Quote:By culling the broadcasts in certain zones about ambush farms. That dies down for awhile, and the people that like to see farmers get punished let out a big sigh or relief because it seems like the devs have heard their plea making them feel important. How does reducing the XP of ambushes and the removal of certain critters make things better?
The farmers move on to something else, and there is peace and quiet for some time until the next farm du jour reaches critical mass and the non farmers plead with the devs again.
Its good for the farmers, because they need to stay on their toes and learn new ways to optimize xp gain.
The removal of certain critters is good for both sides. It is good for the farmers who need to learn how to do it without being both softcapped, and resistance hardcapped with 10 bubbles on them. Easy mode teaches no one anything.
Its good for the story writers because the need to write in and enable the player of your story complete invincibility without even having to click an inspiration is bad writing. Just look at the alpha slot arc. Sure it is fun to be that powerfull once, but it is actually very boring to run it much more than that. -
Ill/Cold if you want to focus on mainly hard target. Can do +4/8, but I doubt by anyones definition of quickly
SS/Fire Brute if large spawns are more important for you. Hard targets will take a little more time.
Fire/Traps Corr is almost middle of the road between them imo. -
Quote:Logic dictates that the evolution of the game that has occurred has actually made the game better. The exploiters ensure that the devs cull the easy paths to xp and therefore make the game more interesting and challenging. While you as a writer are seemingly interested in giving your fans easy xp by bursting Hamidon spores and having npc's heal them for a capped amount of rewards. I as a farmer am more interested in defeating gobs of extreme set mobs with the rewards determined only by how many mobs I have the ability to defeat.Logic dictates that if farmers (and by extension, exploiters) didn't use AE, then the nerfs (most of them, at least) would have never happened. Logic further dictates that if farmers are somehow eventually forced to vacate AE, no more nerfs will be necessary. No more broken arcs, no more having to re-adjust everything between major updates, no more worrying that an arc will get down-voted for not giving enough XP... heck, maybe we can get some old toys back like hami mitos and Cimmy Healers. That's a win in my book.
I have been told that the system already delivers both of these types of reward systems. Conveniently, all you have to do is make your custom mobs with just a single power from your secondary to curb the rewards your mobs give. The devs have already given you what you ask for. -
Quote:I guess I miss-read the op when he said he wanted strong aoe scrapper sets for farming. The only viable farmer from those secondaries is SD. The others on a scrapper will just cause all of the enemies to scatter. All of them are excellent on Brutes however.
No doubt that the aggro shields are great for keeping the mobs together, but really, I have never been left feeling that my spines/fire scrapper is crap for farming. Maybe not optimal, but never left in the dust either. Also, if you are sitting at +2's the spawn won't have a chance to scatter. +4's are a different story. -
Spines, elec, claws/fire, dark, elec
Fire, elec/sd
Pick whatever flavor appeals best to you. Sd is nice to keep the mobs close for your aoe's. -
Quote:I am sorry you feel that way. I think even the AE authors will agree with me when I say I find it hard to believe that the Devs listen to anything the AE authors say. If there is any blame to be had, its CEBR, and even then, CEBR was just playing a role that has been played many, many times.I blame the AE authors for the ambush nerf, so playing their stories and rewarding them with five stars makes me ill.
As soon as a single repeatable reward starts being so popular that a dev decided critical mass is cashing in on it, it gets adjusted. Not nerfed. Adjusted. This is in no way blaming TopDoc, this is just the circle of farming life.
And dont worry about it too much, You will still be able to cap tickets on a mish ridiculously fast, so you can still have your Orange salvage. -
I am sick and tired of people getting more badges than me. They should limit the ability to get more than one badge a day. Other people getting badges faster than me hampers the way I like(others) to play.

My Fire/Traps Corr. Scourge+Mez protection+Fire.

AV's resist that debuff by 87%. Moar damage.
-
I haven't had tons of time to ponder, but i would probably go with a bots/ff mm
No need to invest heavily in either the primary or secondary to be pretty effective at what it does leaving you to dip in power pools to your heart's content. -
Bots/Storm.
I like my bots/traps, but it is kind of boring. Storm can be a pretty busy set for positioning as such, so I dont feel like I am just dropping a trap and then watching the bots chip away. Pumps out a crazy amount of damage if you can lock the spawns in a corner. -
Quote:Most likely both as I know he plays on Virtue.I was there when one of the Virtue server global channels discovered Titan Weapons were on the market. We were talking about it and then someone reported they couldn't find it and sure enough it was gone... then a minute later Zwillinger pops on and tells us he had been playing on his private account and saw us talking about it, so he logged onto his dev account and fixed it.
So just remember that:
(A) The devs are everywhere. In fact, there's one right behind you!!!
and
(B) Zwillinger plays on Virtue! Or at least he listens to out chat channels. Wait... it could be just a case of (A).

This is my first and only MMO. I doubt I will play another one once this one goes dark. My sub has lapsed a few times, mostly because I have grown up over the past 7 years. Marriage and a couple kids change things. The game has always grown with me, and had me hooked ever since I logged on the first time and saw players flying, superspeeding, and jumping all over atlas.
That and elf ears are ridiculous.
And grats Clouded. Being a Dad is the coolest freaking thing I have ever had the pleasure of participating in. Sleep now while you can. -
Quote:As a father, I approve of this joke. And I thought this thread was going to be full of the type of jokes my dad used to tell, such as:
Q: How many ears does Captain Kirk have?
A: Three. A left ear, a right ear and a final front ear.
Oh well.
A few:
There are 10 kinds of people, those who understand binary and those who don't.
To get to the other side!
Why did the tachyon cross the road?
There's no place like 127.0.0.1 -
Bots/Traps mm can manage just about anything on SO's only.
If looking for a corr, Fire/traps, rad, or dark might be what you are looking for.
Ill/colds turn hard targets into ground meat. -
Quote:I don't think you understand how kiting works.I guess i don't know you could run up pop build+aim nuke and be gone before the boom - oh wait, just like with speed boost.
Most people who play blasters can tell you sometimes kiting doesn't work and you eat the alpha and die. All while you are 100 yards away and the attacks follow you.
What AT was kiting - blasters mostly and what AT dies more than any other AT................ -

Quote:Fire/fire blaster build up+Aim fireball in boomtown. All minions in the spawn were toast, and they were gone before a luit/boss could react. Move on to next spawn. Why spend the 150 infl on purple insps if you dont need to.This one absolutely cracks me up. So slowly pecking away at PvE enemies by kiting was exploitive?
LMAO.
Instead you could pop 3 purples and trash the entire group in 10 seconds while the one guy was kiting for 60? They can spin it how they want but stacking multiple inspirations of the same type is FAR more exploitive than kiting ever was.
Keep in mind as well, this is boomtown, no stores handy, no combining, no emailing them to yourself. Different game back then. -
Quote:You are wrong on the details. It didn't activate instantly, and it was great in pve to activate it and click all the blinkies in a mission, completing the mish with zero(absolutely zero, not, surounded by 100 angry mobs and if you don't time your heal/inspiration properly you are dead zero) risk, and full rewards. Of course it was changed so you couldn't click while phased before the 30 second duration was added, however, there have been several changes to the power, and not all of them were pvp related.Used to be that Phase Shift was a great "panic button" - it activated instantly and you could stay as phased as long as you liked/needed to. Nobody seemed to care when this was only against PvE, but I'm sure you can see the problems for being able to escape PvP ambushes at the click of a button and remain untouchable indefinitely, even if it is the final power in a pool.
(I may be wrong on some of the details - I never actually got to use it, but was planning to take it on my notional pistol scrapper, back when he was going to RP Invuln as Intangibility. This is the same guy who finally got into the game as a Dual Pistols/Dark Defender.)
Also, as said above, how many times do you need a 30 second break mid combat? It still works just fine. One mans utterly useless is anothers breathing room he needs to get back into the fight.
