Ok, so I checked my youtube email today and had three messages. The first two were melee duel requests from some nub that thinks my tank is some type of pvp legend:

Melee duels are boring and regens are easy mode. I stripped my fully accoladed bs/regen of all its expensive IO's and shelved it because a half brain dead gimp monkey could play one well. I've advanced to ranged toons that can actually die. If you want to step up from retard melee PvP let me know. In fact all 1vs1's are lol in that game. If you really want to show me something get 7 friends and we can do a 8vs8 to see where your high end pvp skillz are at... that is if you have 7 friends in CoX (my guess is no).

You see, there is this little letter in the middle of PvP that most PvPers seem to forget. It's the v which stands for versus which denotes competition. PvPing badgers obviously isn't done for the competition, because there is no competition. It isn't done for the challenge, because there is no challenge.
So if you are going to hunt badgers in PvP zones stop calling yourself a PvPer and start calling yourself what you are. A farmer.
Not that there is anything wrong with farming PvP recipes but you aren't actually doing PvP any more than defeating mobs who don't fight back is PvE.
Say you're on a collage basketball court practicing free throws with a couple of friends when a actual team practice begins. Since there is only one court you have a few options: join the practice, leave, stay on the court and get trampled by the collage players, or complain about how you are entitled to play how you want to play and that the collage students should expect to share the court with the kids practicing free throws. I don't know about you but I see two perfectly viable responses and two that are asinine.
As far as me being a farmer goes, I guess you're right. If it has a orange name over its head I'm going to attack it. I don't care if you're badge hunting, dueling or using the dance6 emote, I will attack you. I'm not going to check names for every move I make just because someone is badge hunting. If you want your reward work for it, or come back when the zone isn't buzzing with 30 players at prime time. -

I wont disagree that putting these things in PvP zones was a bad design, but that's how it goes. You don't need nukes shivans or PvP badges in any way shape or form. If you want them so badly than you should expect PvP to come with the deal.
As far as not fighting back... if you want to get slaughtered instead of putting up a fight that's up to you. There is no debt, no penalties, nothing but a trip to the hosp if you die. The only thing that may get damaged is a ego or two, and to that I say lol@MMO egos. -
I have 2 range soft capped defense blasters that will loose it when this goes live. Both are pretty cheap builds by my standards so it wont be that big of a deal. It was good while it lasted.

Just pointing out that I wasn't hunting "fire kinetic troller" and his team systematically killing them over and over. I saw him and his team once at a pillbox, wiped them out and proceeded on my path to the heroes base. I didn't see him again in zone. With that being said, if I did happen to see him again I would have attacked with no mercy. Not because I was out to give this guy a hard time, I just attack every orange name I see. Nothing more nothing less.
The funny part is that they had a team of at least 6 (mostly tanks) and didn't try to put up a fight. They taunted here and there but other than the kin spamming heals and a occasional taunt, I don't think I was attacked once in the 2-5 minutes we engaged them.
The odds were pretty even and they could have at least put up a fight. If the tanks would have spammed taunt they could have made it extremely hard for us to get a kill. Rather than put up a fight with what looked like a full team, they decided to tuck their tails under their legs and accept defeat and then complained about teh ebil pvprs attacking them in a pvp zone. They didn't want to earn the pvp reward, they wanted it given to them on a silver platter.
Now again I ask, who is the bad sport? The guy that is using the zone the way it was intended to be used, or the guy that wants to earn his shiny the easy way and expects a get out of jail free card any time he asks for one? The answer is pretty obvious to me. -

People who fight those who don't want to fight, whether PVEers or duelers, are bad sports and trolling even if what they do is within the rules. If defeating some person who's trying to do somethng else and can't even fight back effectively is entertaining to you, then you are a troll and have no sense of competitive PVP pride.

Ok, so from what I understand the pillboxes in RV were designed to be fought over. The whole purpose of the zone is to pvp while taking over the zone in the process. It didnt exactly work out as planned but thats the idea behind RV.
Personally I think as long as we didn't break any rules its all fun and games. I wasn't trying to grieve just PvP. This guy didn't seem to think so and I'm interested to see what others think about it.
So do you think I'm a jerk for PvPing in a PvP zones and not letting this guy get his badges, or just playing the game the way it was designed to be played? Should we have let them cake walk through it or do what we did and made them work for the badge? -

Starsman, I have nothing but respect for you and your knowledge of the game in general, but you are mistaken when it comes to PvP.
While it is true that PvP damage is based on animation time, the lack of aim hurts DP tremendously because you need to quickly eliminate your foe before they can counter or run away. Since you don't have aim to boost your initial volley a DP blaster will never be able to compete against a fire or sonic. Even psy, who also doesn't have aim, will out perform DP due to a quirk of how the set animates and records damage allowing you to basically hit your target with two attacks at once. The long rooted animations also leave you vulnerable to counter attack.
Additionally, while slows used to be a viable tactic and a major annoyance, I13 changed all that. The new PvP metric all but eliminates slow movement effects and requires heavy stacking for slow recharge. A trick arrow player used to be able to slow someone to a crawl. Now you feel the effect of travel suppression but can't even tell that you have been hit with a slow attack.
I have a friend who already leveled, IO'd, and accoladed a DP blaster to try out in PvP. He is a solid PvPer with lots of experience playing all sorts of ATs, but especially experienced with blasters and defenders. He is very dissappointed in his DP blaster's performance.
What I do agree with is that DP is sub par as far as pvp goes. I have a 50 DP blaster with a pvp build fully IO'd and it's not that great. DP's damage is quite good and you can load the attacks up with procs, but the thing that makes the damage good is the same thing that hurts the set... the long animations. By the time you fire off a attack chain a psi blaster will be halfway through his second. -

I've had plenty of draws before they added sudden death to arena. They really need a off button for that crap.
On second thought I guess it's possible if you set up matches by kills rather than time, but I never do that. -

Elec does need kb protection. It does have grounded that grants you 10 points when you are on the ground, but that isn't going to get you far.
For power pools I'd go with fitness, conceal, leap and speed. Tough or aid self isnt needed. With phase and the self heal you'll be good to go. You could drop leap for aid self but anyone with half a brain will be able to evade your taunts easily. You'd also have to invest in pvp ios to get the desired 41 kb with no acrobatics.
