  1. Names actually appear to be locked to an account for a short while after deletion. I held onto a name for a friend a couple weeks back and they were getting the character name in use error message even after I deleted the character. I however could still make a character with the name.

After a while the name freed up however, not sure how long it was. My guess is a couple hours.

But um, gl with your sale?
  2. I think the only attacks that are pure psy without a positional tag or other damage type are Dominate, Terrify and Mesmerize. Of those three, Terrify does trivial damage and the other two don't hit that hard either.

Building to fill the psy hole is, as others have said, not necessary and often a bad idea. Purples and Dull Pain/Healing Flames are all you need.
  3. Grausigkeit, I've not played Beam Rifle myself but it seems like a pretty good set. What turns me off it personally is the redraw.

The disintegration mechanic is really cool and I can see it synergizing nicely with a couple sets. I don't think I'd rank it above Fire, because pretty much nothing beats Fire even today. That said, looking at the numbers again it looks like a decent all round set.

My one recommendation would be that you pair it with something that won't cause a lot of issues with the redraw. Something that's a little more fire-and-forget if you know what I mean. Not like Kinetics or Time. Something like Traps would work well, (which also fits thematically), where you can enter a fight, lay down your main powers then get to blasting.

It also seems like Beam Rifle is very much a ranged powerset. I know, I know, all Corr primaries are ranged, but some (Rad, Fire, Ice) can be played with all their key powers from melee range so they suit powersets with PBAoE powers a bit better. With Beam Rifle, I think you'd want to get a lot of use out of the cones so you'd be at range most of the time.

Lil Demona, Thanks for the kind words Glad to hear you're enjoying your Fire/Dark Corruptor.

All mezzes have target caps, just like Tanker AoEs and Taunt. Unlike Tanker AoEs and Taunt, most have incredibly long recharge times so they can't be spammed to catch whatever the first cast didn't hit. I personally think it's a little silly that Taunt has such a small target cap, but that doesn't stop bad Tankers from opening with it so I suppose its largely moot.

The second point also arguably holds for Controllers too. While you can hit a spawn with your AoE hold and then your AoE stun, they're still out of the fight. You've just wasted your AoE stun. That is an advantage to mezzing ATs like Dominators and Controllers, since they can control spawns over their aggro cap if they use their powers well. AoE hold first spawn, AoE stun+immob (or KD/sleep/confuse/whatever) another spawn. To that end, I think Tankers having a larger aggro cap wouldn't be amiss.

If Tankers are going to get a buff, I think it should be towards making them somehow more Tanky. I know I rant and rave about Tankers being far too tough, but still. If you want to be pretty tough and deal damage, make a Brute. There's no need to make Tankers deal more damage. I see this thing about Tankers not being like their comicbook counterparts all the time and while nice, it can't work that way because MMOs need to be somewhat balanced.

If you can have the toughness of a Tanker and the damage of a Brute/Scrapper, why would you ever make a Brute or Scrapper? If you want to be utterly invulnerable as well as a god of death, go play a singleplayer RPG. I hear there's at least a couple.

Which goes back to some people just wanting Tankers to deal more damage while maintaining their toughness. Or are primadonnas and want the team to revolve around them and their part in the holy trinity.

Great news, when will you start learning how to play them?

  9. Hey, stuff dies in this video!

In all seriousness, gj on another solid video. I do think in some ways it's preaching to the choir though. Most people on the forums already know DA is good on SOs alone. With IOs, it can be incredible. If someone still maintains that DA is the worstest and can't do anything right, it's unlikely any video or guide is going to change their minds.

Planing to make one with fire, but it is hard to decide between defender and corruptor (get buffs/debuffs earlier, or have extra damage). It was much easier when only corruptors had fire as option .
Don't worry, I'm working on it. Not as close to done as I'd like to be, but have been crazy busy with work/travel/health.

If you want to make a Time Manip character with Fire, I'd go with the Corruptor. I know I'm biased and all, but Time Manipulation ensures you can keep mobs in RoF, which does much more damage for Corruptors. Since with PB Farsight you can still get softcapped defenses to all three positions the Defender has less of an advantage. In fairness to the opposition, a sizeable advantage Defenders have is that they need far less in terms of IOing to hit the softcap, meaning you can softcap on a much smaller budget and build more for other things like +hp/recharge/recovery.

It's like knowing how to swim. All babies are a little bit Silas, but the vast majority forget and must relearn it. Si, by virtue of her name and the fire blasting, is already closer than most

    In seriousness:
    • Write guides for all support sets
    • t3 Incarnate out all my main dudes
    • Kit out my solo SG base
    • Get seen rollin', get hated

I dunno, I'll give it some thought and try to come up with some more.

  15. In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
    In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow

  16. That homogeneity is contingent upon every single person taking the option to turn their KB off. This thread alone demonstrates that not everyone will.

Nihilii is the only one who's had the guts to admit that the reason he wants the option is because it would be a huge buff for several specific sets. In particular, overnight SS/FA would be completely displaced by Claws/FA as the farmer of choice. I guess I can see why people want that, claws is a lot nicer looking than SS and really rage is just a pain, but the dishonesty on display here is something else.
Oh, for the record I agree that being able to turn KB into KD would be a huge buff to certain sets of powers. Particularly SS and Claws.

It just seems there is a disconnect between KB is a good thing, provides good mitigation, useful tool etc etc, but it's a balancing factor preventing certain powers/power sets from being overpowered. Which would imply its a 'bad' thing, so to speak, like balancing a high damage attack with high recharge or endurance cost.
  18. The funny thing is, if a set or power with KB is balanced now and would be overpowered if it were changed to KD, that means the inconvenience of KB is a balancing tool. That is to say, undesirable.

I thought KB was supposed to be a good thing according to those who are against the option to turn off KB?
  19. As others have said, it's a solid middle of the road set. If the aesthetics of the set appeal to you and you don't mind redraw, you'll have fun with it.
  20. So far only one person has confirmed they're attending, so I'm afraid I'm gonna call it off.

A big shame, but I know now that NYC might not have been the best choice of venue due to how insanely expensive lodgings are and I admit I've not been super on the ball about organizing this. Lessons learned.

Thanks for the interest everyone, would have been cool but so it goes. My apologies.

Wait, what? Defenders should need far less than 32.7% defense to softcap with PBed Farsight. For Corruptors you generally need 22-23% defense to whatever type/vector to softcap with PBed Farsight.

The way I work it out is find out how much defense you're getting from slotted and PBed Farsight (slot Farsight, turn PB on, check the defense value in the power info) then subtract that from 45.

Whatever number you get is how much defense your other stuff needs to give you without PB turned on.

So if PBed Farsight gives you 22% defense, you need 23% defense to all from your toggles/bonuses without PB active to be softcapped. Defender PBed Farsight is about 32% defense, so you only need about 13% defense.
  22. Everyone who likes KB is bad and can't play the game, everyone who doesn't like KB is bad and can't play the game.

AoE attacks do more damage to groups than a ST one? Imagine my surprise.

Fireball and Firebreath do boatloads more damage to groups than Blaze does. I still wouldn't skip Blaze.
