Why is it that when ANYONE posts the 'latest and greatest' way to 'efficiently implement vehicles' it's always ignoring the most basic of questions and mechanical setbacks?!
How does it strafe? How does it turn like we do? How does it go into buildings? And if it just goes to 'Legacy Power' then why is my Kung Fu character flying in the air like some magic guy?!
How does combat work? How will this affect load times? How will I zone? How does it enter/exit? What happens if I'm attacked? Can I drink coffee while on my vehicle?
These are serious questions. -
/no to this idea.
Yes, you'll be dealing a lot of damage... Over time. And while you're waiting for the damage to tick away? They're dealing their damage upfront, and killing you.
So, you're dead, and you might just kill them! But if you're dead, then that's a bigger problem. -
This was in the game at one point, if I recall. I believe it was because the angle of the cone is baked into the power, unlike the range and damage values.
Perhaps I'm wrong, but such is life. Either way, I'll pass on the idea. -
Take Martial Arts, Super Strength, etc... We've got alternate animations? Add a few more...
Visual effects! An option for all your Biff/Pow/Bam needs! Right here, baby!
(And then, in an odd Holiday Miracle, Sigium decided to put down the glass of brandy and swear he would never post on the forums while legally drunk again.) -
... What?
It sounds like you're asking for completely different zones. Shadow Shard needs a revamp, yes, but not only so a few players can 'see' it.
I can imagine how that would be with teaming; a nightmare. "I can't see ****!" "To your left! No, your other left!" -
Quote:Fiiiiiine, I changed the title to something a bit more broad. Like the new OP says, some gauntlets, or shinguard kinda armor would be just awesome, and make him look all the more awesome. Also, does he actually have room for shoulderpads with that mantle cape of his?
As it stands, there's so little that distinguishes him, aside from the mask. -
-
The title really says it all. Statesman looks pretty awesome, but when you stack 'em up next to Tyrant, it just looks like he could use some shoulder armor, or some gauntlets/calf armor to buff his appearance up a small bit. Some sleek, rounded, silver plates would make States look just... Dare I say... Super?
Edited to be more broad, since we apparently live in the world of DC Comics. :P -
Considering the Midnight Club is directly tied to Universities, and the only other gateway is to Cimerora, which doesn't need a crafting table because it's set in ancient Rome, I'm gonna have to /no this. You're close enough to crafting tables as it is.

Quote:No, no, you don't get it-- We don't HAVE that mechanic. Listen closely:I disagree. I think it'd work perfectly.. You'd jump up, your cape would spread out, you'd glide for a little ways and then you'd drop and do it again.. That's just me.. I was thinking that the capes dynamics would be something more like a Hang Glider and a Parachute. A cross between the two.
Use Superjump. The speed will go Fast -> Slow. While you're descending, and the jump is ending, it's not propelling you far at all, in comparison to the way you jump up.
Now think of Batman's cape. When he's falling (i.e. gliding), THAT is what's moving him forward, rather than the ascent upwards. It's essentially a 'reverse Superjump' if you will.
Awesome, I get to have mid-air fights while standing on nothing, and once I'm done kicking the crap out of Lord Sinister Hushpuppy, I can resume my flying on a disk that I can only assume will appear right back into the fray. -

Especially when the Tier 9 isn't much 'fighting' as it is 'shooting'. We've got a shooty-shooty bang-bag set, and it's pretty good so far. Over all, this set looks lackluster, both in performance and design.
Sorry, bro, but you're on a good start. There have been a lot of good 'Street Fighting' powersets suggested. -
[Has yet to read any of the replies]
This power set strikes me as being just... Evil, and not in the good way. I don't think the developers would want to make a very inclusive 'Spear' powerset, and then modify it so that the only people who feel conceptually 'right' using it are tribalist Shamans and so forth.
/Yes to a spear.
/No to a spear with attacks like 'Red Sky'. -
Quote:Oh no, the people will feel pressured to play their game, whatever shall they do?10% per tier, maybe?
With IOs as the big name in power enhancement now, a little discount would be flavorful.
But this might lead to people feeling pressured to do their origin's contacts, and there's a pretty big disparity in the early game between fighting Council and fighting, say, Vahzilok.
/signed regardless. -
1. A metric f-ton of new costume pieces/combinations
2. At least 3 new powersets (We've already got 2, I'd like 1 more as a surprise)
3. New Supergroup base pieces/interface
4. A 'Looking For More' option. -

City of Heroes is a wonderful MMO; the best out there, in my opinion. It's got it's bugs and different things that need to be worked out here and there, but it's definitely my best pick of the litter.
When Champions Online came out (this isn't a comparison thread!) I bought it with high hopes to find that it just wasn't what I wanted... Not in the least. It was as is someone had taken a turd, polished it, and put glitter dust all over it; it just wasn't what I was looking for in many ways.
But now, every last person that hasn't intimately played both CoX and CO is adamantly stating that it's just 'CoX2'. At first, it was something to laugh at, and now it's just something that's downright annoying.
I can easily see how one would confuse the two, however; both have an iconic Hero and Villain, along with the Hero/Villain Groups, both are centered around metropolitan cities, and they... Both deal with Superheroes. While this is all well and good, it leaves me with the question of 'just HOW do we distinguish ourselves as something other than the precursor to the game with polished graphics and more bloom than a rosebush in spring?
To me, it strikes me as Villains, and Going Rogue being what can make the distinguishing factor; we have something that can border on a monopoly of Villains. Champions doesn't have them, Marvel has not mentioned anything... and is DC Universe still in production?
Of course, that's just a small idea, but really, should City of Heroes be concerned with distinguishing ourselves, or should we simply rely on Going Rogue to be THE factor that separates us from everyone else? Is it even an issue? I'm looking forward to the feedback. -
Quote:There IS no appropriate place to put a rant, especially about the 'lack of polite postings'. Maybe in the General Discussion you would've gotten a few to agree with you, but otherwise you're simply blowing smoke, and it's not something that most of us approve of.I thought "Suggestions and Ideas" was the suitable place for the topic. I had an idea that I wanted to share, suggesting that we all take an extra moment when posting and consider the person's feelings before we speak. As I said I don't post very often, so if it is misplaced blame it on simple ignorance of board customs.

I know that some of the things that I say can come across harsh, and sometimes rude, but I do so on a per-case basis. I can recall calling the OP 'junior' for an idea about original images in bases. I call this no more rude than saying 'if you don't like what an SG is posting, then quit the SG.'
The Suggestion forums are going to be rude, and we/they are going to be harsh; we want the good ideas to become better, and the genuinely bad ideas will either be pounded into something acceptable, or be tossed into the same fire they came from.
Consider us the 'Hell's Kitchen' of online forums; we eliminate the bad, and refine the good until we're left with excellent.
There are a few Gordon Ramsey figures about, but thankfully, most of them have the decency to use proper language. -
I DO like the ideas that are presented here, but let's think hard about the mechanics of a lot of these things...
1. With a cape/glider, how do you take into account for the jump distance despondency? When you jump, it's a quick and fast ascent while a quick, but nearly fruitless descent. You don't get too far on the way down in comparison to going up.
With a cape/glider, the descent is what's REALLY propelling you forward, rather than a more normal jump upward.
2. The idea of some sort of hoverdisk is somewhat odd when thinking of game mechanics... Do you just summon it and it appears out of nowhere? I can get behind it if it does, but what happens for things like knockback, or Martial Arts? Kicks and Punches are gonna look a bit odd when you're trying to do so on a 'balanced' disk, considering more 'natural' physics would cause it to tip over. -
Quote:But is an image considered an 'interaction'? It's debatable, I guess, since the very text you're reading could be considered a sort of 'picture' of words. Would vulgar pornography or explicit images be considered interactions, or content?Would the 'Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB' flag cover that, though? I was under the impression that only official content was rated, and that anything players decided to do with built-in communication tools wasn't covered. Existing games have parallels in sprays, but I can't think of any game with sprays that isn't naturally M anyway, so the only good point of reference I can think of is gone.
(Not official content, of course, but content nonetheless.) -
Quote:This.I don't like the idea of "gear," visible or not.
Champions Online has invisible gear, and the system is clunky and hard to understand so I couldn't really get into it. Maybe it's second nature to a WoW player, but I couldn't really get into that game either.
I like the generic idea of enhancements. It works well for what CoX does, and allows everyone to think of them somewhat differently.
As others have posted before me, if you want guantlets that do fire damage, put guantlets on your costume and roleplay it.
Even with the character descriptions of the stats, it still made me wonder "Oh, fantastic, DEX increases my stealth... By how much?" They have a few percentages, but for things like your critical hit chance and all that stuff. I'd find my equipment increasing [stat] and I wondered "Well, do I NEED that stat at this point? Do I need more?" -
Then don't market it as a 'standalone costume creator'. Market as a 'Paragon Studios Wardrobe Explorer'; something that syncs up with any updates, depending on issues, and downloads any/all new costume bits right onto the app.

Quote:Because Purple IOs will not get you accepted or rejected for task/strike forces.I was specifically addressing Sigium's "The lack of 'epic gear' is what keeps me playing THIS game." comment. I'm not seeing that many real differences between purples/high-end set IOs and epic gear. About the only difference is that there's no specific mob I have to beat up to have a chance at looting a purple.
Because no one can see the enhancements in your powers.
Because they require absolutely no costume change.
Because they affect only that single power (aside from set bonuses, which are admittedly nice)
Because there are few to no sets of enhancements that encourages the 'Holy Trinity' of teaming (i.e. there's no enhancements meant for Healers and DPS, etc.)
Because there are not enough challenging things in this game as it is. We don't need MORE bonuses.
And look! The devs have already included things like Spaulders, a Viser, etc!

In short: No.
