so you mean re-dl the updater from the CoH website and do everything agian?.... just checking if i understood correct

wow... hating on a power BECAUSE of its horrid dmg/rech/end, i have had quite a lot of love from CI on my elec/elec brute.
but the one of the reasons I think it would have a slighlty higher end/rech than most others... is because it was most likely meant to be used with /elec because of the +end, another reason would be because it has that chance to JUMP on it. slightly higher end and rech for the ability to be able to hit a max of 5 foes, hellz yea!
I have had several people that ive teamed with on occasions on my claws/dark say "how can you stand playing /dark, its compleatly horrid on end?" i inturn reply saying "dont run EVERY single toggle, use DR in dire need" /DAs use of end is high BECAUSE dark melee has a +end power
Dont hate on a single power in a set because it 'underperforms' to other powers look at the set in a WHOLE with its 'proper' secondary set and then decide if this power is 'broken'.
PS. saying "OMG! this power is useless FIX IT" will get nothing done actually give REAL reason as to why it needs to be 'fixt', under performing compared to other proper AoEs *in my opinion* is stupid, of course its gonna crumble in comparason to the others, ELM has 2/3 other AoEs that make it for it being 'broken'
Compare LR and FS, LR fails in comparason because elm has 2 (3 if you incluse CI) other AoE that make up for it. -

nice... i think ive ran one of those in about 35ish mins with stealthin.... BUT.... the NZ troll ninja still lurks.... and is still hating on the NCsoft support *shakes fist in anger*... but hopefuly stale will be able to help me better since i dont think he has beef with norton
Edit: a LGTF.... uld need atleast 2 tanks for that... main reason is Fire, Invuln, Stone and Ice have a pretty big hole for Psi *except stone can have minerals and become vulnerable to EVERYTHING* so a WP, Dark or Elec tank would probly be what your looking for if you want just 1 tank -

But after i had reinstalled Norton, i went in and checked permissions... the CO updater wasnt in the list, and CoH was.... i ran CO and low and behold, it GOT permission to go thru.
but ive never had problems with norton before thats why ive stuck with it, but performance differs from person to person -

I can guarantee you it is safe as we would be using either the built in Windows remote desktop support, or the Messenger one, and I am as discreet as they come. This is your machine, your investment. I'd just be proposing solutions and, with your approval, trying them out.
As for the Norton/Symantec thing... Has the CoH Updater been specifically allowed if you have their firewall system working? It could be that this was done in your previous installation, but not this one. These permissions have to be set per application, and don't transfer over using the File and Transfer Wizard (f this is what you used).
An overzealous firewall could also explain the blocked / unreachable IPs.
I've had to set my firewalls (Sunbelt Personal Firewall - formerly Kerio, and ZoneAlarm) to allow CoH Updater through (exceptions list) specifically to ensure proper functining on my WinXP and Vista PCs. I use Avast! as an antivirus and Spybot completes the protective trinity to prevent malware.
BTW, I have a Vista 64 desktop here at work with CoH on it, and using Symantec's Endpoint client - and it works fine. -

im curious,
if you were to patch via another machine then move those files into the proper location on the vista machine
(if your running 64bit vista that would be *:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes , if your running 32bit vista *:\Program Files\City of Heroes )
then use the command to bypass the updater does it let you in the game? It should let you use the commands in the shortcut regardless of how it was installed.
sorry if you already mentioned that you tried this.. trying to run down basic troubleshooting in my head. -
even tho ive had my computer for 2/3 weeks and already spent 200-300 for 2 years sub.... no way would i look for a new one unless its free... and ACTUALLY works...
And with my response... i know its not the correct way of getting my point across, but they seriously asked for it when i had already told them in an earlier reply "if it WORKS on my laptop with the SAME version, my computer* worked with the SAME version, i can tell you its NOT norton"... they just seem to wanna push my buttons

Actually, the heal was a recent addition, what was originally Conserve power became a smaller End Discount with a heal component and a regen boost in I16.

The game specific launcher, or the NCSoft one?
Can you bypass the updater to launch the game directly? (Create a shortcut where the target line reads ...pathname\CityOfHeroes.exe -project "coh"). Even if you get the error that your game client is not at the right version, at least it confirms that the app is launching properly. More command line options here: http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Game_Client
Can you share some of the trouble(s) you're having?
I have 3 user accounts on my PC here, all of them using either launcher without a hitch. ( Core 2 Quad 6600 CPU, along with 4GB OCZ RAM, GeForce 8800 GT. RAID 0 300Gb system drive(s) ). I also have it working on a WinXP P4 HT, 7800GT OC, and even a AMD Athlon with a Ati 9800 Pro card. Multiple user accounts all around again.
Of course, if you're set on getting XP installed already, I'll stop helping / pestering you.
And im not 100% set on gettin XP installed, its more a last resort because of so many problems vista has had in its life *UAC and what not (shakes fist angrly) and its silly "you closed this, are you SURE you wanna close it?"*
