  1. If I could only get a fire/fire blaster and an empath to team with my warshade. Then I had only to convince the empath that the blaster doesn´t need healing...
  2. I never had too many problems with quants/voids. I often play in a double-kheldian-team with a friend and we often say "Dooooooooom!" jokingly on TS when we spot a quant/void. Most of the time the would-be kheldi-killer is down before we are finished.

But to that "suggestion": This is most definitely not a good idea. There are enough kheldian noobs around as it is. I think the argument that you paid for the game and should be able to play everything you want because of that is not valid IMO. I can´t even count all the games I have paid for and where I had to unlock cool extras by beating the game once (or even several times) or doing even more ludicrous things a lot more tiresome than getting a "normal" toon to 50.
  4. I think Power Sink (at least on an Elec/Elec brute) is well worth the activation time since it is not only a power for endurance recovery but also for endurance drain on all enemies in melee range. Since you have melee attacks that drain endurance and debuff endurance recovery you won´t have much to fear from (Elite-)Bosses as soon as they´re out of blue.
But even with Power Sink you need either Stamina or Conserve Energy (or a pocket kinetic) to keep going indefinitely. With all the armour toggles I found that easier to do with Stamina, but for those who have slots for endurance reduction left and need the power slots from the fitness pool for something else Conserve Energy might be an option.
  5. If you want to go Nova/Dwarf you are definitely looking for a Warshade. Nothing beats the Purple Flying Fortress of Doom.
You might want to read this for some inspiration.
  6. As an Elec/Elec brute you will hardly have any trouble with sappers. In the 40ies your drain resistance is high enough to ignore sappers completely. (I had never laughed so hard at Malta sappers until I faced them with my Elec/Elec.)
So, your options are totally sapper-independent:
First, you should really keep Build Up. It´s damage bonus is really worth the slot, especially for some nice burst damage with Lightning Rod and Thunder Strike.
Second, you will want to have some health and endurance management. Both can be achieved with four power slots (as you don´t have a self heal in you secondary set).
You could go stamina-less and skip the fitness pool. You would need Power Sink and Conserve Power for endurance and two powers from the medicine pool with the second being Aid Self for health. With this configuration I would recommend also getting Lightning Clap to reduce the interrupt risk with Aid Self.
The second option is the one I use for my PvE machine. I have Stamina and Power Sink for basically unlimited endurance and health for... well, health. Conserve Power and Lightning Clap are not needed.
Whatever you do, have fun with your brute.
  8. I think I have to add something, too:
    - I have to agree that a little bit more duration in Confuse would be a very nice thing. Especially with /kin you should be able to stack MAG like mad or start something like a confusion spree. IMO well slotted Confuse adds considerably more control than Mass Domination and immensely more control than Mass Hypnosis. (Never liked Mass Hypnosis and never will.)
    - Hasten. Definitely get Hasten. Building a /kin without Hasten is a little bit like making running shoes with stiletto heels.
    - You will want to have 3 recharge SOs in Siphon Speed. That way you will be able to stack it as often as possible and your clickies will be back in no time because of that insane recharge buff. (Although it might be a little bit awkward to maneuver without Hover and with triple-stacked Siphon Speed.)
    - If you dance the kinetic salsa you will definitely not need all those EndRdx. Consider changing some of them (or redirecting them to Confuse and Siphon Speed).
Hope you have fun with your toon.

    MM Macro ?

You might want to read this. Works wonders.
  15. I wouldn´t be too concerned about Psi´s damage output as it is that fast building domination. Also, if it is enough to solo EBs in just a little more time than a brute (but so much safer since he does not strike back) and to outdamage a corruptor while duoing Infernal during the Tarikoss SF (while the rest of the team watched from afar... We mouthed off a little bit too much beforehand. ) then I feel that the damage can not be that bad.
  16. You seem to be in great fear of not having enough endurance. Rest assured, Transference and Power Sink will provide ample supply.
So, even if you plan for PvP in SC that´s no reason to be that timid with your post 40-slots. EndRdx in Power Sink might be very situational as you will likely apply it mainly as endurance debuff as soon as it is up rather than as endurance filler when you are in dire need (and as such a third EndMod would rule).
And two EndRdx in Charged Armor, Assault and Tactics are definitely overkill. None of these toggles are that expensive. I can understand one EndRdx in Assault as you do not have too many choices there, but all the others are definitely not needed and would be of greater use otherwise (third DamRes in Charged Armor, third EndMod in SB, more DamRes in ID etc.).

Let's just all agree that Sonic is an awesome set

    /em agree
I love my sonic/kin corruptor. Loud and fast I say...
  18. I have to agree with the posts stating that it boils down to what the team is like. I would say with most of the sets you have at least the potential to be a GOOD defender if you are willing to play as the given set and team dynamics demand.
Empaths are easy to adapt to most situations, but they can be quite boring and besides healing there is not much you can do for yourself if something goes wrong.
Kinetics can be a little bit risky if there is no good aggro control, but otherwise kinetics will rock the house anyday.
Rad and Dark are somewhere in between. Not as dull as empathy, not as thrilling as kinetics, but nice sets with a lot of potential.
The other sets I like very much as additional support, but leave me a little bit nervous if there is nothing else defenderish around.
Just choose what you think fits your playstyle.

Shockwave is is a great escape button, and usefull for minion herding or tanker support. While the tank is keeping them all aggroed on him you can happily let rip with it knowing they will all just keep trying to hit the tanker, and all the time they are flying backwards is less damage the tank is getting hit by.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As a rule of thumb, tanks dont tend to like about enemies they have herded getting knockbacked out of their taunt aura..

    [/ QUOTE ]
Exactly. And on top of that, invul and ice tanks are only two examples for "special effect" auras that give them def per enemy in range or slow the enemies down. So, knocking enemies back will actually cause the tanker to take more damage... and he will not like it a bit.
And I guess the fire tank who wanted to replenish his endurance won´t be too grateful if his drain misfires because of enemies flying out of range.
  20. Hmmmm, my thoughts about those powers:
Howl - Keep it. It´s not that you have too much AoE damage apart from your nuke. And the debuff for a whole spawn is always nice.
Shockwave - I never had much use for knockback, but since I am a sonic/kin corruptor and thus want to be close to my enemies your mileage may vary.
    Shriek - Useful. Keep it.
Siren´s Song - Useful/less at all levels, not much sleep res around. Can be a godsend solo, but achieves next to nothing in teams.
And Screech definitely has nowhere near the same damage as Shout. Don´t let yourself be fooled.
So, if I had to decide which power to skip it would be between Shockwave and Siren´s Song. I would say scrap Siren´s Song if you team a lot. There is quite a lot of AoE around post-30.

Very good point. Perhaps I should consider...

If the team needs some blasting get a blaster, an empath main function in team imo is healing/buffing. Empath's damage is smaller than any other AT, and I would really bi [censored] if I was playing a ddealer and died just to notice the empath was blasting away

    [/ QUOTE ]
So, you would say that the defender should leave the team and make room for a blaster? Of course, this blaster will have to leave the team occasionally if the team needs their buffs renewed or some heals...
Or is your point that "no damage" is better than "a little bit of damage"?
If you read my example carefully you might notice that nobody was even close to dying as it is quite often the case if everybody does their job. If the defender is blasting happily while team members who he could have healed die, then he is omitting an important part of his job.
It is very much comparable to the tanker´s aggro management thingy. As long as enemies´ attention is on the tanker I am very thankful if he crushes some heads, fries some crispies etc. Equally, I am thankful if the defender starts shooting pointy sticks or malicious psionics at those same enemies when everything is buffed and healthy.
All I say is that it is nonsense to deny tankers and defenders their secondary. With the same right you could tell the scrapper to not use his armour toggles, because they are a waste of endurance as it is his job to dish out damage and not to take it.
  23. Sitriel

    Stereotyping?

There sure is a lot of nitpicking going on here, but I seriously doubt this will help any of the points being made.
So, let´s stay with the empath example:
Our little empath has buffed everything buffable, all is going well (partially because of these buffs), all health bars are in the green. What should he do during the time until the first buffs need to be reapplied or someone gets hurt? What are his options? He could
    a. Follow the group around, twiddling thumbs,
    b. Stare at the health bars, and if one moves for even 2% health toss some healing immediately, even if that means overhealing quite a bit,
    c. Reapply buffs immediately although they still have most of their duration left,
    d. Get something to drink from the kitchen,
    e. Blast a little if he has the endurance to spare
    or
    f. Leave that team immediately since he is obviously leeching.
I know which option I would pick.
  24. As mentioned before I have drained my endurance completely with single-slotted SB on me, and quite easily I must say. My dark/dark stalker and my energy/invul brute are the most notable examples of this kind of super-drainers.
Of course, this only applies if you play like you always want to play as brute or kinetic: frickin´ fast. The bigger the enemy spawns and the faster you get from spawn to spawn the easier it is to overcome single-slotted SB. With triple-slotted SB I never had to stop for even a second.
