players can rate player created missions and a Mission Browser lets players find available missions and story arcs through a variety of tabs, sorts and filters in an auction house type environment.

As missions are played and more people positively rate them, the creator gains rewards and access to unlockable content for his/her missions. Rewards will also be given to players of the missions. Players will gain rewards such as badges and even XP for playing user created missions and StoryArcs.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Here is a list of the feature from the player based mission creator...

    -----------------------------------------------------------

1.) Write your own dialog for all aspects of the mission.
2.) Build Missions and Story Arcs using a Character Creator-like interface
3.) Players can build powers for some NPCs by selecting from a group of primary and secondary power pools and attaching them to the NPCs
4.)Players can build a boss (and other NPCs) to place within their mission by creating its looks in the Character Creator and assigning it the powers of an existing NPC (non playable character)
5.) Select a variety of components for the overall mission including Level Range, Map, Length, Villain Group, Pacing, Time to Complete, Goals/type of mission, etc.
6.) Customize Encounters to your preference (Place in End Room, Select Villain Group, Name Boss, Select Critter Type, Select Hostage NPC Critter, etc.)
7.) Using an in-game auction house type interface, other players can find user created StoryArcs across all shards
8.) Creators can include their own character as a contact within the mission(s)
9.) Creators don't have access to high level content (environments, NPCs, etc.) until their own characters have encountered/defeated them in the main game.
10.) Using an out-of-game web interface, other players can find user created StoryArcs across all shards
11.) Rewarding creators of the most popular content with exclusive unlockable content such as signature heroes and villains or unique maps
12.) A rating system that allows players to rate missions or flag them for inappropriate content, allowing the developer to remove bad content and potentially ban players
13.) Players can enter the mission maps to adjust placement of the NPC spawns from their pre-selected positions

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I disagree on both points. Redside has hybrid ATs as opposed to blue's niche ATs. Personally, I find the hybrids both more interesting and easier to play as they are more verstile. Brutes can tank AND dps, not as good as a tanker and scrapper, but the fact is they can fill both roles. Corruptors can be dpsers as well as support. Not as well as blasters and defenders, respectively, but they're still a 2 for 1 deal.

Personally having played on both sides, I have to say I like the villain archetypes MUCH MUCH better for gameplay purposes, especially solo or small teams (soloing as a defender SUCKS)
