You thought I was referring purely to offensive power when in my first response I made two points and one of them was about FAs relative squishiness?

    Okay.
  2. Can't send a Hero or Villain to praetoria yet unless they were made there, I believe. Praetoria is closed to CoH/CoV characters for the time being.

The tips/morality mission system is for turning your hero into a vigilante/villain or villain into a rogue/hero. Snow Globe has a guide which explains it here

    Yup, this.

FF on the ball about their buffs = good FF

FF on the ball about their buffs and good with their KB = excellent FF
  4. how do switch sides????

Heh, I logged on last night when servers came up. Hopped on my SS/FA, respecced him into Blaze Mastery. Overwrote an Unbreakable Hold/Rech when slotting Char, lol'd and went to test Burn and FE.

    Was pleased with results.

Evening a success, went to bed.

Then toss in the reactive nature of healing, which further splits the players attention. I think it's fair to say that buffing/healing requires attention on par with buffing/debuffing.
Okay, what about buffing/debuffing and healing like a Thermal, Pain, Dark or Kin?

Admittedly, Kin and Dark less so as healing teammates is relatively low on their priority list but its still part of playing them well.
  6. Glad you liked them .

Once I've got more free time I'm gonna be going back over all the older guides again to add/tweak them.

First to get revised will probably be Thermal because I've since rerolled my Thermal. Then Pain because I'm really not happy with that guide.
  7. Wouldn't all of these be better condensed into one thread rather than several?

Read these forums more, play the market. Playing the market will net you far, far more than killing hordes and hordes of stuff ever will.

I'm under the impression Nethergoat does both because he enjoys both playing the market and gunning down NPCs.

Regardless, it's good he used the example of an AR/Dev because it's hardly a superzomgleet farming machine so much as just a 'normal' character. Handy to illustrate the stuff-generating abilities of a non-minmaxed farm character.

You can generate plenty of stuff plenty fast with a Dark/Dark Corr. Set your difficulty to +0/+1 x4 or more. Apply debuffs, spam TT/Nightfall to melt them.

    My SS/FA brute

SS/FA gets a lot of survivability from KDing everything every 5-7 seconds. While the res numbers on FA look pretty weak, don't underestimate the effect of high recharge on Healing Flames.

Being able to get half your health back every 15 seconds is pretty great, especially combined with the breathing room Footstomp gives you. That, combined with how fast a SS/FA kills, is what makes SS/FA stay on its feet.
  10. Ya been doing some reading and I was totally off base. My bad, Infernose.

You want Shadow Meld, not Hibernoob for pvp because as Santorican said, Hibernoob is an invitation to get AS'd.

  12. Question: what secondaries would go really well with KM? Looking at the numbers and from what I read in CB, KM will be beastly when IOd out.

If I can ever talk myself into not thinking CS looks really, really silly, I'd want to make a KM Scrapper.

I was tentatively thinking /SD for +damage stacking and a big AoE to throw out when I've got PS maxed out for insane damage. I've got very little experience with /SD builds though, is it feasible to softcap a KM/SD while still getting permaHasten levels of recharge? /FA would go well too, but it's a little squishy for my tastes and I've already got a SS/FA Brute.

    Ideas/recommendations/scorn?
  13. I'd recommend Sonic. It's an incredibly good set for soloing with the cone sleep and -resistance on all the blasts to soften up bosses. It's also very endurance efficient which helps a lot with Storm being so end-heavy.

I dunno about fun factor though, I personally love Sonic mechanically but find it dull as ditchwater to play. I'd try it up to level 4 so you've got both Shriek and Scream and see what you think of it since those are basically your main attacks. Shout is also there but much later in the set and really, really slow so you're better off spamming Shriek/Scream. There is the sound of it too, which puts some people off but again, a highly personal thing so you'd have to see for yourself.

Seconding the Dark suggestion. Damage is on the lower side but it provides a lot of utility (most notably the self-heal) and it's fairly good for endurance too. It being low on damage isn't such a big deal considering Storm has damage in boatloads.

If you want more general help for /Storm I've got a guide for it in my sig (and other Corr sets too) if you're interested

Seriously, ALL even conned minions and LTs dead within approximately two seconds is just awe-inspiring. My only gripe with the set now is the recharge/duration of Fiery Embrace; tweak that and I'll never say another bad thing about FA/ again...hopefully.

I've been waiting almost 12 long issues to say this...BURN IS BACK!
Oh, don't get me wrong. I love the changes and am very happy with them.

I was just contesting the assertion that FA is somehow broken again.
  15. I'm afraid I can't post exact numbers as I don't have access to Mids or the game at the moment.

However, FA was broken because you could herd entire maps, Burn didn't have a target cap, stuff stacked so you could fit aforementioned entire maps into its radius, you could have multiple Burn patches out and ED and GDN weren't in place so FA was tough enough to tank all those mobs while they melted.

SD is tougher on SOs (especially on Tankers) because with basic slotting you can get 1 small purple insp away from the softcap for all 3 positions. No single inspiration brings a FA tank to 90% mitigation of almost all incoming damage. Add into that the nature of defense means all the debuffs attached to various attacks miss the SD tanker, whereas the FA will get hit for less but have to take all the debuffs on the chin.

With IOs, you can softcap to all three positions all the time and the numbers have already been done (by Frosticus in the Scrapper forums, I believe) to show that SC far outdamages BA and/or Burn. In fact, IIRC he showed SC outdamaged them even if he worked with unrealistic assumptions like BA always hitting its target cap of foes.

AAO and SC are just that good.

WP, SD and DA all attest to how powerful layered defenses are. Pure resists and a big heal just isn't as tough as defenses, +hp and +resists. Plus the mitigation in KDing an entire spawn with SC.

I can give you numbers once I've got access to Mids again. Where are your numbers to back up your original statement? I would love to be proven wrong on this, I'd feel a lot better about my /FA Brute
  16. ^ What he said.

Fire/Kin works great on SOs, even better with IOs. Farms fast and easily, teams well due to /Kin buffs.
  17. 1: Even if we take it as read that FA is now broken, it's nowhere near as broken as it was.

2: The set is still squishier and brings less offensive power than the other 'offensive' set, namely SD.

    So...GR today?

Got in briefly before I had to head to bed. Respecced my SS/Fire into Fire Mastery. Fireball, NewFE and FixedBurn feels good man.

Honestly a little relieved I'm working all this week. Gives things a chance to settle down.

Also Concentrated Strike looks so silly but KM built right will be so damn good for Scrappers. Someone talk me through CS.

  23. False. Respawn times make this pretty much impossible even if you got the zone caps worth of people inside.

Plus, if something like this were true it'd be on the Wiki.
  24. Ston3y is stepping down from the Mids team aaaand i18-ready Mids is live.
