Quote:It probably would have had a better chance or working had they left out travel powers. Of course, can you imagine running to a freaking mish in IP without travel powers? One of the things that kept me out of wow was the whole mount thing. All well and good, but canon & lore aside, this is still a money-making software enterprise, and the way the game makes money is people buying and renewing subscriptions, i.e. spending time in the game. The more time spent in-game, the more money the game makes.
So, as I said, canon & lore may have something to do with it, but giving players another mandatory time-sink by forcing them to travel from one station to the other as part of the "commute" also makes sense in a real-world kinda way.
The learning process for them developing the game started after it was released. Hence the purple patch... and regen, lol... and ed... and gdn
Releasing this game was like giving a 2 year old a dinky car, sure he might roll it on the ground, but he is just as likely to stick it in his mouth. The problem is how the devs reacted when we didnt do what they expected us to do... -
Quite a few people use Umbral.

Quote:You know, TopDoc once stated a truism. You are only entitled to the purples that you earn, any more than that, and you need to purchase them from other players. Other players can be unreasonable.Or maybe cap the prices of purples to like 25 mill so people could get them there are so many things they could do at this point to make it easier.
If you want more purples, start defeating mobs. It is only about 3k+ mobs per purp on average. -
Not positive about this, but may be related.
The original devs imagined that big teams would be running around doing missions, then, on the way to the next mission, all street sweep together to the next mission.
They didnt foresee that teams would just ignore missions(and story, content) altogether, and just street sweep, so they ended up incorporating mission bonus xp to move folks into missions(Thus having the playerbase ignore other created content such as hazard zones...).
So, if I had to guess, they probably imagined that people would street sweep between the tram lines... -
If I remember correctly, most hostels have cheap/free internets... can bring a usb key... and since you can't throw a wombat without hitting one...

Go wireless and wardrive... less you are in coober pedy...

You know you are able to slot enhancements into your power selections right? SO's are great, dont want to introduce you to the evils of the market...

Quote:It is one item per email in beta atm.have we gotten confirmation that they'll let us email items as well as inf?
Even if so, it doesn't necessarily mean carte blanche.
You can mail yourself stuff in WoW, but it costs inf and it has an expiration date- pick it up within 30 days (I think, it's been a while) or it goes bye bye. So you can 'renew' it, but it costs and the amount is not trivial.
If the devs want us to be able to mail items without opening the door to unlimited hoarding there are various approaches they could take, that's just one of them. -
What would you do to other perfectly fine powers?
SS is not op'd. The crash is the balance. It isnt like it is say... EM two years ago, where you couldnt toss a hellion without hitting an EM tanker... -
Quote:Start off small. The AE ticket bronzes are a good way to start a bankroll. Once you have a few million to play with, up the ante a bit and craft the more expensive recipe's. You will get to the point that you can craft a stack of the expensive recipe's. Then two stacks... etc. Just remember that the more you flood a market with a particular IO, the cheaper you make that IO. So instead of flooding, dribble...Really? How? I guess I just don't get the market thing. I've honestly been trying the last month. I've been in this forum reading everything I can. Most of the tutorials are old. I have 3 50's blue side. I've tried the "just play the game and sell everything" method. I've tried crafting and selling, I've tried a few other things listed on tuturials. That didn't get me 3 Billion. Heck the most I have on any of my 50's is (was... I started to buy some IO's) 120 Mil. I have to assume there is some basic simple thing I am missing.
I'd love to have some of the expensive IO's. And I'd love to find a way that fits my time/schedule to earn them myself. But so far I just haven't found that.
So when I see a post that says I got 3 billion in 6 weeks. It just makes me wonder.
Sometimes you will find a "niche" Enjoy it, they dont last forever. Try not to expose yourself too badly. It really sucks to have crafted a stack of something that is now worth less than what you bought the recipe's for.
Try to hold back from blowing your wad untill after you make a comfortable amount over a billion. I like to always keep at least a billion on my toon, so that if I need to, I can double it and hit the cap in a week.
I took me three months of casual marketing to hit my first billion. A week and a half later I hit the cap.
The guides are still good, not many guides will tell you exactly which IO to craft and sell or what salvage to flip, that constantly changes. The methods I use haven't. -
Quote:Suffer your build will...These "findings" you speak of...are they verifiable in any way? Damn flippers and their bad builds. If only they were smarter than that, they wouldnt need the crux of influence to make things bearable...
And time limits...I would like to meet these people that are able to buy and flip at such a rapid pace (2 seconds yeesh)....could you kindly introduce me to them so I could learn all of their secrets...thank you -
Quote:Flippers can't sell anything for more than someone is willing to pay. If you dont want to pay that much, put in a lowball bid, just like they do...ive found that most flippers are people with bad toons or bad builds...the farmers do their part by keeping what they can in stock for the market.the issue is the flippers.
if posi knew what he was doing he would place a time limit on the resale of items just obtained from the market.
that way the dorks flipping wouldnt be able to flip it every 2 seconds.sure they still would be able to flip but not as fast as they like and it would bite into the money they make.wouldnt be able to stop them just like farmers but it would slow them down
The issue is people that are willing to purchase stuff for crazy amounts.
Keep in mind that it is all relative. Take salvage for example. Someone may think that 5 mill is crazy to pay for a Pangean Soil. Take it from the perspective of someone who wants a PS to make a Hecatomb: whatever. A recipe purchased for 200m. They spend 10m crafting the thing and another 14.45m to post it for 289m. They profit 64.45m IF someone buys it for the exact same price as posted. It often will go for more than asking... 5 mill seems like a bargain eh? -
Moe: Oh, boy! The deep fryer's here. Heh heh, I got it used from
the navy. You can flash-fry a buffalo in forty seconds.
Homer: Forty seconds? But I want it now! -

Quote:The only butt here are the people who can't seem to make any money PLAYING the GAME - but if name calling suits you...Quote:You sound like a thief wallstreet banker. That's right keep justifying what you're doing - It will help you get to sleep at night.
This is an excellent guide for people just starting out in the game and need infl. or for people who are interested in trying their hand at the market, but are intimidated by it.
Shake your head all you want, hopefully you will realize that you don't pay other people's sub fee's, and as such, have no right to tell them how to play. I don't understand the whole badge collector mentality, but I wouldn't tell them how to do it. -

Quote:http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...73#post2615773Oh wow didn't know that. I sit corrected. I thought it was set to base level, not exemplared level.
Just found it funny, because you posted right after me. -
-
Quote:Seconded. In zones, you are exemplared to the same lvl, so as long as you are getting rep, and are past the 5 min window, you have a chance to drop. The drop generated is the lvl of the toon that got the drop. A lvl 38 toon can get a lvl 38 IO off a lvl 50 toon. A lvl 50 toon will get a lvl 50 IO off a lvl 38 toon. That is completely erroneous. I've gotten numerous PVP IO drops from killing a certain level 41 regen over and over and over and over and over and over³³³³. Character that is killing it is level 50.
Arena... why bother?
Also, I seem to be in the 70 - 100 valid rep kill drop range so every 5.5 hours or so. depending on how the rdg is feeling. Keep in mind, not every drop is a proc...
Oh, and Hi Ra... Long time no see. -
Quote:No thanks. I think its better to leave the options there, no matter how much it seems as though the devs like to make their own content obsolete. Mission bonus xp bummed me out.Now Personally, I would love to see zones shut down. Give old school vets props for getting them exploration badges, before the zones where shut down.
Hell, I even say shut down skyway, if it didnt lead you to Faultine & a PvP Zone.
JJ
As a side note, I think it might be a good idea for the devs to encourage more out of mission content like street sweeping. I am noticing alot of new/trial players complaining how dead the servers seem to be. just be nice to see huge groups running around again.
Back to your point, even though you can set your mish's for a bigger challenge, the hazard zone spawns clump ever so nicely.
From 7-12, I street sweep Perez for Hellions and Skulls.
12 - 20, Boomtown, chewing up Council till 15, and Lost till 19/20ish.
20-23, Zombie hunting in DA.
23-30, Sky Raider luitenant spawns, and Freaks in Tera Volta.
30-39, Freaks, then Nemisis and back to Freaks in Creys Folly. (honorable mention to RWZ, but can stay in there from 30-50)
39-50, RWZ for high lvl Council, and of course Rikti...
Fast, clumped up xp suitable for a aoe soloist... so pretty please, with sugar on top, keep the freaking hazard zones.
