*shrug* I clarified my position but apparently need to do so again.
Things I do not think Empathy is:
- A simplistic set
- Easy to play well
- "for girls" Seriously, I don't even know what the hell that's about
- Far more easy to play well than other support sets
What I do think Empathy is:
- Easier to play well than other support sets
That's it. That's all I said. I think FF is even easier to play well, if any FF enthusiasts want to jump down my throat too.
I didn't specify on some kind of arbitrary scale how much easier Emp is or how difficult individual powers are to use because I don't think it's meaningful.
I broke down support into the roles that you have to fill. I think sets that have an offensive and defensive role have an additional dimension to work with compared to sets that are purely defensive. I think that adds complexity.
I'm happy to agree to disagree on whether or not Emp is easier to play well than other sets, but I don't like what I said being misrepresented, blown out of proportion or totally misunderstood.
Although for the record (cough New Dawncough) I do not currently have a level 50 Emp Defender so feel free to disregard my opinion because I just don't get it, man
If/when Corrs get Empathy (i.e never :C ) I'll make an Emp. -
Playing an Emp well requires that you a) know how to use your buffs well, b) maintain situational awareness and c)contribute damage via blasting
Playing most other sets well (basically any set more balanced with offensive/defensive powers requires a) knowing how to use your buffs well b) knowing how to use your offensive powers well, c) maintaining situational awareness and d) contributing damage via blasting.
Yes, Emp has more ally buffs than say Thermal or Cold but if you boil it down to its constituent parts, more balanced sets are more complex to play well.
Mind you, I'm not saying zomg emp is teh EZmode and all other support sets are 4 PROS ONLY. Just, you know, Emp is easier to play well. -
I personally prefer powers like SoW/OWtS/RoA/FA/SC/LR compared to 'traditional' nukes and godmodes.
What I love about this game is the dynamism and I feel weaker, less punitive powers are more conducive to that than more powerful, hard crashing powers.
Especially since you don't generally need the absurd levels of survivability/damage that the traditional tier9s give. If SoW can give me the toughness I need to survive a given fight, (which it can), why would I prefer Unstoppable?
Superfluous extra dmg/survivability paid for in harsher penalties is a bad deal. I much prefer the direction taken by newer sets like WP/DP/SD. -
It's cool you guys, SD is balanced because IOs are expensive.
SD being great even on SOs is just like, whatever, man. -

The reason is that catgirls are super kawaii desu~~~

Powers like Unstoppable that have a 1000s recharge and 180s duration are impossible to perma because of the recharge cap (500%)
Even ignoring animation times, at the recharge cap Unstoppable will recharge in 200 seconds (1000/5) so you'll have 20s downtime.
And the fact that maintaining recharge cap solo is functionally impossible, it's only really possible in teams with Kins/Emps. With high global recharge, Force of Nature/whatever the lolhero version is called and the FFB proc going off you can briefly cap your recharge, but only for a few seconds.
Basically, if you want to see if a power is perma-able, divide the recharge by 5 and compare it to the duration. Hastens 450s divided by 5 is 90, Hastens duration is 120, very doable. Build-Ups 90s divided by 5 is 18, duration is 10, not happening. Dull Pain/Earth's Embrace have a 360s recharge, divided by 5 is 72, they have a 120s duration so very doable.
Just bear in mind that this is only a rough method for finding out if its mechanically feasible. Realistic amounts of high recharge for any given build will be about 90-150 plus another 70% from Hasten.
Speaking of the FFB proc, its worth bearing in mind that while its +100% rech, it averages out to about +5-10%. -
I only managed to read the first third.
Ow, man, ow. -
Assault + Maneuvers. Stacks nicely with the ones in your secondary and provide even more team buffing. The end cost isn't too bad thanks to Conditioning, just get good end redux slotted.
As for recharge, well, more recharge always helps. You don't need a huge amount though. I'd say get enough to get the attack chain you want. You don't need permaHasten levels of recharge unless you want it -
I came to Champion because my friend who introduced me to the game was here. I think he chose it because it was first alphabetically

Quote:I can't wait to try out my SS/FA Brute with a Kin when GR hits liveOh, but it doesn't add +Damage. It boosts the damage numbers of your powers. Where powers such as Build Up, Against All Odds, and etc. bring nothing to a character that is Damage capped, Fiery Embrace will actually allow you to do even more damage if you're Damage capped.
-
Ehm, while that is an impressive amount of recovery, Emp Defenders really aren't that heavy on end use.
Focus primarily on +recharge. That'll give you the most uptime on your important buffs like AB and the auras (one of which will help your recovery) as well as letting you put Fort on as many teammates as you can.
Getting +hp or ranged defense can also help you be more survivable. -

You're more than welcome to run your experiment that way, just don't expect it to have much credibility.
While I understand any reluctance to start over again just to take more screenshots with the market interface and the rest of it, it doesn't prove anything to just say "I sold x for y inf".
It's not a question of calling you a liar, (or at least imo it shouldn't be), it's just a question of requiring sufficient proof to justify your claims. If you want to document how long it took you to reach 1b just farming and selling drops for reasonable* amounts, then you've gotta show how much you're selling things for.
If you're not willing to start over, (which again, I understand), you can at least continue the experiment with more documentation.
*not getting into this -
No, it was originally tested on just Tankers then spread to Scrappers and Brutes once it was determined it wasn't ZOMGBROKED.
When it goes live all 3 ATs will get the FE, Burn and Consume changes.
Blasters get the Consume and Burn changes but Doms keep the old FE. -
Didn't someone change iBuds global to Pink Fluffy Bunnies or something a while back?
-
Since the difference in the shield strength isn't that noticeable imo, I'd say it comes down to two factors.
How much of a factor is Cold being a late bloomer, (even moreso on a Corr), for you?
Which inherent do you prefer? -
Honestly, none of them. Defender APPs are fairly meh compared to being able to softcap s/l. Defense shields >>> resistance shields on squishies.
PBU is nice but nothing amazing. Psy Mastery pool is good for cheap set mules I suppose.
I was really hoping for an Ice Mastery pool (Frozen Armor + Hoarfrost, do want). -
Quote:Perhaps I should clarify.I don't think they'll be handing out character rename tokens, rather, they're handing out global rename tokens.
Hypothetical example: one night you come home drunk and decide to change your global handle to "Poopoo Plader". The next morning, in addition to the hangover you have this sinking feeling you did something you shouldn't have. Thankfully, that was the night of the 16th and today being the 17th you can change your global handle back.
They're not giving out free rename tokens or free global rename tokens. They're giving out free server transfers, which you can use to rename a character for free using the method Horus outlined.
Edit: although they may also be giving out global rename tokens too, but I dunno about that. -

Since new PvP is basically all about damagedamagedamage and most support is now lol, Blasters > Corrs.
