Quote:Yeah... the fact that his logic seems inconsistant with the mission difficulty changes and to some extent the SK/Lacky changes gives us a glimmer of hope.... except of course that he explicitly said 'no.'Yup, Positron is standing firm on this one apparently. The attitude seems to be that forcing players to be annoyed by arbitrary team sizes in the hopes that we'll team against our will is more important than allowing players to accomplish what they can accomplish without hassle.
Sort of changing topics, sort of not... Anyone else ready for them to make the crystals in mission 2 to be real crystals instead of just punching bags? -
Quote:/signed...So now can we have the option to solo this...
pretty please!!!
although I remember hearing/reading something somewhere (comic-con q&a maybe?) that TF starting requirements were being left alone because they were meant to be team activities (yeah.. that didn't make much sense to me either... it just sounded official). -

Quote:I'd just like to endorse this whole concept as being one of the coolest ideas I've seen.I was playing around on my MM last night and noticed I was flying past the AE building when I had a thought.
I personally started avoiding AE shortly after it launched, having published a few arcs and then getting tired of the bAEbies being born.
With all the talk of CO and it's AN system I realized it'd be pretty simple to do the same thing here.
This is what I propose;
You give me a brief description of your Mortal Enemy, motives, powers & level, looks etc. and I'll become them.... sorta.
You'll never know when it'll happen.
I'll create a very short mission, one that has your Arch Nem doing something bad, then I'll send you a /tell or in-game mail taunting you to try and stop me. You can then, at your leisure, pop into an AE building and start up the arc. (I'll provide the # with the taunt)
No fuss, no muss. Just leave a comment letting me know you've done it. Then I'll unpublish and create a new one! Won't be a constant thing, just something that happens from time to time. After all, you never know when Dr. So and So will escape yet again to cause mayhem! Sometimes the mission will continue a storyline, sometimes they'll just be up to no good.
Thoughts? Suggestions? -

That's how it works.... literally. There is, by definition, a gap between the lowest bid price and the highest list price. If that gap is really high, flippers make lots of money. Competition between flippers pulls that gap together... but the gap will never go away.
In my experience, the only thing that can stop you from becoming a flipper is to make enough money that flipping isn't worth it anymore. Ironically, for me this level of wealth coincides with no longer caring about what I buy and sell salvage for, turning me into a supplier and a customer of the salvage flippers.... trickle down economics as it were. -
I've been looking at col-...er... fun builds lately. Unfortunately I'm already using the name Refrigerator Monkey and would have to delete a toon that has a lot of promise to reuse the name.

If you're getting paid have people click your link, you're a genious (i clicked 4-5 times). If there's really a mid's update somewhere there, I don't see it.

Quote:Play the market. Go to the Market Forum. Listen to the people who say "this isn't that hard folks... do this." Ignore the people who say, "you guys are all hacking cheaters who ruin the game," because clearly they're not going to be able to help you make money.I haven't played CoH in a while before a few days ago. I can't seem to come up on enough INF to get some serious IO action going on. I usually try to farm up with my 50s and then transfer INF. Gets to be a little tedious sometimes though.
The first million is harder then the 2nd million. The first 10 million is harder then the 2nd 10 million. The first 100 million is harder then the 2nd 100 million. The first billion is harder then the 2nd billion. I don't think it gets any easier after that. -
Also, keep in mind, at best, broadsword vs infernal is going to be a 12-15min fight... it could easily be a 20min fight... As long as his health bar is not going back up to full every health tick (AV's tick 5% health every 15 seconds), you're winning.

Quote:For a brief time I built Shadow Monkey (dm/shield) at level 50 without the Fitness pool (used conserve power and Dark Consumption. I was still able to successfully solo AVs with that build without crashing my toggles. I ended up going back to a build that had Fitness back in it because I didn't really enjoy managing my endurance so carefully... but that should give you and idea of the potential endurance efficiency of DM/Shield.I've been really interested in DM/SD but it looks like that is about as far away from end efficient as you can get...is that correct?
For primaries, claws is very endurance efficient. -
Quote:I'm frequently lft and I PUG a lot... typically you'd see me as Shadow Monkey (50 scrap), Chaos Monkey (50 blaster), or Lode Monkey (rising brute) these days.Gabby - Count me in! You were a big help a few days ago when we attemtped to take on Hamidon...I had never tried it and you were very informative and helpful.
Shred Monkey - All this time on the scrapper forums and I didn't know you were on Infinity! Care to stab things sometime?

Quote:Does mid's calculate that number correctly and what number is it really displaying?I'm not sure that there's a specific ideal. However, I shoot for 95% accuracy or higher against +4s, which would be 183% accuracy as reported by Mids'. I like even higher, but generally try not to make many compromises for it past that point. That may change with I16, though, if I can drop level 55+ enemies into my missions.
note: for those who are unfamiliar with this game mechanic, adding +tohit (usually from powers) and adding +accuracy (usually from enhancements or sets) are not the same thing. -
Quote:Guides are not reflective of how favored a build is. Fire/shield is considered one of the most powerful scrapper builds by quite a lot of very informed people on this forum.Hey guys. I just came of another long CoH Hiatus. I am back now and I am rolling a fire/shield scrapper. I have him at lvl 18 now. I fell into a nice farm yesterday in AE and got there rather quick. SO, I've looked at the guides for shields and fire melee, but no combined guide. It sucks that in this game certain builds are favored way more than others. Anyways, what are you opinion in this type of scrapper? Also, sorry for the title typo.
Guides are basically an outdated method of transfering information. In order to be complete you'd have to write about 187 guides outlining how different combinations go together to match a large variety of playstyles. Instead, the best thing to do is just come to this forum and ask specific questions. Or join the "Forum Scrappers" global channel and get immediate feedback on specific questions.
I'd highly suggest when asking a question be specific and reference your desired playstyle (teaming, aoe damage, soloing single targets, etc). If you don't say what your playstyle is, it will probably be assumed that you want to be an unkillable slayer of the most difficult targets in the game at level 50 and have an infinate budget. (fire/shield is a good choice for that).
Welcome back to the game. Enjoy. -
I really like the idea of running handicapped TF's for time. Commiting to a time and place is difficult for me (I have a 3 year old and a pregnant wife who occasionally MUST HAVE NACHOS NOW.) Therefore, public events run before 9:30pm are generally are out for me.
But if anyone thinks it be fun to run an ITF or some other TFs with a smaller then intended number players who optimized themselves for performing these tasks, I'd be interested in working on such a project. I'd even roll up a new toon optimized for teaming in such situations. -

My experience with AE is pretty limited to to playing my Fire/MM blaster. 90% of the teams I got invited to was a lvl 52 boss farm (WAPL) The majority of runs I did, ended up in the tankers quitting because they died too much. It seems the dev's gave them something called punchvoke as well as giving most of thier primaries a taunt aura. They were all too pre-madonna-ish to turn off thier taunt auras and not use thier attacks. So no matter how much damage my blaster did, I couldn't keep the squishy tanks alive. After the tanks left things always went much smoother with my blaster holding agro nicely. By far the best team I ever had was when everyone quit except my blaster and a stone/kin controller. He kept them immobalized and me fulcrum shifted. We cleaned out the mission and ran it a 2nd time.

Monitor your last chance to hit to detect getting debuffed. I'm sure the game is calculating things exactly the same way it has for the last 5 years. Computers are funny that way.

I think the AVs on the blue side tend to be easier for the melee damage-n-survive type of AV soloing... but the numbers come out ahead for the brute... primarially because of the +hitpoints. Other things are relatively equal.
-
I rarely use ANY toggle below level 20 (when you can get stamina). Endurance reducers go in all my attacks right after +acc. As mentioned earlier, get parry and use it regularly... that will be enough mitigation to get you well into the 20s easily.

In my expirience, the best way to get a god-like point man (not always a tank) and the self absorbed kin user to cooperate is to actually *BE* one of those 2 people (I always play point-man toons).
Both groups of people tend to have ego complexes that require careful stroking in order to play together nicely (yes, I have a bit of an ego at times).
Try this next time:
"Holy <explicative> ..when the tank and kin are <explicatively> working together this team <explicatively> kicks <explicative>."
Say that phrase or a something similar every few minutes with lots of flattery toward each of team members (pick your own explicatives) and things should go rather smoothly.
I've never actually led a team using that method, but I have been on the receiving end of several "<explicative> monkey... leave some for us =)" comments. Even if I'm not getting the greatest xp or inf... I happily accept flattery instead. -
Quote:It all started with me complaining about my lack of funds and deciding I need a good farmer. I listened to ideas thrown out on JFA and heard one I liked- a Spines/Dark Scrapper. I even came up with a concept, a Chubracopra (I've been corrected on the spelling at least twice), which by my own personal theory is a Grey alien version of a werewolf. Finally, I created the bizzare excuse to use the Alien Skull helmet option and took it into outbreak.
Jeez louise, this thing is a monster! I heard Barb Swipe is the worst attack but it tore through the Infected pretty well (when I wasn't one-shotting them with Sands of Mu), looking rather nasty at the same time. I've never had so much fun getting Isolator before.
Though this is meant for farming so I'll willing to do whatever dirty tricks I need to get to the good levels, I'd like some advice on what to do with this thing I've created and how to best utilise the horrible murderness.
You, sir, are playing this game correctly. I've no doubt you will enjoy this toon if you keep that attitude.
I highly recommend you learn to use Mid's as you seem interested in min-maxing your concept. You'll want to focus a lot of attention on endurance management. Endurance reducers and accuracy in your attacks.. as well as getting some +endurance IOs. There's a targeted heal IO that procs a chance for +endurance. You want that in your heal for sure.
Keep coming back here for more information. We've got a lot of it. -
I'll join.... though I don't chat much in game since it disrupts my death chain.

Quote:Listen to Silverado. He speeks from expirience that spans many many ATs.Fastest ATs at soloing AVs are Corruptors and Controllers (Fire/Rad for both)
/Traps is killer against AVs, but since re-applying the debuffs takes a sweet bit of time and interrupts your DPS then /Rad is probably better, probably.
For scrappers it's a dm/shield.
If insperations are allowed, I'd be curious what a fire/electric blapper with high recharge popping insperations for defense and endurance can do. (I think this will be my next project when I'm done with my brute).
