Quote:tell ya what, go home, think about this and come up with a more fleshed out idea that actually has some powers in it that would not overpower a blaster, realize that blasters do NOT have dark blast, ask yourself why would a blaster need a secondary that doesn't complement a primary, come back here and speak for YOURSELF only(no uses of the words all or we), and don't forget the fire retardent suit...Ok i know this has been mentioned many many MANY times before but if we keep throwin it out there maybe the devs will think about it
I know ALL of you think itd be cool to have a dark blaster, sure the dark blast powerset isnt very blastery but neither is the assault rifle. I think we can make it work hahaha. Heres my idea, its modeled after electricity manipulation since neither of them have a "control" powerset:
1 Touch of fear (+minor Damage)
2 Smite
3 Death Shroud
4 Siphon Life
5 Soul Drain (-the damage it deals, this takes the place of build up)
6 Fearsome Stare
7 Shadow Maul
8 Dark Consumption (-The damage it deals, maybe keep a little damage, i dont know)
9 Oppressive Gloom
There it is. The holds it has are fear, since that seems to be darks main hold/stun. Its got a build up and a power sink/drain psyche/conserve power/ consume thing. its got the toggles. I think this would be a fun blaster. Please comment/ criticize, just leave a post so we can get the devs attention and so i can help make this a more balanced set.
thanks -
i would still get the updates you need or you are going to run into more problems. i would also free up at least 25% of your C: drive.
-
Champions has nothing to do with this game at all and should have no bearing on what your resolution is doing in CoH. go into your options menu in game and set your graphics to what you want. update your video drivers also. they're almost 1 yr old. and update vista to service pack 2. and clean out your c drive. 10% free is not a good thing. i would suggest doing a disc clean up and defrag first before anything.

Quote:absolutely not. maybe anniversarry badges but nothing else. why should a level 1 who has never done anything have all the accolades and other badges when they never did any of the work to get them? Not going to quote the wall of text above me (seriously man, break it up into paragraphs, you made some good points but people won't read the wall of text) but there is a point in there.
You know what I'd get behind? A paid for 'Badge Transfer' option that lets you transfer your badges from one character to another...the one you transfer off of has all their badges completely stripped, they're reset to nothing, nudda, zip, they ain't keeping them badges!
The transfer target gets all the badges given to him along with any unlocks those badges grant.
It's a great way to strip some of those 'hard to get' badges from characters you don't play anymore to ones who would find it more useful OR like above use it to grant all the badges to a new remade version of an old character where you didn't like their secondary/primary. -

Quote:i think the cheapest is like 75 merits... but for some reason i keep wanting to say 125 is it.
This is true, but the cheapest for sale is still what, 150 merits? -
Quote:there was no need for this or any other thread of yours that had anything to do with this subject or anything like it. if you do not understand an AT, go to that section of the forums and ask questions, not make suggestions, and learn from it.
There is no more need for this thread. -
i just skipped from in house testing to live servers for a point.
-
and seeing as how it never made it to live servers, it never really made it in game so it was never a real tanker inherent.
-
ouchie...that is one helluva wall o'sarcasm. nice job.
-
there was no need for this thread to be started, just like there was no reason for you to start 3-4 threads about proliferating AT's without having to purchase GR. there is no reason not to play a tank. it is something different. the game is not all about how fast you can kill stuff. a tanks damage is actually quite decent for the amount of damage they can take. learn how to use it effectively.
-
wanna double pimp slap him dechs? lol, just kidding....
...or am i? -
yes i have, but it doesn't matter as a brute plays differently then a tank. holy **** dude, just wait until GR comes out to bring a brute blue side. and your right i don't know exactly what your builds look like but i can guarantee that they are not speced for what you are trying to do.
-
Quote:that is your opinion and not fact. i have a blast soloing on all of my tanks. if you learn to plan builds out for what you want to do rather then just picking powers, you will have more fun and notice that your ideas hold no merit."suggest you learn how to play and build your toons"
What does me learning to play and build my toons have anything to do with my suggestion?
My experience is what made me think of this suggestion.
Tanks are fun as hell while teaming...but when I solo it is too boring. -
Quote:if this is the case it isn't even worth the devs time. it wont get used when i can get one from the market for 300 mil or less if i wait.
Necrotech: If you're complaining about cost, you're missing my point. If a certain purple was costing you 300 million inf on the market, it would cost you 500-600 million inf from the vendor in my system.
Quote:No, I was thinking about inflation. The Devs consider inflation an issue, and I agree. I already can and do get the recipes I want. (I've slotted 11 Luck of the Gambler globals in the past 3 months, and sold 3 more beyond that, for example.)
Quote:Because the prices at the store would cost twice as much (or more). You do realize that we can already buy basic IO recipes for influence at the Universities? Those basic IO recipes still sell like hotcakes on the market. (Heck, you can even flip some of them from the vendor--the margin isn't good, but people will often pay more on WW than the university charges you.) -
Quote:ok, just like everyone of your other posts, i will gladly /unsinged this. i suggest you learn how to play and build your toons. if you want an offensive juggernaut, go with fire/ss or shield/ss or fire/elec or shield/elec or willpower/ss or willpower/elec... im sure you get the point.Ok...hear me out...
It effort to make Tanks more "solo friendly"...I have proposed many damage boost ideas.
However, I have came to the conclusion that they don't really "need" more damage output.
I propose that they give Tanks "Fury"...just not as potent as Brute Fury.
In order to keep balance...make 100% "Fury" equal a 50% damage bonus. (I have not ran any number's so I'm not sure if that's too much of an bonus or not)
The Fury mechanic makes soloing much more fun, in my opinion.
You could keep the Gauntlet effects on top of Fury.
Would 100% Fury equalling a 50% damage bonus for Tankers be too unbalanced?
Edit: Even if it is a little bonus...people will still try and keep it full.
This will help greatly when teaming, as the Tank will always try to generate as much aggro as possible and soloing a Tank would actually be fun. -
purples and PvP io's will never be purchasable pther then on the market or by getting them as drops. that is the way it is. and you don't have to spend a fortune, you can place whatever you would like to bid on whatever and wait. or sell your stuff that you don't want or need at the time and make billions to fund your purchases.

Quote:you are going to want to post a hijackthis report and CoHhelper report. that way we can see if your drivers are all up to date.(drivers for video cards do not store on the card and should never be downloaded from microsoft or aloowed to be downloaded from there or their updater.)I say “another” because I see a lot of people have issues with connecting sometimes for various reasons. However, in searching thru the forums I couldn’t locate any that really helped me. One came close but mentioned something called a “NIC” (which I don’t know) and regarded different hardware then mine. I have been in touch with NCsoft Tech support for the last three days and am still attempting to get my ISP to respond. I’m hoping someone here will be able to help. Ok, here is my problem:
Long time player of CoH left and am now back. Within that time I’ve had to purchase a new PC as the old one finally went kapoot. In logging in, I get past the updater just fine, but after an extremely long load-up and putting in my username/password I get that oh-so-special popup stating I can’t connect to their server.
What I have done to attempt to fix:
-Totally disabled Firewall on Router/modem and hardware
-Closed ALL security programs
-Setup Static IP and Port forwarding to specific ports
-Rebooted router/modem after each
-Uninstalled/Reinstalled game (just to be on the safe side)
-Switched second computer Ethernet jack in router/modem with first computer’s (I have two comps jacked into same router/modem) thinking second comp was jacked into a DMZ port.*
*Second computer runs game fine, quickly, with no issues. First computer (the newer one) is the one I have trouble with.
Brief glance at my specs:
-New Comp (1st)-
Hewlett-Packard (Compaq Presario #CQ5210Y)
Windows 7 64-Bit (Compatibility set for XP Service pack 2)
Windows Experience Index Rating: 5.5 / 6.2 (thanks to memory)
Ram: 3 GB
Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 215 Processor 2.70 GHz
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS (Updated Drivers for AoC game)*
Actiontec Q1000 (Router/Modem)
*Vid Card carried over from old comp that played game just fine
-2nd Comp-
Hewlett-Packard (HP Pavilion #a6114x)
Windows Vista 32-Bit (Service pack 1- compatibility set for XP Service pack 2)
Windows Experience Index Rating: 4.8 / 5.9 (thanks to Processor)
Ram: 2 GB
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4000+ 2.10 GHz
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT (Drivers not updated)
Actiontec Q1000 (Router/Modem)
That Net Info Tool I used for the NCsoft Tech said there is an “unknown error” in port 2106 (which CoH uses) and is assumed by the Tech as the cause of the issue and was reason port forwarding was attempted – however, my 2nd comp works fine with game despite any of this.
So any help would be greatly appreciated. I still haven’t heard back from my ISP and not sure if this is their problem as the 2nd comp works fine on the same router/modem. I keep saying that because it seems to me the issue is with my new comp and not the router/modem. In any event, someone please help. I am sick to death of playing the typical Swords & Sorcery games (EQ1 & 2, AoC, Vanguard, Etc.) and need my super villain fix. Thanks.
also, why is this:
Quote:Windows 7 64-Bit (Compatibility set for XP Service pack 2)
another thing. did you actually unplug your modem and router before hooking up the new comp? if not that will cause this also. and if not what you need to do is turn off your comp, unplug the router and modem and all cables going to them. and wait for 2 mins. then plug in all of the cables to the modem and the feed from the modem to the router(do not plug in the router yet though) then plug in the modem and wait 30 secs, then plug in your router and wait 30 secs. then turn on your comp and you should be ok.
if these suggestions don't help first, go to posting the 2 reports we asked for. -
Quote:thanks B. i haven't had an ATI card in forever so i wasn't quite sure.
Because ATI was purchased by AMD. -
well, actually with as much as it pops up in the Tech issues section, i think that windows7 is the culprit, but there are work arounds for it. they should be posted in the tech section here. and make sure you got your drivers for your video card from the actual chipset manufacturer, either Nvidia or ATI. although for some reason i think you have to get the drivers for an ATI chipset from the AMD site.
-
yes you can drop a purple if you are running with a 50 in their mission while you are on your lv 10.
-
owwww. you made my brain hurt. lots of stuff there. give us a few days or maybe less to look at it all and figure something out...
-
Quote:then bring it. please. and i have given other ways to get said salvage without using the market. in fact i'll start. i need 2 pieces of the same salvage. i know what lv and what type of salvage it is. random rolls are 8/roll and to make it fair specific common salvage is 20/salvage. now i take 2 rolls and get what im looking for. i spent 16 tickets versus 40 to get what i needed. now granted i could have saved all of .05 secs buying the salvage but i got lucky. even if i had to roll 5 times to get the 2 pieces, i came out ahead 3 more pieces of salvage as compared to only getting 2 pieces. in fact the other salvage might even be something i need.
...the discussion hasn't even touched on a cost/benefit analysis...
go from there. -
Quote:no, no miss communication. he is talking about giving something for free to people who do not want to pay for GR. I have read between the lines. i have absolute objection to this as it says to the new players who bought GR, "HA. you had to buy it while those of us who already were playing get it for free."Wait wait wait. Slow down a second.
What we have here is a failure to communicate. (I think).
After buying the GR expansion, instead of having to run a character through Praetoria to get the hero/villain choice, you will instead be able to create a character of any of the ATs available to you (so you still have to unlock H/VEATs) as either a hero or a villain, starting in Atlas/Galaxy or Mercy as appropriate.
How does that cost Paragon or NC money? The option is not available to those that have not purchased GR.
