From what we're seeing here (we still haven't seen how leaps and backflips look) and what we know of its stats (ninja run speeds) the base animation seems a bit more stretched out than the other game's base beast run, but not as extreme as the sprint's constant-leaping. We'll be able to judge better once all this is visible.
And the demo record hack videos also seem to be missing several key intersequence frames for things like turning around, shifting to sideways movement and maybe even a prep frame or two before attacks. Ninja Run is impressively seamless in its final form. Hoping Beast Run will feel equally seamless.

Can't speak for the dissenting opinion stated above, but I'm guessing if some folks are on the fence or even critical of the current peeks and Beast Run, it's because of these missing animation elements as well as the leaping ones you've pointed out.

and not to mention another AWESOME alternate travel power! so this x10.
  3. Yup. Yasi is one of the largest storms to ever make landfall in modern history. Been watching this one from afar.

Godspeed to all you northern Queenslanders.

It would be a bold move on the part of Paragon, but a total facelift might really pay off. Anyways, like I said, I have my own growing suspicions with the inclusion of Ryan Roth on the panel. Just don't want to wish too hard for a pony... too easy to get disappointed!

Don't know if it will be all that, but I do have compounding suspicions regarding the super sekrit signed NDA beta i20 business based on the panel inclusions. Thinking the Senior Environment Artist wasn't just a random grab from their bullpen for this one. And the timing is right for some initial i20 images.

Also, the timing seems a little bit late based on how much info is already available regarding the beastly super booster. Thinking that will hit the NC store sometime mid February.

As far as I know because it is the most recent driver that resolves the contact crash issue. Which I'm still having, since I cannot rollback.

This has stuck in my brain in terms of what other direct clones (power spec wise) would work or might be missing.

The only one I can come up with is [bionic run]. Think how the liquid metal terminator in T2 and the female terminator in T3 both sprint, with their knife hands and knees riding high. The idle could be a sort of twitchy alert head cocking. And jumping more of a long hurdle/slow running through the air like someone out of the matrix.

    Just a thought.
  8. Update to my situation: Got brave and opened the contact menu of all my other villains. Only those that are level 25+ are freezing out. They have all the contacts at that level range in Sharkshead unlocked, including the hidden ones.

Also can confirm that the texture on the bulldozers is not registering for me redside. This seems to coincide with when I got hit by this driver related freeze on the contact menu.

Well ninja run is silent save for a unique set of "whoosh whoosh whoosh" sekrit ninja sounds.

So I expect something, though I hope the growling is kept out so we can also use this run for Daredevil type vigilantes as well. Looks quite fitting for that IMO.

Edit: also curious to see not only what the leap looks like but what the backwards leap looks like. That particular aspect of ninja run sold me.

2nd Edit: so in anticipating the release of this, anyone who is really good with binds able to write me one for a travel power key that rotates or randomly selects between either beast run or ninja run? might be GREAT for the classic rooftop vigilante I'm starting to cook up.

(Of course on the internet there's always someone, somewhere into anything you can imagine as well as everything that you'd rather not...)
Curious to see how it will work with weapons out and shields. [Ninja Run] really shines with these options. I have a monstrous mutant, Sludgemouth, who wields a big manhole cover. This may be the run for him.

Also have some rooftop raider types that may look better with BR than NR.

Awesome. Very happy. Very very very happy. Sold on this pack already.

That would kinda make sense, wouldn´t it?
Ahhhhhhhh... thanks. A weapons based character. Yup. Brain is fixed. Move along. Nothing to see here.

Oh wait, that's the current wolf head on live.

Edit: Jokes aside, looking at the full sized image and trying to figure out what is going on with the costume creator.

Does development use a slightly different interface? Clearly 7 bars there in the right hand side where we have six.

Based on the length of the words corresponding to what we have on live, from top to bottom, those cc categories are:

Going to tackle the usual culprits - the machine's well maintained, drivers fairly recent and working fine but I'll look there anyway, just has not done this before, period.
There are a couple other threads about this. Current ATI drivers sound to be the culprit. The advice is to rollback to 10.9 drivers. Sadly, for some (me included), rolling back is not feasible since the new drivers fixed other issues that take precedence over CoX. So till Paragon gets their own fix out, I've got a good handful of now unplayable redside characters. *frown*

How and when are you crashing? There are some known issues going on, one in particular with lastest video drivers combined with certain redside contacts causing villains to crash when you open the contact list. So have any details on what type of characters and how and when they are crashing?

As per this thread, it's currently listed as the fourth slot:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=250712

But in my mind, everything between hitting 50 and closing with the Omega slot (or whatever we are portrayed as being in that first mission of the Alpha slot) is penultimate. For me the incarnate stuff feels like the closing of the arch just before the capstone.

So yeah, semantically speaking, while it may not be penultimate when compared to say the Mind slot, compared to pretty much everything else in game, you're almost ready to rule the cosmos.
  21. *pokes NC marketing*

A new teaser image for the weekend?

    Pretty please?
  22. I've been thinking a lot about the coming Incarnate Lore Slot.

My Fears: A part of me fears it is going to be executed pretty much as was leaked back during GoRo closed beta (but leaked briefly to the open test server)--essentially a praetorian faction based pet that gets modified along the lines of the six Lore enhancements already found in game. (i.e. get your very own Praetorian Clockwork pet and buff it via your incarnate slot.) Sadly, a Shivan by any other name...

My Hopes: I'm hoping that this system has been seriously rethought by the current super sekrit endgame team. IMO, all our incarnate powers should be highly customizable when they impact our character in any way that is visible. This is THE penultimate stage of development for our MOST POWERFUL characters, right? IMO, going from highly individualized and customized powers to uber endgame powers that have at best a half dozen cookie cutter appearances feels like a step backwards.

Pet Customization: I have deep hopes that the Lore pet (from here on out to be called a Sidekick (not to be confused with SSK, but more in line with the classic comic book concept of a sidekick)) will be fully customizable in appearance, power appearance and even movement style.

I'd be fine if their powers all did the same damage type if need be for balance. But I'd love to be able to choose whether it looked like my sidekick was wielding fire or ice or conventional weapons. I'd love to be able to choose the body type and size of my sidekick, taking full advantage of our extensive costume creator to dress him/her/it in a fitting manner that complements my character's look and concept. (Giant companion protector robot, girl-wonder, pouncing cat boy, a shadow of the main character, etc.)

Though, like MM pets any sidekick should have some version of super jump running that allows them to always keep up, one more pull down should be added to the character creator allowing us to declare the movement style our sidekick will use: standard, hover, ninja-run (if you have the martial arts pack), or beastly run (if as some of us are hoping that comes with the next booster).

Lastly, we should be able to name our sidekick just as any MM pet can be named. And maybe be able to provide them with a brief bio description.

Additionally, all this tech would likely also then permit some significant degree of MM pet customization and hopefully both could be released at the same time or near the same time.

Unlocking the Sidekick: Though our sidekick may become a force to be reckoned with once we slot third and fourth tier Lore enhancements, the sidekick itself IMO should be unlocked via an arc available at level 40. Over the last 10 levels of advancement, the duration would increase by one minute and the cool down for calling the sidekick would halve each level. So perhaps at level 40, you can call your new side kick once every 24 hours for 1 minute. At 41, once every 12 hours for 2 minutes, etc. Unlocking the Lore slot would basically perma your sidekick. And the Lore enhancements would then buff it according to the information that has already leaked.

    ***

So, much like Moo's thread outlining his wild and crazy fantasies for the animal booster pack, the above are mine in rough for how the Lore slot would ideally work into the game. Sadly, my more realistic expectations are much lower. But I really am not that excited about another cookie cutter recycled mob pet for this endgame power.
  23. So I've tried reducing my graphics settings and tried several resolutions. None of these options get the characters to work.

The two characters in question crashed when I opened the contacts menu. They are now logged in the servers as having their contact menus open, so when I log in, they are still open--so these two characters have become effectively unplayable until a fix is available. (As stated in my prior post, I will not be rolling back my drivers as they were needed for other software related issues.)

The two characters in question are level 25+. As I now play with xp off at each level interval to do all the legacy content, they have ALL the contacts in their list between their inactive and active, including ones requiring badges to unlock. So can't provide a list that narrows down if it is any specific contact.

I've not opened the contact list now on any of my other villains for fear of making them effectively unplayable now too.

This stinks. I hope a fix is forthcoming and soon.
  24. This is happening now to me as well. Redside characters, level 25+. Won't be rolling back my drivers as that is also not an option for me due to other software.

Edit to add: textures on bulldozers redside seem to have gone missing as well. not sure if this is at all related.

Speaking of which, I have in the past been an advocate for alternate melee animations that permit head goring and butting. This might be the perfect pack for a small sprinkling of a couple great power customization animations.
