A level 21 GM has roughly the same number of hit points as a level 50 AV; if you can kill an AV at level 50 you should be able to take out the GMs at that level or less (which is basically Deathsurge redside, barring the Halloween GMs spawning in Mercy or Port Oakes).

Nope.
GMs have higher regeneration than AVs, and take less damage because of their coding -
You haven't learned how to walk, and you're already thinking of winning marathons? Hmm, I'd slow down a little there pal. Enjoy the view, maybe smell some roses and whatnot...
-
I went with the Gaussian set and let my +acc bonuses take care of the accuracy, since SD already has a 1.20x base accuracy it doesn't need much help there
-
It also depends on the power. Most powers have a base accuracy of 1.00x, while others have a 1.2x (most single target controller powers, total focus, energy transfer, soul drain, etc) and even 1.4x (nukes, assasin's strike, etc). These powers will do just fine with only 1 acc SO in them

Antimatter is one very tough customer (unless you're SR with capped DDR), almost as bad as Positron.
Good job! -
Fire/Rad isn't so much better, it's a little better.
Ill/Rad used to be king back then when people didn't know how to softcap defenses, so they needed tanking indestructable pets to hold the aggro. Now that people have learned all these cool tricks you can do with IOs, that benefit provided by illusion is no longer needed, so the extra damage that Fire/Rad does is indeed welcome
Not to mention Fire/Rad has a much easier against multiple AVs, keeping them nice and immobilized (something illusion can't do) while dealing a crapload of AoE damage thanks to containment.
GMs can be problematic as they like to spam Foot Stomp and send your imps flying, eventually killing them. To avoid this you just have to fight the GM for a few minutes (3-5) to build up "hate" before summoning the imps, so the aggro stays on you (and of course keep hovering/bunnyhopping out of melee).
An illusion controller can't kill a DE GM without temps :-/ -

Unless you've got a very strange attack string that uses Chillblain more than BIB

Chillblain, BIB, Chillblain, Ice Blast sounds like the chain I'd use if I made an ice blaster for soloing AVs... -
Yeah, Caltrops actually has higher DPA than MG

He might be able to cascade his defenses but I don't think Manti would put out enough damage to kill him.

Soloing AVs is by no means the norm for a "casual" player

Roll a new toon, transfer all the inf to this toon until it's inf capped, then delete it.

One character against one archvillain = AV soloing.
Anyone is free to make up their own imaginary rules, but you shouldn't expect everyone to play that way.

Oh ..didn't know that. Well guys, excuse me while I go get some fresh shivans, a warburg nuke, a full tray of tier 3 inspirations, and a pocket chuck norris. I'll be back tomorrow to brag about the AV I took down with my MA/DA scrapper.

Damage Capcity for Dominators is 400% total - including the 100% for doing normal damage (So +300%).
If you're slotted heavily for damage (95%), you're at a total damage modifier of 195% (for argument's sake, 200%). Other buffs numbering up to 200% (Assault, Build-Up, Set Bonuses, Siphon Power, Fulcrum Shift, Accelerate Metabolism, Fortitude, what have you) will only bring you up to your total capacity of 400%. In effect... you're already at half of your damage cap just from slotting.

Softcapped defenses are good, but they're not the end of all be
You WILL get hit, and with no damage resistance or healing you will get hit very hard. Unlucky strings of hits also happen more often than you'd think... -

What are these caltrops you speak of? O.o

a petless mm has NO chance of soloing a damned thing. flawed analogy is flawed.

I did it on the test server just for kicks and giggles on my Pulse Rifle/Traps MM -
The CoH boards are for people to moan and cry about something they don't like, completely disregarding any previously posted explanation about why the "issue" that bothering them is very difficult to adress or just downright impossible (Power Customization)

The only point I mentioned it's NOT soloing is with the use of a Temp Shivan or HVAS, you are physically NOT soloing as there are two entities working on the same target. Maybe you should take your own advice as well.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wait, does that mean MMs with henchmen and Controllers with pets don't count as AV soloers?

Come on now...be serious...you know what (s)he is trying to say.

Back when I started soloing AVs using insps was cool. Then Werner brought his "no temps/no insps" rule forcing the rest of the AV crowd to get with the times and make even more refined builds to be able to match his accomplishments
Today? I still think insps are acceptable in some very specific situations (yellows to overcome Mynx's elude, blues to counter Recluse's recovery shutdown, purples to counter Positron's defense debuffs if you're not /SR, etc). But the majority of the AVs should be soloed with no temps/no insps, in my very own personal opinion that belongs to me and is of my property.
Your opinion may vary, but soloing AVs with temps (Shivans, Nukes) and insps (T3's) isn't exactly an accomplishment. -
Looks like it's got the basics. You can either use that build with Fire Mastery or Power Mastery, both will get the job done anyways (I personally favor the damage since I didn't see any end problems). Now you'll just have to go for a stroll and share the results
