Quote:I can see where he is trying to go with this. although a very subtle way to do it, he is trying to give marketing suggestions for advertising....this would probably fit in GD better then here...you did not provide and idea or suggestion...
i was introduced by my brother back on july '07. be playin ever since. it also helped that i saw the box on the shlef and remembered my brother saying something about him playing. i asked, he came over and showed me and that is what got me into it. -
this is still going on? snow, the reason uncommon and rare salvage can be specifically bought is because they are hard to come by. commons being on a random roll is just the same as running a mission. you aren't guaranteed to drop an uncommon/rare salvage unlike commons where you are almost guaranteed to walk out of a mission with at least 1 piece.
use your base storage wisely or make an alt group for storage for yourself. that is the easiest way to guarantee that you will get what you want. -
-
i don't worry about problems. sometimes people agree on something, sometimes they don't. kinda like anopther thread or 2 where someone and i agree in one thread but i don't agree with the same persons own thread. that is what is fun about discussions is trying to get the other person to see your point of view.
and i am glad to see that other people feel the same as i do about more options in the degrees you can turn objects. -
Quote:ok, now i get it, you guys want to be able to buy the salvage in stacks that is going for a little more on the market so you can turn around and sell it. still can't get behind this idea. and so what that there are 2,000 of something for sale. put it up at a reasonabley low price and it will sell. i know because i do this with everything. you may not get the best price that the item went for but you will get something for it. and if it isn't enough for you then go to the neaqrest store, which is a hop away from any AE and vendor it. or store it in your sg for when you need it.I'm not so sure it would impact the market that greatly. Yes, much of the excess generated by the rolls may end up on the market, but I think it's just that... the excess, the stuff that isn't as needed anyway (see: computer virus, demonic threat report, Iron...), the stuff that the rolls generated while they look for the masterwork weapons and spell scrolls. The things they need but can't justify spending over 10k inf for per common. When the rolls give them these things they (and clearly, the market in general) need... it likely won't hit the market anyway, as they keep them for their own use.
Alternatively, if the market's supply of, say, spell inks, was running low, the option to spend 100-150 (based off Snow Globe's suggested price point) tickets to infuse the market with a guaranteed stack of 10, rather than spending the same amount of tickets (150/8=18.75[round to 19] rolls), and there being only a cumulative probability of 0.0035 of getting 10 or more spell inks....
and i find it funny that snow wants to keep saying that he doesn't use the market like a store, but then goes on to say that there are no salvage listed for instant gratification prices of under vendor buy prices. the under vendor prices is my understanding of what he wants to pay if he has to go to the market. see, you have to remember, even though you may not want something, there is always someone who does want it. -
Quote:snow, don't come to another thread to try to sneak in minor personal attacks. i see no need for this the same as i see no need for your idea.Curiously enough I started that very suggestion (Buying common salvage with tickets) this morning, and the usual suspects are being outright predictable in their opposition of it.
-
yeah, theres a way to do it, but it is hard to figure out and i don't think you can move the object after you do manage to get it turned like that. i figure this would be just like when they changed the magic desks. all we have to do now to turn an object is right click but it goes 90 degrees. i don't see why they can't change it to go in 45 degree inc's.
-
thats right. i would like to be able to turn my base items in 45 degree increments. it would make placing things in corners and things around objects much easier. then again, i would like to see a little bit of base loving soon, and a lot more soon after.

whatever snow. common salvage costs 8 tickets. if it takes 10 rolls to get what you want, you have 9 pieces of salvage left that you may need to use to make some other recipes. of course you could get lucky and get it in the first roll. of course you could always drop it by doing regular missions or dev choice or honorable mentions buy choosing regular rewards instead of tickets.
and just because something isn't listed at the market doesn't mean you can't put up a bid and wait 5 mins for it to fill. and i know you don't care about the market but the option is there.
as for calling me a dirty marketeer, you would be wrong on that. i use the market when i need to. i just understand how the market works.
and lets add to this, just like in the 60 moth vet rewards thread, when does it stop? are recipes next? i would love to see the ticket prices of those.if you think merit prices are bad wait until you see ticket prices.
with 1 run through an AE mission, you can get alot more stuff with random rolls then you would doing a regular mission. and i don't think that the prices will be 10-20 for common salvage, more like 30-40 or so if they did that. -
best bet is to give it to me and let me delete it for you.
-
do you not understand what the word random means?
Quote:you fail reading comprehension class. where did i say, in what you quoted for this answer, did i say go sell? i said go bid(buy) for a piece and do something else. the market is not a store. plain and simple. what you have is a solution looking for a problem. if everyone was able to select what common salvage they wanted, sure prices on the higher stuff may drop, but then the others are being overlooked and they rise in price. now rinse and repeat this.Looking at the market forums, it is generally considered a waste of time selling salvage.
you do also know that you can select the level range for the salvage roll right? this cuts down on the salavage you get while random rolling so you have a better chance of getting what you want within a few rolls. -
if you think the game won't be around in 30 more months you are probably going to want to store those words in a air tight can so you can eat them in 30 months...
-
get past the build thing and think this out man. do you really want to piss off a lot of players who may quit do to the fact that they paid 5 years worth of sub fees to get that cool power because you want to be able to purchase the power for $10? that will kill the game. what is in place now does not kill the game. please, go search purchasable vet powers and see why these types of ideas are shot down.
hey look, ad even did the work for you... have fun reading. -
Quote:and it pisses off alot of people that already have the 60 month badge who have paid for the game long enough to get it. it is a reward for paying continualy for the game. please, think out suggestions and use the damn search feature before making suggestions. this has been brought up and argued several times within the last year. This is not a Doom post I swear...this is purely hypothetical...
I have the 30 month badge right now.
What if this game doesn't last 2+ more years? Then I never even get a chance for this.
...or...what about those who just joined this game...what if this game doesn't last 5 more years? Then they never even get a chance for this.
Making it available for purchase gives everyone a chance to have it...and it gets the devs more cash. -
name me one vet reward other then toon slots or respecs that you can buy with real money. and i don't mean subbing for the game to get the vet rewards either. and while you're at it, why don't you give some reasons why you want this.
/beging sarcasm: in fact, why don't they just make all vet rewards purchaseable? /end sarcasm. -
and there is nothing wrong with random rolls. if it took 10 rolls to get the one piece of common salvage you wanted, how many others did you get that you can make money off of or use in another recipe you have? you are exagerating a problem that doesn't exsist. and just like everyone else, if you want a specific piece of common salvage, go to the market and place a bid and wait a few mins. i have not seen any spike that didn't come back down to where things were selling at before other then rare io's.
-
no they turned it into energy blast. and yes, ice control is frozen water.
-
ok, you obviously still do not understand how this will hurt the market. go ahead and list for 1, now everyone will be to insure they get the best price until they get down to the low ball bids. now, when people see things selling for 1 guess what they will bid, 1. with the system that we have now, everyone has a chance at getting a good price. with your system, everyone gets screwed. this idea will effectively drive everyone away from the market. good luck getting what you want then.
-
if it is SG mode then if you want to stay in it all you have to do is click settings in the sg window and then accept then change the colors to what your normal colors are then accept.
-
THIS GAME ISN'T WoW. enough said. end of story. close the book and bury the horse. let it stay dead to because right now all we have left to bury is the damn head.
-
you're going to have to return to a previous save/restore point and try something different if you can. if not then a complete wipe and fresh instal may be needed.
-
ok, so now we get everyone listing at 1 and everyone buying at well below what the equalibrium prices are. gee, why is this starting to sound like an "IWANTPURPLE/PVPIO'sFORNOEFFORT" thread? while that may be a little extreme, i believe that that is the underlying motive behind a suggestion like this.
so what happens when you have, and i don't believe i'm asking this again, 1,000 people bidding the same low ball/highest bid price? you have things go off market. why you ask? because people will be able to get the goods then rather then waiting what could be a very obtuse amount of time for a bid to fill. the seller, knowing that he can make more off market will go this route. there will always be someone who "wantsitnao" who will be willing to pay any price for something he can get now. and without having to take any chances, go off market to purchase. and the seller makes out on this as he hasn't paid one dime to market transaction fees which equals more money in his pocket.
just to make another point clear, this will happen with the mid range priced items as they are the way to establish a trusted underground market buyer/seller relationship. and once that starts, then better deals come with it to encourage more off market transactions. this effectively kills the current market and pisses off the devs who spent a lot of time creating the market.
if i am wrong, a market guru will step in to correct what i have said. but not someone who doesn't understand what will happen if this is implemented. -
Quote:you see that 265m sale? that is what the seller is going to want to get. you see that highest bid of 175m? guess where the sale is going? off market. you have now just shown why this is not a good idea. thank you for doing our work for us.The question isn't whether it is hard or not, nor whether it is complicated or not. The question is why. Why would you trade off the market as opposed to using the market? Specifically, why would displaying the best bid and best list price cause players to trade off market? No, you have not answered this question yet.
*EDIT* Maybe there are some misunderstandings at work. I made a picture of what I am thinking this suggestion means.
Is this what we are talking about?
