Was the first batch of beta players based on the veteran thingie?
-
I would say drivers issue then, CoH been running here since Beta version (early this year?) and still going strong. And for once.. my X-fi worked with the very first driver installed, now that i call a miracle alone
Are u using the NClauncher thingie?
Now if there would be something bad, that would be the Family pack not going to be sold in Europe, only US so far i know. Other than that, Windows 7 for me is what Vista should have been. -
Well u can run linux on a PS3, i believe its even supported by Sony himself. I know a few people that managed to run CoX on Wine/linux, maybe.. just maybe this is also possible for the PS3. (and just plug in a keyboard/mouse) although very unlikly it can really use the graphic power of it.
-
My last test with Vista (UAC enabled) and tweakCoH, it wasnt working.
Just do the reg-edit manualy, it aint hard to find it. -
But that has little to do with stone armor, but he thing called PVroflmaoP.
(my first day in pvp, getting 4shot by a bunch of stalkers, pathetic). -
The bitter freeze ray was modified, casting time was reduce. However not sure if the damage was lowered.
Also, during normalisation, ice blast was actualy going up in casting time, but only tier 2 i believe.
And blizzard has been going up and down nonstop. Initialy it was self-boostable and did great damage, later it became non-boostable at all (static tics) and now its i believe boostable again but had a reduced tick. -
I agree to above points already, I have all primairies in the high lvls (2 50s, rest end/mid 40s) and although i picked probably the worst secondairy (TA) even without any support from the secondairy they perform really worse then the others.
For the medic:
Make heal non-interuptable, just like robot and (selfheal) necro. Nothing is worse then seeing him nonstop interupted by pretty much anything that comes his way (wich is easy, he's a melee freak).
Also, a 'true' medic on the field plays a way more defensive roll, give him less attacks (stupid handgrenade) and let him focus on what he really is.. a medic.
Mez/control:
Pathetic. But already said, seals have waaaay too long recharge and apart from that u only have a buckshot and that grenade.
But my main issue:
Redraw and DoT's. All attacks (apart from 2 commando attacks) are fully dots. Even if a mob is a 1% health and 1 initiate an attack all the others will do so alike due to the time it cost for the mob to hit 0%. Redraw on every freaking defeated mob is plain annoying, and will give unneeded delay in attacks (again, it aint part of the animation). Added appearantly their were never fully converted into the 'normalised' attack sequences like AR blasters. They remain way longer rooted and 'idle' before they fire off their next attack.
I would like a clear check on the redraw (just fix them with the weapon) and give them some instant damage attacks, like many other gun-whielding mobs have.
Due the nature of their damage (apart from flametrower) everything being SL, their damage decreases as the game progresses due higher base SL resist from majority of mobs. Where this is highly compensated by ninja's due their demon and crit abilities, necro due dark dmg and thugs/robots due their great set of additional fire damage (and rage), they have no compensation whatsoever, apart from -resist of the secondaires. Serum is a plain joke to actualy use, their resist is too low compared to other sets specialy if u check the control-abilities. (although thugs have none, hitting softcap on these babies is not even that hard, same goes for bots).
Then, stealth of Seals. Whats the freaking use of it? Randomly going in/out and no bonus like the ninja's has (crit). Also believe they have a -slow penalty while being in stealth.
Finaly, why only a certain few sets (actualy thugs, necro and not sure /dark) accept recharge intensive pets? Some sets can slot all 4 uniques, while others plain cant. -
I wrote this guide a long time ago, before the NClauncher was even there.
Yesterday i started a fresh install on Windows 7 and so i made up the new 'way' to get it fully working with the NClauncher and using the right folders.
Next few days i write a new guide, so this one can be replaced.
Also, it indeed is FREAKING slow to update/download the game from the updater, yesterday was going 13kb/sec and 2.7GB remaining.
The thing in the guide still valid is the color of the updater, so you can see wich client you actualy have. The next guide will include some registry stuff since NClauncher and CoH updater are not really 'compatible' with eachother.
So for rabbitz, it all can be fixed but i need a bit of time to write a new solid guide (specialy for us EU peeps). -
Nothing beats a /em backflip on a poop booted pile of rocks
Well, maybe the new pink pom poms of doom -
Quote:This, is the final penalty of stone armor. Granite already has quite alot, but outside granite rooted is the only power that grants mez protection. If you choose to go stone, you basicly choose not to jump and be slow, unless you fight non-mez mobs offcourse (steadfast for KB).I imagine that while you're in Granite with all those toggles on, you're not doing much more than standing there and hitting Taunt and the occasional AoE?
I also imagine that you're not literally running around with Rooted off 99% of the time, considering you kind of need it on when fighting outside of Granite.
I went from pre-ED into IO's, learning that you need end-reductions in your attacks in order to keep everything running and having less isues with endurance. Ok, the recovery stuff i have now along with the veteran and card-power-thingie (if u get lucky on +recovery), without it i still can run out of endurance.
But since he's on defiant, i play more on the US side, he's just collecting dust (get it.. rock, dust.. meh stupid joke) and i only wish i could transfer him. -
Quote:Does WP have end-drain resist btw? My granite runs only 3 toggles, i wonder what the other 5 would be? (FA, assault, weave, manuevers and err?) Or that was non-granite based? wich is indeed a end-nightmare.Scrapulous, that is a fair counter example, thanks! the only thing I'd refute is the fact the Stone Tank was running more toggles (8 vs 6) and burning far more endurance (mudpots alone is around the same cost as all 4 of WP's base toggles combined.)
*6th time i have to log in.. awww i hate this*
Quote:Someone might be able to equal that level of survivability, but I can't imagine any tougher easy to setup survivability challenge. -
Quote:Since when is damage used for agro? Afaik each attack has a static ammount of threath generated. And what are the odds today that you are not running with a kin, making a perma FS pretty often cap out damage anyway. 30% noticable? Unlikely.Movement is a big tanking penalty. Damage is also a threat tanking penalty. Besides, you only need one tank in a group. Taking a second tank is much easier to palate when it can actually do some decent damage.
There is also nothing in the game that you need a Stone tank for, period. Apart from the 1% of times where you can outlive a Willpower, the penalties clearly outweigh the benefits. And once you both are 50, I've never encountered a situation where a Stone can outlive a Willpower.
Its funny, i remember dozen of threads about granite should be made a clicky, as the penalties are too easy to overcome. But yet not overcome enough to 'match' with other primairies so it seems.
And even so, some swear by inv's, others see ice as best ever. Playstyle combined with build make result. Farming wise i've seen dozen of WP's going down, majorty to wrong play or not taking tough (to cap SL vs +5 SL bosses). Secondairy set also increase survivability, taking fire versus SS/Ice can make a huge difference in survival.
At the end, pretty much any primairy can stay alive in majority of endgame stuff, its mainly the preference of the player what makes the difference. Some are better at one thing, others at some other thing. I choose granite, the less i worry about myself, the more i can focus on keeping my team alive.
PvP however, if you consider that part of end game, ever other AT or set can perform better then stone armor -
Quote:Where in tanking is damage a penalty? Where in tanking is movement a penalty? (apart from a few nukes that are scary). Why would a WP need more recharge, if their only power that has recharge, is unaffected by it?Just my opinion but :
Stone can spend most of its efforts trying to overcome massive penalties to damage, recharge and movement where WP can achieve that same "Immortality" that stone has as well as push ahead in Damage, Recharge and movement.
.
The fact remains, end game =! IO build. If we talk about 2-3billion builds, these cant be achieved by just doing some random end-game content, i dont consider farming for inf as part of end-game.
Granite will remain the lead in survivability, only untill the very last end when you get to the big-bang-for-the-bucks IO's WP is taking over (but in that content, other primairies can do the same). Afaik WP cant hit cap SL resist by plain its own powers, you are basicly forced to get tough/weave, i say penalty, since the IO SL bonusses are that small, you cant get it from there. -
I hardly played, Aion beta was going also and that had priority. Added that defiant was freaking deserted, i did get lotsa lvls in Aion
-
I am a old school Granite/SS, maybe one of the first on the EU. Since i got granite, i never go outside of it. Yes, -recharge is deadly, but by compensating the need of less powers you can get more attacks. More attacks is more agro, so for the job it does just lovely.
True, granite/rooted cant move, but we are the rare breed that actualy use teleport as main travel power, both in and outside missions. Never stupid hovering after teleport, just drop on the ground and continue your thing.
When IO's came i was lucky buying the LotG's at a very low price (10-15mil) and together with 3x doctored wounds (rooted, EE, health) i manage to migate the -recharge. Damage in need i have rage, but i'm a tank and i leave damage to the others in the team.
In my entire granite life there was very little to fear, mainly psionic powers but even those i could take due a near cap health pool and only AV's would be possible deadly. (in wich case you can always pop a few insperations or sortlike - amy's wand). Other then that, Ghost widow, but i dont know many people that can hold back that trashload of magnitude, along with that 5th column guy of that ITF.
Even without IO builds, having a sonic or thermal in your team you can hit granite like resistance, defence wise a frost or FF would do pretty nice. Other hand, granite loves AM and SB's and basicly they are never to worry about regarding healing. Every primairy has achilles heel poins, compensated by other strong points.
Added, i still believe that RttC has a very weak weird agro aura, specialy compared to ice or inv. My personaly lack of WP was the heal ability, specialy against only a few mobs the regen is just too little, true against a cap-group its regen to its max. The holes of WP are easily compensated by tough/weave, but the static tier 9 aint really my style.
Overal, i will aways pick my granite. I know i am maxed on survivability and even achieve more by stronger IO's. I not always rely on SB/AM, as i can teleport, and when i know things going really bad.. i will stand my ground. -
What this has to do with Tankers?
Anyway, as a famous redname said: soon™ -

Ok, i mostly was hanging around US this weekend, but the times i logged into Defiant it was freaking scary quiet. With villains not topping 150 players and hero's still leading with 187 (saterday, 10pm).
Even sunday, afternoon 5pm, heroes never made it to 200 players, and this gets quite scary.
Is union snatching all of our players now? -
Ok thx for the updates. Clearly Ice melee aint that great yet, so im kinda stuck on the secondairies of tankers. Although elec is also comming, having it on my brute is pretty much enough (ok, that teleport tier9 is plain awsomeness).
I was hoping the +dmg of the shield power might migate the lack of raw damage, but that would be just kidding yourself so to speak -
Nah they're all on Union, yesterday at 11 (10pm best) there were 147 heroes online.
-
Quote:"in the near future"Not as far as we know.
Last I recall a redname commenting (on the EU boards) it was along the lines of "There are no plans for merging the server lists or merging servers".
(serious, they have to start considering it before they release GR) -
Quote:Wooo hold the horsies.I for one won't stand idly by while the Europeans take over! I don't want the King of England telling me what to do!
No freaking way the Queen of England gonna rule this place, that stupid island west of Europe is way too weird. (they drive on the other side of the road!). We got the german, the french, even Italian and spanish, but the most feared.. the Dutch. Unreconizable language, speech no one understands.. yes, that is to be feared.
The Netherlands will be ruler, windmills and clumbs* for everyone!
(read this as 2 other very populair *winkwink* products from Netherlands)
Besides, we had a headstart, New York once was ours -
I dont think so, currently you already can buy 1 3 and 6 months, but non give your 'paytime' in advance (in term of veteran badges).
However, since EU started later then US, is it even possible for EU players to hit 60 months? Well maybe a handfull of true-core peeps might have made it by then (november i asume), but i play on the EU as far i know from the start and i just passed 54 months.
