  1. This gives me giggles and headaches at the same time. This can not be healthy.

    I absolutely agree with this.
Plus, I do not think MM buffs are a fair comparison. The reasons for the implementation of those changes do not really apply to shield buffs. Also, those powers can be balanced to give the correct amount of bang for the buck for a known number of pets while the number of targets for a bubble buff is less easy to predict. Just imagine a team of eight */FF MMs almost effortlessly stacking bubbles on all their pets... I can only speculate how bubble strength, recharge duration and endurance cost had to be adapted to make up for that. And for what? For a few guys who are too lazy to program some keybinds for quick and easy bubbling. Not good.
  3. There are actually quite some players who are not too fond of AE farming at all. The difficulty is finding them, though, between all the agricultural devotees.

Highlighted the problem for you. Or, to spell it out: too many don't. That should give you a different answer to your question, too.
Have seen too many players with a level 50 and the knowledge of a newborn whelp to believe otherwise. Makes PUG TF/SFs really painful... yes, even more than they were before the arrival of AE farming.

Sure. That way we can just copy&paste the answers from the other thread and get two threads for the price of one.

I just had a look at the "older" thread (from yesterday) and I must say that I have no idea what kind of build is asked for, but then again, I do not get the point of most build posting anyway. In my opinion builds are like gloves; what fits one does not necessarily fit others.
So, when the builds posted in that other thread are not quite what is needed, why not just change the bits that do not fit and try that build? You know, when you run into trouble you can always post your build and state your problem with it (survivability, endurance management etc.). Then, at least, one could make qualified suggestions how to fix that problem instead of having to make wild guesses.

  7. Thanks for the welcome!
As the others have already mentioned there is not too much activity on the German boards most of the time. Those who are not afraid of the rest of the world are quite active in the English-speaking parts of these boards, though. So, do not think you are safe from us just because it is deceivingly quiet in here.
  8. My list of active characters includes the following:
    5 Brutes
    5 Corruptors
    3 Blasters
    3 Controllers
    3 Defenders
    3 Masterminds
    2 Dominators
    2 Stalkers
    1 Scrapper
    1 Tanker
    1 Arachnos Soldier
    1 Arachnos Widow
    1 Peacebringer
    1 Warshade
  9. Hmmm, if you can make it work slot-wise you will have a lot of fun with that build.

    Ooooooooh!!!

Hey, nobody suggested farming you, so he should be cool with that.

But it is what the MA should be intended for.
  12. Oh, the coolest thing... that is hard to say.

    The coolest three would be:

Banestalker, AR/NRG blaster, finally got pretty close to what I want him to look like. He is inspired by the skeleton armours of the Coalition States troopers from Rifts (in case any of you know that old pen&paper RPG).
Yashokutaiyou, fire/rad controller, got a complete overhaul and now looks a bit like a radioactive version of Psycho Mantis from MGS.
Ailill Tighearnach, mace/WP brute, always knew he was really an elf... only that nobody believed him being that red-bearded giant that he is. (Only few told him so for the same reason. ) But magic goes strange ways and now he sometimes looks like a stereotypical elf from a fantasy game. And while I was at it I also gave him a Leprechaun costume.
  13. Well, I guess it is more profitable to get parents' votes by blaming violent computer games than it is to get gamers' votes by blaming bad parents.

Not only didn't she need the limo for the brief trip from her hotel to the meeting, not only did the drive incure several thousand Euros worth of costs for the taxpayer, no. To top things off that car got stolen in Spain, which really catapulted the story into the news and is likely to be the one single torpedo that'll sink the moderate party's ambitions.
Unfortunately we are stuck with two big parties that both walk the same path with different explanations. Both are easily insolent enough to assume they have to do the thinking for the people and pass corresponding laws, p***ing intelligent people off in the process.
On top of that, if you consider at least the last decade and pay attention to detail you might get the impression that both of those parties are desperately trying not to win elections. It is theatre... and a ridiculously pathetic one on top of that.

Also, they explained in that context that the pet controls were in a way part of MMs' inherent and that they were not planning on adding anythng similar to other ATs.

Heh, at first I was a bit surprised about that lifetime subscription offer for CO, but after I learned that they had hired the former lead designer of Hellgate: London for their marketing division and saw their whole marketing model I am not all that surprised anymore.
I am quite happy that the CO open beta starts soon. Then, finally, all can see that CO is simply a bad game that is hardly even worth the initial purchase, let alone monthly fees or a lifetime subscription. Too many decisions about the game design take all that is good about CoH/CoV and turn it upside down. Never tried a game that felt so hectic with such slow killing speed...
  19. It is not too long ago that my AR/NRG blaster dinged 50, so I might just share some of my experience with that combination.

    - Take Slug. Seriously, going for AoE damage is all fine and dandy, but you will need some ST damage for those pesky bosses.
    - Drop M30 Grenade, at least do not keep it beyond level 32 when you have Full Auto. By the time you might want to use it everything but bosses is dead and that grenade will hardly harm those.
    - Ignite... well, since it was nerfed that badly it is hardly worth the effort. There are faster and easier ways to kill stuff.
    - Conserve Power should be a must-have for an AoE-heavy build. Otherwise you would need a pocket kin or sacrifice many slots for endurance reduction if you do not want to rest after every other spawn.
    - Stun. I did never feel the need to take it. With Hasten and a bit of slotting you can perma-Beanbag that one mezzing lieutenant that survived your initial attack, so the only use of Stun would be for stacking stun effects on bosses and even that is only necessary if the boss is resistant to KB. Otherwise he will lie on his back most of the time anyway. (Slug helps a bit in that regard, too.) On top of that, with Boost Range you will often fire at enemies from outside their fire range and kill them before they get close enough.
    - Roughly the same is true for Cryo Freeze Ray, only without the mez stacking.
    - Surveillance on the other hand is a must-have. It makes your life so much easier against resistant mobs and bosses.

Just to illustrate my comments, during the later levels the typical encounter (solo on CL 4) will see you using only Sniper Rifle or LRM Rocket and Full Auto as attacks before you run to the next spawn. When Build Up is not up you will have to use Buckshot and Flamethrower on top of that and of course you need your ST stuff if there is a boss or some strange guy you somehow could not hit. (Because of that you definitely want Hasten and as much recharge bonus as you can find.)

  21. Well, if this legislation passes German gamers are definitely in deep trouble and that is not only because of the intended use.
In recent years laws in Germany are bad, really bad from a technical point of view. I remember seeing the first draft of a change to weapons law which had a very inaccurate definition of the term "weapon". Actually this definition was so inaccurate that even handcuffs were weapons according to that law. So, if they had not changed it back to something closer to the original form before passing legislation we would now have to apply for a weapons license before engaging in kinky games with our girls.
(Interestingly this change was done in a haste after a gun rampage in a German school, so there is even a kind of connection between this law and the one about violent games.)
So, judging by the technical quality of newer German laws I would be somewhat surprised if this law would not classify boxing games and most jump&runs as "violent".
That said I do not really think that this law will pass. The strongest supporters are known to be not only the most conservative but also the most uninformed and utterly stupid politicians Germany has to offer. I do not think any of them has actually ever used a computer for anything else than checking their emails... and even that is cast in doubt.
  22. Actually there are some MMs that perform quite well in melee with pets almost exclusively in bodyguard mode. Muireadhach Nuadha, my Necro/Storm MM is such a MM.
Also, the micromanaging of MMs' henchies in general is not so bad if you use good keybinds. Issuing new commands then is so fast and easy that you can do it during an average power activation.
  23. It is also the exact time when I plan on finishing lunch. Maybe I should throw in a fast day tomorrow...
  24. Hiya! Greetings from Germany!
From what we have been told the forum merge is permanent which is really a good thing, because many of us euro guys had concerns that our voices tend to be a bit overlooked by the devs. Plus, it is always nice to have more people to share your thoughts with.
  25. But Force Encephalon is right! If the devs continue like that CoH/CoV might even hold their own against upcoming competitors and we would not want that, would we?
