Over the course of several issues, we've seen the developers undergo and complete a variety of different projects that have been thought to be impossible to accomplish by the players and developers alike.
Power customization? Mission Architect? Going Rogue?!
All of these things are proof that NCSoft and Paragon Studios are cracking down on the features that they were not able to provide earlier, in order to make a better gaming experience for everyone.
Maybe, once Going Rogue has settled in, we can focus on quadrupedal skeletons? Canines, felines, wolves, and things of that nature? It seems like there is so much potential within this branch to add more animal-like figures. Some examples?
- Council using ravenous dogs as trackers.
- Devouring Earth using new models for stronger forces.
- Freakshow wanting to protect a kitten (because we all know that they love cats.)
- The Tsoo worshiping a gold-adorned canine companion.
- New Powersets with summonable animals (Control set, MM set, whatever.)
- Adding Temporary/Veteran Rewards for your own summonable dog/cat pet!
- Storylines involving animal rescue, to really touch the hearts of the community's animal lovers.
- Some real natural-feeling environments; woods, etc.
Should the developers choose to finally crack down with animal skeletons, I think it would be beneficial to the entire game. I don't know if you'd want to devote an entire issue to it, but if you did, you could just title it 'Paws of Justice' and be done with it.
tl;dr - Paws of Justice FTW -
Quote:Pardon my lack of empathy, but... So? Oh wow, you have to step into a PvP zone. Any PVP is essentially looking at each other, looking at their archetype, and deciding who would win... Or who brought the Stalker.Wouldn't agree to costumes because I don't think you should be forced to pvp to get costumes for your character (one of the very few things I don't like about champions online) but the other stuff sounds great. Not sure if you were saying it should be in pvp or not... I may have misunderstood.
I'm ALL for Costume recipes dropping zone-specific, and I'm for other things doing just the same. I wish Striga, The Hive/Abyss, Boomtown, and all the unused zones had a plethora of reasons to venture into; those being costume pieces.
Because they're not forcing you to do a damn thing... A costume doesn't benefit you in any way beyond your own aesthetic pleasure. If you say 'I'm being forced' in a video game, you're essentially forcing yourself. -
Quote:Sounds fair enough. Thanks for clearing that much up.Sigium,
Also, there is a thread going on in the Brute forums about Ice/Ice Brutes. Basically, with the reworks of how Fury works, and the fixes to Ice Melee that came about after CoV, Ice/Ice Brutes are definitely viable now for proliferation.
Ice/Ice Brutes? Suuuure. Let me edit my post as soon as I give a hoot. -
It's posts like these that make me an optimist; because I know that under the nearest rock or moss-covered stone is a smarter, more-sentient lifeform.
My eyes hurt just from trying to read that unintelligible blather. -
I was thinking between Electric Control, Radiation Control, and maybe Darkness Control... The latter two already have powers used by Defenders, however, and in such a manner that they already cross into the category of Controller-type powersets.
-
Quote:It's all good, friend. The main point of the matter is that we need NEW Control-based sets, and not proliferated sets.I was sorta saying "The main premise of why Domis don't get Illusion is wrong" more so.
If I alluded you're a dick I apologise. I'm sure you're lovely.
I just like arguing mostly. I don't believe in attacking people (much), more arguing with what they've posted (and sometimes being convinced that they've got a good point after all). -
Welcome to City of Heroes/Villains, you couldn't have picked a better time to join, what with Power Customization in the mix.
Some things you may want to consider:
- If you're trying out the 'Controller' AT, avoid Illusion Control unless you plan on teaming with the heavy damage dealers constantly... Slow set is sloooow (at low levels.)
- Mastermind AT. Love it.
- Experiment with Architect Entertainment, but don't look at it and say "Oooh, this can gain me levels faster." Please. -
Quote:I feel that way, maybe it's just me? It's the simple feeling of authenticity and genuineness that came with the original 3 movies.Except you didn't really say much. What, are models better than SG or something?
But maybe it's just me.
But what ISN'T me is the damn midichlorians! Seriously, George Lucas! Bad! BAD DIRECTOR for trying to explain the force through mitochondria-like things! -
I have to say... I love this. All of it.
Of course, when Going Rogue hits, and we'll have all ATs on all sides, they won't be quite as unique.
OMGGOINGROGUEISDOOOOOOM! -
Quote:Well, I'm assuming it's because that sounds silly... Just plain, utter silly. But maybe that's just me.While every MM dreams of the day they can customise their pet costumes, to hold us over until that wonderful day, why not allow an MM to customise their primary by change the 'pet set'. i.e. MMs could customise their primary by changing the pets that go with the power (imagine pistol toting zombies! or your ninjas suddenly pull out machine guns!).
Honestly, not sure how difficult this would be as I have no idea how the animations are coded, but would be cool. -
Quote:Ah, my apologies. In my sleep-deprived mindset, I was under the impression that you were saying more along the lines of "You're wrong, and this is why you're a dick." Paraphrased, of course.I agree with you, Earth was the better choice between the two, but I disagree with your reasoning as to why, it's more to do with Theme (as per your point below) than your original point about Illusion not working well with Domination, which, even allowing for the standard code rant *could* be dealt with.
That's just reiterating the final point of my first post really. It's more to do with the fact that Illusion would step on the toes of Masterminds more than the fact it wouldn't work well with Domination (especially given the amount of changes Domination has gone through since release).
Controllers control their enemies. They certainly don't control their pets (see Fire Imps for examples)
Really I'm not disagreeing with your point about Illusion not being a good fit for Domis, just your reasoning on why it's so.
We're more likely to see Dark Control & Elec Control I reckon. Both have a lot of suitable powers ingame already to build the sets from. -

I love the Vanguard costume; I think it's one of those creme de la cremes of JLove, and making it more readily-available would be awesome.
But how would you justify acquiring a Vanguard uniform without being a member OF Vanguard? -
It's another suggestion coming from the bowels of CO, and yes this is a 'Well, THEY do it' thread, so if you dismiss ideas based on that, this isn't the thread for you.
I'd simply like the option of being able to right click and hold my character at the costume editor in order to rotate them, rather than relying on the arrows. This, coupled with using the mouse wheel to zoom with just be awesome.
That is all. -
Quote:5 is plenty good to make a set worthy of Domination; not to mention that it wasn't originally a Dominator Powerset. It was either Earth Control, or Illusion Control having to be ported over... Guess which seemed the better pick? VoilaHow many power does Earth Control have that are actually affected by Domination? 5, if you count 2 immobs and a sleep. 2 which are actually useful (the stun and the hold).
Quote:Plus looking at it from the other PoV Illusion is also the worst for Controllers in terms of using Containment and it doesn't really hurt them too much. Illusion on a Domi would be fine. You could also adjust their Spectral Terror summon to do a one-off AOE Fear Effect if they're in Domination (the actual summoning power, not the pet), it'd be the same amount of work as porting any other Controller -> Domi power to do so really. Actually thinking about it Flash would almost be worthwhile to pick up for a Domi at low levels just because of the Domination Boost. Normally it's rubbish.
And just thematically; you're not 'Dominating' anyone in the sense of holding them in place with your powers, you're just summoning things (I suppose you could say you're Dominating your pets, but let's keep this PG.) A Controller controls their pets (to the extent of summoning them and watching with a dumb grin.)
Quote:I think it may just be a case of differing playstyles. I've found no real issues with it aside from endurance - it's just a different mindset. Similar to a Stone brute, you take a more tankerish role than a scrapperish one - yes you deal less damage, but you have more survivability instead (via your controls in Dark's case). Obviously, it can't match the insanity that is Granite form, but it's hardly fragile.
Then again, the Brute seems like an odd Archetype... You want to NOT kill things, so they can continue to punch you more, so you can kill them faster? -
Quote:Have you SEEN a Dark/Dark Brute? It makes me wonder how it crawled out of Beta, quite honestly. I've tried playing one, myself, but found it nigh impossible because of a combination of 'Whiff' and 'WHY AM I NOT KILLING ANYTHING WHEN I PUNCH IT?!'To be fair, Dark Armor has the potential to remove incoming attacks on a scale much more intense than Ice Armor ever could, and Brutes not only get that set, but seem to do fine with it, so I'm highly dubious Ice Armor would be unplayable.
It has a single power that slows the recharge of its foes by 32%, and no other powers whatsoever that would affect fury generation while fighting (except of course Hibernate, but you're not attacking either, so it's a moot point), while Dark Armor has a stealth, a fear and a disorient, all of which potentially eliminate the incoming fury completely, rather than just reduce it like Ice does. -

I'll admit, I'm having some difficulty working with Power Customization in the way the Tailor works. Either I find the menus too obscuring and having to toggle them on/off, or I'm struggling with the dropdowns trying to get my options back after getting lost for 4.3 seconds. -
I know this might be the wrong time to ask, AC, but are you going to Tarrant County Community College? If you are, and you're going to it's Northeast Campus... Guess who you'll be spending time with?
It's a shot in the dark, but here's hopin'. :P -
You're mistaking your job title: Defending doesn't always mean 'Make sure no one dies', but rather 'Make sure the bad guys either can't attack, or can't do much by attacking.'
If someone whines about you not doing 'your job' while healing, just lay down enough traps to get the job done and incapacitate the enemy.
And if it gets REALLY bad? Take Stealth. Take stealth and use it to plant traps within the mobs. Or a Tanker; whichever you'd prefer. -
I'm feeling particularly nice, so I'll pick this apart piece by piece.
Yes, because when you rely on enemies attacking you to build fury, you DEFINITELY want to slow their attack rate. There's a reason this didn't make it past CoV Beta.
How many powers does Illusion Control have that's actually affected by Domination? 3; 4 if you count Spectral Wounds, which we don't.
Assuming this is Energy Melee, rather than Electric Melee? Sure. Why not?
How many animals are already in the game? The answer is NONE. Why is this? Because we don't have the skeleton bases to build animals and 4-legged creatures on.
Quote:Lots of new costume options with higher detail on costume. Like forearms and thighs and stuff like that. More weapons to pick also. And who ever did magic pack have that person make the new costumes.
Are you always this detailed with your sugg... Oh, wait, yes you are.
Quote:A new Co-op zone. And open Hazard zones to Vills. And make them Co-op. Shadow Shard for sure.
Quote:Fix alot of the bugs.
Some new power pools with new Travel powers. Please new travel powers.
More Base items. And at least Base Raids. Even if the is no CoP.
More reason to play a 50. Like alot more to do at 50.
New IO's.
And finally, the devs have ALREADY PLANNED OUT the next several issues. Do you think they go issue-by-issue, pulling things out of their rear ends? I would hope not. -
Quote:A lot of people do a lot of rude things in this game, as they do in any MMO, as they do in life.I was the team leader. Yes, they knew it was my mission. Yes, they knew I was gone. Etc. They even invited me back to the team and before I could get back to the mission they finished it. They were just plain old rude. There's no other way around it.
I guess this whole thing is more about etiquette than what I was asking for in my original post.
As for ST's variation? Yes, I could think of the Barracuda farm, I'll confess... And your idea wouldn't be too horrible, but I just find it useless for myself.
So /neutral. It's not a bad idea, but it's low on the priority base. -
-
Ohhhh! My mistake.
Well, more for adding different costume variety options at all times. -
Isn't there a 'Masks With Hair' option for type of head? I'm pretty sure there is.
