GG has people turning up on a specific time/date. Atlas doesn't, GG is easier to predict.

    [/ QUOTE ]

RP'ers complain. Level 1's get upset and tend to leave for other games.

Tonight has been an eye opener at least. And there are still spammers at GG and most other RP events 99% of the time.

    As Xanthus said, RP'ers care; PvP'ers don't.

(Given that's from an ardent PvP'er/non-RP'er, make of it what you will.)

..This has given me doubts about Union tbh..

    [/ QUOTE ]

Strangely enough, Defiant also received it and were protesting heavily; but not as nastily I hear.

To those asking why I brought this up in the first place, I felt that the original joke had snowballed out of control and left some very ugly marks behind it. Perhaps I was a little out of order, but some of the provocation received makes me very hurt and angry; for what was; to all intents and purposes, a very different fish to what we started with.
  3. [ QUOTE ]

This part both worries and intrigues me.. where did anyone say that it was ruined? The previous post didnt say anything about how 'when they werent dancing or /em boomboxing, I was sad'.
    Chiefette

Thanks for ruining my night, cant even be arsed to play anymore. Yes I know it was a joke.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Given that I've been told tonight that RP'ers can just be stuffed into a small corner in one of the hazard zones and there's a group of players waiting to grief any RP'er they can, (One player got hassled for actually daring to have a background) I'd say that, as PvP/RP'ers; there's a cosm there that makes me very uncomfortable to continue playing.
  4. So, if someone wants to do something in the PvP zone, you'll deliberately head over to break it up; and then when it's not there, you'll consider your night ruined?

Think that's all that needs to be said really. Cya sometime people.

Honestly, some of you make me sick.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think this bit seems aimed at the general populace. Telling people off, whether they were there or not isn't going to be well received.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Note : Some =/= Everyone.

Some of the comments Stasis and I received were enough to really put us off playing with the majority for some time to come, and this was before it was noted as 'a joke'.

It may have been a bit of silliness, but the level of hate poured out against MOderators/Backgrounds/ The Forums and RP'ers was apalling.
  6. [ QUOTE ]

Save it for the /AC mate, we've had none of this here...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope, you've had no cause for concern over EULA breaks, threats to follow people around, people spewing hate at RP'ers or vicious tells.

We did. From a few words.

    Think yourself lucky.
  7. Quite frankly I'm apalled at some actions.

I started it with a throwaway comment over arena. Xan picked up on it because we'd been having a slight RP/PvP thread.

Now we've people demanding things, Insulting Stasis and other stuff.

Honestly, some of you make me sick.
  8. I thought it was pretty interesting to see some REAL opinions broadcast across Arena too. Jeez, you guys hate RP for no real reason. People threatening to leave over this? Crackers
  9. [ QUOTE ]
Anyone writing as Laurel K Hamilton.....?

Y'know, just so I can completely avoid the pron.... ahem, I mean the deep vampire/werewolf/any other bestiality theme you'll be writing?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's for next year
  10. Well, I'm using the name Reptyle, and I'd invite everyone to add me so that WHEN I decide that I want to bunk off, you can give me a kick
  11. [ QUOTE ]
That's a pretty nifty program actually.. I've just set up all of my chapters/scenes and it's all ready to go on Wednesday!

    *gulp*

    [/ QUOTE ]

I quite like it as well, but then it's got lots of extraneous buttons.
  12. [ QUOTE ]

No. They will, however, be providing me with inspiration and feedback, and I'll be spending enough time on trains and in expensively grim Travel Taverns away from them (and Paragon) where I can catch up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And there's always a book by your bedside to nick ideas out of. Dan Brown, I'm looking at you!
  13. [ QUOTE ]
For once letÂ’s try and have a united front for role-playing

[/ QUOTE ]. If you can do this, you'll have managed something similar to Everton and Liverpool joining teams.

BUT, it won't be before time.

The curse of roleplayers is wanting to play with the world as well as the characters without realising the world is shared. Let some 'infractions of your own personal code' go for a change; because when you're Moderating, you're not having fun.
  14. And Barbara Cartland wrote the same novel 80 odd times.

    Hold on...
  15. [ QUOTE ]
I wish everyone here the best of luck. Just... try not to sully yourselves by writing purple prose! You'd have to live with the shame forevermore!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Would coagulating observances within a mauve prosaic lexicographical interface be unobjectionable?
  16. [ QUOTE ]
"And he said to himself, "That's a fine looking flat and smooth wall. I wonder how on earth it got so flat and smooth. For it is, so very flat. And oh so beautifully smooth. Like a very thin baby's bottom.""

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Without the lava of digested milk, of course.". Take that, Shaun Hutson.
  17. I've wound myself into a bit of a pickle as well as I've three possible main characters; but who suits the story more...Hmmm.

BTW, if the plan works I'll share it with you for next year
  18. Ok, so Stase has got Hoplite Erotica and Ben has the ENTIRE Purple Flower Joke.

I don't know which one I fear most.

Oh and DW, not a word before November the 1st or the guilt monkeys will get you. Alraedy had to tell FG off
  19. Having been there before, I'll pass on some tips

<ul type="square">[*]Get a whole array of food in. Treat yourself once you've got 2000 words.[*]Get a new book to write in, one of those big bags of pens, a highlighter and some index cards. Try not to get anything else as you'll constantly be buying.[*]Try and do more than 2,000 in the first week, store some extra as you will start to falter around week 3 [*]If you hit 'the wall', write about it, that tends to get ideas flowing.[*]Find one of the cheap books in your house and look how awful that is. You CAN write better.[*]Shampooing the cat, Cleaning the Toilet etc. CAN wait.[*]Save often if using a computer, they're rotten.[*]Let your family and friends know that you'll be less than available (Not hard for us MMORPG players)[*]And, directly from the NaNoWriMo book, write a cheque for 100 pounds to an organisation, like NC-Soft. If you don't reach 50,000, post it. [/list]
    Good luck all.

I'm going to sit in front of a blank screen and type.

I have no idea what's gonna happen

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's how I write. I just start from one cliche (It was a dark and stormy night....) and go from there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was a stark and dormy night. Boonlight done shown on the malcony. The ceroine oried tut into he light for her nove.

I must get that spellchecker running..

Entered last year. Slammed into a block after chapter 2. Got a plan this year.
  21. Iron Mongrel's backstory contains a quote that everyone who's tried to find out who he was has met with 'unfortunate accidents'.

That's a similar sort of thing, if you know them/researched them, then you can 'ignore' their reality, or worse, know the Truth about their reality.

Maybe Syra only 'thinks' she knocked a building down, DC are well known for 'click' "the last four pages never existed".
  22. One thing to remember is that no event happens in a vaccum. Knocking down a skyscraper will have BIG repercussions on the rest of your world. Never mind anyone elses.

[Corollary : It's your world. You can do anything in it. Any character above level 30 could output enough damage to level a skyscraper. The thing to look at is the after effects, which may change perceptions of you or your perception of yourself. Knocking over a building won't just cause rubble, but a dust cloud, emergency services, insurance, claims etc.

During a 'Super War', this may just be collateral damage, but it leads nicely to a hook of:
'You saved me' or 'You ruined me' for the next story. Once you KNOW you can do it, that's knowledge that will stay with you for a LONG time.]
  23. Put Tier 1 on Bodyguard.
Put Tier 2/3 on Kill All.
Stand on the otherside of a door or lift, out of LOS.

Take corpse home with you to stuff.
