I believe in terms of 'new stuff', CoH was pretty leading the MMO market. Dual spec, fully costumizable character (ok, Aion beats the hair/face by far), cross-nation AH, co-op with the enemy, and offcourse the MA. Some of these i never have seen in any other MMO.
But lets see if they can make it all come true, or be overwhelmed by Aion and CO launch (and later GW2). -

I still got screenshots and frap caps, my collectors edition still standing proud in my bookshelf.
They had a rough start, but they idea, the concept i really really liked. Too bad the servers went totaly crazy when finaly going back earth.
Other hand, they gave us alot of goodies, 2 months CoH, L2, GW stuff, but most of all.. Aion beta acces, goodies and 1 free month. -

last thing they now need to fix is normalise the summon and upgrade castintimes. While dark is freaking fast, merc take freaking ages (calling with his oversized mobile phone all the time).

I would only make 1 character, MM with costumizable pets.
We have MA, we can make our own mobs, we can 'force' AI to attack, to stay, to walk and to move. Combine... combine!
Overpowered? Perhaps, but they can always tune em down.
(in terms of mobs, how hard isit to fight a -2 boss/2lts and 3 minions?) -

Take Tough and Weave from Fighting and add two more melee attacks.
Make a new 'Defence' set, put Tough and Weave there add, add a little status resistance.
Make a ranged equivilant to Fighting.
I'm sure there are others people could think of.
That way, people could add a little variety to their characters before 41 if they wished, but at the expense of missing out 'better' powers and needing to slot heavily.

Each pool currently is designed to make choices, you cant have all, be smart on choices.
yet, wich imho is a lame thing, the 'forced powerpicks' among each set is very off-balanced. Where some builds only need 5-7 out of 9 powers, other builds are forced to take at least 7 and additional powers to compensate.
Shields can skip the 2 aoe def buffs and even shield charge, while willpower can basicly only skip rez-self. Dark and fire need to get -kb stuff (IO or leappool), while stone is always forced to have -slow in order to have protection at all. -

Still trying to get my head around these IO's which are a new thing to me. I found a build on the US forums which I am using for now however using SO's instead of what it says in IO's. My tank wasn't exactly wealthy so I doubt I will be buying any soon, but I will see how it pans out.
Fun getting back into the game, I must have spent at least an hour last night re-discovering the joys of superleap + skyscrapers, not so productive on the re-learning to play the tank but a good laugh anyway

Normal IO's are still affortable (100 to 500k at AH) but once you go to IO sets, bring along alot.. no wait, a trashload of influence.
Cheapest way? Go MA and use the MA tickets to buy the IO recipes (normal ones) and the needed salvage. Craft them, sell them, be a business man! -

Or, as seen in GW, only leads to most efficient builds and 99% of the time neglect alot of added powers, basicly being waste of time to add all the stuff. Not to mention the huge inbalance it will create..
Like what would you give troller primairy? Attack abilities? So basicly making fire/kin for example close to godlike. Tanker/scrapper with ranged? They are meant to be melee, just like a blaster is meant to be ranged (hench the primairy) and their secondairy is survival (be it dmg wise, control or mix of it).

I asume this would be GPRS or UMTS, wich can be damn slow/laggy also. On some places i've been in france they already had a wireless network, for a few euro you could use it freely.
Vodafone has Passport, you might cut back the cost a bit.
And who cares if he wanna play, i always bring my laptop along to every place i go. Nothing more then others going watch TV or listen radio, he play a bit of CoH. -

Wait wait.. you think these 'made public' thingies were even a problem? Dreck was finished way before they added the timer, family was fun for the moment, but they had 10 other missions ready to use, com officers was farmed WAY before it was known.
There are still mobs out there in the MA, reported over 2 MONTHS ago (yes, 2 months, 60 days, alot of hours) with detailed how to do this, that WONT attack you and you can freely wack them for exp. (its still in google cache, topic itself is gone already).
If i put two and two together, they are bluffing on banning, they went WAY over their heads on this MA and probably cant even cope all the changes that have to be done.
And a hint for bugged mobs: if you exemp, you will loose certain powers.
All you need is patience and alot of testing. -

For now, the majority? No. Nerf fire/kin BIG time and all will be quiet for a long long time.
No normal player will scream about it, merely those who use fire/kin for a reason, and that aint doing missions 'the normal way'. -

It does matter where it gets done - PI PLs have gone on for a couple of years, and the devs never said a word - MA PLs go on for a couple weeks, and the devs start banning 50s that have leveled too fast - that seems to show that the devs treat an MA PL as a way more serious problem than a PI PL.

Seriously, if the intent of an MMO was to get to 50 in a weekend, then things like the bugged CoP trial wouldn't have had to be removed. The game is DESIGNED to take time to play, which is why development time is spent on researching the XP curve etc rather than adding a computer in Atlas that you can click to insta-50.

TF's are designed to take a while, to be very hard. What is the current record? 32 minutes for MoSTF? BAN THEM!!! An avarage player will never even get close to that time, let alone even finish it.
So many yelling its too fast, but nobody ever tried.

No, rather just whine about the 'little content' each issue is being released, that it aint your 'stuff' and maybe CO is better. At least MA is something alot of people enjoy using, be it storywise or lvling-wise, whereby the avarage person will need days, even weeks to reach lvl50 even by using MA. -

Fast 50s outside of the MA were never mentioned, so the PLers can go back to doing it the way they did it before the MA came out - and as PI is pretty quiet these days, it seems the MA makes fast 50s easier than the old style PLing, which is certainly an exploit
PLing in the MA is worse than PI PLing because it clutters up the whole system - it's meant to be a creative resource for the players.

Did you read his entire statement? Or just the line 'we will ban them'? Does the EULA state: You are not allowed to create 45-50 missions that only consist lvl54 bosses, having 7 lvl50's and a lvl1 to repeately do this mission in order to get this lvl1 to 50 asap?
Meant and being used is not against the EULA. If the ouro is 'meant' to travel to ouro but everyone uses it to get fast to atlas, it aint a exploit.
Its nice that posi says so, but where is the exact proof? Apart from the 'grey washers', i never have seen anyone being banned yet.. oh wait, something with US boards... -
I do like the idea, but your example will conflict with the AT basics.
Blaster primairy only has ranged powers, with a bit of effect, nothing else. Adding powers such as defensive or 'controllish' doesnt suit, that would be part of secondairy.
But, your example would be perfect for a AR/AR blaster set. AR attackwise primairy, AR melee/defensive for secondairy, conceptwise sounds very very nice and creates more synergy (fire/fire, elec/elec, ice/ice, psi/psi etc).
Currently redraw (NO IT DOES AFFECT CASTING TIME! - screw that redname) and animation wise all weapon based sets have a slight dissadvantage. -

Probably not slotted for defence, afaik PFF is base 45% defence wich is just softcap. Players can overcome that very easy, scrappers with FA/drone can hit also insane high accuracy.
Bots have a 'headstart' on defence, while necro needs to build it up (stacking -acc). Hm, maybe even bots/dark or necro/dark might be a great choice, all boils down to personal preferences.
Necro tier 3 also has fear, wich is a nice to have power. And if the 2 graveknights stay ranged and slotted for -acc, they spam 2 dark powers pretty nonstop, would compensate the protector bubble me thinks.
I say both are pretty nice to have, my nerco/trap (pve) is my alltime favorite from all the MM's i have. Bots is plain mayhem, but only if u have the big bot out. -

Actualy, if you use the 5-gap on a 8 map mission only bosses is within the game mechanics, thus not breaking the EULA. And in such run, within the boundries of the game mechanics, it is possible to hit 50 within hours.
That you use the MA creativily, maybe not as devs would have liked you to use it, is in no way breaking of EULA.
And how much you cry, scream, kick, trash, yell, flame or spam, it wont change anything unless devs want to. And that is good, devs only should listen to constructive and argumented remarks, and since the majority is based on own personal view (including mine), it is far from the reality.
And maybe, instead of being so against it, so hatefull and so anti-farm (i sence hypocrism - or how u spell it), its better just to accept the current state and move on. Be it outside CoH since u cant enjoy it anymore, be it within the 'living hell' and find your own place of peace. -

What about revamped Hami? Striga island?
That a handful of players is lvling there while the majority comes there once or never, aint a guideline for 'succesful content'. -

That would be a no. The rotation of commando's attacks are serious gimped and since the majority of his attacks are SL he wont be doing much dmg. Then eventualy serum runs out and its end of the line for him (his base resist aint that great).
Personaly for PvP? Necro or bots. Necro for their huge -acc dark attacks and the toxic element, bots for their extra def, nrg dmg, -regen and survivability.
(do note, my opinion about mercs is really really bad, i have all MM sets now and they perform way below the others). -
Search the missions for a mission called 'starter guide' or something. MA created mission that explains more about the game then the entire tutorial does, i recommend that mission to anyone i see new in the game. Specialy since at lvl6 you already get the intro-mission for MA.
It is created for any lvl, it is merely the player that uses it for a differente purpose.
So what you say is, new players are dumb and 'mindless', not able to make their own choices and see if it suits them? So if i go as new player into any f2p game and see those 'gold seller spamming the noob zones', it would make me automaticly go to the website, buy gold and get my character lvled?
The problem is not caused by those farming, it is caused by those who 'demand' people to experience the game they same way they did years ago. Those who seem to think how new players will react to everything, without even standing around in atlas and checking what every new player is doing.
Everyone talks about long term, but nobody even knows what future will bring in this game. pre-MA it was all about sewer-runs, pre-sewer it was all about radio-missions, pre-ED it was all about perez-runs.
I say, overreacting. Normal teaming is being done, normal MA missions are being done, normal leveling is done. Just because its 'activly' around, doesnt mean its a standard. -
Whats wrong with farming anyway?
What exactly is different then doing normal missions? Same mobs, same goal, same powers, same exp. Sure, its more efficient since u can 'create your own group', but the baseline remains the same, doing something over and over again.
Outside 'enter mission wack mobs click glowy', what is there to do in this game? Outdoor wacking is only done in RV, with a certain goal, everything else boils down to the same basic of the game.
PL'ing can and will be done, you cant remove it. If you remove it from MA, they move to PI or create other ways within the MA to get 'doorsit' exp. Do you consider 8 people wacking 50-52 mobs in MA farming, PL'ing or doing a MA mission? Even within these missions, creativity ran wild and the most exotic and fun mobs are made.
Where do you draw the line? An 'super' team doing nonstop +4 missions grabbing some lowbies from their SG is not called PL'ing? Or is the plain issue that farming/pl'ing was made too easy now?
If they only would make a proper party-search thing, so they dont have to use /b for MA teams , non-MA players wont have to see the nonstop spam anymore and everyone can continue in peace.
All that learning-curve arguements is plain rubbish, newbs will learn be it at 1 or 50, n00bs will remain n00bs. Not MA, not farming nor PL can ever change that. -
MA currently is what keeps defiant alive, luckely.
People dont like -1 lvl sidekicks (less dmg, more exp), people dont like half-complete characters against lvl50+ mobs. So what can you do at 20-40? Hopefully get a team of 3-4 players and pray there is a tank and a healer around.
MA puts people together, any lvl, people willing to swap to other toons to 'smooth' the team to great balance of survival and damage. The ease of wacking mobs create fun chat, enjoyable time and nice lvling. No stupid traveling more then you fight, no 'talk to NPC' [censored] but plain do what you do most... wack mobs.
Yes, i powerlvl my own characters, so sue me. -
