Quote:Epic story. While I think most MMO players are nuts (myself included) this would be hard to top.I had a student in one of my classes, a woman in her thirties. She had become absolutely ADDICTED to World of Warcraft. And I mean literally so. She and her husband had gotten into the game, bought twin computers so they could play together, and then proceeded to do NOTHING ELSE for the next year. They played eighteen hours a day (more if their energy drinks would keep them going). They both quit their jobs, then went through all their savings paying for only their "necessities": game subscription, food, and electricity. Next they had to start selling their furniture a piece at a time, everything except their computer chairs, and took to sleeping on the floor.
Eventually the guy ended up meeting another female WoW player online, went to meet her in person, and cheated on his wife.
The wife, in turn, figured it was then OK for her to do the same, took up with a teen-ager she ALSO met in the game, and left her husband. She STILL plays every waking moment she's not in class, now with her new "man."
Now, here's the kicker: when I mentioned to her my connection to CoH, she said "City of Heroes? I tried it, but didn't care for the other players. Those people are CRAZY." -

That last paragraph is horribly written and unclear. -
Larger than 8v8 would be an improvement. Tweaking powers might be good, but given the history, things could get worse.

i17: don't worry the fanbois will pretend it's good like they did with the last 4 issues

Quote:I had a few Skype convos the past few days where I said esentially that WAR's PvP was kinda syupid but the sheer choas of the massive scenarios were fun.I think the real question we need to ask ourselves is:
"Why don't we have an arena option for larger than 8v8 other than SG battle?"
But to answer the OP, Freedumb doesn't really run kickball. It's generally scrimmages among known PvP'rs . Feel free to announce kickball, make the 2 emps capatins, pick teams and play. -
I had dream once that you could play the Watcher in Marvel Ultimate Alliance and had a series of overpowered massive heatbutt attacks. Then I played the real game and it sucked, especially compared to that.

So the devs plan to destroy PvP is 95% complete, they get an "A" for that at least.

You can bring can bring anything you want as long as it's a cold.

The best part is you can go 0-400 and still have a low chance of a recipe drop.

I wish you best of luck but seriously think your best shot is to move a couple toons to Freedumb or possibly Justice or Virtue for a Hami Raid.

Quote:Plenty of lower level players still play. I can sympathize with you regarding Aion (lvl 41 Gladiator) and the grind gets way worse after 38 or so.Hey guys and gals,
I've been playing MMO's for years, from WoW, Guildwars, Warhammer and now to Aion and LOTRO. I like the graphics of Aion but absolutely hate the grind of Aion after level 25.
So my question is this.... Is it worthwhile to start playing a game where people have been playing for months or even years. In LOTRO when I started a new account, I realized that there were no players the newbie zones and that meant that there were no players to group with in instances.
If I start playing this game am I going to be running solo until I get to a high level?
Any ideas?
Thanks
CoH is the un-MMO, it tends to be more casual and less grind-centric thatn your typical MMO. It also tends to be alt focused, while a few folks have 1 or a few characters most players have many and that means there will always be lower level characters running around.
I'd recommend avoiding farms and power leveling the first few times up so you can enjoy the journey.* Enjoy and welcome to the game.
* I'm not anti-PL by any stretch but new players should enjoy the 1-50 run a few times before they decide they need a (fill in the blank) at 50 for PvP/whatever other reason. -
