  2. Blaster got too many sets already, give the 'less chosen' ones a few extra sets first (tanker, scrapper).

    Worse as in like a quite bunch of millions to get them? Added to that its lvl50 based, how would it be at 32 with those IO's?

    (actualy nice idea to start looking for your setup, seems very interesting - although scirroc %dmg already goes for a bunch of millions)

    Simple reason, price. For just 4 days they have alot of players 1 specific server, after that it becames balanced again.

    Even more simple, if you download day and night on Bittorrent at 200KB/s, but a certain weekend you have acces to a newserver that hits 800KB/s. Would you just upgrade your 2mbit line to 8mbit just for those 4 days and pay tripple the fee while your total download never increased (= playerbase).

    The entire backbone of Europe is far far far stronger then just a few 100 players that try to play a game. (go see stats for example of the AMX).

    Clearly, there are other good ways to slot that 3 Rech/3 Dam, and those will vary depending on what you're trying to do with the character.

    Pre-ED there was "standard" slotting for everything too. ED didn't change that - Inventions did.

    Its fun that everyone yells Invetions, but i gues nobody ever saw the prices of them. Specialy if u go with the 'famous' sets that give the good bonus, dont expect things to get cheaper then a million.

    Outside that inventions make your nova even worse, perform max is going cap ED recharge/damage, IO's cant do this (specialy not sets).

    Inferno, nova.. the same. Damage, no mezz, just plain damage as often as you can do. Every blaster hits Aim/BU before going, all you need is damage and recharge. Or i stil wanna see the first person that slots KB in Nova.

    Boost Range

    It only increase ST ranged powers, cone powers (cone+range) and targeted-AoE (the range, not the AoE). So no range increase of PBAoE's (as dreadfull is).
  8. Although i was temped, i went over and got to lvl7 before (thats like 20 minutes) i went back to my good ol' defiant. Bitty quiet, but then it happened:

    Yesterday i got into a team around 2pm (eagle claw, quick strike, seg<something>, KinSo, and 2 lovely empaths -lady .. and starysomething - and a bunch others), this team went on untill late in the evening 10pm'ish. Never seen such a rock-solid team, from mission to mission, AV after AV. Exp flushing, inf rushing and salvage brushing.

  9. Dont worry, granite do NOT have -acc
    Granite stays at -recharge (60-70%ish), -slow (60% iirc), -damage (30%) and the 3 forms to travel (sprint/jump/fly).

  11. Can be tricky though, when u run out of end you have to wait for the powers to recharge. Worse, if you exemp down to a lvl where you dont have FocAcc, as rage has nasty 10sec crash and with granite (or hasten down) its not perma.

    2: Dull Pain
    4: Combustion
    6: Fire Sword -> drop
    8: Unyielding
    10: Taunt -> either this
    12: Combat Jumping
    14: Super Jump
    16: Breath of Fire -> or this
    18: Invincibility
    20: Resist Physical Damage
    22: Buildup -> drop

    This seems imho the best to drop for the fitness pool to get in, those you get in the 20s upto 30 range.
  13. Jab is 1 power that is not really worth slotting. The damage is very low, its good for gauntlet though. Just having 1 acc (maybe add. 1 recharge) and shift the other slots to:
    1 - rooted EndRed
    1 - KO blow EndRed/recharge
    1 - Footstomp Endred/recharge
    Those 2 attacks often gonna be your main attacks and can become a bitty end heavy.

    Granite Armor i went for 2def/1EndRed, every bit of end more helps abit
  14. Well, for fire/ tankers it might be a very nice one, with the knockback protection SetBonus they can actualy take out acrobatics and safe a powerslot/bitty of endurance. But believe u need 2 or 3 sets of it at least?

    Overal the normal inventions are usefull to basicly everyone, since a lvl50 gives that bitty more % buff then a 53SO, specialy for toggles and attacks its nice to have.

    For my Granite, the +recharge sets come in handy, have Doctored Wounds (5) 5% recharge (earth embrace) and Lotg +7,5% recharge. 2nd set of DW(5) is ready to put them into Rooted. Its not that much versus 65%, but every bit helps abit But if i get a 2nd lotg-recharge, surely i will get a 2nd def power just to use it. (only have granite atm).

    Other IO sets i probably wont get soon, the price is insane high and very hard to get. Next to that, the setbonus isnt always that great to spend millions on it. Some sets like the +regen or the 9% extra acc are very nice to have and very suitable, but for the price i can slot all my attacks together with lvl50 IO's. So its kinda to early to say if it becomes more fun, my tanks just have a bitty more damage, bitty more resist, bitty less endurance usage.. kinda like having +3 SO's slotted all the time

    Serious there is no single kitten alive anymore after all the 'what is blapping, what is tanking, taunting, healing sux, theme builds' discussions. Discussions with serious no end at all, but everyone try to show that he is right.

    Oh well, as i'm typing anyway:
    From urban dictionairy:
    The "tank" can survive longer while taking damage than the other characters. Ultimately, the tank needs to be able to occupy the agressor without dying. The method employed, whether avoidance or absorption, does not matter, as long as the tank can mitigate damage in some way.

    And that i see as tanking.

    Not that bad though

    Few posts back i posted a link to my project i started long time ago, due lousy code and someone was already doing the list i kinda stopped it. I put it back, it kinda lets you add your toons yourself and submit changes of toons that changed epic or have wrong info.

    But as i still dont know what is done with the current (in the 1 post) list, my project is on a low profile. Although i add the new submited toons regulary, editing/updating is not working yet.

    It also depends where you PvP, the big zones SJ is quite usefull, small zones your idea (SS/SJ/Hurdle) gets off abit better. Going SJ however, you can get acrobatics, giving a hold resist

    I kinda use every set, SS/Fly (Powerboost fly is fun :P), SJ/hover, TP, they all have abit pro and cons. Blasters often go SJ due acrobatics. (but i asume inventions can change this).
  19. If you gonna host it yourself, its free but its far from perfect. The better quality codec you gonna use together with more people online, the more upload it takes, the more lag you have.

    There are thousends of companies out there renting out TS servers, price often vary on rights, admin, ammount of people, public/private etc.

    I have a 40 channel private server, all channels with highest codec and a very usefull admin panel for a 8GBP a month. Not the cheapest, but its a very reliable.
  20. At higher lvl you get better powers anyway, its just a low lvl issue wich get solved at higher lvl

    Its funny that keep pounding on the penalties granite has. But turning the story around, i can tank 10 times more then a non-granite can. Nongranite and perma-granite are equal, they both have pro and cons, at the end of the line they are the same. Situation based they perform better or less then the other side, its just the way you choose to go.

    From 32 i never chosen to go exemp below that lvl, so i miss all the TF's pre-32, my badgehunter is my blaster. The 5/10% accolades are nice, but not required. The -damage i easy overcome by rage, swapping between fighting out of granite makes it even perma. Solo i can even do with just rooted, like regen can without instant healing.

    CoH is still about doing it together, each tanker can use help from their team, some with healing, resist or defence, and others can use +recharge.

    So whats the biggest difference from granite and a nongranite? -recharge.. period. So the entire 'whats more efficient' is down to -recharge. Rooted you need outside granite, wich even has a higher -speed then granite. -damage is no issue, we're tankers. But nongranite most likely need more healing, still need help on -speed and higher end-usage (3 armor and rooted).

    -recharge can be overcome partly by IO sets now, the free powers can go for extra attacks (gauntlet) and even provoke pool. Taunt need a extra recharge, thats about it.

    Its a style of play, but there is no difference in efficiency.
  24. He probably has swift slotted also, this eats a chunck out of the -speed already. Ysterday i found the doctored wounds, 5 of them give another 5% recharge. So i bought the full set (35-45 recipe, 50 is too expensive) and from the numbers i gonna loose a bit of heal and recharge in earth embrace but i will get 12,5% (lotg+recharge) for all my powers

    Rooted probably can get the same set, sciroco's seems good for attacks. but the total ammount of influence needed... ouch
  25. I actualy wonder how to 'offset' all those downsides. The -speed, u need quite abit of set bonus. The -damage, seen 2/4% bonus, not really. Recharge, most cases u loose the % itself in the power, making the goal of 30% setbonus recharge not that very easy. Finaly, jump/fly you just cant get, quite simple.

    All i can do, is maximize 2SO slotted sets, 2x recharge replaced by 2x IO recharge, adds about 5-10% max. Since i only have 2 defence power, wich primairy needs resist, getting a 4-5 set will even decrease my strength.

    Cause at the end, why play with less if u can have way more?
