Pretty sure he is looking for an AE#... Agree about the double postage though.

Quote:Dark/Dark - Tanker - Not really that unique, and has tons of synergy.
These are to name only a few. However Ill list off some builds that have been kicked from a team by the leader because of ignorance or Biast. Also id like to point out its not as often as it may have seemed when I first made this post, but it does happen some times. These kicks come before im even seen in action on these builds, and many times come with a /tell in the form of a insult, or someone simply not needing or wanting my type of build for there team.
The list of builds that was dissmissed before I was allowed to enter the mission, or was kicked the moment I entered a mission just by looking at my apperant powers are.
Fire/Fire - Tanker
Storm/Elec - Defender
Rad/Ice - Blaster
Earth/Sonic - Controller
Sonic/Sonic - Defender
FF/Archery - Defender
Storm/Elec - Defender - Kinda begs to be rolled... and has tons of synergy.
Cold/Ice - Defender - Not unique at all... and has tons of synergy.
Rad/Ice - Blaster - Again, decent synergy.
Earth/Earth - Dominator - ...Seriously?
Ice/Sonic - Controller. - Great control, plus sonics -resists give ice a decent boost in damage...
Traps/Rad - Defender - ...Traps anything is uber.
Spines/Invln - Scrapper - Spines invuln was the original aoe scrapper. There were more invulns than regens back in the day. Nice ting about this combo, was that is was the only seconday that had a taunt component for scrappers, which made bunching up the mobs for a spine burst way easy. Not Unique, not off the wall, not gimpy.
Fire/Fire - Tanker - Heh, if you had said this in I1, or 2, I would tell you that I share your pain, however, then followed the fire tank golden age. The same people that wouldnt invite me to a team, were bugging me for pl's... ah karma.
Storm/Elec - Defender - Peeps dont like KB. They also feel very strongly about it. Talk to a nrg/nrg blaster.
Rad/Ice - Blaster - Again... Any blaster on the team is going to contribute. Just dont bite off more than you can chew... Then bring them back to the team... Screaming for heals... ah blasters... (to be fair, same can be said of scrappers)
Earth/Sonic - Controller - Best control in the game? Great! Extra resistance? Sure!
Sonic/Sonic - Defender - Extra resistance? Sure! Hit harder the more you shoot? Okay! One thing... Sonic has a bad rep mostly because it gives some folks a headache...
FF/Archery - Defender - Who the hell needs more defence anyway... oh, right, seeing as everyone and their dog slots to cap defence, maybe everyone...
There are very few powerset combinations that will not work. Course, most peeps on the boards already know this. I didn't learn how much a Darkity Dark Defender helps the team while teaming with them... Hell most anchors are the first to be targeted in teams anyway (my theory, they look different...) I learned here on the boards. Peeps here show a willingness to learn about the game, then teach people about it. You are ******** to the wrong crowd bub. -
Quote:Bub, If you can keep 15 different lvl 50 toon builds in your head, and know what you want to respec into, more power to you. Also, I know you dont use them, however, try to understand that more than a few people use IO's. Then try to understand that with IO's you can Min/Max in whatever way you want, there is no longer a cookie cutter build that people can agree upon any more. Now, what I want to know is why people stick to Mids, and why they only stick to Flavor builds that 1 Min/Max suggjests to another?
Quote:I get flak from other players and booted from teams before missions begin, as well as have minor to cases of extreem biast when I play something that they dont commonly see when it comes to builds.Lets not forget a snarky player that belive your combonation is horrible and lets you know they feel that way.Reguardless if the combo is good or not.
Quote:I know alot of you on these boards claim you dont have this issue when you play with other people.Odds are, your playing what they play or whats common.I however dont.
Quote:I know this subject acctually angers people, and everyone wants to belive they are individuals, but im still not understanding how thats a possiblity when almost everyone plays mostly the common builds that everyone else does?
When I see 20 Blasters ranging from level 1 to 50 under Atlas. With common or identical combos and looking like a Mercinary re-hash, or Hit Man likeness. All with the Dual Pistols Primary, and 1 of 2 Common Secondaries like Energy Melee or Mental Manipulation. It makes me ask why.
I see more then I care to count in Fire/Kin controllers. We dont even have to get into that one.Its self exsplanitary already.
Most the Scrappers and Tankers I see anymore are basically Willpower or Shield Defense with either Super Strength, Mace, or Fire Melee when it comes to the Tankers, and Elec Melee and Fire Melee mostly for Scrappers as common now days.
I see on forums where people say things along the lines of "Worthless joke build." and its oddly a very nice combonation.Like Ice/Sonic on a Controller, and Storm/Elec on a Defender. These builds arnt jokes, nore are they bad.I have these builds and they are awesome.
Why do people push more then half the power sets in the game back so feircely when they are alot better then they belive them to be?
Is it a fear of the unknown?
Im curious.
Maybe you should worry more about what you are doing, and less on how people want to play with their $15. Or offer to pay their sub fee. -
If you like street sweeping, head to boomtown. Lots of big spawns of Council, and Lost to sink your teeth into.

My secondary acct buff/buff toon? Not so much. My primary acct toon? Way, way op'ed.
-
Foot Stomp w/New Animation - As much as I love the screen shaking ommph of stone melee, no power has as much raw smash.
-
If you really need a heal, you could always use aid self from pools. Traps does get triage beacon which is a +regen pbaoe, although honestly, I very rarely pull it out, only if I'm nailing an eb/av/gm etc... Stay in body guard mode. Pair that with your force field gen, and your 1 bub from your protector bot and you will find you are really, really tough... Try to keep the attention on you, and you wont need to re-summon very often.
-
I like the way you think. It could be a cariacture of the ultimate pug team mate. its not griefing, its rping.
-
Quote:Controller is a good idea. I already have a Ice and an Earth and am not keen on playing them through again.I would think an uber controlling toon would be fun as PUG only - some ice or earth controller who would need to use all their myriad AoE abilities to keep a team alive.
Havent done Plant... Storm is fun as heck... but I am lvling one up atm.
Quote:Redside, roll a Crab. Mez prot, some popular team buffs, sturdy and because you can build it however you like. St, aoe or even melee focused, or a generalist.
Quote:I would say a /kin or /rad or /pain with team support powers ie;recall friend,leadership,maybe medicine.
Quote:I think healers are overrated/not fun to play. And everyone loves a SB vending machine, so /kin is there IFF the leader knows what their recruiting. No one ever notices AM.
That being said, Plant/Rad Sounds like fun. Radiation Leek is born!
Thanks everyone!

Howdy folks. I ask you, the masses, what would be a great AT and build for a PUG only toon and why. Tons of knockback to grate on peeps? More of a support roll? Hope for fallout fodder? What do you folks think?
Perhaps I should clarify. I solo for the most part. Actually, exclusivly. Reason being, all of the people in my friends list have dissapeared over time. As such, I roll toons that are very capable and self reliant. Now, go figure, I kinda itch to get back into teaming a bit, and quick PUGs look like the best route for my time constraints.
Now I realize that all toons are fun and do extremely well in teams. Of course, the better quality of the team, the better you will do. What I am looking for is a toon that doesn't necesarliy have to do it all on its own, that can add alot of fun, but doesnt have to watch over everyone else like a hawk to make sure they are still okay. Not really into the buff bot thing. Also not too interested in a team leading tank or anything. I love tanks, but aggro managment is not for me.
Thanks,

Quote:sar·casm (sär'kăz'əm)I find it funny you don't understand sarcasm. Who's losing sleep? Me shaking my head at wall street bankers or people who don't know how to make money actually playing the game so they are forced to spend time farting around at WWs.

This isnt sarcasm. This is paranoia. You made yourself the butt of contempt and ridicule. "Dont let the make believe man keep you down!" However, is sarcasm. -
When you are paying 30+ million in fee's to post items... At least you are getting something for that 200,000 infamy. Like the chance to post something that has 30+ million in fee's...

Open your mission tab once everyone has joined the team, then hit the select task button.

Quote:O2 boost is quite handy with the bots, considering you have to take it, and it recharges way faster than repair.Yes, Serum DOES need to be fixed; it is worse than Repair. It's a typical godmode, most melee classes get one. But, pets are a different story and need serum to be carefully tailored to their needs. But, at least, it is unique and by unique I mean that it cannot be found in any MM secondaries/Pools/PPP (ok maybe Painbringer comes close). However, a number of MM secondaries get some form of heal (5/8 - ok 3/8: Alkaloid and O2 Boost suck). There is also a whole pool dedicated to the "pristine art of healing".
I partly changed my mind about Repair's usefulness after hearing other people's responses, but I have not a tiny little bit changed my mind about serious limitation such as ridiculously long recharge, looong activation time, and a highish endurance cost.
Also, sometimes it is nice to have a skipable power in a powerset. Some builds are way too tight for the amount of awesome I want to fit in. -
Quote:Of course not, I loved the story line in this game, still do. If I had, yes I imagine I would still be here. Elves do not interest me. Probably a question better posed to the numerous folks who started the game during the Winter Lord fiasco though.Ok, let me ask you this. Six years ago, when you were a new player, did you blow through the content then? Would you still be here 6 years later if you had?
Quote:They have to do what make sense financially for the game. Sadly this means stepping on the toes of some loyal players. But then, if the game doesn't survive, there won't be a game to be loyal to anyway.
Shutting exploits down doesnt effect the power gamers at all. They move on to the next path of least resistance.
What bothers me is when people blame pling for a lack of teams, then a lack of quality teams, etc. These are the same people who complained about door sitting a few years back. Heres an option... Dont sit at the door... Make your own teams... If you are going to pug it, accept the fact that you may need to play a teacher role... instead of complaining about bad players, why not take the time to educate them? As soon as you depend on other people for the enjoyment of your game, you open yourself to these kinds of disapointments. -
Quote:You cant be serious. If anyone is losing sleep over make believe money, in a make believe game, they need to step away from the monitor. You sound like a thief wallstreet banker. That's right keep justifying what you're doing - It will help you get to sleep at night.
Dont let the make believe man keep you down! -
Quote:I have been playing this game for 6 years now. I like to blow through the content, because quite frankly, I've done it once or twice. Dont get me wrong, I like to re read books and such. but not the same one every two weeks. Divide two weeks by six years...True, but if that's your play style, then you're going to get tired of the game within a few months, after you've achieved every conceivable award. From a business perspective, it's smarter for the COH team to ignore you and focus in on the long term players who are likely to stay with them for a year or more.
Your money is still green, but if in the process of appeasing you, they alienate any of their base, then they are certainly not coming out ahead.
From a business perspective, thats $2304 for 6 years with 2 accounts. Not to mention boosters expantialones (COV, back when you had to buy it seperately) Going Rogue, the 2 new computers I have purchased to play this game that I love, and am perfectly content to play another 6 years. I know dudes that have 6 accounts. I dont know, Is it really that smart of the coh team to ignore that kind of loyalty? Remind me not to invest in anything you run.
Dont worry about me messing up your teams though. I tend to solo.
Also, one thing I have noticed in my time here. The devs dont really mind alienating the playerbase. -
I often am inspired by reading through the player guides, or from some neat little trick I hear(read) a toon can do here on the boards.
I also like to think about what I want to accomplish with a new toon. If I have say, an AOE specialist, perhaps I would try to build a ST specialist. I also roll toons if I dont understand what, or how powersets work together, but want to learn more. Take knockback for instance. I hate it, most of my toons cant stand it. Then I rolled a Bots/Storm... wow. -
Quote:Dont forget to up the fee's during superbo.... er, double xp weekend! While Im not elitist about it...the point is to try and burn some of the excess inf out there. The scope of inf generation across the game is staggering to think about....Your numbers make a microscopic dent. We're not trying to get the casual people to spend money in this case...we're trying to get the hardcore to blow their wad.
It needs to be something that multiple people can buy for an obscene amount that would delete that moola from the economy with no actual game playing benefit. The idea is to make a resource to help the "social market" (socialpvp coined here) be an inf sink like no other.... Because the inf sinks we have now are not enough.
I think a billion a week or something along that line is acceptable. -

I'll trade you a character slot for 3 costume slots and 51 tailor tokens. Off one toon. I must have about 500 of the stupid things.
