Those enhancements give you a permanent aura with 60ft radius. The power that you have slotted with aura IO doesn't have to be active.
As long as your pet is <60ft from you it gets resistance and/or defense bonus corresponding IO's you have slotted.
Iirc 60ft is also radius for many other team buffs like like Maneuvers, Tactics, Shadow Fall etc... Also Supremacy has that radius. It is pretty important to make sure that pets stay within that area, especially during challenging fights.. -
Tho I'm newbie MM I have to say that I'd most deffinately aim for more defence with tankermind build. Especially because it's so easy to get with bots/traps. You can actually softacap bots and yourself if you want. The difference in survivability will be next to insane.
Even if you are not aiming for softcapped build some more defence would make playing a lot more easy.
My almost softcapped MM (bots/dark) has killed now two GM's (one of them twice)and a few AVs. All without insp/temps. She didn't even use Darkest Night during those three GM fights.
I'm sure this build is fun to play and if that's what you are looking for go for it. But if one is talking about minmaxing or survivability there are quite a many things that could/should be done a bit different way. IMHO. -
One excellent build for bots/traps was posted by Anshar Seraphim just some weeks ago. There was also video of his MM called Sinthix doin some aoe pewpew .
Here is a link to that thread. I'd take a close look to it. It's one option, tho excellent one. At least I'd pick some slotting from it. -
Okay I realize now how noobish my question was regarding to AV killing with even decent MM build. I haven't (yet) killed more than four AV's and I had to try twice for one of them. But I managed to get my first ever (solo) GM kill just some minutes ago: Eochai. I don't know whether he can be counted as "real" GM but nevertheless I'm happy that I was able to nail GM with myt 1st attempt ever. Edit: checked time from screenshots; the fight was abt 15 mins.
To be honest it was not 100% pure solo kill. When Eochai was ~50% lvl 29 arachnos soldier joined the fight, but I belive I can still count this kill as solo one
My build still lacks the Miracle +recovery (and three additional Hamidons from prot bot that I'm gonna put there) so I belive build's current worth is still below 200m.
This AT really is a beast!
Edit: Killed him again. 8mins 20secs this time with better positioning. I guess I have to try some other GM to see whether Eochai really qualifies as such.
Edit2: Ghost of Scrapyard down now. 1st try again. But the fight was a long one, 35mins. I failed to find a decent spot. Had to kill a HUGE bunch of miners the same time that I was fighting with th Ghost. -
Thx for the reply. I actually respecced this evening. Got too bored with my old build.
I actually did some testing: Two Pylon runs, times were 4:35 and 4:08. I'm fine with that, tho I'm gonna try again after I manage to get two more nucleoluses.
Ice Mistral was really easy 5:15. Scirocco was much meaner with his tornados and endu drains. I forgot to turn the clock on, but I estimate the figth was around 10 mins. The sucker kept killing my bots with those tornados all the time. 1st run he was <10% when he got lucky combination of two hits in a row the same times tornados killed most of my bots. I already grave for some more defence
That would prolly have been a lot easier fight if I'd used some inps (purples/blues).
So yes, this build is enough for some av's but I have some doubts regarding GM's. Perhaps after solving some l2p issues I'll give a try. -
As the title says, this is very cheap lvl 50 build, propably less than 200m without Numina +recovery IO. I left basic Health slot empty for the mentioned IO. This is my first villain so I'm still very low with cash.
I've build it with speed pool instead of flight (or leaping) for three reasons. a) faster grinding; I dont have to wait 45secs for Tar Patch and next group b) to get HT up as fast as possible for AV (and possible GM) fights. c) This is much much cheaper than the build I'd like to use without speed pool.
Obvious weaknesses are at least a) Lowish effective endurance gain (could it be enough without blues now or after slotting Numina +recovery??) b) Though rng and aoe are going to be softcapped with bubble and debuffs s/l/melee isn't quite softcapped.
My current build is quite close to this but defensively speaking slotting is much more horrible. Still pylon was peace of cake without temps/insps. So I started to wonder whether I could already build at least semi-good AV/GM soloer with very limited founds.
So here you go. Please comment!

Quote:This has worked pretty well with my bots. Bolded part is one of best advices I've seen. I'm sure after dismissing 1-2 A-Bots none of the Drones or Protectors dares to disobey anymoreTry liberal use of Passive mode to keep wayward pets following orders.
Passive will clear out their agro list, making them more responsive to things like Stay, Goto, or Follow.
Of course don't just keep them in Passive all the time (you'll at least need Defensive for bodyguard mode), but periodically flip them into that mode to remind them you have orders you'd like followed immediately, not at their whim.
If that doesn't work, I usually shoot one where the others can all see...
Btw one usefull trick while fighting at controlled environment (AE grinding for instance) is to only use lvl 32 bot upgrade (or 1st summon Protectors and then use lvl6 "equip" and then summon A-bot and drones and finally cast upgrade. I almost could offer my head on a plate unless this trick result a vast higher usage of aoe powers (that you get from lvl32 upgrade).
I don't know whether this is common knowledge that I just didnt know (or whether I'm just greatly mistaken, but I kinda doubt it). But I realized it just few days ago while pondering the way bots are recycling powers they are going to use. Now I can solo purple lt's with greater speed because I dont have to deal with runners. They almost never manage to leave my Tar Patch before entire +3/8 spawn is down as they used to pretty often before I learned this trick.
I'd actually call bot grind (not that my build is even close to best ones) aoe awesomeness unless I hadn't seen elec/sd scrapper of my friend hitting 750hp (dmg capped) pbaoe attacks and basically two shotting entire spawns non stop (Lightning rod+Fireball, next spawn with Stunning charge+Fireball. Rinse and repeat. That was totally sick). -
I'm really new with a game, bought it just a month ago. I've really only played scrappers now. Got one spines/fa 50 and a couple of others 25-30.
I'd like to give a try to Doms now. I just can't decide prim/sec and hope you can help me. So far I've been thinking fire/fire fire/elec or plant/?
What I'm looking for: Build (prime/sec) mainly suitable for solo (/duo). Prefarbly having pretty/really fast gameplay. At lvl 50 being she should be able to kill at least elite bosses (or farm hoards of bosses) (can dom's btw do that??) A combo that doesnt require most expensive IO sets (purples and lots of rare chants) to be able to perform well.
What I'm willing to sacrifice: She doesnt have to be good at groups. I dont mind at all pressing more than 3-4 keys while playing"Late bloomer" is allowed.
TIA! -
Quote:I'll swap sets between sta/consume. I dont know why I had put perf proc in consume.I haven't looked much at it (I'm bad at high defense builds, by minmaxing standards
) but it seems you could swap the sets in Stam and Consume (ending with the proc in Stam, it'd proc more often) and swap RoTP for Physical Perfection in I16 (with a perf shifter proc in the base slot).
I'd swap the sets in Tough and Plasma Shield too, you want maximum enhancement values in Plasma more than in Tough.
The three additional slots in Burn don't seem that great either, you could use these and put 4 Impervium Armor instead of Aegis in Fire Shield and Plasma Shield, improving your end usage a bit.
Not sure if any of this advice would actually be optimal for your build, that's just random thoughts.
Burn has oblits because of +9accuracy. Im very conserned whether the build has enough accuracy even now?? In case I really can manage without +acc I'd more than willing to put those slots elesewhere.
I also still could sacrifice a bit more aoe defence for very slight resistance and endurance improvements (once slot from CJ to Fire shield and swapping aegis to reactive armor). Tho I'm not sure whether it's worth it.. -
Cheap yet very effective build. Almost makes me sad I'm planning (and levelling) kat/fa as my new scrapper. Perhaps I should have bothered to really get familiar with /DA powers before deciding. I'm impressed!
Edit: Perhaps I shouldn't ask, but no Achilles Heel in build? I guess you find difficult to softacap ranged while fitting AH in the build and prefer softcapping?? -
Quote:You are right. Tho my mistake was using round instead of roundup (systematically). It means dps of build is more like 170dps than 180dps. On the otherside endurance drain from attack chain is also ~0.25/sec less than I calculated and net loss is ~0.7/sec while CP is down.Gambler's Cut only needs to recharge in 1.58 seconds. Time for Divine Avalanche = (roundup(1.33/.132)+1)*.132 = 1.584 seconds. It looks like you missed the +1 part of the formula.
Disabling Blazing Aura or Tough while CP is down should solve endurance issues. But other than that I dont find ways to really enhance this build :/ -
Quote:Hmm I sure have to consider again also higher dmg route..Not exactly on topic, but might be of interest : I originally planned a high defense route with my own Kat/FA, ending with about 170 DPS ; then I ran the numbers on going pure offense and found out I could get around 250 DPS. Of course, the pure offense build would have to use luck insps to survive AVs, but I think the difference in DPS here is large enough to be worth mentioning.
Using 95% hit chance (I dont know whether it's realistic with this build) I seem to get ~180dps with this build. That's without taking casting times for heals/consumes into account. In "worst case scenario" ie casting HF/Consume every time they are up dps would drop ~20dps. Still better than I actually was excpecting (assuming my maths are correct). -
After three weeks of playing CoH I finally managed to reach lvl 50 first time. My first toon is spines/fa scrapper. She's cheapo version of Umbral's spines/fa build but seems to manage quite fine at farming. Before asking my questions I'd like to thank Umbral for the build and also many other ppl here at forums for publishing builds which have helped me a lot to get some basic ideas how to make builds (BrokenPrey, SpeedForce, Werner, Nihilii, Bill Z Bubba to name but a few...) tho I'm still totally novice so I'm sure (and hoping) there are lot's of ways to improve my build..
This is current plan for my kat/fa build ment almost purely for solo(/duo) play. But first and foremost I'm hoping to be able to kill at least few AV's with her in future. She's currently only lvl 26 without any IO sets and also influence isn't farmed yet so it'll take some time anyway to get her geared up. My current build is on the price cap. I hope you can take that into consideration while helping me to improve her.
A few explanations before build. I wanted to pick some of less used primary/secondary combinations and while kat/* is prettty common kat/fa seems to be less "popular".
While making the build I wanted to reach softcap at melee/ranged and aoe has suffered because of that. I also wanted to include Burn (immob prot), Conserve Power (obvious reason), Rise of the Phoenix, Build Up and Fiery Embrace which caused some grey hair to me. To be able to use DA->GC>GD->GC->DA->GC->SD->GC chain I had to slot GC "awfully" to be able to reach 1.45s recast time that is needed with this chain (in case I haven't misunderstood something)
So here is the build. Do you think sacrifices I had to make(??) (low accuracy pretty low +dmg, no debuff resitances) have ruined this build?
I assume another problem is endurance consumption. I estimated her end drain to be around 4.3/sec when using attack chain and toggles and she's gaining only 2.91/sec+~0.35/sec from Consume (with one opponent) and ~0.1end/sec(??) from perf shifter. In any case I wont survive without blues from the time CP is recharging even without Blazing aura.. Have I missed something (many things) or am I just trying to achieve impossible combination?
Thanks for all the advices!! And one more thing: Please ignore the order I've slotted her and selected powers here.

Thanks for advices SF and Gaderath.
I didnt realize SO's or lvl 30 common IO's can give so high (to me 30-38% is high) boosts. I just have to get a few more lvls and then hasten recharge is decent. Otherwise I'll purchase decent common 30-35 IO's and go with those till 47 and then start to build some more decent IO sets.. Sounds like cheapo and great "bang for buck" way to lvl my1st CoH toon. Just as I wanted. Thx again
I most prolly will never put these amounts of inluence to this charcater. So in case you have some nice suggestions of changing slotting from original I'd be happy to hear those. Prolly I'll anyway adjust (=ruin) it a bit because of my own preferences -
Sry if I hijack thread briefly. But afterall I have some questions regarding the OP's build.
Tho I've been playing mmorpg almost as long as they have been available (starting at MUD era)I'm totally newbie at CoH. In fact I created my 1st character less than a week ago. After brief forum reading I decided to make a scrapper hence it seemed to be easiest class to start from a scratch. I usually make my own builds but CoH concept is a bit different than the ones I've been used to and on the other hand nowadays I dont have enough time to really "get into" games anymore.
Ive been following the original build (now lvl 19). Only difference is that I took Hasten at 16 (because at that point I felt I need dps more than PS) and Quills at 18 (because I didnt basically have any major reg probs then). Now I do feel I need more endu reg so gonna go hea20 and sta22.
But the question is. Hence this is my 1st toon I really dont have any decent amount of Inf at my disposal. Should I take it into account when building this toon what comes to slotting or even picking powers. At the moment I'm really tempted to but 4th or perhaps even 5th slot into hasten but I'm trying to hold my horses
TIA!
