You assume a lot in your posts. You say there's too many whiners and a lack of skill and effort. How do you know? That's a pretty large blanketed suggestion. I can't speak for everyone, and I'm not an arrogant person by nature, but I'm actually pretty good at PvP in this game and there's plenty others that are far better. And I'd peg them to beat the people that dog them in game and on the boards regardless of what they're using. Skill isn't an issue. Generating new tactics and team makeups isn't either since most of those that are figuring things out are the same ones that have been for the last 15 issues.
The point of backing up your point with specifics is that others can understand where you're coming from and either counter or see something that changes their mind. I agree with several of the things you noted in your reply to Mac.
"Currently most people think that healing is the only form of effective support."
I do and don't agree with this. Not the only form of effective support, but likely the best option for support while teamed with a character that can effect adequate damage. Though even that statement is dependent on what exactly you're doing. You can't argue the effectiveness of a character with strong team buffs and two ranged click heals. I'm sure there are plenty of scenarios where a bubbler or a stormy or a kin would be a better choice. Again.. depends on what you're doing and what you're trying to accomplish.
"-Too many cannot understand that bubblers and shieldbots should be built to support melee toons.
-Too many believe that their melee toons do not require support"
Problem with this statement is that 9 times out of 10 you can accomplish the same thing a melee toon can, but at range and with more damage, if you're on a ranged attack toon. So you wouldn't need a bubbler or shield bot and would be overall more effective.
"Too many believe that Phase/Hib are the only means of escape."
I agree with this whole heartedly. However, they ARE a perfectly viable means of escape when coupled with good evasion, smart inspiration usage, and/or a strong team makeup.
So and and so forth. There's a view for each side of every issue and who's to say which approach is wrong or inferior? I only have a problem with the people that maintain they are the ones with the answer. Not an answer. The answer. The Way. The Light. The Right. The Ones. Blah blah blah. -

And then it needs to stay up outside patch time, regardless, so the Test PvP community isn't banished from the server they play on during match weeks...

Quote:But I don't KNOW your in game account. I never got to team with you.Tony -- company policy is that once someone is no longer with the company, their "red name" status is revoked. Come Friday afternoon, I won't even have access to this account any longer.
I do still have my personal account, and will continue to play. I'll still be in a Supergroup (and who knows, maybe I'll actually get to play when the rest of them are online now! Silly mid-westerners!) Most of all, I'll still be reading the forums, but, when I post, very few people will know it's me. Sadly, there's little that could be done to change that. -
Quote:The well phrased and presented criticisms and suggestions were also provided prior to the horrible PvP changes and were mostly discarded. And there are still a lot of the same PvP'ers around. The complaints today are warranted and obvious. Who's being blind about it? I'm not. I'm not whining either. Nor am I bitter. I am, however, disappointed. And that's warranted too.I think the devs are still getting over the last time they gave in to whiners' demands. Makes sense to avoid making the same mistake twice don't you think?
Keep in mind that the devs have commented on pvp. (Most of these "very well constructed criticisms" came after)
Ignoring these comments, being impatient with what is to come, and/or expecting only the changes you want to happen first... is what causes most to be so bitter about the devs when it comes to pvp in this game.
It's time to stop being blind to the changes that have occured. The excuses used by many to complain about I13 have been countered in many ways... yet bitterness prevents these changes from being acknowledged.
The quality of PvP in this game has improved over time in the last year or two. Sadly though... the quality of PvPers has gotten worse at a faster rate. Go figure.
P.S. LOL @ ur ragequit ultimatum and can you donate ur stuff to someone less fortunate?
"The excuses used by many to complain about I13 have been countered in many ways.." That's just vague enough to mean exactly jack and ****. -

Quote:If SBane presented his opinion like this, he wouldn't get messed with so much. One could say the same for PvE... but only when you look at things in a very simple way.
Even though it's versus AI its still simply a matter of bringing HP bars down to zero just like in PvP. In the PvE world however... when creating characters to play, people don't always use the simplest form of thought to tell them what toon to roll or what sets to combine. No... there's something else that happens. They choose a toon many times based on its purpose, a toon based on a concept, or they choose a toon based on the role it's desigend to play on a team. They then build accordingly, and strangely (compared to PvP)... sometimes even depend on teammates to make up for weaknesses in their build.
Can you imagine how dull this game would be if PvE'ers simply looked at paper DPS and all rolled the same toons because it added up to be the most effective at a given task?
When you re-focus on the created purpose of any set/set combination... any combo can offer the "best tools" for the job... depending on what the job is.
I can't fault anyone for rolling a Psy/EM or any other FoTM toon. Doing so tells me that such is their desired preference, and I feel everyone is entitled to their own pref. since they're paying $$ to play. I do however discourage such a thing with newer or less experienced PvP'ers.
Good PvP'ers... are those who PvP their toons well. It really has nothing to do with the build being used. Bad PvP'ers... are those who PvP their toons poorly. It really has nothing to do with the build being used. Getting better in PvP is harder to do when things are easy for you from the start, and dependancy on any particular AT or build will slow the process of improvement. The skill required to become good using a FoTM in PvP are about the same as those needed to solo grey-conned npcs in PvE.
TL;DR Version: FoTMs work and are WAI. FoTMs will NoT make you a better PvPer... they will make you dependant on the next FoTM.
I'll agree.. to a point. PvE doesn't bring the same kind of competitiveness (usually) that PvP does and the kind of toon you bring isn't as important. But, there are still global calls for specific toons. Master runs of the harder TF's are more carefully built. Not as much these days, but I still remember the calls for primary specific, secondary specific, and AT specific requirements to join runs. Hell just yesterday I saw two scrappers turned away from a LGTF because the leader wanted another cold defender. Certain setups are just more effective and give the best chance to win. I do understand what you're saying though. I have maybe 15 PvP'centric toons. The rest of my many many many toons are concept or made for a joke or steeped in intraweb meme.
Bad PvP'ers are bad. Truth. I don't think FotM toons are necessarily a learning roadblock as long as the player is practicing the right things, actively trying to get better, or has others that DO know what they're doing coaching them. I don't see how playing a less effective toon will help someone learn better than a more effective toon. -

Probably because a chance for is a random roll. To get any kind of accurate average you'd have to run your thousand kill run a thousand times to find any kind of reliable average. Even then there's no guarantee someone's personal run will be anywhere near.
Better to save yourself some time and say, "Kill some stuff in PvP zones and you'll eventually get some shards." Personally I'd rather just run through some speed TF's and get more than 10 in an hour, but that's just me. -
It's pretty solid for team pvp with no purples or PvPIO's being used. I'm curious what you would PvP with as well. Post your build so I can see it. Pip Pip.

That's a good question. I'd like an answer to this as well.

Quote:Are you still doing this? Nobody takes anything you say seriously. So why stay and spout your rhetoric? It just wastes everyones time. You won't listen to reason or accept verification that you're thinking of things the wrong way and you belittle, or try to anyway, anyone that disagrees. You should listen to me. I have a wp/mace tank and a non permadom plant/thorn dom.You are borderline, and the below is what certainly does not help you:
Psi/EM = -5 Note: Easiest thing in game, and broken
Sonic/Cold= +2 Note: Sonic is easiest blast set available for corr, Cold easily makes sure more than 1 power chain does not get off on a single target only, and has no self heal.
Rad/Therm= +1 Note: Rad is the most balanced blast set, Therm is the easiest Corr secondary.
Claws/Nin= +2 (without Sharks) or -2 (with sharks). Note: Claws/Nin is in no way the easiest primary or secondary for stalks.
So as there are some on here that might not get it, Having a positive skill requirement on your toons you PVP with is a GOOD thing. Having zero means you are not really getting any better, but are not getting worse. Having a negative means you are in a full handicap, which is BAD, and means with your dependancy growing your skill is decreasing. -
SR is pretty rubbish for PvP outside of Elude. The reason so many roll /regen is because it's effective. That's it. You can't fault people for rolling the most effective character possible if their goal is to PvP.
I'm not saying SR isn't fun. I love my SR scrapper. I just keep him to PvE. -
It's not that they're not good. It's more that there are other choices that are better for solo or small team arena and for large teams you're likely better off with another blaster than you are with a rad.
..which sucks. I miss using my rad/psi. -
