Well one of the only reason i can see in taking aid other is incase someone has defeated the last foe in the mob and someone may need healing well that saves them from the rest button but before for aid self why not. Stimulant will offer a free from sleep though.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, if someone is in need of healing he should haul his six to the next mob (the one I am probably already fulcrum shifting) and he will be healed in no time. If it´s a problem to find the next mob... Well, in this case he doesn´t need healing.
Medicine pool for kinetics... Other than for concept reasons I will never understand that. -
Oh, I have specced in Taunt on my Elec/Elec brute, but only at level 49 since I found it useful for one single thing: the Recluse SF.

Thugs Brute using Handclap/Hurl Boulder to Exclusion
The final henchman in the Thugs Primary is designed to be a Brute - a melee thug. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, he is overly fond of a non-damaging attack (Handclap) and a ranged attack (Hurl Boulder).
Proposed Fix: The recharge times on these may need to be modified from their normal so that the Bruiser is more inclined to go for a melee attack chain.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am not convinced this would work. The bruiser seems to be perfectly happy standing around doing nothing but wait for Hurl to recharge, so I suppose if the recharge time was longer he would simply wait somewhat longer.
Considering that ninja and zombies have similar (if not as crippling) issues with ranged attacks being preferred over melee this problem seems to be a little bit more complex. -
Lord Recluse´ Spinnenbeine... mmmmmmh.

All I can say is; It's down to the tank to decide how the tank wishes to play. It is his (or her) toon. That's the sum of it, as far as I'm concerned.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds good to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds good to me, too.
But I should add that it is up to me to decide who I want to team with. When I see a tanker that seems to be afk with taunt on auto during fights I feel that he is not contributing as much as he could. (It is not unusual that a tanker does this once in a while to get something to drink from the kitchen or something like that, but that is not every fight.) So, when I look for a good tanker this guy won´t be top of my list.
And when I see that my defender gets his teeth kicked in because the tank does not care about aggro management, that is a case where I will actively avoid ever teaming with that tanker again.
Worst case scenario was once when I teamed with a friend (peacebringer and warshade) and two other guys: one tanker and one empath. Looked like a decent little team at first sight but soon turned out to be anything but that. The tanker obviously didn´t have a clue what he was doing. He ran around rather aimlessly, attacking once in a while and didn´t have taunt or any taunt aura. When asked he explained that he didn´t like those powers since they made enemies hit him!
Just to top it off the empath declared after a very needless near-teamwipe that he was sorry for the bad healing but he was chatting on ICQ and had the so-called tanker on follow with his aura heal on auto.
Almost needless to say that we left that team ASAP.
So, basically even those two may play their toons as they wish to, but there is no way that I will tolerate reduced fun and increased debt because of walking talking team debuffs anywhere near me. -
I think two slots is minimum for SB. In many cases the first slot only cancels out the higher end usage because of the big end-hungry clickies coming back faster. I regularly drain my endurance despite Speed Boost if it is only one-slotted.
Two slots will do for all but the most end-consuming toons. However, I always aim for three slots in SB. -
I have tried stalker´s Hide + Stealth against Rikti drones. Didn´t work. Since this is way over the stealth cap of any non-stalker AT a MM will be seen by them anytime.
Talking about stealth cap: It is highly unlikely that you will find a situation (in PvE) where you notice a difference between SS+Stealth and SS+Invis. -
I think Lecxe would agree with me that by doing that you would qualify as a tanker doing his job.
Just imagine Lecxe´s example with you being just a taunt-bot and your Mrs healing and defending, both without any real damage output. You would be perfectly safe but so would the enemies.
In my book you would qualify as "scranker" if you would just pound on on or two enemies and wouldn´t care too much if the rest of the guys went after your Mrs. But given the fact that she is your Mrs I find that highly unlikely in any case. -
"Concept" is always the best reason for certain kinds of choices.
And the builder problems are all too common. Quite often I experience something like "wandering" enhancements after loading a saved char or slots disappearing for good after unselecting a power. Once it was a nice surprise when I realized that I had two slots more to distribute than I had planned. -
I find it a little bit weird how some people view tanks as defined by their primary powerset alone. The best tankers I know actually attack quite a lot.
However, I have to say that there are toons I would definitely call "Scrankers". In the mid-twenties they are easily identified by their power choices since they typically take almost any secondary power and only so many armours. Sometimes this does not even include any form of status protection at this point (mid-twenties).
In the late game their sets look a lot more balanced, but their playstyle is definitely untankerish. They don´t care about aggro at all, but instead they go after one enemy at a time and generally do their own thing. (Still expecting to be healed by the defender who is fighting for his life, of course.) Some of them even skip their taunt auras because they actally try to avoid aggro.
So, a word like "Scranker" is translated as "bad Tanker" in my book. I really don´t care how a tanker runs his aggro management thing and I am thankful if he even adds some damage (like decent fire tanks for example) or control (like a good ice tank) to the mix, but if I invite a tanker who turns out to be a durable but sub-par scrapper I am a little bit annoyed. -
I am not convinced... not at all. I like playing kinetic defenders and corruptors and my highest villain is a sonic/kinetic, but your build seems kind of odd in some regards. In detail:
Transfusion - 2 acc should be sufficient, but if you feel you really need the third one...
Shriek - 4 damage and only 1 acc? I guess this is just a mistake...
Scream - 4 damage again? You know that after ED the 4th dam is almost completely wasted, don´t you? It is not like those slots couldn´t be useful in other places.
Siphon Power - I don´t like this power after fulcrum shift. It might be useful as boss debuff, but you can do so many things that help you more that I felt like using this power slot for something different.
Siphon Speed - If you want to use your full potential you should add two acc here. It is really painful when Siphon Speed misses.
Aid Other - Do you really think that you need a single heal? A waste of power slots and time if you ask me. Give the empath his share and do some kinetic stuff.
Speed Boost - Your team mates will be thankful if you add two more end mod here. Several of my toons can deplete their endurance despite of stamina and one-slotted speed boost. This is a lot harder to do with triple-slotted speed boost. The difference is very noticeable if you have end-heavy toons.
Shout - Again, the fourth dam is not worth the slot.
Aid Self - Are you frightened of enemy mobs? You shouldn´t be. You are a kinetic. If you need healing close in on some unsuspecting minion and use transfusion. For a kinetic Aid Self is quite a sorry choice.
Lack of stamina - With transference you may well be able to go stamina-less, but when I see some power choices that are basically "fillers" I think you could afford taking it. And in some situations, such as when transference misses, you might be very happy about stamina since you will be burning endurance fast.
Invisibility - Superspeed, Stealth and Invisibility seem to be a little bit too much for PvE. Two end in Invisibility look a little bit odd since there is not much to do when you are invisible anyway ("only affecting self").
Transference - So, what´s the deal here? PvE or PvP? For PvP and fights against EBs I would recommend slotting a third end mod. The end drain is really nice.
Phase Shift - As a kinetic I feel a great deal of pain if I have to take a pause. The longer you can keep going the longer you feel the ultimate power of stacked siphon speed and fulcrum shift. Taking myself out of the fight to be able to do something I could do anyway (get away alive) since I am the fastest creature around? Even if you beat me with a stick I would not take this power on my kinetics.
Amplify - I doubt that you will profit from slotting to hit in this power. Accuracy bonus is big enough as it is. But a third recharge would be nice.
Fulcrum Shift - One more recharge please. You definitely want to stack this one as often as possible.
Siren´s Song - This one is quite useful if you solo a lot. Otherwise you will get a lot more mileage from Screech.
Dreadful Wail - 2 disorient dur are hardly needed. I don´t know how strong the defenders´ version of this power is, but when I do this on my corruptor (triple slotted for damage and recharge) there is not much left standing. And if something survives it goes down before unslotted disorient wears off.
Thunder Strike - This one looks really weird. No acc, but disorient duration? I just don´t get it.
Charged Armour - This toggle is not too expensive, so one end is debatable (if you have the spare slots...), but two are definitely too much. Attacks and other clickies are the big endurance eaters and you have not six-slotted too many of them.
Power Sink - So, you want to be the big drainer... Well, if you really have to go stamina-less and/or like PvP this is definitely useful.
Howl - I would advise taking this power earlier... a lot. That way you could even slot it appropriately. It is not like you had too many AoEs. -
I usually play on relentless unless I am in danger of levelling too fast for my contacts.
-
Which is a decent choice if you have no options of greater importance. SS+Fly ist something like a license to be-there-first... almost regardless where "there" is.
-
After some trying around I have given kinetic archery a chance and am very happy with it.
I love kinetics (speeeeeeeeeed) and with no endu-crash it is so satisfying to unleash fulcrum-shifted Rains of Arrows as often as I can (and that is quite often).
So, Zagreus is like a decent backup blaster with a bag full of buffs, heals and other nice tools. As a result there is little incentive to play non-kinetic defenders for me. -
I have to agree, although /Regen stalkers can be quite tough against single opponents.
And yes, a /SR stalker´s Hide is as good as a /Regen stalker´s Hide although as a /Regen stalker you may find yourself to be unveiled by enemy AoEs more often since you only have the AoE defense granted by the Hidden status and no other defense like in SR. -
I was talking about the AVs triangles, of course. EBs are trivial even for one dominator.
It´s easiest with two mind/ doms using confuse. That one stacks nicely before anyone has aggro.
But it can be done with telekinesis and dominate, too, although at a greater risk of retaliation.
If there is only one AV/Hero present I would recommend using both on one target in case of dropping MAG because of several missed mezzes. -
)
Was war denn alles dabei? -

Domination itself is never up in PvP, because you dont survive long enough.
And mez protection in domination? HAHA
If a blaster two-shots you it doesnt matter if youre stunned or not between those two hits.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, the situation you describe is a blapper ganking a squishy. I don´t expect domination to save me from this as I wouldn´t expect Scourge to save my corruptor´s behind in the same situation... although domination might even grant you a chance of survival if you are good/lucky. Anyway, it prevents the ice blaster freezing you from afar and the darkie´s petrifying gaze is a lot less petrifying.
I totally see your point with domination never being up in PvP. If I didn´t have more to spam than just dominate and mesmerize (which are far from anything that I would call an attack chain) I wouldn´t live long enough to see domination up either.
And since I don´t want to let this conversation veer too much into PvP either, I have to add something about advantages of domination in PvE and why it is good to have fast-domination builds: Domination enhances duration and MAG of your mezzes. This may not be too much of an issue if your team is mowing through normal mobs, but two dominators using domination can demonstrate that the dreaded purple triangles of doom grant no perfect mez protection.
... and I guesss without domination it woul take ages to solo EBs. -
<blockquote><font class="small">Antwort auf:<hr />
What I wanted to point out is that dominators feel more *controllerish* than controllers themselves, imo, having to focus on the primary.
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering your missing trust in domination this statement is no big surprise. On the other hand this is exactly the point, why domination seems not to be working for you.
If I relied too much on my mind/ primary it would be a lot harder to build domination (and PvP would be next to impossible), but with a nice mix of /psi secondary powers neither domination nor Pvp are too much of a problem. Even if your PvP opponent brought breakfrees he will notice the power boost from domination and the -recharge from psi... and your mez protection due to domination running.
PS: And you are totally right about Total Domination. IMO it´s hardly worth taking as it is since there is so much good control in mind/. -
Some things I have read in this thread confuse me... Talking about confuse: I love my mind/psi dominator not only because of her good looks, but because she is so damn powerful. I am quite impressed how easily she takes on almost anything. Soloing Elite-Bosses is no real challenge... although I have to admit she is quite weak if I compare her to what she will become after I8.
I recently took my I8 build to Test (very aggressive domination building) and was honestly shocked. I took on groups of six +1/+2 enemies and they actually dropped really fast without doing any harm to me. Sure, my brute or my corruptor would have dropped them slightly faster (although not much), but both of them would have taken some damage during that fight. Did I mention that domination was up after one such spawn and the next enemies thus fell even faster?
And I have to add that I thought similar things when I read Hammerfall´s posting. Domination too slow to bother? Corruptors not being a damaging class but stalkers are? Sorry, but at least mind/psi builds domination fast enough that it is up most of the time (and will - like mentioned - be even better after I8) and with my kinetic corruptor I outdamage any stalker without breaking into a sweat... well, actually not quite without breaking into a sweat, but that´s kinetic style. -
...which is one of the reasons why I love my sonic/kin corruptor. Superfast fulcrum-shifted and souldrained res-debuffing attacks just make me smile.
