  1. Which still leads to my original point.

For players who dont read the forums, the advice most often given out in BC is just drop the mission, its not worth banging your head against.

Is this really what the devs want?

Yeah that is the second problem that needs dealing with.

Villianside is DEAD on most servers because of the TF/merit imbalance for heroes. Got a bunch of help offers, all from hero characters...

Wound up just dropping it for bad game design.

yeah thats a great idea, so why not just pack up and close up villian faction if that is the only answer.

I have no problem with Apex being difficult, that should be difficult.

But normal missions should still be doable, and having this non cross faction is just silly.
And whats the point if many and possibly most are jsut dropping it, this was the advice that was most often given in BC.

  5. Doesnt help the mission is not cross faction and villianside is a complete and desolate wasteland on almost every server.
  6. Pulled Honoree solo, he still held then 2 shot me, 3 times.
  7. This is one of the worst missions Ive ever seen in the game, getting held and 2 shotted is not in any way shape or form fun.

This mission is darn near undoable by squishies unless they are bleeding io's from their ears.

Melee's are soloing this fairly easy and dont want or need to team up with the squishies.

And I saw alot of people saying just drop the mission, its not worth it...

whats the point of putting in a mission so many people are just going to drop.

I honestly dont think waiting a week will do much, it needed to launch before world ender, people will be playing till well into jan before boredom will start setting in.

I play both but I think a full expansion is a bigger deal than a content expansion. So I will be off to participate in world ending event.

Sometimes they get picky about directly mentioning other games. I just dont think its a really great decision to put yourself up directly against the 800lb gorilla, heck its risen to the level of 8000lb gorilla.

Yeah even though they technically have a week, coming in trying things out for a few days then not coming back for a month or two.

my final point is they had a golden opportunity here to get it out this week and catch alot of bored players with preexpansion blues. We saw it here before GR, this was a bad bad mistake even if its not actually anyones fault.

    Time to dampen some spirits.

I did some research, and checked the various News posts on the CoH main page. These are the results I got:

    4/27/09 - I15 Overview
    6/26/09 - I15 Launch
    7/15/09 - I16 Overview
    9/16/09 - I16 Launch
    2/24/10 - I17 Overview
    4/28/10 - I17 Launch
    8/17/10 - GR/I18 Launch
    10/5/10 - I19 Overview

Looking at that pattern, an Issue Launch seems to come almost exactly 2 months after an Issue Overview is posted.

Two months from 10/5 is 12/5, and that's a Sunday, so we need to add 2 days, since Launches seem to happen on Tuesdays.

Using that patten, my expected Launch Date for Issue 19 is December 7, 2010.
There is No way in heaping heck are they going to launch on dec 7, there is a certain world ending event happening on that day that would truly be doom for this issue.
  11. yeah Im pruning myself of all my characters that cant be turned into aoe farming monsters.

I think as the content gets harder we are going to need to be heavily io'd and have at least some purpling anyway
  12. What bothers me is if your unwilling or unable to run a few of the more difficult TF's is that you are going to need a grinder character to grind shard.

Trying to grind out purples with anything less than an aoe monster that can fast solo +1 x 8 is painful at its best.

I dont consider grinding so hard and so long your brain actually melts from the heat to be casual.

And those that are undesirable tend to not be so great at map farming.
  14. This is why I feel blasters and stalkers will be left out. Blasters have a damage primary and secondary and Stalkers are somewhat innefective against Av's compared to a brute or scrapper.

Stacking buffs/debuffs is so effective it negates just about any other strategy.

Its not that its impossible to do things other ways, but if a team leader is faced with content they are unsure of winning.

The SUREST way to win is to stack buff/debuff.

The more sure the team leader is of success the more likely they will take Builds without secondary roles.
  15. It seems to mostly be blasters and stalkers that get left out.

Can anyone say with a straight face that a team of 6 def/cor/cont and 2 brutes/scrappers dont whip through content faster and easier than just about any other possible combination.

    Why A Blaster?

Ive made masterminds, Controllers and Corruptors that can get up to or even surpass blaster damage.

And they are alot more surivable.

This is one of the major if not the major disconect between players and Devs.

Devs balance to is it function, do blasters function, yes.

Players view balance as how do you compare with something else.
Do blasters get enough in return for their complete lack of doing anything other than damage, no

Or are you one of the people that actually thought it was perfectly fine for a Tanker to round up literally entire maps and aoe them all down with Burn with absolutely no team support at all?

Also, to my knowledge the Devs have never stated that IO's were the reason behind the GDN or ED. I do recall them stating they felt the game was out of whack and needed adjusting at the time though.
I remember Tankers just about died back then so did blasters, everyone was a scrapper/cont/defender

Who wants a tank that couldnt survive an 8 person spawn (they couldnt), or a blaster who did poor damage (they did)

They said very specifically that ED was put in because they couldnt add anything else to the game with the numbers this high and they had something in the works they wanted to do.

At the time it was skills, which later evolved into Io's

and yes the game SUCKED hard between i7 and i9.

Given that CoH has always been about the journey, not the destination, such shenanigans in this game would be guaranteed to chase me away almost instantly.

But I suppose that isn't really relevant to this particular conversation. I just don't like the idea of an "end game" in CoH at all, but we'll see how it goes.
    ED... ED!!!

This is exactly what was done with ED.

They cut everything with the intention of balancing around Io's later... those issues between ED and Io... were some of the worst, darkest, most boring gameplay this game has ever seen.

I played for like 2 months in that year and half or so, the game was so terrible.

    We dont need that again.

I would say chances are this is bait.

This is probably to draw out the criticism then they can run all the future content packs a little skimpier than they had been but beefier than this.

And the playerbase will love it, eat it up, and say, see they listened to us, instead of realizing they just got played by marketing.
  20. Dominators are power, they are awesome.

They are NOT in any way shape or form cheap.

I would not under any circumstances recomend a dominator to a new player with limted resources.
  21. If suddenly every player in the game took manuvers and just slotted 1 end reduction, yeah this just about would break the game.
  22. I think after all this time.

With a complete an utter lack of responses, I think we can safely assume this issue is deader than most low level TA defenders.

Its actually not too bad as a controller or MM set and I really think thats the problem.

My Thugs/TA is a monstrosity of destruction, my TA/Arch is usually just dead.

This set really needs a disclaimer, hasten and powerleving to mid 30's required.

If enough of the city was saved, then the server would not be shut down. However, you would not be given a free server transfer to return to your original server. You'd either have to stay in your new home or pay your own way back.

If you failed, the server would shutdown and any characters on the server at the time will be deleted.

Would you risk a character then?

From an RP-style point of view, I have a few magic-based heroes who would volunteer. In fact, probably most of them. Only one or two of my villains would, as a matter of pride. Most would not, however.

I have to go with Uber on this one.

From a players perspective Id have to go with PLing a meaningless probably overpowered character just to do what was needed.
  24. Stop playing till its fixed is the best idea I can come up with.
  25. Yeah thats what I meant.

This has been a bit of a buggy mess of an issue
