Hmmm, my vote is for dark/dark. On more than one occasion my stalker jumped right into the action with Oppressive Gloom running and spamming Touch of Fear and his patron hold (add a little bit Air Sup for perma-KD) when the brute had to leg it, even critting with Placate + Midnight Grasp between two tics of OG. Normal modus operandi in a team includes spiking the biggest threat to death and immediately generating as much control as possible. Stalk-o-trolling can be quite fun at times.
But if you absolutely have to take a different secondary set I would recommend Ninjutsu as Caltrops can be a squishy saver at times and Blinding Powder is a nice team-friendly tool, too. Other stalker secondaries offer no similar benefits to your teammates and regeneration even gets weaker the biggger the team is. (You know, flat damage mitigation and all that...)
From the remaining stalker primaries energy melee could be worth a try (if power picks/slot allocation should prove to be too difficult for dark/ninjutsu) as killing fast and stunning the survivors should be more team-friendly than other sets' secondary effects. -
That one looks very nice, although I would definitely do something about the katana.
The way it protrudes from the scabbard looks more like sexual innuendo than anything else. On top of that the katana's hilt is way too short. It should be something like three times as long. (Yes, I know that this comment did little to alleviate the problem with sexual innuendo.)

Every member of the team can choose the respec as a reward for completing the trial.
And concerning the idea of a weekly respec I think that it is a good idea but one without much hope of lasting for long. Spending 30 minutes every now and then for a SG member that needs a respec is one thing, but participating in a weekly scheduled respec PUG that can take as long as three hours to get the thing done is a different story.
That said, I gladly help if someone asks for my assistance in the respec trial as long as I have enough time to make it to the end. -
Siphon Speed does stack with Superspeed. Superspeed with one run speed SO (or IO) is not too far away from the cap and a single application of Siphon Speed on top of that will easily get you there. But if you use Siphon Speed every time it is up (with three recharge SOs) speed cap will feel like "normal", so Superspeed at the speed cap might be nothing to be too excited about... although my kinetic archer is a superspeeder and he loves running in circles around whole city zones just for the fun of it.

For my dominator I had to compare her tier 9 Psychic Shockwave and Ball Lightning. I could not help but notice that Ball Lightning had a smaller radius, more than three times the recharge time and ca. 20% less damage per target hit for almost double the endurance consumption per use.
Really hard to decide... -
Wo gibt´s denn sowas? Kindermörder! -

The "tank" can survive longer while taking damage than the other characters. Ultimately, the tank needs to be able to occupy the agressor without dying. The method employed, whether avoidance or absorption, does not matter, as long as the tank can mitigate damage in some way.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also, as long as you can take damage from 17 foes, any extra survivability is pretty meaningless.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, with fast 'aggro juggling' and using tricks like Ice Patch you can even manage some more without much fear of retaliation for the rest of the team, but that is something granite tankers are not exactly better at than other tankers.
But your emphasis is straight to the point: over-survivability is as useless as overdamage and overhealing, especially if you sacrifice other factors in order to achieve it. And granite is over-survivability in most cases, sacrificing recharge and damage at least.
So, regarding the OP's topic I would definitely not spec for perma-granite. -
<blockquote><font class="small">Antwort auf:<hr />
But turning the story around, i can tank 10 times more then a non-granite can.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is a strangely common misconception about granite tankers. What exactly makes people believe that a granite tanker can actually tank that much (or that a non-granite can tank only that little) is beyond me.
Fact is that a granite tanker can survive more punishment than a non-granite tanker without outside assistance (although not even close to 10 times more), but I guess we all know that surviving is not tanking. So, in teams with insufficient support the granite may actually be better at tanking just because the non-granite does not survive as long, but with support appropriate for team size and mission difficulty both will be equally survivable and the non granite will be more efficient (for tanking and dps). -
Dawn is probably talking about Lightning Storm which accepts ranged AoE damage sets iirc. None of your powers is considered a pet. Storm has multiple pseudo-pets, but not a single one of them is a "real" pet and therefore pet damage sets are no option.

Oh, yes, the ED-thing is really bad. Always remember: Never slot a power with more than three SOs of a kind.
Basically I agree with Maelwys. Just a few additions:
+ Please, don't 3-slot Stealth powers for defense. The defense bonus is negligible even for a bubbler and on top of that invisibility would only help you in PvP (for a nice gimmick effect) and do little good in PvE since the robots will eventually be quite adept at annihilating enemy spawns and you definitely don´t want to stealth missions. Being able to defeat "normal" mobs in minimum time is one of the biggest strengths of the MM.
+ Because of robots' already mentioned knack for total annihilation Detention Field will probably be more of a self-debuff than anything else. In most cases your robots will have defeated the whole spawn within 15 seconds. So, all this power does is that you have to wait longer, because your pets can't harm a detentioned mob.
Depending on your team this power has some use when you are facing an AV in a troublesome spawn or even multiple AVs (which will not happen before the 40ies), but chances are that it will annoy your teammates roughly as often as it may actually help in these situations. So, if you want this power make sure you only use it in appropriate situations.
+ As Maelwys hinted, Leadership is almost a must for a MM. Why did I say "almost"? It is. You will profit from Assault+Tactics, especially since your secondary powerset offers no debuffs and only defensive buffs. -

Well, I think I might have some points to add:
- Use the environment. For example, if you have to run break line of sight and wait behind a corner of some sort. In time you will learn how much space is needed so that you are re-hidden (and ready to crit with your strongest attack) before the enemies arrive at your position. This "Stalkiting" can turn the tide of a difficult battle.
- Beware of spread spawns. Some sets offer methods to control enemies via stun/knockback/fear. However, this can only be done when the enemies in question are within range and not shooting from a distance. Again, use the environment.
- Auto-aggroing spawns can be your undoing. But the fact that they know where you are and will shoot at sight doesn´t mean you can't choose the place to fight (and get a crit in). Yet again, use the environment.
- When you are in a team and you have to withdraw from a fight to re-hide don't "use the opportunity" to click on a nearby glowie. This is bad use of the environment.
- When you scout ahead of your team be sure to get your priorities straight. Being able to click glowies before anyone else had the opportunity to even see them might be good for you, but the team might be more thankful if you just had told them about the triple-spawn with bosses round that corner.
- One more thing about scouting and priorites: Being able able to scout is not the same as being forced to scout no matter what. It's pretty pointless to uncover the whole map and point out the location of the named boss when the mission is "kill all" or the team minus you is fighting against countless mobs while you are having your little-sightseeing. Besides, uncovering the map doesn´t exactly make "kill all"-missions easier as the team might lose track of which areas have been cleared already.
- Don't try if you can AS an AV/Hero while half the team is afk. Just don't.
Don't laugh. I have witnessed one stalker doing precisely that once. He had to reach level 47 or something like that to finally learn that this is not a smart move. Valkyrie was not amused. Neiter were the afk players when they returned to see their slain toons and learned the reason for it.
Now you may laugh. -
Tsk!

Ok, Tough and Aid Self aren't a requirement, but they do make life more survivable.
[/ QUOTE ]
That´s highly debatable. In order to get Tough and Aid Self you skip four powers that are probably less situational, not to forget the slot commitment for both powers.
So, I would argue that survivability itself is mostly unaffected at best, but the way in which it is achieved is changed to something more "conservative" (armour and heals). If you prefer a tank-like playstyle Aid Self and Tough may be the right choice for you, if not you will likely be disappointed by the result. -
<blockquote><font class="small">Antwort auf:<hr />
ok iv come to realise a controller cant exactly resist an AS, but what about normal *i say normal but they still superpowered* attacks from other ATs? Would the difference in those attacks be noticeable?
[/ QUOTE ]
No.
Just to recapitulate: SI, Weave and Hover all offer defense with only Weave having more than miniscule amounts of it. Even when stacked and slotted to the max they won´t dent a PvPer´s accuracy.
Tough has some resistance to Smashing and Lethal damage, but there are by far harder shells to crack out there and many of the more dangerous attacks won´t be mainly smashing/lethal anyway.
In short: PvPers will hit you. Hard. Don´t try tanking with your troller. Harrass them. It achieves almost the same effect but with less risk to yourself and more fun hands down. -

Enjoy your Flytrap. It´s really useful and it makes teammates freak out... regularly.

Tough? Aid Self? *cough*
Well, I have some (actually a lot of) experience with the mentioned powersets. In 50 levels of playing my electric brute the thought that I might need something like Tough or Aid Self never crossed my mind. The only thing that makes me feel squishy is toxic damage and we all know how much help Tough is with that. And Aid Self... Let's say that it is less of a committment to just invite a friend´s corruptor when I think I take too much damage. I wouldn´t even know which powers to skip to get Aid Self, let alone Tough. And I highly doubt that an invul brute can bathe in masses of Mu or PPD-Peacebringers like this electric brute. It's very satisfying to see an Inascendent Strike do less damage to you than one tic of your Lightning Field does to them. True, an electric brute is not my first choice for PvP (but that's where my sonic/kin shines so I'm fine) but in PvE elec/elec can be a fury-driven machine although it requires a little bit more skill to play effectively than the average run-and-smash-brute. -
Or, like my old grandmother always said: "The best defense is a good offense."
If you really need defense you have already made the first mistake: You left enemies alive/unarrested.
