Difference however, snipe gives a great defiance 2.0 bonus
-
I say blazing bolt, /ice has little melee power, so i would go for defiance 2.0 friendly damage boosting
-
Thanks for the replies thus far, boosted my urge to continue this dominator alot
(Abu kept punching me over a year now to get a domi).
I call him my blastascrappatroller, with more focus on ST damage output to team up with friends who have more controllish dominators. -
I gonna start tonight on a bunch of testing, maybe i can find out more on what each power gives as buff.
-
Probably you looking at the 12,5% ranged dmg buff.
I did a 453 dmg yesterday with my AR snipe on a even lvl boss, thats some damage for a AR -
Merc/TA looses often from EB's though
Although the stad-100ft-away-a-keep-summoning-pets tactics seems to work. -
I would say either /trap, /poison or /dark. For your pets, Bots i say have best bet, Zombies can do pretty good too (great with dark, double fear).
Most builds for these are pretty straight foward. -
BFR has its casting/animation recently reduced greatly, it feels nearly as fast as Epic Munition cryo ray.
But agree, in PvP its not that viable, maybe as opener for a nice dmg boost chain it might be decent. -

Can you stack the damage buffs if you manage to fire another power within the 7.5s limitation (getting the apropriate buff for that power as well)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yep. Double "Fire Blast" buff FTW!
[/ QUOTE ]
I think ive gotten 3 buffs stacked on average on live servers so far. Pretty damn weak.

If go for a Snipe opener, burst, slug, bean bag, burst, slug, then my snipe buff icon just dissapeared. So 5 is possible, where the snipe opener is roughly 30% (based on previous formula) bonus.
With sufficient recharge and using the tier1/2 (2,67 cast after opener) you have roughly 4-5 sec for some melee buffed smashing.
Another funny one, hasten with Ignite (with 3 recharge IO) and spam cast it. Although buff is little, it makes a noticable difference. -
Oops, i forgot the engineered part.
Post from castle, was earlier in this topic:

Secondly, the formula as posted is NOT what the spreadsheets use to calculate things; it's a reverse engineering of what is being used.
[/ QUOTE ] -
Not much, it still is defiance 2.0 but now with reverse damage formula. But was a bit of misreading i gues in the formula, but it still remains to the 12,5% boost, tier 1/2 while mezzed (while slept is funny!) and the new damage boost 7.5sec thingie.
-
Never said it would change anything, more like the term 'blapper' has been abused by basicly anyone who had 2 or 3 /nrg or /elec powers. 'oh look at me, i got thrust, bonesmasher and Total facus, im blapper!'. Not to forge those 'heal me im a blapper' blasters that remain 99% of the time spamming their primairy powers from ranged.
Ending up by a great ammount of totaly unexperienced blasters that run melee to nearly everything they see, and yet still wonder why they died alot.
The real experienced 'blappers' are beyond the word blapper, they know how to fight melee. -
Asume it does, as interupt is still part of casting time (if u slot interupt enhancements, u can move but your power wont shoot yet due the continues casting time).

Yup, long casting suddenly becomes usefull

Maybe not for you, for me it does. Accept, adept and move on; works like a charm. -
Dont say you are walking nonstop in granite even in between fights?
By popping 2 IO recharge in each attack they go down a bit below their base recharge values, combined with epic set you still can have a decent attack chain. -
Hello global recharge and set recharge bonus
(outside granite i have about 10 sec downtime on Hasten).
-
I gues some day it will be added, i hope at least.
I now just keep the numbers roughly in my mind, find certain chains that do a good bonus. Since im playing at 1680/1050 resolution, its quite a good overview on all the buffs/icons anyway. -

i am having problems with this game it wont let me change the file path name "C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" // to "C:\Program Files (x86)\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.EU.exe" it says it invalid i use vista please help im loosing the will to play this game..
[/ QUOTE ]
Quick and easy would be:
Browse to your CoH folder, rightclick the cityofheroes.EU.exe file and click - create shortcut.
Copy the shortcut to your desktop, there ya go
The downloadspeed of the updater is rather remakarkable, some people seem to have such extremely low speeds while i rushing along with 700-800kb/s at the exact same moment.
I asume it still has to do with the famous p2p-port the updater uses, as many ISP seem to put throttles on these ports. As the updater is able to connect through the port, it will stick to the port.
Sadly the forced port option was removed i believe around issue8, and support isnt really giving out details wich ports the updater uses in wich sequence. -

Ok thanks very much guys i think i am sorted now. I wouldnt mind if there is anymore info on the ice power pool if thats ok
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean the epic pool of ice?
[ QUOTE ]
But....
Sonic has no long range "Snipe attack" power, like other sets, and sometimes that extra range and high damage attack can be usefull.
[/ QUOTE ]
Thats what boostrange is for -
Oops, my fault (im hanging around here for 3 years, so got used to the wordings).
Each side (primairy/secondairy) has 9 powers. Each of these is called a Tier, thus Tier 1 to 9. For blasters Tier 9 is a nuke, like Nova, Blizzard etc the final power of your set. Tier 1/2 are the first 2 selectable powers when you create your character. Fast and decent damage powers always great to have.
The Epic pool is a powerpool wich you unlock at lvl41. You can only pick 1 pool, and these all are pretty unique to their AT. Blaster can pick from several pools, each have a few nice tricks or extra support.
Electricity,
-ranged Hold
-Cone attack
-SL/nrg resist shield
-super-mini nuke with a massive drain and stun ability.
Fire,
-ranged Hold,
-SL/fire resist shield,
-droppable Knockback fireball (Bonfire)
-A Self Rez power
.
Ice,
-SL-defence shield
-targeted AoE sleep power
-debuff-toggle that debuffs target-around massive on -recharge/-slow
-Hibernate (30sec you go into a solid block of ice, immume to any attack and regen massive on endurance and HP).
Munition,
-ranged hold,
-always active SL shield
-ranged AoE sleep
-LRM Missile (AoE snipe shot).
Only good For AR, since it uses a gun.
Force,
-PFF (Personal Force Field - you create a bubble around you, cant attack but you gain massive resist and really high defence)
-a KB bubble (uses endurance each time a mob gets repeled back huge waste)
-TI (Temporary invunerbility - a SL-resist shield)
-FoN (Force of Nature - for 2 minutes you gain high resist to all except Psionic and gain a high recovery rate on endurance, loose all endurance when crash).
(SL stand for Smashing and Lethal).
When you respec your character, you can repick the epic pool, yet you can only pick 1. -
It is really strong. The great -res on primairy combined with devestating damage on your secondairies, works like a charm. /nrg and /elec are really high dmg melee range, each have a few extra tricks making it more fun. Sonic/ boost that damage even higher due each attack has -resist and the ranged stun synergise with your melee stuns.
Added, /nrg also has powerboost, wich doubles any stun/hold/sleep/drain/etc, works good with your ranged stun power of sonic.
You can basicly read up the guide section to any ice/nrg build, then replace the ice with sonic powers.
few randoms that i would recommend:
tier 1/2 (first 2 powers) of sonic
Shout, amplify, ranged stun, tier 9.
/nrg Bonesmasher, buildup, powerboost, totalfocus, optional conserve and boostrange (it doubles your range, 2 SO recharge makes it perma castable).
From Epic i would pick either force (PFF/TI/FoN) or ice (shield, snow storm, hibernate), they both work very well in PvP. For travel you can go for a combo hurdle (part of fitness), Combat jump, SJ and SS, its a overall mix of travel and attacking. Finish up with Aid self/Aid other. -
After trying basicly every set possible in the dominator AT, i finaly found 1 i seem to like. Fire/thorns.
However i hear alot of people saying thorns is rather weak damage, but if i look at the set it isnt that bad? Both ranged and melee they have imho decent (sadly lethal) powers, including a KD and Immobilize power. Add Aim to this, its not that bad? -
After a bunch of hours testing, the buff icons really confuse me nonstop. As AR has already the bug that both slug and burst show up on your own buffbar (as if u get the def-down or knockback), its quite hard to find out wich buff belongs to wich power.
Also believe the timings seems pretty off, my LRM missile (nearly 4sec execution) only last a rough 9sec (from the moment i see the icon i start timing) and flametrower wont even make the 7.5sec. Added the damage doesnt always seem to add instantly, if i keep doing burst/slug over and over, sometimes the 2nd or 3rd shot shows exact same damage in my combat log. Like there is a delay in damage boost. (then again, same happens to the 100% recharge proc, it randomly shows up).
Overall damage? Only if open with snipe/burst/slug i see a good increase of damage, but with dual-dmg powers it might be hard to compare the numbers with the previous.
I remain very happy with tier1/2 mezz shouting, did a few rounds of pvp against a defender (sonic/elec) wich did a hold on me and i still could damage him quite alot, as he had no KB resist i got him on his butty a few times to keep him from healing (aid self).
But an avarage of 60-70% for a high-spam blaster? Unlikely.
