  1. I think scrappers need a new inherent called "death with honor." The DWH power affects enemies within a 10 ft radius. When the NPC AI check tells them normally, to run away, if there's a scrapper nearby eminating the "death with honor" debuff, the NPC will instead just bow down in a submissive manner toward the scrapper and wait until their HP are gone. This will solve the AI issues we've all been complaining about and give scrappers the proper role on a team of being the most feared bad-**** around.

I know most non-scrappers would complain that this power is way overpowered, but honestly, it wouldn't change all that much since most enemies will likely not have gotten another attack off anyway.

In response to the people saying scrappers should get a team buff... I think you're confused. See.. the way it works is those other people on the team are there to multiply the overall team Awsomeness. Our job is to bring the Awsomeness that gets multplied.

I haven't played StJ, but the big thing is that Crushing Uppercut hits like a truck, and with the stalker ATO you're going to be critting with it every single time.

The stalker ATO is a complete game changer, seriously, and KM and StJ are one of the best abusers of the proc.
You forgot to mention that the AS out of hide has a much lower animation time then the other sets making it not just awsome, but stupid awsome... (supposedly this is getting a fix someday). It's actually so fast that after playing a KM stalker to level 38, I still dont really know what it is... Most of the time it looks like it just adds a bunch of extra big orange numbers to your previous attack.
  3. If you can include the datachunk it'll be easier to provide help. (the click-link doesn't always work)
  4. A few things I'd consder... most of these are personal preference and not glaring errors.

    1. Trip Mine is pretty worthless... if you're using it for the set purposes, I'd throw the set in soul drain which is a power you'll actually use and want slotted for recharge.
    2. Dark Embrace combined with Tough can give you 60ish resistance to smashing lethal... that's a nice combination to give you some real serious survivability.
    3. Soul Transfer is a good power to give up if you want something else (like dark embrace)
    4. I went back and forth between Caltrops and Web Granade on my traps toon several times. I ended up going with Web Granade, and use it a lot when soloing bosses and EBs who like run all over the friggin map with 50% of their health left.
    5. I've never tried... can you use acid mortor and trip mine while flying?

    Which to choose?

My personal choice between those 3 would also be Katana. Your attacks may not hit as hard, but you do them faster, which in the end gives more damage potential when you're fully built. I never liked the slow wind up animations for BS and WM.

You may know this already, but clicking "F" auto-follows your target, which helps a lot with knockback.

I think I might have been on one of those ITFs playing my Traps/DP defender, Action Monkey. Good fun, indeed.

    I got a Stalker from 10 to 37.

In a stroke of brilliance, I bought my wife a hotel room for 3 nights so she could work on her dissertation uninteruptted for a full weekend. She was very greatful, and I got some serious playtime in. Even my 6 year old got his blaster from 16 1/2 to 18 and he usually spends 75% of his time superjumping.

    /signed... my feelings exactly.
  8. Try soloing with the toon and clear a misison or 2 fighting anything above level 20 just to see if somethings funny.
  9. Going off on a bit of a tangent here... but am I the only one who thinks it's maddness to have 4 seperate currencies of merits to be earning and spending? This is getting more complicated everytime they add something new.

Good change though... good for the game. I like that it's VIP only. IMHO, the goal of marketing should be to gradually push people toward the decision to become VIP.

    damage

What's that new one they're using for the ATOs? Gargantuan?

  12. First of all, it's very common for people to mix and match different IOs from different sets to get their values higher. You don't have to use all of the same set for a power. It's so common there's a name for it: "Frankenslotting."

Specific to your question, there's a HamiO that gives acc/dam. I often use that as a 5th slot to 4 Kin Combats. As I recall, you have to be 50 to use a HamiO.

If you want to boost all 4 attributes in 1 IO, there's a Mako's bite IO that boosts all 4.

  14. Well... in the OP's defense.... if they want to buff scrappers, I won't complain.
  15. Here's what I've seen on this proc based on Mid's and some reading... please correct me if I'm wrong.

Secondary powers that take this IO:

Bone Smasher, Total Focus, Whirling Hands (energy assault)
    Subdue (mental assault)
    Midnight Grasp (dark assault)
    Impale (thorny assault)

If I'm understanding how PPM works, basically with 6PPM for the top level proc, the % change of proc'ing is: (60 seconds/6ppm)/Recharge... so anything with 10 second recharge of higher will be 100% chance to proc. Anything with 8 second rechage is an 80% chance to proc... (80% might seem like it's proc'ing "almost every time" which is what you'd see in a single target hold).

Of all the secondary power options, I think Bone Smasher is a great place for it... but energy assault is kind of lacking in damage output in general, so it's probably not worth making a whole toon based on maximizing the use of this proc to produce damage output.

I happen to have an energy assault dominator.... Here's what I see happening. Ill go home tonight. I'll buy the proc, slot it. Try it out for a bit... I'll think, "Look mom, i'm hitting harder!"... Then I'll die doing something that's really not all that dangerous and I'll remember, that I do way more damage and live longer with, well, pretty much every other toon I own and put him back on the shelf.

Still... of the ATO proc's, i think this is one of the better ones. Stalkers probably got the biggest boost that actually changes the whole way they play... but they needed it badly.

    Free Praetoria!

Simple buisness decision here... when everyone stops buying it... give it away... I suspect we're there or close.
  17. Stalkers lack AoE damage.... in most of the game that matters a lot.

Stalkers lack survivability as well vs Scrappers.

Stalkers are kind of 1 trick ponies now... before they were 0 trick ponies... so that's a pretty big relative improvement... but they certainly aren't making anyone else obsolete.

Scrappers have never been #1 on the pylon test anyway.
  18. There are servers out there where getting into the specific iTrial you want, or TF you want may take a week or 2 of waiting. For that reason, I'd recommend playing Virtue or Freedom. Zones produce multiple instances when the population gets high and there's no fighting for spawns to begin with... so I really don't see any downside to high population servers.

I see a big downside to low population servers in waiting for building teams/trials/TFs.
  19. The move intereface does a pretty good job of telling you everything that happens when transfering servers... what you keep and what you lose, etc. It's surprising how clear it is, IMHO.

Silliness aside, I don't think of CoH as a cartoon MMO, but a comic book MMO, thus the term 'toon' has always slightly grated on me, too. But no more so than the term 'rolling a character' for a game in which there is 'zero' randomness in the character creation process.
The word "toon" worked... people knew what it meant and responded appropriately. I call my toons "toons". I don't know why or where I picked it up, but it stuck. I don't think it's going away.

I disagree that masterminds require constant maintenance and attention to their pets. Perhaps if you're trying to get the maximum output from them, yes... but honestly I think you can do well enough just wandering around aimlessly letting your pets fight whatever they want to 95% of the time.
  22. So... if the market has crashed... you're all buying now, right?
  23. I actually think the content in the trials was very well done also. But I prefer the feel of playing on a smaller team myself as well.

I do really like Dark Astoria now. Though I was surprised to learn that Mot uses the same interior decorator as the Zerg.
  24. Let's just fix the whole problem. Every toggle power or long lasting click-buff needs a "no visual effect" option.

SB will always be benefitting from double BU (160%), and depending if BU eats up it's own duration (something I can't recall right now, would love if someone could comment on if it does or not) it will also be double buffing BB at 160%.

So looking at it with numbers from my build:
(using 399.6 damage on AS (enhanced with 3 dmg IOs, since I don't know exact numbers for unhidden AS crit and a 0.83 (it's animation is 0.67, so I'm using the 0.83 brawl for arcanatime) animation)

    AS(+80%)>CS(+80%)>BU>SB(+160%)>BB(+160%)= 1905.4 dmg over 7.958s or 239.432 dps

Using your chain (and switching my hecatombs from CS to SB) of:

    AS(+80%)>CS(+80%)>SB(+80%)>BU>BB(+160%)>SB(+80%)= 2173 dmg over 9.41s or 230.925

My chain stays on top because it gets double BU on SB and BB instead of just BB. If BU eats it's own duration on initial use then neither chain would get double BU on BB, but my chain would still get double BU on SB.
If you do get double build-up on a power.. i'd use build up just before the AS (which i believe should also critical)... not before SB.
