Dark is usually good but IMHO you should mix it up with other powersets: Dark/Shield brute, Fire/Dark Corr, Dark/Nin Stalker, Necro/Pain MM, etc for a more balanced team capable on taking bigger challenges
-
My IO choices involves slotting for nearly softcapped ranged defense and near perma Hasten/AM
-
Since Body Mastery is a copy of Energy Mastery with a different name, I'm gonna go ahead and assume it's exacly Pyre Mastery from tanks (with a different name)
-
AV fights were pretty short, usually 3-4mins
And Weatherby: click the "Defender" link on my sig, that's how I'm planning on documenting the Lusca fight on my controller as well -
So recently there was an arguement about which controller is best suited for the task, to which everyone blindly answered "ill/rad". While looking closely at Illusion Control and Fire Control, I started theorizing that the latter is more effective in terms of both damage and control. While Illusion has the advantage of defense (in the form of 3 indestructable taunting pets), Fire has the upper hand in offense. And in these days of IO's, the defense can be found through other means; resulting in a better, stronger, more powerful superhero =)
Most of these were done using the unofficial Scrapper rule (no temps, no insps): Fire/Rad/Fire soloing AVs and GMs
Coming soon: soloing Lusca, soloing multiple AVs at once. -
Basicly one of the reasons why Rad/Sonic Defenders enjoy such nice a warm blanket of survivability against hard targets: their Enervating Field which would normally debuff -25% dmg, actually debuffs closer to -50% dmg with all the -res stacking going on.
-
As are resistance debuffs boosting damage debuffs in the same way they boost damage =)
-
Cones are easy to line up when you're fighting melee oriented enemies that pile up on you (Freaks, Cimerorans) and they're excellent powers in this scenario. Against ranged attackers like Council, Nemesis, Malta and many many other enemy groups, not so much.
-
Quote:Correct, the regen and recharge debuffs are autohit.Yes, PGT ticks and reapplies the -regen, so it lasts for as long as they're in the cloud plus 10 more seconds. Going by Redtomax's site it looks like it ticks every second. I believe it's auto hit.
PGT has a duration of 30 seconds, so the debuff will last 40 seconds as long as the target remains in the poison cloud. -
I'll definitely be making a Spine/Elec =)

Ranged attacks used by DE GMs check against AoE defense, even though [Crystal Shards] says ranged ingame :-/

If survivability is your problem I'd recomend going Mu Mastery instead, grab Charged Shield and slot it well. Stacked with Tough, you'll reach pretty high numbers of S/L resistance which will help you take down those DE GMs. Also keep in mind that DE GMs are the second hardest GMs to take down.
Try Scrapyard and/or Kraken, those two are accesible through AE. Then try easier AVs like Praetorians or Council, before going in and play with the big boys (Woodsman is rather dangerous no matter what). That way you can get more familiar with fighting AVs with a corr
On my Fire/Rad (Controller) I don't get mezzed that much, but when I do I usually survive due to AM greatly reducing the duration, spamming my heal then retoggling my debuffs -
Quote:I pretty much agree with this assessment and suggestion.I can tell you're most likely being sarcastic with this thread, but I'll answer suggestion seriously.
HP is not the issue with defenders and corruptors. Both ATs have quite a wide variety of tools to survive in both blasts and support sets. Also changing HP count directly effects all team/ally heal effects which already have support values balanced around the idea that Corr/Def/Trollers all have about the same base hp (1070/1017/1017 respectively). Any dramatic shift such as to 1204 (blaster hp) or 1338 (scrapper hp) would severely hurt this balance. HP caps are a completely different story and IMO should be raised significantly across all ATs.
Current damage mods for corruptors and defenders are 0.75 and 0.65 respectively. With scourge the corruptor damage modifier might as well be 0.84 against standard foes (minion/Lt/boss) using Starman's quantified data. This is a 30% damage advantage for Corruptors versus about a 25% defender support advantage. A defender modifier of 0.67 would balance it at 25% to 25%, but defender damage would still be too low compared to other ATs. Controller damage modifier is 0.55 but since containment is easily achieved and doubles, it's actually 1.10. Let's assume corruptor damage should equal 1.10 after scourge, we would need to increase both defender and corruptor modifiers by 31%. That would come out to be 0.98 for corruptors and 0.87 for defenders. If controller mod was lowered to 1.00 you would have corr/def mods of 0.9/0.8. So it should really be lower controller mod from 0.55 to 0.5 in addition to increasing corr from 0.75 to 0.9 and defender from 0.65 to 0.8. -
Fire/Rad is also better when facing multiple AVs simultaneously, if anything because you can't control the PA pets to each hold a separate AV's aggro

Good Sonics don't use Shout
Also Ultimus, if you're wanting to solo AVs/GMs go /Traps or /Rad -
Quote:With a Sonic/Rad/Mu, you should have no problem soloing AVs and GMs.Quick question here for you guys: is soloing AVs and GMs with a sonic/rad corruptor as viable as soloing w/ a rad/son defender?? I can't see why not besides the APP choice difference (which sucks for corruptors because the psi defender app has world of confusion which can hold a purp set that gives 5% ranged def when 6 slotted).
I tried building a Son/Rad corruptor in mid's and I just couldn't get the ranged def above 40%.... :-(
40% ranged def is all you need, RI will do the rest. -

SD/DM is very powerful in single target damage
Fire/Fire is very powerful in AoE damage
Stone/DM is very powerful in staying power -
He can do it because he is P-Forge, get with the times son.
As for the build, WP won't do as much damage as /SD so you're gonna have to pick AVs with no godmode or self heal. Follow the advice by Rieze and you should have a pretty survivable toon. -
Quote:ThisOther than, "Just because" it doesn't seem like it. Creating new pseudo pets is one thing (burn, shield charge, Lightning Rod), but when powers like death shroud, blazing aura, RotP, Dark regeneration, consume, etc. don't crit, and powers like jump kick, flurry, boxing, and the epic attacks do crit, that doesn't make sense to me.

Another vote for Sonic/Traps for having some sweet synergy (-res and -dam)
