A sidekick pet would probably be added to the agme at the same time as MM pet customization, as they'd be using the same basic tech for custom pet costumes.
The pets briefly outlined in that accidental slip of the incarnate first five slots (which went to normal test, not closed beta--so it's fair game to discuss here IMO) were all praetorian enemy group based: ie. a praetorian clockwork pet.

Honestly, this appeals very little to me as I tend to enjoy tight themes and concepts build-wise, especially when it comes to something as overtly aesthetic as a pet. But incarnate pet customization would be the bee's knees IMO if I could not only name my pet as MMs do, but select its power sets (or at least the aesthetics), modify the colors of said power sets and create a complete costume for my pet/npc sidekick using the CC.

And to make this wish list even MORE unlikely, would LOVE LOVE LOVE it if the costume of said hypothetical incarnate pet was tied to my costume slot, allowing me to customize that "sidekick's" appearance to match my character's varied looks.

    Greedy. I know.

Correct. And Thunderhead, which was released as intended with the pack, was briefly available on a few particular VEATs in their uniformed costume slot.

I'm finding these napkin notes extremely cryptic. Not sure what several of these items mean, particularly: "Animated (nearly) everything;" "New cuztomizable features;" and "City Of Sidekicks???"

    Event Fatigue

Back when the Alpha Slot was a part of GR CB, I recommended that this event eventually be couple to how they were working incarnate salvage at the time.

Issue 19 will give us a better idea of what's still on the same trajectory as then and what has changed drastically. BUT if they are still going to do some event based non-tradable incarnate salvage drops, I would consider rolling that into the rewards for 50s that help complete a banner event from start to finish.

    Guarantee this would improve participation.
  7. Be well and enjoy your time off.

Last break I had, a friend pointed me in the direction of a little indie game that is getting a big update on the 31st. Totally different from CoX. And it balanced out and filled some gaming needs and wants, refreshing CoX for me.

If you'd like I'll PM you the name. I'd consider it "recommended reading" for any avid PC gamer.

Either way have a great birthday tomorrow!
  8. Hey Noble Savage, if you're still reading, will any of these auras trail physics particles? Thinking about the leaves aura in particular.

Also just realized, upon looking at them a second time, that the leaves being birch leaf shaped (as opposed to the maple leaves that already drop from trees in the game), they may be abstract enough to pass as flower petals if recolored.

If this is a combat aura, I think I just found a new favorite for one of my stalker.

Think about it... flower petals blowing through the air just before the strike. A nice bit of melodrama methinks!

Yes, at the conclusion of a successful mission the standard rewards table pops up. Ergo, different members on the team can select different rewards after the same mission.
Only exception to this is if someone gets into the mission late. Since it is such a short mission, it is very easy to get the "not on the team long enough" notice upon completion. No prestige or xp for the completion nor any of the badges.
  10. Something that I've noticed is different this year:

In years past, duplicate costume power drops would cause an empty Treat drop--you get the Treat notice and no visible treat. Or, in the case of hybrid Treats (which don't appear to happen anymore), you'd get just an inspiration where you otherwise would have gotten an inspiration AND a unique costume temp power.

This year, instead, you get a Trick with baddies spawning whilst still getting credit towards the costume badges the second you click the door.

Took me a while to work through my alts to some that still did not have any or all of the costume drop badges from years prior.

I stand by my prior suggestion (this thread or elsewhere) for future halloween events to include a means to "buy our way" past mission gating with a set or three of halloween salvage. Something like the mission Tip drop--which seems to be scaled well for new characters with none of the event badges--can be frustrating when working through and badging old characters. Personally, I find this speed bump is part of what can contribute to the "event fatigue" described on another thread. Especially since the mission itself takes a few minutes per run in most cases. I would have loved to have whizzed through all my five and six year old characters in one night and then focused on other aspects of the event with new characters.

Yes, yes I know it was my CHOICE to spend the first three days of the event just badging old 50's. Either way, the speed bump to these missions for old characters seemed quite superfluous IMO. Should not have taken several hours per old 50 to get these five quick mission runs.

That being said, on a newer character, with lots to do, the event has been fun and relatively well balanced thus far. My only secondary beef is that the halloween mobs may have been buffed a bit too much for lowbies. Not sure if there is a way to scale them down when they spawn for teams levels 25 and under.

The new booster being released on the 3rd tells me not likely. My guess? Booster first. Then i19 two weeks later.
  12. If the current rate of Tip drops that many are reporting seeing is WAI, please consider an additional means to get tips next year. This year is resulting in an abundance of costume salvage for me. More than I'll ever actually use at this point. Perhaps we could turn in 4 or 8 bits of costume salvage for the mission tip as well?

AFAIK, that is working as intended. It is meant to be an alternate means of unlocking the witches cap and makes it so Villains don't need to go rogue to do so.
  14. The tip drop rate is a tad low IMO. There is clearly no cool down as I did get a tip on my first knock right after completing a Halloween tip mission. So it is definitely a random rate thing happening.

Working on a well-oiled team of 4-5 heroes, where folks would shout "TIP" the second they got one and all door knocking would cease AND we wouldn't let ourselves get distracted with any of the other invasion events, it still was taking 1.5+ hours to get all five badges on any given character.

Finished the night on a team of four heroes where we knocked from 12:10 am till 1:30 am till we collectively saw our first tip.

Random may be random. But for folks like myself hoping to badge on dozens of characters, this rate is a bit too low for enjoyment. I've now completed the tip accolade on four different heroes on live, all level 50 and each one has taken longer than 1.5 hours a piece. The one I did solo for three of the five badges took nearly 3 hours total.

So yeah, based on my experiences thus far, something feels pretty off. Similar to how off the ghost spawns were a couple Halloweens ago.
  15. Enjoying the new tip mission. My one beef is that the drop rate seems a bit on the low side if someone (like myself) feels the compulsion to badge an entire stable of characters. Did some timed tests today.

On a full to near full team, took about 1.5 hours to get all the badges on one character. Solo it's taking about 2-2.5 hours and this is with playing knock-knock-runaway. The speed bump in both cases is the odd drop rate. And I can confirm no invisible cool down as on my solo run I got lucky with a tip on the first knock AFTER completing a Halloween tip mission.

On the plus side, Halloween salvage dropping from defeating tricks. The spawn curve makes more sense. As does spawn consolidation with multiple nearby doors all coming out of one door instead of six different doors. All very nice bits of polish. Costume and salvage rate seems quite good too! (Though I've not gotten nor seen any of the rumored "new" costumes added to this years bevy of temporary costume powers.)

All in all, B+ from me devs. I'm enjoying myself thoroughly this far. Though in six days I may loathe the tip mission as much as I do Snaptooth!
  16. As far as the halloween event goes this year, anyone know if you need to have an open tip slot to receive the tip? Or did they have foresight when designing the tip system to allow a special slot for event tips?
  17. I was wondering if this might be halloween going live. Do we have any confirmation? Or like in some years previous, we'll just need to log in and see if the eternal night of halloween is in effect?

Far more important than capes.

Yes, I know about Flies and Combat auras, but even with them, we need to add more. Many more. Our auras are lacking.
I think the one thing they could have done to push this entirely into the "worth it for $10" unquestionably is also include a new face mask for each origin. You know, those "eye details" that are included only on full masks?

Like auras, these are wanting. (or maybe I'm just wanting?) AND this time, instead of restricting said details to full masks only, they could be available in "masks with hair" and standard set ups.

Quick suggestions (and think of these ALL as Zorro and masquerade style eye masks that stand off from the character models face):
    • Nature - a ring of leaves, arranged in a cat eye mask
    • Science - a slightly asymmetric atomic mask, with a more simplified and iconic take on the Bohr atom model
    • Tech - masquerade mask made of the silhouettes of two gears (maybe a third up and away for asymmetry?)
    • Magic - an ornate eye mask, scalloped similarly to the cape in this set
    • Mutant - an eye mask shaped like a slimy splat or ink splotch

EDIT: Just to be clear, I personally was sold hands down before the video was through on this one. The masquerade masks above are suggestions to help round out the pack for those on the fence about the value in this pack.

If any of the artists are reading, I want to repeat a suggestion that made in one of the ATArt threads:

Try doing some experiments with reflective ultramode particle planes in auras and just see what comes of it. See what kind of trippy higher dimensional mind blowing weirdness can come from it. Then work backward as needed to approximate whatever novel look the UM auras create in non-UM mode.

-Half the trees in Paragon drop leaves. I doubt it was much work make the particle effect emmit from the character and stick it in a menu.
The tarot card model may be the same but the animation is new. Those look like birch leaves, different from the usual oak leaf particles that trees drop. Can't tell if it is a different animation or not. If the leaves actually stay on the ground as physics particles, that is entirely new tech and bodes well for some future ground/feet based auras I'd love to see.

Steam jets I'll give you, but I don't care since I've been requesting those ever since they didn't come with the tech pack way back but only as a part of the self destruct power.

Oh and these are all colorable. If Fireflies and Snow are any indication, they'll be like the Alpha and Omega Auras with each one coming with a full range of body locations and combat and non-combat settings.

Cut and paste or not, all those options with many uses on existing characters in mind, I'll be happy to get this one. YMMV
  22. I'm on board for this one. It's got several auras I've long wanted and requested. And best of all, they look good to boot!

Thanks in advance already for the:
    • Leaves
    • Toxic Vapors
    • Steam Jets
    • Atomic Aura
    • Tarot Cards

The first four I've oft requested. The fifth is something I'd never thought to request but can absolutely use on a new villain I finally was able to roll up post GR: Midnight Gambler, my DP/Dark haunted gunslinger character. Camped that name for years after being inspired by the original Tarot Card power way way back.

And I really like the Science, Nature and Tech capes. Need to see the Magic and Mutant ones in game to decide on those.

Good work on this pack. I'm pleased and even a little bit excited.

    3) At least 1 updated legacy set, or 2-3 parts

Now, dependent upon the scope/scale of #9, I can definitely see dropping some of the above items due to resource requirements, but I think this is a good "give everybody a little something" formula.

Please note: I have no idea how feasible the above list is from a time/resource perspective. This is an "in an ideal situation" list.
I agree very much with the spirit of this list. Variety is key to making issues that make me want to keep coming back.

I've highlighted the mention of costuming, because I feel that either the devs or marketing have been missing the mark by not including costume parts with every release.

I think that developers and marketing, when they sit down and discuss such things, should not underestimate the power of a few free costume items per issue.

I know many people who have resubscribed or continued subscribing till the next issue because such and such small costume bit would help perfect the look of one alt or another. Just the promise of this further perfection reinvigorates enthusiasm for playing the game and polishing our characters in anticipation of said release.

Perhaps the above sounds like a junkie fiending for the next methadone treatment. But so what, business is business I suppose. A trickle of free costume bits (alongside booster pack premium costumes) keeps the natives happy and paying.

    Totally agree with this sentiment.

But I can't help but imagine how puzzled spectators from outside the veteran player base will be when, if ever, we finally get back items. The collective cheer and fanfare will likely lead one to believe that the Berlin wall just fell!

But yes, back items should be the a top priority in terms of costume related systems implementation. Should have been 3 years ago IMO.
  25. I'm having some trouble getting screenshots while in the CC. If anyone is able to take some screenies, I'm looking for six shots, two of each model (male, female and huge) in plain white tights, white bald head on a medium toned CC background, a front facing and a backside image. I want to use these to create some mockups of suggestions for new skins for the CC.

Short story long, I've compressed my physical desktop down to one monitor, mouse and keyboard and am using a KBM to toggle between a PC for entertainment/writing/bookkeeping and a Mac for editing/graphics production. I'm using a mac keyboard. And the F13 button for some reason does not register as a print screen button. Additionally, other than PC paint, I currently have no graphics software on this Win 7 machine. So I'll be doing all my work on the mac.

So anyways, turning to you folks out here in the community to see if anyone would be willing to help me out and shoot the six screens as described above. I'm just after the character models in a neutral setting from head to toe so I can do some masking and play with some ideas. Linking to the images or embedding them in your post should be sufficient enough as I will just grab the jpegs that way.

I promise to post results when ready! Thanks in advance to whomever can help!
