I think an DA/Ice tanker would be an interesting combination. with all the hard and soft mez's, you will be able to toy with spawns. Ice is also a better damage set than people give it credit for.
My favorite has still gotta be the dust ball of death, Spines/DA. IOes can easily offset the high end cost on this build.
I think I might roll a Elec/DA brute sometime in the near future. Elec's big aoe's and the chance to gain more end back sounds like it might play nice with DA. -
Quote:My position was based on the faulty assumption that the kismet unique was +acc, like it says in the description. Not the correct +tohit that it does. I didn't think you could get +tohit from IOs. I was wrong.Sinister - I was in no way saying you had no reason or "fake" reasons for taking the power. my reply to your previous post simply indicated that I wasn't following your comments. I couldn't tell if you were saying, for the way you played, that you stacked FA with things like the Kismet unique because you liked PvP or fighting +6 mobs in PvE. or whether you preferred using FA instead of boosting to hit and accuracy through IOs, and why.
as someone already clarified, the Kismet IO that I mentioned in my posts provides basically the same +to hit as FA.
and yes, I am interested in whether people still take FA, actually use it other than a mule for an IO set, and why. my comment was that, so far, most comments I saw mirrored my own experiences that it wasn't that much of a boost for fighting things under +4 or pvp. in no way was I trying to say that those things weren't important to other people, I think it's great that there are so many different ways to play this game. -
Quote:Yeah... That change stopped my hazard zone spawn hunting... till then, hazard zones or padding was the only way I could get enough mobs in a spawn to fuel my sick need.if I want to streetsweep without interruption, I can set to x8 and run To Save A Thousand Worlds. :P
Quote:XP on outdoor mobs was explicitly reduced quite some time ago (along with halved debt inside missions) in order to encourage instanced content.
Portal Corp instanced mission lvl 50 Behemoth Overlord Luit. 12,227 infl.
Sorry, I dont have any lvl 49's to readily compare a mish to street mob, I'm assuming the xp rate would be the same as infl.
They didn't reduce the street mob xp, they increased the mission bonus xp, and reduced the debt at a time when debt actually meant something.
Quote:Don't think I've ever been on a team that sweeped. Unless you count taking out the surrounding mobs while waiting by the door as sweeping.
Quote:One of the other things the OP is missing, though, isn't just that there are instanced missions, but that we have so many different ways of *getting* there. Travel powers? Sure. But we also have zone teleporters (making trams no longer be a "social hub,) mission teleporters, pocket D teleporters, Pocket D itself and so forth. It's very easy to just not "be there" for the intervening space for you to BE seen. -
In the end, reading the story gives you no extra xp. Does a long, drawn out story with weak mobs provide more risk than a single very intense mission? I thought it was risk/reward, not time/reward.

A single small purple inspiration instantly softcaps a toon that is sitting at 35% smashing lethal. They are pretty hard to find on farming maps.
Here you go. Say thanks to Smurphy.

This would be better suited in the suggestions and idea's area.
Now that that is out of the way, I can see you have put alot of thought into this. I would recommend making sure that suggested powersets are suitable for both factions. With GR on the horizon, and side switching... Defenders may want to defeat enemies with the black plague as well. I would imagine Disease would give Rad a run for its money in debuffs... -
Yes to accuracy. However, you can't get +tohit from any IO bonus as far as I know. I may be wrong, but I just went cross eyed trying to speed read set bonuses on wiki.
Quote:unless you are hunting +4s or do a lot of pvp, I don't see the need for both.
Quote:I try to find a home for a kismet on most builds and generally get at least 40 - 50% +accuracy from IO sets without even really focusing on accuracy bonuses.
Quote:so far, most of the comments mirror my thoughts. the only real reason to pick FA is as a pre-req, instead of conserve power, to get to physical perfection, which I still want to take on many characters
In the end, it is a situational power pick for me. My DM/Regen scrapper loves it. My Spines/Fire... not so much. -
Hello,
In the last little while I have posted in a few threads talking about how it was in the old days. While I realize the old days are well and truly over (Bye States! See you never!), there where some things I miss alot. One of them is street sweeping.
COX is my first, and only MMO. I dont have the words to convey my amazement upon logging in for the first time. There were heroes everywhere, flying, jumping, speeding about, showing off their new powers. Joining a pick up group in Perez Park, and fighting our way to Everett lake. It was great. It is something I fear new players coming to the game don't get to experience.
The reason I am posting this is because I think new players should experience it. To a degree at least. Sure, you won't have 50 players in a zone all saying "Look at this!" ever again. I get that. However, It would be nice if new players can see how many people are actually playing the game. Too many posts have been made by players wondering where everyone else is. Too many players first impressions are that this game has only a few people on even in the busiest of times.
Now of course, they are cordially guided in how the team search works, and it is explained that most players are in instances and what not... and that is good. I can't help but imagine they would have a better impression of the game if they didn't have to visit the boards first.
Back in the day, everyone street swept. It was designed so that teams would street sweep on the way to the next mission, task, etc. Unfortunately, the dev's didn't realise that people grind to fifty the same way water gets anywhere. The path of least resistance. So they got kinda bummed that people forwent the instanced missions. The stories they worked so hard on and wanted to tell were ignored just so people could gain xp and lvl quicker. This is my shocked face. The solution? Mission bonus xp.
Almost instantly, the streets were bereft of heroes. Hooligans were on every corner stealing purses, and casing places, and no heroes to stop them. This hasn't changed. Guess what? People were ignoring developed content again, only this time, whole zones went ignored. Unless a team is badging, you are hard pressed to find one in a hazard zone. Hell, Skyway was never as popular as Steel Canyon, but there were always at least 5 teams street sweeping it... All they did was exchange one side of ignored content, for another side. Felt kinda like Australia introducing the cane toad to control the cane beetle population, and at the same time decimating other native populations. Not to mention the bad taste it left in my mouth being "guided" to play a certain way.
I digress... The point of all this is to get people back out into the zones. Hell, They don't even have to street sweep. I do think it would make a better experience for new players though.
The zone events are a great start. Until everyone has the badges they need. Then they are promply ignored again.
I think that there needs to be a better reward for street sweeping. Something to make it worthwhile for a team to hit the streets again. I hate to say give people more xp, because lets face it, it is already terribly easy to gain xp in this game. I would say, that perhaps Patrol XP should only be rewarded if you are out on PATROL. Of course, you can't take something away that has already been given. Not without doom crying. I don't really have a fix for this, but I figure this is the best place for this. Even if I don't have idea's, perhaps some of you do.
Or maybe people dont care. Maybe it has no merit. That is for you to decide.
If you have read this far, thank you. Hope it wasn't too painfull.

Quote:Depends if 5% +tohit, 20% +acc and 69% res -tohit and 60% +perception(you could stick the +perception unique in as well for 80%) is better than a unique acc and IO bonuses to you. However, isn't it just as easy to build for recovery as it is for acc?is any one taking this power any more, after the severe reduction in its benefits?
it used to be a great power but the extremely high endurance cost balanced it out pretty well. then when physical perfection came along, I thought that you would finally be able to afford to run FA and was looking forward to adding it to more of my scrappers and brutes. until I saw how much they neutered it.
I still have it on a couple of characters though I think it may be swapped out when I get around to respecing them. even if I can afford to run it, I usually switch it on only if facing mobs with heavy accuracy debuffs. that's the one good use I still see for it.
am I missing something here? with a kismet +6% and IOs giving + accuracy, I can get numbers equal to or exceeding FA without the endurance drain and power selection. and while FA would, of course, add on top of those same to hit and accuracy numbers, it's pretty much overkill as I am usually at the 95% cap against just about anything I ever go up against.
Also, I was under the impression that +tohit was better than acc, am I mistaken in this? -
Quote:Interesting. I will do that, thanks.Toggles dropping while zoning is caused when the servers controlling the 2 shards you're zoning between have differing Server Times.
If you can, send in a petition when it happens (Note: not a /bug, a /petition so it goes to the GM's not the Devs) and note the 2 different server times in your description if possible.
/servertime will pull up the value of the shard you are in.
Most of the discrepancies I've seen are when the particular shard is set to its local time rather than GMT (standardizing to GMT was how they resolved the problems months ago). -
Quote:So in normal play, does one not do any tf's or events that were added after the market was introduced as well? Christ... often just selling 10 generic recipe's at a vendor will net you more than a million. 10. How many generic recipe's have dropped for you in the last month?I define "normal play" as running missions, story arcs, and task forces. It is my understanding and belief that the total influence rewarded by defeating foes, completing missions, and selling unwanted TOs, DOs and SOs to vendors in the process of leveling a character from 1-50 is in the mere tens of millions - an order of magnitude less than can now be earned by placing a single lucky drop on the market.
I would assume from your join date that you are well aware of this, having played the game for three years before the market was added to it. -
Also. Logged off yesterday. Logged in this am after at least 16 hours away, and recieved the "This account is already logged in" msg.
Got the same msg a few times yesterday, but this is first time after such a long time being logged out. -
Quote:At least 4 empty slots, plus 4 more if I ever choose to open them up.How many character's do you have on test at the moment?
I've seen where if you do not have any of the original slots open, then it causes problems, even if you have 'purchased' more slots.
I transfered toons successfully on friday, stripped em, and deleted them. Is it not recognizing the deletion? Cause the slots open up. -
Quote:Play nice bub.bump. still for sale. and its @malkore you brainless ******* >_>
Interesting... Cause the market doesn't care which side of the Great Divide you are on, so there is precedent of sharing info between NA and EU servers... -
Hello.
Not sure if this is a known issue or not. (I have searched.)
When I zone using the train, I need to retoggle my travel powers because they de-toggled in transit. -
Hi,
Anyone else have difficulties with the character copy tool? have tried to copy a toon to test 3 times this am, and they still havent shown up inspite of the option to copy them becoming available again.
I would like to mention, that I am copying from Justice, and succesfully copied toons over on friday. -
If I recall correctly, the stealth io refreshes itself every 120 seconds. Might have been spottied in that micro window. Or the mobs you were fighting may have +perception (drones). As for stacking, I know it stacks with superspeed, not sure about stealth, steamy mist, or thier ilk... Sorry couldn't be more help.

To be fair, before I3, fire tanks had no sleep resists, and the disorient protection was in healing flames. Lotta emps back in the day HAD to CM the tank, because they were mostly fire tanks. On farms. With disorienting rock tossing wolves. Funny how the mentality stuck though eh?

Old market UI. Was 300 mill short of the cap, and had yet to claim sales off of 3 hecatombs. I noticed a tiny button with even tinnier script on it. So tiny I couldnt read it. Figuring what could it hurt, I clicked it. Apparently it was the hit the cap instantly button, and I lost 600mill... hard lesson to not click anything you can't read...

Tell me what 31099 means, and I will tell you how to pvp io farm.

Quote:Sorry. I guess I misunderstood when you said you wanted your bots to take the hits. It is very easy to cap yours, and your bots def with storm. Someone WILL take the hits, and in bodyguard, you have the most hp.This one, I think it'll suit me better to focus on having no one take the hits instead of taking the hits.
You also can get decent resists with this build, and they are applied before bodyguard, which makes you even tougher.
