  1. You serious?

    [ QUOTE ]
Ugh, I got over a thousand of these stupid things, and I haven't so muched as glanced at them in over 2 years. DC, Marvel, most of the Indyclix even a custom clix based on my Tank, all of em sitting there collecting dust....

    Anyone wanna buy em?

    [/ QUOTE ]
  2. Got it last Christmas for my 9 year old and I to play. It is a pain to setup, we've only played 3 times since December. Once we get a bigger place and don't have to setup on the kitchen table we may play more often.

But yeah the stats on the CoH Clix are unreal! My son took out my whole army with just the Positron Clix from the CoV set.

    <QR>

Oh man I LUSTED after HeroScape for Christmas two years ago. Ended up getting CoH instead, which in retrospect was easier. No setup required, storage is minimal, and I can play whenever I want!

But yeah...blending HeroScape warriors with HeroClix figs would be an interesting exercise.

    [/ QUOTE ]
  3. I'm using the ones that came with CoV in a game called Heroscape. There's already Vikings, robots, secret agents, and ninjas so Positron, etc fit right in. The CoH-clix stats are WAY more powerful than the ones that came with Heroscape so we had to "dumb them down" a bit.

    [ QUOTE ]
Anyone play HeroClix? Have you used the CoX characters while playing? Have you made custom figures based on your City of Heroes characters?

    I've done all of that.

Currently I'm working on creating the remaining members like Sister Psyche, Back Alley Brawler and Synapse. I need help determining what their stats would be. Any suggestions?

    [/ QUOTE ]
  4. Same thing happend to me the other day. Stop the robbers, exit. Seems like we did a few safeguards so maybe it was just for the temp powers, or like you say quick XP. We did quite a few mishes that night so we were really rolling along...

    [ QUOTE ]
Could be they've got the badges already. Could be they just want to go do other stuff for more mission bonuses (more XP over time.) Could be they just don't care about the second half. Could be they didn't know. Could be lots of things.

  5. IS there a listing somewhere of what the different Origin Enh's translate to? For example a damage enhancement could be Lei Too's bracelet or Benedict's force crusher, or Numb-Nuts Follicle depending on the origin. It would be nice to have a chart translating which is which so if I'm on my Natural Peacebringer I don't have to spend 10 minutes trying to find what a Natural To-Hit ench is called...

    Thanks!

    Never mind, found one:

    Very nice one too!
  6. Thanks for this guide. I finally hit 50 1 week ago on my elec/elec blaster and immediately logged and rolled a Warshade. I'd been reading everything I could up until then, seeing how close I was to 50, and this guide was one of the things that I read.

It was hard to picture at first, but now that I'm actually playing one, I dance from form to form. I only have Human/Nova as I'm only lvl 12 now. I tend to stay mostly in Human Form to hunt and stalk through missions, alone and in teams, switching to Nova to blast.

My favorite thing to do is to find a Quantum/Void and tp them to me, hit them with the snare, chop them with the undead axe, blast to the face, punch them, trank them - wash/rinse/repeat until K.O.'d Quantum/Void lies at my feet. I've been pretty successful so far with this tactic, out of the 20 or so I've tried, I think I only made 2 or 3 trips to the hospital. In fact, I do worse in teams because they get the Void all riled up, I don't have a chance to tp it to me, and it blasts away at me from range!

Can't wait for dwarf, takes THREE to tango!

But this guide has been invaluable, thanks! Looking forward to another 38 levels of "Dancing with the Voids"!
  7. Rarely having the star, except in some cases by default, I'm not much of a leader. I'd much rather jump on as the 8th member of a fuly loaded, and mission heavy team. Rarely happens, but hey it's nice when it does.

I tend to team exclusively, I HATE to solo and will accept blind invites and tells, and broadcasts...whatever. Those rare occasions where I do have the star, I send tells. Carefully avoiding those already on teams, I look for those within +/- 1 level to myself or average team level if more than one. I do read the search comments, if it says NOT lft or indicates the person would rather solo I leave them alone, but if there's no comment, even if not lft flag is up, I send a short tell, "lv xx, so and so mish (or type of enemies) in such and such, interested?.

Most people reply, some with "sure" and I send an invite, some with "no thnks I'm..." about to log, not interested, etc and I usually send "ty gl" or something to that effect, and some don't reply, which is fine too, I just leave those alone.

The only time I would send a blind invite is in response to a request in broadcast/request channels. If I have star, room on team, they're the right lvl to hang, I shoot them an invite. I know how it is to be out there begging and pleading so I invite them. Most accept, some are already taken, some just join to check out the scene and then drop, whatever...

Bottom line, I'd have to say that the MOST fun I've had in the game have been on PuG's. I hate to solo, I don't have any RL friends that play, I *see* people on that I've teamed with before, but not regularly so PuG's are my main source of pleasure from CoX. Even the Supergroups that I've tried don't give me as many teaming opportunities. Most of the time I'm the only one on, or the lvl's are wildly different, etc.

So as SOON as I log on, my LFT flag goes up, and I'm beggin and pleadin in the broadcast channel for a team!
  8. *bump* to restart this for new folks, suce as myself looking for the info, and to add it to my favorites!

I'm not sure, but maybe it would fix it to put the binds in binds.txt in an order that removes each action that conflicts from a key you don't use it with before assigning it to one you do use it with.
For example, if 'back' is generating the error when you assign it to D, assign 'left' to S before assigning 'back' to D.
    It might look something like

    LEFT +turnleft
    RIGHT +turnright
    A +up
    S +left
    D +backward
    F +right

Or whatever the actual assignments you want are. Tweak the order of key assignment rather than doing them alphabetically.

I'd also rename it default.txt so it doesn't get overwritten since you've had to adjust it by hand.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think I see your point, for example, if "s" is assigned to "+down", as a default, I should maybe do, "Bind s nop" and THEN "bind s +turnleft"?
  10. That's a problem I've always had with the key binds. Since the days of Quake I I've used "asdf" for movement - jump/left/back/right - and use the same keys in every game so it's like I've got the movements down from the start. Unfortunately every time I start a new character, and try to set up my binds using a pre-made bind file, I type in "bind_load_file e:\coh\binds.txt I get an error message saying "something is limited to 2 binds". There's about 7 keys total that I'd like to change from the outset, then as the character grows and develops, there are other keys that I'd change indivifually.

Does anyone know if the "bind_load_file" is limited to 2 binds? Maybe I could "chain" files together? Do a couple of binds, "bind_load_file" with a couple more binds and "Bind_load_file" another couple of binds...

It would be nice to be able to setup new characters without a lot of hassle...
  11. *Very* nice. Although I only created a Ninja MM a few days ago, I noticed that there aren't too many (if any) guides for the Ninja's out here. Although I picked TA as my secondary the info on the Ninja's themselves was very detailed and informative and I read every word.

    Thanks again!

Fun is had by all. = Can't emphasize it enough >.< There's a fine line between an "effective' PUG and a "good" PUG in my experience... effective gets you a boatload of xp... but generally bores you outta your skull; people only talk for organizational purposes, and in the smallest number of words possible. A *good* PUG has a degree of entertainment to it; players feel free to make jokes; talk about character history, maybe RP a lil (depends on server and who's in the group); etc...

    That's my list!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I just got CoV weekend before last and I had some of the best PUG experiences in this last 2 weeks than in a year of CoH!

BIIIIIIG shout-out to A player called Darken Brute who was the coolest leader I've run into yet. As soon as a mish ended, the next was up, even if HE had to go train/sell. If someone was lagging behind, he'd ask gently, if they were on the way, and/or should we start without them. In the mishes he took charge and led the way. A very nice experience!

99% of my play experience is in PUG's, and it's times like this that make me enjoy the game that much more.

    . . .

When you can remember what BBS's were? HINT: You used a 1200 baud modem to play ANSI games online and chat with your friends.

LOL I was a sysop for a few BBS's, and even created some door games that were popular locally. . .

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sure do, I actually ran an 8-line BBS here in the Pittsburgh, PA area and for a while it was the biggest one in this area. Started out with 2400 baud modems on all 8 nodes and then began switching to 14.4 one by one. Caused quite a commotion at that time, some folks would ONLY log into a 14.4 node and would call for hours unitl one was free.

    Ahh the good ol days
  14. [ QUOTE ]
The Internet was dial-up only BBS's. 2400 baud with text compression was the bomb. That sometimes you had to switch the modem to function as a rotary dial phone and needed a handset adapter.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I actually setup my own 8-line BBS and had people calling me from all over America to find out how I, at that time (late 80's early 90's) set up an 8 line BBS using 1 PC with only 4 serial ports. This was pre-email days and I was just starting to incorporate e-mail from the internet (another amazing process for that time) onto my BBS. A combination of my ex-wife and I buying a house and the emergence of the World Wide Web killed our, and most other, BBS's.

BTW, I'd also like to say that at 48, I'm probably one of the older members of this thread, but I am enjoying it immensely. The memories!

Has anyone thought of maybe starting a Super Group of "mature folks"? The Elder Statesmen or something like that? We could have chapters on each server...
  15. I'd like to say that I prefer teaming over playing solo, only soloing when I have to clear low level missions, and maybe street sweeping mishes. The majority of my PuG experiences have been great, and too many to mention here.

I will say that I did my first ever respec trial last friday and other than having to restart after 2 mishes because we started out on invincible, it went swimmingly. After reading all the horror stories from that OTHER PuG thread I was actually surprised when it was over. Picked my respec from the list (was even kindly reminded by a veteran of the trial that we had to SELECT the respec or we wouldn't get it) and even picked up a few friends that I've been teaming with since then.

    Love my PuG's...

  16. Reading this with interest, I LOVE my elec/elec blaster, my highest and favorite hero and I just hit level 26. From Hero Planner:

And it's working pretty well for me. I did respec with the I6 freee respec but the only thing I changed, really, was to take 3 slots from Hasten and replace Combat Jump with Hover. I like my Hero and he holds his own, mostly on teams, with +3 mobs. Even solo I have no trouble with +1-2 baddies.

I've only run out of end once or twice since I got stamina and I'm the one passing out blues to my teammates. I've got no problems with ED, I thought I would from all the hooting and hollering about it before it came out, but it's ok by me.

I've only been playing since late June, about 4 months, but I'm still having a blast and will probably still continue to play.

I like teaming better than soloing because of the synergy. It's (mostly) fast paced and action packed. Most of my power/slotting picks are pretty much along those lines.

I'd welcome any input, good or bad on my guy. The powers and slotting are accurate up to 26, and I plan to keep to the rest as planned unless I get info to the contrary. The slotting choices may not be as accurate. I was just putting into the planner what I *thought* I'd be using. Most of the main powers up to 26 have DO's but the choices my vary due to finances and or availability.

    Thanks.
