"They're so attractive, I wish they'd do porn" is a special kind of compliment.

Either one is a pretty solid choice. You can also get a moderate amount of s/l or ranged defense (32%) and go with Dark Mastery to still get all the tricks in there. A small purple or most of your tohit debuffs will effectively softcap you.
Definitely get decent recharge and recovery though. -
I once flipped a man in Reno, just to watch casuals cry.

I think its adorable that 12th graders think a petition is going to make a difference.
Having watched a few of the videos, I'm with FlamingIntern on this one. They're super, super dumb. If what he says to say is this insipid and moronic, perhaps its no great tragedy he can't say it.
Besides, he can still say it. His videos are still up. If he'd rather keep up his videos than go to school, it's his problem when he gets suspended.
Martin Luther King he ain't. I don't really get why the school called the police though, not sure what they hoped to achieve with that. -
Quote:um hands down that would be a blaster with better survivability and better damage.
Not only can you still attack when you are held or stunned or put to sleep as a blaster but you also get a damage bonus for using non-consecutive attack types.
On the corruptor your damage is alot less....and scourge doesnt improve that by much....also any form of hold or sleep or stun will pretty much stop you no matter what.
I also hate to point this out but the amount of energy you expend on a corruptor seams to be alot more...not sure why either. -
Well, bear in mind I'm neither a) a big comic book dude nor b) raised in a primarily Anglophone country.

The 1930s eh? That's about 50 years before I was born.

You should really see a doctor about that eye problem.

I'm not familiar with the character, but as uninspired superhero names go, The Shadow is right up there with Superman.
-
I, for one, am dazzled by the humility you show.
Ill/Rad and Mind/Psi share one thing in common, they're both go-to TF soloers. They both excel at what they do, but the problem is outside of those situations where they shine, other ATs can be much stronger. There just isn't a character which is the best at AV/GM/TF soloing which is also best at the other stuff (nuking spawns, speeding missions etc)
Fire/Traps comes close. Very capable AV/GM soloer, capable of soloing some TFs, but not as good at it as an Ill Troller or Mind Permadom. For that, they have much better AoE damage.
Something else to consider would be Ill/Cold instead of Ill/Rad. Ill/Cold will be tougher to get perma-PA on because you don't have AM, but I feel its a stronger combination once you get there. Sleet is easier to leverage as an AoE -res debuff than EF is and Heat Loss is a truly fantastic power. With the Ice Mastery pool you can softcap your s/l and pick up 2 additional AoEs.
I've got an Ill/Cold and that's the route I went. Solos AVs/GMs/whatever like a beast, but where I felt it was weak was when I couldn't fully leverage my pets. I needed something to boost my direct damage output, and Ice Mastery fits that bill nicely.
Edit: Ooh yeah, or Bots/Traps. Even more reliant on pets than Ill/Cold, but has good AoE and good hard target soloing ability. -
The thing is, Empathy, Pain and Poison didn't (and don't) have to apply 2 click buffs to every team member every 2-4 minutes to fully contribute their buffing power.
At most, an argument could be made for maintaining CM on a whole team, but that's a little silly. It's silly because a) a good portion of the team will already have mez protection and b) the devs have already said they want mez protection to be largely reactive.
FF, Sonic, Thermal, Kinetics and Cold were just far more time-consuming to buff the whole team. That's why they get this change.
If you want to argue that Empathy is now sub-par and needs an improvement to its buffing power, well, good luck.
Edit: Poison and Pain are another matter. Poison has no ally buffs except for its Clear Mind-esque power and Pain is in the same position. Pain has an AoE buff which also affects the caster and one very powerful single-ally long recharging power. Totally different scenarios, IMO.
If you want to argue that Pain and Poison need a buff, I'm right with you. But not because of this change. -
Quote:Hence why I said that you can go any primary with Dark.Fire/Dark is an odd combination.
I like my heroes straight of a comic book, not min/max jumble of oddly thrown together abilities. I mean seriously, name one superhero with fire/dark powers?
Though, with all our costume options and powerset customization, if you can't come up with a character with whatever sets that wouldn't look out of place in a comic, perhaps that's not the failing of the sets, eh? -
Fire/Cold or Fire/Kin would be the best for what you're looking for. Cold being stronger on the debuffing side, Kinetics being stronger on the buffing side.
If you personally want to do as much damage as possible, Kin might be the better bet of the two. Fulcrum Shift will allow you to keep yourself and most of the team at the damage cap, with recharge and endurance out the ears to keep you going full tilt. -
This. While Acemace is a Tanker and thus suffers from many of the cognitive difficulties that getting hit in the head repeatedly entails, he's right about Fire/Darks.
They've got pretty much all their key powers by level 10, have enough offensive power to satisfy most and enough debuffy/self-healy goodness to satisfy the rest. You could of course go any primary with /Dark and be good to go, Fire is just arguably the best.
Tar Patch + double Scourging Rain of Fire = mmmmm hold on daddies gonna need a minute
...
Where was I? Right, Fire/Darks. The advice might seem uninspired since I say it to basically everyone who wants to start in Corruptors, but that's because I actually think its the best way to get a feel for them. A gateway Corruptor, if you will.
Edit: so a lot of people are detailing their difficulties with playing Corruptors due to how different they are to what they're used to. Corruptors really aren't that difficult! Honest! That's not like a "they're easy so I don't know what your problem is" kind of thing, so much as a "seriously if you look they're not so different than other ATs".
Take your favourite character. That's right, favourite with a u. Deal with it. Think about what you like most about that character. Smashy feel, mez protection, shrugging off certain mobs, huge Alpha AoEs, stealth, self-heals, whatever. Now look through the Corruptor primaries and secondaries. Pretty much all of the things that people like about their main characters can be found on Corruptors too.
They just go about it in a somewhat different way. I've seen people complain that Corruptors (or any support) cannot be played aggressively, that they're slow, that you can't hurl yourself at mobs. These people have never seen a Corruptor played well :3 Scourge rewards you for playing aggressively.
Anyhoo. If people have whatever questions about Corruptors read my guides. Send me a tell if you want some one-on-one time...ladies. -
Quote:From a global channel:
Quote:wow i am biginning to feel my chaarcter topping out....corruptors just are not too much fun after a certain level point
and i am not even level 20 yet
thats what i am thinking too
another kitty to send to the character graveyard
yah thats not what i see...i see i get hit by alot of stuff....and my heal power isnt able to compensate at all
and worse the actual blasts are sub par....as in my actual melee punch is doing about the same damage
at first iw as doing not too bad...but now..even level things are becoming difficult
this will be the thrid corruptor i have given up on
i think the archtype is basicaly just broken
scourging for less damage then your veteran power is pretty lame -
The main problem with in-game chat channels (all channels) is that they are filled with and moderated by people.
-
Oh, by all means make a Corruptor anyway. Make several, just to be sure.
-
nuuuuuu /Cold
It'll be painful pre-35 but so much better than Sonic later on. Your best pets don't benefit from the res shields and with PA you don't really need the mez protection Sonic gives you either.
Go /Cold. Or /Rad if you're feeling boring :3 -
Katabasis, my Ill/Cold Controller hit 50 today. All shiny and IOd out now, time for accolades!
-
Yeah, Disruption Field now draws absolutely zero aggro. Not to you, not to whoever its on. Tested a while back with a friend on her Stalker, sat stealthed in the middle of a spawn with DF on, they didn't bat an eyelid.
Pretty neat. -
If Scrappers got SS and Ninjitsu, I'd actually make another one.
-
I for one am shocked, given Chinas stellar human rights record.

Quote:Pain hasn't really competed with Thermal in a big way since Pain was launched. Don't get me wrong, I like Pain. I think its a pretty good set. But for almost everything I'd bring it to a team for, Thermal does better and more.I don't think it's trickier. With this upcoming change to buffs, I'm having a hard time seeing Pain Dom's advantage over Thermal. Heck I'm having a hard time seeing PD even competing with Thermal.
What PD offers Thermal doesn't now:
1. A large ally heal that can get you killed
2. A very nice buff you can use on 1 teammate max.
Thermal can counter #2 with Forge, offsetting the +reg, +rec by being able to buff more teammates, for a slightly smaller +Dmg buff.
With much better resists, similar heals, better debuffs and arguably better offensive buffs (since Forge can be used on 6 teammates), it just seems so one-sided now.
The buff change is good, no doubt, but I'm bummed that I choose PD for my current leveling toon over Thermal because I didn't want to do the double shielding ever 4 minutes this time around.
Yes, but the result of this is just that for the tohit roll it checks against the psy defense of the AV. It doesn't make the defense or damage resistance buffs more effective.
