While flying in Nova form through the endless narrow corridors on a huge Oranbega map (being Speed Boosted on top of that) with, errrm, some difficulty:
"Do you know the Kheldian name for Oranbega? - Splat." -
Quote:This can not be stressed enough. I can not even count anymore how often I saw controllers and dominators ruin a tank pull or even wipe a team by throwing an AoE immob. Often with strange reasons.Well, as they say, Crushing Field is not a useful Control by itself.
For example, in one team I was playing "Kheldian tennis" with a team mate (we threw enemies back and forth with our Kheldian attacks) when the troller used not a hold, not a debuff, not anything remotely useful but his AoE immob and thus negated the knockback that was our main (one could say almost only) damage mitigation. The reason? "It is my best AoE damage." Did I mention that it was an earth troller? Not exactly the powerset of choice if you want damage.
But back to the wormhole question: Take it and learn to use it to the best effect possible! It is not as easy to use as a simple AoE hold or stun, but it is by far superiour to that miserable AoE hold and offers a lot of fun options to boot. -
Ah, yes, the old "how can my squishie survive the beatings" question...
Blasters are sometimes a bit difficult to keep alive, because the one thing they excel at is damage which can be a pain in the posteriour when you meet mobs that are resistant to your damage type(s). Because of that the best thing you can do for survivability is know your enemy (and choose your missions wisely).
The next best thing is play to your strengths and go all out whenever you can without getting yourself killed instantly.
Less than a month ago Banestalker, my AR/NRG blaster dinged 50 and I soloed him most of the time. I got lucky and had many outdoor Nemesis missions during the last levels which made for some quick and easy xp on CL 4. With Boost Range and Build Up most spawns went down with a simple combination of Sniper Rifle or LRM Rocket and Full Auto before they even came into range for any significant return fire. Anything that survived including bosses was often affected by that panic effect that happens when you do lots of damage in short time and even bosses are not really dangerous when they run in circles. And then there was still Beanbag and Power Thrust...
So, all you have to do is find that "sweet combination" for your blaster that kills/panics/mezzes a good portion of your enemies before they can do too much harm. And do not give up on them too easily. Many blasters are late bloomers, mainly because they get some nice high-level powers and desperately need those massive enhancement slots from level 31+. -
I hope not.
Orbital stations of doomity doom against an infinite arsenal of lethal smileys... I have to see that.
Oh, and Australia is a good call. It is handy enough to be dropped precisely and at the same time heavy enough to do some damage and filled with all kinds of poisonous and venomous things to boot. -
Quote:You know as much as anybody that there can be no logical non-IC reason for such a thing. The reason why they are not included are written in the CoH lore and they are IC if anything.I for one would like a dev to explain why hero epic AT's aren't going to be included in the i16 colour customisation.
And I'm not interested in "IC" reasons, because they're just an artificial reason that can be applied equally to every single AT in the game, so that's not going to wash.
A valid and logical reason why not, if you please.
But, actually, the IC reasons that apply to Kheldians can not be applied to every single AT in the game. For your blaster, your tanker, your dominator and whatever you decide where their powers come from and how they work. Therefore, if you decide that their fire attacks should be green there is nobody who can claim that they should not.
But Kheldians come in a package that includes racial background and origin of powers. Their natural powers are bright white and when they scientifically alter their very being their powers turn to a darkish purple. No Nictus chose to be purple rather than white, it was just a side effect of their transmutation.
Apart from becoming Nictus there is nothing Kheldians can do about the appearance of their powers, just like we can not change the colour of our blood.
As much as I would like to see a return of the blood-red Nova of early Void Hunter days it is a bit problematic for IC reasons.
Of course you could claim that your Kheldian has invented some kind of device that [insert effect here] and has the side effect of tinting your powers in a hot pink, but assuming that every other Kheldian must have invented a similar device because there are Kheldians in all colours of the rainbow around the place is a bit of a stretch to say the least. -
I think I got a really good solution: Just give Damz the gold title "Spam and Disrespectful".
That way all are happy. -
Hehe, that billion thing is always a bit confusing, especially when you come from a country where you have not only million -> 1000 million -> billion -> 1000 billion but rather Million -> Milliarde -> Billion -> Billiarde, so that per default the British system looks a lot more convincing and "correct".

What kind of car was that bumper sticker on? A hearse?

My new invention could have helped you with your Marilyn Monroe question. Originally I wanted to invent the breadar, a device to help the US Navy against Cuban bread, but unfortunately I lost a letter and now I got a bradar which is also useful but does something... different.
The other problem is that I only invented this device in a dream, but seeing your name that should not be a problem. -
Hmmm, maybe the US Navy is relying too much on their instruments. Old Cuban bread probably does not show up on their radar and when they see it coming it is already too late to ready the milk bottles... or the ducks.
Ah, well, since it is about 5am now where I live I think I will sleep over it and maybe invent some kind of surveillance equipment in my dream that warns of incoming bread. I think I will call it breadar. -
Old Cuban bread? That does not sound like a very effective weapon. It is far too easily countered with hot milk or very large ducks.
However, it does still sound awesome. -
Gasparilla seems just like the kind of party for an old seadog like me and Guavaween... well, the name made me laugh. Now, all I have to do is cross that tiny puddle of water with that funny name... Athynalantic or so.

Careful with that confetti, Athyna! Before you know it we might have a Mardi Gras at our hands.
-
All that jazz? That may be a little much celebration just for not having to know Hugh Grant.

Seriously, I think only very few people who feel the need for CoX to guard against CO have taken a look or two at the CO beta. Otherwise they would probably be much more relaxed.

Hiya!
I am Sitriel and I am a writer, not only because I am writing now, but because I generally do the whole writing thingy. Sometimes it even gets me a free month of playtime, one of those fancy Lord Recluse statues and stuff like that, at least that is how it worked over on the German boards.
Well, I know how to put two or three English words together, too, so chances are that some of you will read something from me sooner or later. -
*peers at Athyna's notes*
*blushes*
Well, that's Southern! -
Well, we have quite a lot of accents over here. So, I say... let her have one or two for free. Should mix interestingly with her Southern one.
-
Oh, yes, great athleticism... but a little bit shortsighted considering that he is not a toon. Fatal headaches may ensue.
And, Lady Athyna, you may drop all the pianos you want on these forums. No strings attached.
