  1. I don't actually have a Kheld yet, but I'm seriously considering a Human-only PB that goes villain. Even if it's just to mess with people's heads.

I dunno, I'm under the impression that there will be benefits to staying "pure". Depending on how much of a mechanical benefit staying on one or the other side offers, it may very well be the case that the only people going Rogue/Vigilante will be the RPers. However it turns out though, there will be much whining on the forums.
  2. Only two 50s here, and one only sorta counts

Rajani of the Blades is my DB/SR Scrapper. I got her to 50 on my old and defunct euro account and am currently levelling her back to 50 on my american account (she's 38 right now). She was the fifth or so character I created in this game and the first to get past level 10. Like most of my toons, her entire backstory is a simple line or two. In this case, being an avatar or aspect of Kali, Hindu goddess of destruction (and some other, nicer things).

PainJunkie is a SS/WP Brute and was an absolute blast to get to 50. I don't really take him out much nowadays, mostly because I can't be bothered to respec and IO him out. Also, I find the Rage crash much more annoying than I used to. Backstory... well, look at the name. This guy gets high on pain, both caused and suffered.

Finally, check to see if using Only BF, AV, repeat beats both of the above for AoE damage output and live with a scrapper that only uses 4 attacks.

I am extremely interested in seeing your results. My intuition is that BF -> Sweep -> Sweeping Strike is the best AoE, but I honestly have no way or inclination to back it up with proof.

To my understanding the weaken and empower combos are better for the early lvls as they provide some much needed debuffing.
In my opinion, that is correct. Weaken is extremely useful at lower levels, making it easier to hit foes thanks to the AoE def debuff and giving you a slight boost in survivability thanks to the -tohit. Empower is less useful but still handy due to the increased +tohit it gives over the default BF.

And lets face it, it's not like you've got much else to do with your attacks so you might as well make the most of them.

At higher levels, once you open Attack Vitals and, even later, Sweep they become a lot less useful. Chaining Attack Vitals does more damage than chaining Empower and Sweep is better mitigation than Weaken. What I recommend doing is taking Nimble Slash at character creation and skipping (if you have to) Power Slice. Then respec into out of NS and into Power Slice around 32 or whenever you decide to take take 1kCuts.

And vs a single hard target you have to repeat that string over and over. That's a chain.

You can efficiently mow down stuff without button mashing also. In fact for DB you can often SACRIFICE you dps for landing efficient combos--efficient as in knocking stuff down directly in front or beneath you.
I suppose that you mean the Attack Vitals and Sweep combos? Those are actually DB's best DPS options for ST and AoE respectively, if you're popping BF in between combos. Of all the powersets I've played, DB is probably the one that gets the greatest benefit from having an attack chain.

While it's true that you can and will mow stuff down with button mashing, it's also true that you'll mow stuff down faster with optimized attack chains. Most of the time, I think the difference is not really noticeable, but some people still like knowing that they are getting the most damage possible out of their toon. You gotta understand that for some of us, that is fun.

And of course, there's situations where it really does matter. Typically, when fighting bosses or higher or trying to take out multi-man spawns solo.
  7. Super Reflexes has one too, I believe. At least, I've never been blinded playing SR.

As for judging distances... well, normal meelee range is 7', Most meelee PBAoEs are 8', while the larger ones (Footstomp, Spine Burst) are 15', which is also the radius of things like Fire Ball and Neutron Bomb. After that is gets harder to estimate, as the next common distance is 40', the range of short-range blaster attacks like Blaze and Bitter Ice Blast.

I mean, really? You can't just shoot/hit with whatever powers? Yeah, seamless attack chain blahblahblah *gets slammed by ice/psy attack with a wideareawebgrenade*. Now do you just fall apart because your pre-made button sequence is brokeded? I just don't get it...
My DB scrapper does this because hitting 'it' with whatever powers is a lot worse than using an actual attack chain that incorporates a combo. Such as Blinding Feint -> Attack Vitals combo -> Repeat. And I actually have an attack (Nimble Slice) that I only use as filler when slowed. Or to pull of a Sweep combo, but that's not really relevant.

That said, attack chains are generally more useful when fighting a target that won't go down in a couple of hits. My Ninja Blade Stalker uses the "hit whatever attack has recharged" tactic against 90% of enemies, only bothering to break out a proper attack chain against bosses and higher.
  9. HOLY MOTHER OF CRAPCAKES!

    Amazing!

Curious to know what attack chain you're running though, my Nin/ Stalker will soon need only one application of DA to softcap and I was wondering what the best chain for that is.
  10. Fire/Thermal: Hero Solves Everything with Fire!
  11. Judging by your post you want a DM/DA Scrapper. Brute could work, or a Tank if you want it tougher. The only thing you won't be able to do is the hypnotism. Everything else is either covered by the prim/sec or pool powers.
  12. Thanks for the pics Dispari. By Claws Brute is going to be very happy.

I only learnt to use BU regularly after playing a Stalker because you really, really want to see that BU'd AS.

It really makes a massive difference on all toons.
  15. I tinkered in Mid's a bit and came up with this build. I'd appreciate any comments on it (It's PvE only) regarding underslotting, overslotting or just plain wrong slotting as well as power picks (I'm not too sold on the leadership pool, easy LotG mule slots nonwithstanding).

Also, is Dull Pain perma? I don't know how to calculate it factoring Hasten's up/downtime ratio.

So yeah, I'd appreciate some tips on this combo too.

    *nods in heavy agreement*

What, the actual topic of this thread? I got nothing to say. I'm not even sure what you're all talking about anymore.
  20. Can't comment on the build, as I'm without Mids atm. I'll comment on what I see in the export though:

-I'd urge you to get Weave a lot sooner. Swap Elude out to level 49 and bump the fighting pool to earlier levels. Maybe even move 1kCuts a little later to get Weave sooner.

    - Slotting in Tough is... not great. You get get numbers almost as good as what you have with two End/Res Hami-Os and the Steadfast 3% Def. Same goes for Weave with a LoTG +rech. Or any old Def/End IO. Put those saved slots into Health and get a Regen Tissue Unique and the Miracle and Numina's Heal IOs. Enjoy your greatly boosted regen rate.

-Elude. It's quite skippable on a Soft-capped (you ARE soft-capped, aren't you?) /sr. I mean, it's only ever going to help you if you fight Nemesis and they fire off a Vengeance. Or if you try to tank/solo Antimatter, I guess. I'd skip it and grab Conserve Power. Put two Rech IOs in it and call it a day. Put the slot you're saving someplace else.

That's all I can see without Mids. Slotting seems rather strange, but I guess you're going for frankenslotting over set bonuses?
  21. Holy cow. That's friggin' scary awesome stuff there.

    ...

So, when do we get to see a Scrapper solo a round dozen AVs?
  22. I've played this combo to fifty and like it. Nice thematic fit, looks really sexy and a little IO investment makes it extremely tough.

DB/ can be played in three* ways: Get everything from the primary (except the taunt) and use all the combos. get everything except Nimble Slash and the taunt and use Attack Vitals and Sweep or get only the attacks required for Attack Vitals + Blinding Feint.

The first Option is the tightest, but gives you all the combos to play with. However, I feel the the benefit isn't worth it. Weaken is almost useless to a soft-capped /SR (useful while levelling, though) and Empower's damage buff is simply too small to be worth chaining the combo for it.

The second option gives you very decent St and AoE damage with AV and Sweep respectively but makes the build pretty tight.

The advantage of using the third option is it gives you quite a bit more power picks to play with. The downside is that your AoE potential will drop to "pretty low". You can grab Typhoon's Edge as well, but outside the Sweep combo TE is not that good an AoE.

As for /sr, get everything except Elude if you softcap, and get the toggles and PB ASAP. The Passives can be put off a few levels, but try to fit them quickly. Lightning Reflexes can wait as long as you want but as it's really, really nice to have it's a matter of taste. I picked it up in the mid-30s.

Besides that, get Stamina at 20, get Tough and Weave for the extra defence and you're good to go. CJ is a really nice power to have as it gives a little defence, nice mobility and some cool slotting possibilities for very little end cost.

Depending on how you build the DB/ side of the toon, you may have a power pick or two for Epic pools or Aid Self.

For IO slotting: Get to the softcap, get 50ish global rech (Lightning reflexes makes this easy) so you can run Blinding Feint -> Attack Vitals combo for your ST damage and then stack up on +HP, +Regen, and +Recovery if you need it.

And that's all I can think of right now. What to take for DB/ is very much a matter of taste, so I'd suggest trying out all the combos before respeccing out of the ones you don't use.

*Ok, there's other ways to go about it, but they aren't as common.
  23. You are level 10. On TOs there aren't any good armour sets.

As for tiering the brute secondaries... I'm not sure it's possible. Mostly because... well, what are we comparing them against?
