Some really good banter coming from yourself didn't make me hate you but boy did i want to take down that load mouthed MM

People who don't give anyone grief when they do get killed, I have no issue with.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Re-edited from my PoV. Trashtalk done properly should make you dislike the character, not the player. Otherwise where would all the real Wolverine, Spiderman, Ben Grimm's be?

If someone swaps sides, I try to make sure they know I'm doing it for a reason. Usually to make them run slap bang into a drone. Verbal Taunting if you like.
  3. Hammer, word of advice. Get out before the lock comes in.
  4. Well, Oni Criticalling Flame Breath; Or Jounin Criticalling Caltrops (possible?) whilst Oni criticals RoF/Flame Breath?

Lots of REALLY bad combos that could be made up.
  5. 'Goto' is also very nice for the times when they hit you with an AOE and then fly off; stopping your rapidly departing Bodyguards in their tracks.
  6. The problem is that there's no set rule for pets to use powers; as I gather the only set of rules is 'pick a random power'; or at least that's what it seems like.

There's also the body map; which tends to upset them; if you use 'follow' to run up to someone with a melee attack charged; often you can't path right next to them so it stays unused.

Creating a workable AI in these situations is murder; similar can be seen when you're locked in a prison cell; usually only 3 of the 6 will attack the door; and it's the fast-casts that will usually do it first.
  7. Usually I find that using MZ's control; I can force my Jounin into melee range; and quite often if they're on agressive; they'll Hand-Crossbow Crit then Jump in for Leaping Chops.

The thing is that with Gloom, they're often in Bodyguard range; so it does help the incoming attacks; but it still is a little annoying.

I tend to get the reverse problem with my Genin charging everyone.
  8. Whilst I'm erecting PFF and Temperature Protection; is there actualy anywhere IN game that says this useful piece of information?

You know...so people don't have to read the whole PvP thread to get this?
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I couldnt see any reason to post them unless she were trying to attack me in some way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now doesn't that at least imply some form of confusion in this whole area? Hence "Back away".

Honestly; I HAVE actually played in PvP. A lot of which Syn, Cel and myself actually agree on; being that the setup is not helpful. Our disagreement stems from that Heavies can swing the battle far too quickly (my point) but can be dealt with through certain powers (S/C point) which some of us find hard to use (my point) or make the actual PvP boring (my point).

The most interesting thing is that both me and Hammer play Nrg/Nrg blasters.

But if we're looking at building the Marqandance Killer PvP character; we're talking an awful lot of pool powers and very little primary/secondary.
  10. Back away Marq; Stasis said that no-one would be able to understand a personal choice because "It's personal"; not an implication of lack of understanding.

I believe him to be taking a position not based on fact but on supposition, in an attempt to bolster his flailing argument.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whilst if you'd remembered, I have also posted about my Mind/Emp in PvP; she's been in Sirens quite recently.
  12. Browbeating again LP ; maybe some people who aren't on the forums don't like it. I'm not saying whose right or wrong; just giving my opinion and any evidence I've had from my nights of play.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
If the majority don't have an issue with it, that would sort of imply things are reasonably well balanced, no?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The majority of posters are not the majority of PvP'ers. Subtle difference.
  14. I'd felt it was more than attempting ; but I feel you're right; not just backing you.

Heavies do work for the Turret Game; but their Strengths (especially in a Level based game) make them overtly game defining in the PvP game. No other area allows you to have a higher level minion than yourself.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I've also read every post on this SW and like you said the majority say "I can deal with heavies". But could the reason RV is usually empty by that the majority of people simply aren't interested in PVP ?? or even if they are they don't have toon high enough to get into RV ??

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's possible; and it bring on what Hammer was saying; if you don't have a Stalker-Hunter and there's lots of Stalkers around; or only Heroes; you can't just switch sides.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
Maybe you can provide evidence and quote where people call others rubbish, I cant remember seeing that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I don't see any point to it; but I can recognise a hidden Wildean barb from others in an innocuous statement.(Oh sirs, I do believe he talks of Empaths as though he is still playing EQ, what a poor fellow)
  17. [ QUOTE ]
This isn't one of those 'mine is bigger than yours' arguments is it? What you do with it counts too

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've seen Hammerfall fight. He's very very good.

And I've read EVERY post in this thread. What the majority are saying is "I can deal with Heavies; you must be rubbish if you can't"

    That's not a discussion, that's browbeating.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
I'm not the one claiming I'm providing evidence though. Do you see how this works?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not the one providing an ad hominem argument to preserve the status quo though; you (and your partner) are saying that it's broken; but you don't wish to fix it.

Lower the Environment aspect and boost the Player aspect; that's all we're asking for; and is something, that in a way, you agree with.
  19. Fair enough, you have your own view. Possibly taken from your AT.

I find it difficult to play in RV with Heavies/GP's. You seem to be ignoring my opinion in place of your own. That's your perogative.

However, RV is empty a lot of the time; ever considered why? Perhaps, just perhaps, it's the Risk vs. Reward of taking out the environment for XP over taking out skilled players for nothing.

Just as a thought. Name anywhere that gives you an immediate boost of Damage/Defence etc. over everything else.

Risk vs. Reward. That's the Cryptic take on it. You can call me names as much as you wish, still doesn't change the fact that RV is often empty; and that's NOT just due to the lack of challenge there.

It's quite easy to lead an army in there to 'arrest' all newcomers; it's more difficult to achieve when there is no-one in there worth arresting.

And anyway. Healbot/Buffbot; it just means the Empath doesn't do anything other than watch a health/buff bar and that's not an exciting thing to do.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What? Have you ever actually DONE this? Like, properly?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes. Sux
  21. [ QUOTE ]
Most of what you have said has been backed up in your own opinion, not by evidence - don't try to fudge the two around me Weasel, you know I'll just jump on it. The reason you've seen so many people telling you that Heavies are easily defeatable is because you've been sat here with your fingers in your ears going "Heavies can't be beaten! Heavies are overpowered!" We're just telling you that they can, and they're not.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But "We're just telling you that they can, and they're not." is opinion, not evidence Syn.

    [ QUOTE ]
I think the one thing we can agree on is that the reward system in RV needs to reward PvP and conflict, rather than rewarding PvE and peacemaking. That is entirely independent of the existence of Heavies, however.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Agree Former. Disagree latter. If there was ANYwhere else in game that allowed you to have +4 minions (Hold on...didn't MM Pets get nerfed down because they were too powerful...oh yes...); then it wouldn't be a problem; but again; as is often the case in most of CoH; the environment is more powerful than the players; even teamed.

The name of the game is SuperHero. Super being 'above the norm'. Here we're below the norm.

And anyway. Healbot/Buffbot; it just means the Empath doesn't do anything other than watch a health/buff bar and that's not an exciting thing to do.

Now; if, as you've admitted; certain AT's find RV difficult; that sort of kills the end-game for most of us (Which consists of Newspaper Missions (Impossible Bank Raids); RV (Extrememly hard defences) or Hami...)

And careful of your word twisting Syn; Close to invincible without specific choices does not equal invincible; you're arguing from the same point as I am; just differing sides.

Most of what I 'claim' has been backed up in evidence

    [/ QUOTE ]

    It is?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yes, I've done it.

    [ QUOTE ]
All 4 PVP zones are used primarily by farmers atm.

    [/ QUOTE ] They are?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most people go into the zones for the rewards. You head to most zones and there's only ever a few people there. The only ones that announce they're heading to the zones are usually going for the rewards.

Shivans, Stealth Suits, Nukes etc. are all 'needed' for specific GM's etc. or there's people going for badges; the only time I've ever managed to get a 'good' battle going is in Siren's; and that's after doing broadcasts for people to come.

So...yep, in my experience; that's what happens. And if it's mine, it's quite likely to be a lot of others.
