I'm sure the whole RoA argument is based on solo farming where you are guaranteed to hit the mob with RoA and do the most damage. When you run on teams it doesn't work like that. I find myself struggling to get decent use out of it before the mob is wiped clean. And I'm not some guy with limited experience in archery. I have used a arch/dev since issue 8 as a pvp/farm/team/solo toon so I know the ins and outs of the set. RoA is fantastic solo or on small teams. On itrials and endgame with full teams, its very situational if you want to get the best use out of it. Beam rifles nuke is better off in those scenarios, and due to its faster animation time I bet it would outdo the damage on arch/ unless the arch/ player made it his goal to stay ahead of the team and not work with the group.

With all of this being said, how many of you stayed subbed for the duration?
Job well done. -
Quote:To be technical, it was part of the i22 release. I've been smacked around by it quite a few times since launch...Actually, in the 'trailer' for the i22 launch, they did present Staff Fighting as a part of it. if they didnt intend on making it part of the i22 launch then they shouldn't have advertised it in that way.
Yeah I know, but it was still part of i22 launch -
The amount of self entitlement flowing around these forums makes me laugh. Its funny because some of the same people that belly ache now about the lack of goodies are the same people that played the game 2 years ago and said little to nothing when new stuff came every few months when lucky and not every week.

Quote:Ok, so your aren't in any way frustrated with the "lack of dev communication" you just talked about.Nothing I stated was made in anything other than a calm state. I will give your clear attempt to stir it up a 2 on the scale. You must do better next time pal.
You just complain about it.
Got it. -
Quote:Relax friend. Its only a game, not the holy grail to the secrets of life. You'll live I promise. That is just a fairly clear example of how myopic it is to think that everyone has that perspective (ie. when have two sets come out the same month). Not everyone knows the history of the releases.
That is neither here nor there since the real issue concerning that and other things like it is the devs and their failure to fully communication a regular basis. There are daily examples of this from many people here and in the game. -
Well, the server I run on is jam packed so I see no real benefit from this. If people want a busy server I can name at least 2 to check out.

Quote:If you've ever studied about lions you would know how males are basically kicked from their prides once they become a certain age. They have to fend for themselves until they can find another pride. Case in point:Riiiiggghhht. Ever study anything about lions? Yeah, the males look all fearsome and their growls sound cool, but ever see them out, you know, hunting? Or do they pretty much sit at home, defend the pride's kids, and eat a lot of food? Go watch the Lion episode of the Kratt Brothers' "Be the Creature" series, where the lionesses take down a frikkin' elephant, then try to be serious about them being "pussycats."
No reaping the rewards of the pride. No easy life. You could actually say they worked their way to the top and earned the "easy" life. -
I don't know about you guys, but I'll hang out there now and again to show off the awesomeness that is my costume.

Sooo... that's what one of his boogers looks like.

The only time I bothered grabbing confront was for zone pvp. The -range is useful and the annoyance factor was fun. Now that pvp is in the gutter I always skip it. I don't try to tank with scrappers, but since they can be built tank like I can see how it would be useful for some people.

Quote:I don't even have coulrophobia, but imagining a DFB trial full of clowns just gave me the chills.
Clown Summoning Power Set
Short Description: Grants you access to the Clown Summoning Mastermind Set.
Clown Summoning: With the Clown Summoning Power Set for Masterminds, you will be able to command and control your own circus of clowns. The minion pets are three traditional happy clowns, with squirting flower ranged attacks and balloon-sword melee attacks. The lieutenant pets are of the sad clown variety, and finally the boss clown is a vicious mime with a very powerful self-containment attack that puts himself inside of an invisible, shrinking box. Clowns arrive on the battlefield via a single tiny car that they all pile out of. -
I think I'll make a video on how blaster rock, and then show how much they suck, and then say I'm right because I made a video. Yeah, that sounds awesome!

Really, so if they increased the percentage from what it was now to 50% it wouldn't be increased it would just be restored? Got it...
Anyway, I actually think the attuned idea might be better. That way I can slot a hami on a new toon and keep it there until it reaches 50. With that being said if anything were to be done I would bet the increase to 50% would be the fastest easiest way to go and I'd be more than pleased with it.
The only wrong way to go would be putting a better version on the market. I would not pay real money for hamis. -
Quote:Spout out things like what, my "personal experience" as I stated in the quote? Or the question that I asked? I know because it was my personal experience. I didn't know I needed a poll or "emperical" evidence for that. You know this how? You've polled every single CoH/CoV player on all the servers? I always love it when people spout out things like this. It's easy to do so in this setting. However, when challenged to back it up with emperical evidence to quantify their remarks it becomes a different story.
There "may not" be as many characters using Energy Melee because its not as flashy as Super Strength, Kinetic Melee, Fire Melee, Ice Melee, or even Dual Swords. It may not have the DPS of the above mentioned, it does; however, have the ability to stun a target(s) with every punch. That is a major benefit when involved in a tense fight against a Boss or AV. That can be a game changer. It has for me on my Energy Melee characters.
The point I was trying to make is that EM is scarce from what I've seen in game and I'm sure a lot of people have seen the same thing. And since the set is so rarely seen by myself there is probably a reason for it. My reason being that its boring.
I wont pick apart your whole post, but it's obvious you love EM the way it is and that's fine. I don't and think its is a bore fest. And from the threads I've seen here on this forum over the years about it (this one included), a lot of people feel the same way I do.
Again, I don't care if EM is the best/worst in ST, AoE, ect. I just want a set that is fun to play before I have to dip into pool powers and incarnates to make it interesting. I actually like underdog sets. I'm currently playing a ice/ice tank and that set is fun to me. Ice melee lacks in damage and ice shield isn't what it use to be as far as end game, but it has a bunch of neat little attacks and tricks to keep it interesting. EM has the damage but I can't force myself to play the set due to the horrendously slow animation time on 2 of its best attacks. They don't have to be lightning fast, just trim the time down so the set flows better and I'd be more than happy.
As of now, if I want single target I'd roll dark melee. If I want stuns I'd grab mace. If I want to bore myself to death while I beat up corpses, I'd pick energy melee. -
Attuned hamis... that's a great idea.
-
Look around in game. I'll wait...
How many EM players do you see? My personal experience is not many. Hardly any in fact. There is most likely a reason for that. My guess: lack of fun playing the set. It doesn't matter if the DPS, AoE or single target is bottom of the barrel. The set just isn't fun to play for me on tanks or brutes due to the horrendously long animation times on 2 of the sets big hitters. Its just plain boring.
Cut the animation times down and lower the damage for ET and TF and I'd take my main inv/em tank and em/dark brute off the shelf today. When it boils down to it, its all about fun and how the set plays. The energy transfer "fix" took all of the fun out of energy melee IMO. It turned from a fun single target pom pom powerhouse to a double tapper (long animations cause you to attack targets already defeated by teammates...).
With that being said I think the stalker version of energy melee is fine as is. I have a level 50 EM/WP stalker and they still perform well with the set, especially with the new stalker changes. The new AS is almost like having the old ET back. But the brute and tank version need some love in one form or another. Make the set fun again. -
Quote:Its risk vs reward, and the risk involved for a hamiO just isn't worth it. Not to mention the time and effort it takes to run a hami raid. Sure they are useful, just not enough to be worth it for most people. Now more than ever.I have an idea that wont be popular..
Stop whining about an exploit that people knew about.. the devs said they knew about it and that it would be fixed.. and then when it was eventually fixed complain that what you KNEW was broken and used to your benefit was REMOVED..
Get over it.. Hami-O's are fine the way they are.. I use them on almost every character I have..
The increase in value to 50% sounds like the best idea so far. That would make them much more desireable to me. -
You know, I might be on board if this was actually a well though out idea to make scrappers more fun without seriously changing them, but this isnt in the slightest. Its something you want, not something scrappers need to make them a interesting AT. Why work on worthless fluff that will benefit only a small percentage of the number crunches that actually care about in game enemy stats? Especially when a extremely cheap temp power is already available that does exactly what you want and is available to any AT?
And just the fact that you want "fluff" alone and not a true improvement makes this thread incredibly silly. Use this effort to get the time spent on something worthy. You know, something other than "fluff" and that will actually matter to the game as a whole. After all, you are "the guy that gets everything he wants"... use your powers wisely. -
